So, I decided to do this after all this time!
Just to be clear- this isn't romance! It's a friendship/ family kind of thing still.
It had been nine months since Tomura Shigaraki had left their apartment home. It was really kind of sad for them both. He was like another son for Inko in that short time he was there. He was like a little (big?) brother to Izuku. The two of them hadn't spoken of it since Izuku found out he left.
He missed the outrageous profanity. The planning. The watching TV together. Coming back from classes to see Tomura walk out of his closet. How eager he was to eat or when he was wearing Izuku's over sized head phones while he played video games.
He missed it all.
The two of them weren't in a depression- it just felt as if a hole in their hearts existed. Something was missing.
Izuku had followed the news on every social media platform. He intentionally made sure to stay away from where ever Tomura and his League of Villains were seen at whenever he could help it. He managed to even have a vague idea where he might be living. Then he had noticed his mother had been watching the news more too over the months.
She must've not noticed he saw her watching it. Inko would be gripping the remote tightly and she would become visibly more upset when the League of Villains was mentioned. She looked concerned, tense and stressed out sometimes. Izuku understood... he felt it too.
Tomura thought about them too. They had come home on Izuku's birthday to see a cake on the kitchen table. The corner was slightly decayed and the cake had green icing with red writing that said, 'Happy B-Day Hero'. On Inko's birthday, the cake box was in the same condition and the icing was a bright blue with pink writing that said 'Happy B-Day Mom'. The two of them cried in silence while eating those cakes.
Neither one of them minded he broke into the apartment to drop off the cake and at least he locked the door behind him.
Now, Izuku was gazing out his window from his desk watching as snow started to fall from the sky. He still had a hero paper to write, English translations and math problems to do. He was procrastinating and it was something he had been doing enough, even his friends from school had noticed. Even Katsuki Bakugou had noticed his change in demeanor and started cutting him some slack.
Izuku pulled out his phone and started scrolling through the news when he saw an ad for a woman in town who had a special quirk.
Hmmmm.
He scrolled through the article. Scanning it for interesting stuff. Apparently this woman helped reverse age for people with terminal illnesses. She charged only ten dollars a person. Once she reverses the age, the cancer or other diseases goes back to where it can be treated. Age reversing can be temporary or permanent depending on the disease itself.
For a moment he held his breath. He never came across that woman Aimi Ito again but he didn't party like she did or actively seek her out either. He chewed his lip as he read her only backlash was her hair lost all color and was now white to almost clear. It was quite pretty since it seemed to soak up the colors she was around. She looked no more than twenty three.
No. No that would be stupid.
Izuku had made tremendous strides in underground work with Aizawa. At first, the drive to save 'the one who would affect the millions' was stronger than ever but as time went on, it started to hurt. He did his best to ignore it but then tiny things would remind him why he was doing the more dangerous, soul sucking work.
Tomura was so close but so far away.
His tired as always teacher knew something was wrong but he wasn't going to pry. He would try to talk to the curly haired boy but he was shut down, not giving more than one to two word answers. Izuku knew he suspected something but he wasn't willing to share. He wasn't willing to withstand the back lash.
There were times when he thought for sure he saw Tomura more than once. That pale blue hair poking out of his black hoodie. His face was covered but there was no mistaking those angry red eyes. He was even sure the villain was keeping tabs on him. It made his heart clench.
"Izuku! I'm home!"
He didn't answer. He backed of the news site and went back to his work.
Knock knock
"Honey?"
She opened the door. Inko looked concerned.
"Honey are you ok?"
"Yea. Just doing homework."
"Don't you need a nap? Mr. Aizawa will be here around ten."
He glanced at the clock. It was almost six now.
"Yea."
She placed a hand on his shoulder.
"I know baby, I know. I miss him too."
Izuku turned around in his seat. She always knew what to say... even when he never said anything out loud.
"Thanks Mom. I'll nap. Can you set up the coffee pot for me for nine thirty."
"Of course!"
She kissed the top of his head and left him alone.
He shut his books and stripped down. He pulled on his black version of his hero costume. His mom worked on it hard and he had extras made thanks to All Might paying for it. He still had his green version as well. He got into bed, planting his face into the pillow and closed his eyes.
He had gotten into the habit of making coffee. He always had three paper cups, one for himself, one for Aizawa and one for Shinsou. The two of them were always excited when Izuku opened the apartment door and they could smell it wafting through the living room from the kitchen. It was one of the few things that made him smile anymore.
He had stopped his work study with Bakugou and Todoroki with Endeavor making them concerned but once they found out he changed his hero course, they let it go. He only had to do his work study Wednesday and Thursday from ten at night to two in the morning. Friday and Saturday was nine at night to three in the morning. Shinsou and him got passes to get work done by Friday instead the day it was assigned.
He let out one more sigh and he was out until his alarm went off at nine forty five.
Izuku got out of bed quickly and headed for the bathroom. He took in a deep breath to smell the coffee in the apartment. If this kept up, he was going to end up like his teacher. That made him smile just a little at the thought. He peed, brushed teeth and made an attempt to tame that wild mess with little success.
He saw his mom's door was cracked and she was ready asleep. She got him a coffee maker with a timer since he would be out late and she had a hard time staying awake after working nine hours.
Izuku stretched in his hero costume as he made his way down the hallway into the kitchen. He grabbed three paper cups and poured them out. He placed one sugar for Aizawa. Two cream and two sugar for Shinsou then five cream and one sugar for his. Exactly at nine fifty five, there was a knock on the door.
"Coming!"
Izuku headed for the front door and opened it. His teacher gave a small wave and Shinsou smiled at him.
"Come in. Mom is asleep already."
"I don't blame her," the man said.
"I have some coffee cakes," Izuku stated as he closed the door.
"Tomorrow after school I'll get some cakes and a can of coffee grounds," Shinsou said, "You've been buying for a while now."
The green haired teen smiled and noded, "Thanks."
"I figured we can head out in ten minutes," Aizawa said looking at him.
Izuku arched an eyebrow at him.
"We're both concerned. You've been less than….. happy lately."
Aizawa watched as his lips was pressed into a thin line.
"We are just worried about you. We wanna offer help if we can if something is bothering you that bad."
He looked at Shinsou for a moment before turning around and grabbing his coffee.
"I'm not ready yet. I don't know how to fix it."
"It must be pretty serious if you don't have a solution."
"It….. is."
His teacher placed a hand on his shoulder.
"We're always here for you."
"What you said hasn't left me."
"Which thing?"
"'Some days we can save those... those people who could affect millions then there are days when we fail and we fail the millions. We can't do anything about it anymore than we can. We are only human.' I have never forgot those words. They are more true than you know but that one almost means more to me than the millions."
Aizawa's eyes widened.
"So, there's a one you need to save."
Izuku nodded hesitantly.
"That's all I want to say."
"I think that's pretty awesome," the purple haired teen said, "You changed a whole career path for just one person. They must be pretty important."
"They are."
"Like….. you wanna date them?" Shinsou asked trying to squeeze more info out of his friend.
Izuku's cheeks turned bright red, "NO! It's not like that….. It's just….. It's important to me."
"I understand."
The two teens looked at Eraserhead.
"I get it more than you know. Let's head out."
Izuku followed behind his teacher and friend, all three of them with their coffees.
He is that important. To me. To Mom.
Once they were on their way to stake out a human trafficking ring, jumping from roof to roof, something in him felt as if he had to take action now. To reaffirm if this was what he really wanted to do this.
I need to see him again.
