Sunday - Mitsubishi USJ Financial Bank – 09:10

Yukinoshita takes a deep breath, before slowly walking through the revolving doors to the bank. On her right shoulder hangs a handbag, with her left hand holding a few documents.

She peers around the inside, seeing several people seated on the comfy chairs. On the glass tables by the chairs, magazines sit piled up. The carpet is dark red, with light red painted walls to contrast.

Despite so many people inside, the bank is quiet, with only the sounds of low whispering filling the air.

"I just entered the bank." Yukino states into her earpiece. "Heading to the target now."

She does just that, and begins strolling towards one of the counters where a lady can be sitting and typing on a computer.

"Hello…" The wealthy-girl greets. "I'm here for a safety deposit box."

"Right, of course madam."

Yukinoshita hands the lady at the counter a few documents, prompting the woman to type a bit more into her computer, before leading Yukino away and towards the vault. As they arrive, the lady types a code into a keypad on the side of the vault door. It makes a loud noise, before the thick titanium door begins slowly moving to the side.

After a good minute, it finishes, allowing Yukinoshita inside.

"I'm here for box 101." She states, as she enters the vault, reaching into her bag.

"Yuigahama, do you know why you're sitting here with me?"

In a colourful room, a young Yui sits on the floor in front of a woman. The woman wears a thin turtleneck and has long black hair with red glasses.

"No…" She responds, not looking at the lady, instead opting to continue using her crayons to colour in the colouring book on her lap.

"Your mother is worried about you…"

The young girl feels a pit in her stomach.

"W-Why?"

"She says you've been acting different since your father left."

"I don't know…"

"Yuigahama, it's always difficult when two parents get split up, and that difficulty is multiplied when one of those parents just leaves without warning. You may facing abandonment issues…"

She places down her red crayon, then reaches for a blue one. At the moment, Yui is colouring in a picture of a Spider-Man.

"I-I'm fine…"

The older woman sighs, then leans back.

"Do you miss your father?"

"I guess…"

"How often do you think about him?"

"A lot…"

Her responses are low in tone, with a hint of sadness.

"Do you want to see him again?"

"I don't know…"

"Yuigahama, you seem averse to giving any concrete answers; why is that?"

There is a tense silence between them, as Yui continues colouring in the page.

"I-I don't know… I don't anything…" She responds softly.

Present Day - Mitsubishi USJ Financial Bank – 09:26

Hikigaya and Rorona stand leaning against the wall of a dark alleyway. Both of them are dressed in black jumpsuits, with a duffle bag hanging off of a shoulder each. In front of them, two dirt bikes are parked, aimed towards the street.

"I'm here for box 101."

The words ring through Rorona and Hachiman's earpieces like a bell, prompting the assassin to quickly head forward, towards his bike.

"That's the signal." He says, before getting seated on the vehicle.

"Here we go…"

A few moments later, the bike engines rev, before both of them speed out of the alleyway and into the busy street. The helmets they wear have tinted visors, masking their faces.

It takes about thirty seconds for them to arrive at the entrance of the bank. As they do, several bystanders outside notice the guns strapped to the two men. People begin to back away slowly, as Hachiman and Rorona step off the vehicles and walk towards the revolving glass doors that lead inside.

"Everybody get down on the ground now!" Hikigaya yells out as they enter.

BANG
BANG
BANG

Rorona fires out three shots from his rifle, two hitting the roof, and one hitting a camera in the corner. A security guard at the entrance quickly tries to reach for his own weapon, but the assassin knowingly pulls out a tazer, and proceeds to subdue the man.

The civilians in the bank all cower in fear on the ground, some even start crying. By the counters, one of the bank tellers hits the silent alarm button, alerting the police. In most cases, this would be ideal, however right before entering, Yukinoshita disabled the silent alarm.

This will not keep out the police though, as the civilians outside have already began calling for emergency services.

"Take me to the safety deposit boxes!" Hachiman yells out sternly, grabbing one of the tellers.

The man nods his head, and begins to guide the assassin to the door leading to the vault, while Rorona waits upstairs doing crowd control.

"Two minutes until police arrive."

Through the earpieces, Hiratsuka keeps them updated. At the moment, she and Yuigahama are in the basement, watching the monitors Yukinoshita set out for them.

As Hikigaya arrives at the vault, he tells the teller to go back upstairs and wait. The terrified man does that exactly, while Hachiman walks over the large vault door. Like planned, he finds it open, and as he steps inside, he sees Yukino waiting for him, along with the female teller who brought her here.

Due to the long time it takes for the vault to open, it was crucial someone enter before the assassin, giving it time to open.

Him and Yukino exchange a glance, but nothing more. Her and the teller then quickly step to the side, allowing him to look around.

Once Hikigaya finds the safety deposit box, he reaches into his duffle bag and pulls out a circular metal device that Yukinoshita constructed for him. He places it on the box door, before turning a dial on the small machine.

After stepping back, the metal disc begins spinning, causing smoke to rapidly come out, before a zapping noise ends the spinning.

"Police arriving in one minute!" Hiratsuka repeats, not hiding the urgency in her voice.

Hikigaya walks back over to the safety deposit box and throws the machine to the side. He finds that the lock on the box has been destroyed and replaced with a large hole.

After opening the box, he reaches inside, finding a big envelope packed full of documents. Hachiman places it into his bag, before quickly running out of the vault and heading upstairs.

He taps Rorona's shoulder, as he runs past him and the civilians on the floor. Rorona follows the assassin, and soon both are back out the doors and onto the street.

"Twenty seconds until police."

The two of them jump on their bikes, before the engines loudly roar through the air.

Not a moment later, the two of them escape out onto the street.

"Just so we're clear, you know why you're here right?"

In a dark room, Detective Touma sits in a hard-wooden chair, opposite from the Chief of Police. The window next to them is open, letting in an ice-cold breeze.

"Yes…" Reo responds, both hands resting on his lap.

In front of him, on the table, his badge and gun are placed.

"A few hours ago, you shot and killed a man. Do you acknowledge this?"

Dry blood stains the detective's clothes.

"Y-Yes… I acknowledge it."

"This man has been identified as a hitman for hire, with gang affiliations."

Touma takes a deep breath and nods, before the chief continues.

"For the past two years you have been chasing this man. You originally got onto him when he was seen fleeing the scene of the murder of a seven-year-old child."

"T-That's right…"

"At the moment, the Japanese Police believe him to be responsible for several other deaths of high-profile children. You have suspected him for a while, no?"

"Y-Yes…"

"When we sent you to go arrest him at his home, we were assuming you would return him here alive. Do you acknowledge this?"

"I do…"

"And yet, he's in the morgue."

"Like I said in my report, he pulled a gun on me. I acted in self-defence."

There is a brief silence, as the cold air continues filtering into the room.

"Yes, the forensics team did find a gun on the suspect. Your story does seem to check out."

"Then why am I here? Being g-grilled about it?" Touma responds, strangely emotionlessly.

"Because it's extremely unusual for someone with your experience to use lethal force. I just need to determine if the decision you made was the right one."

"A child murdering assassin is dead. I think no matter how you look at it, I made the right choice."

"Frankly, I don't see it that way."

There is another, longer, silence as the chief writes something down.

"Detective Touma, as of now you are on paid suspension until further notice. We will review your statement and the evidence, then act as we see fit."

"B-But, the captain's applications are in one week. If I miss it it's unlikely I'll be able to-"

"I'm sorry Detective Touma, but you'll have to miss it. As of now, you're in no position to change anything."

Present Day – Sunday – Abandoned Basement – 21:56

Around a large new table, Hikigaya, Yukinoshita, Hiratsuka, Yuigahama and Rorona sit. Each of them having a glass of a juice in front of them. In the middle of the table, the envelope from the bank sits, unopened.

"Holy shit!" Shizuka yells out, leaning back in her chair. "I cannot believe we pulled that off! What a rush."

Hachiman, sitting next to her, smiles, before taking a sip from his glass.

"We were amazing!" Yui adds with a wide grin.

"We were amazing?" Rorona questions. "You mean Hachiman, Yukino and I were amazing! All you guys did was sit at computers."

"They did their fair share, Rorona." Yukinoshita adds with a chuckle. "Shizuka was a big help."

The teacher blushes, hearing Yukino use her first name for the first time. The two share a quick glance, acknowledging each other.

The basement is currently quite dark, with the lights turned off. Only a few candles by the table light up the area, giving off a nice atmosphere.

"So, are we going to open this envelope or not?" Hikigaya asks, placing his drink down.

"Oh, can I do it!" Yuigahama asks excitedly.

Rorona leans over the table and pushes the envelope over to the teacher.

"I think Shizuka should do the honours."

There is a brief silence, as she takes the envelope and slowly rips the top open. Everyone watches her, on the edge of their seats, as she removes a few documents.

Hiratsuka's facial expression quickly changes from curiosity to shock, as she sees what's inside. Similarly, the others faces change to worry.

"What do you see?" Hachiman asks, placing his hand on her shoulder.

"Oh my god…"

The teacher looks around at everyone.

"It's blackmail..."

"Blackmail for who?" Rorona asks, raising an eyebrow.

"It looks like... It looks like blackmail for every major public offical in Tokyo..."

The basement goes silent, as everyone stares at Shizuka.

Author's Notes: I showed my friend this fanfiction and she has been reading it. If she makes it this far: Hello Selin! Anyway, it appears that the envelope didn't have what team 8man was looking for. What will happen next? Who knows...
