Sanji POV
"Call for your captain, you scum!" the man said.
"N-never," Sanji replied coldly, "You're not gonna get anything out of me. I'd rather die." He felt blood run down his face from his temple. He felt another punch to the head. He groaned.
"You scumbag!" He was punched again, this time in the stomach.
"We're not getting anything out of him, Kari."
"Shut up, Margo. I'll get him to talk."
"Whatever you say," Margo answered. Kari looked to Sanji, who was hanging on a cross-like figure. "Tell me where he is or I'll kill you!"
"Didn't I tell you that I'd rather die?" Sanji said.
"You stupid bastard. You will die, Black Leg," Kari growled. "Margo, announce it."
"Announce what?" Margo asked.
"Black Leg Sanji's execution. It'll be today. Midnight.
"Let everyone know."
Great, I'm gonna die today, Sanji thought. No, no, don't think like that, Luffy will come. I know it. My crew is always there for me. The Straw Hat Pirates never lose, and if we do, we'll just get up again.
Kari punched him one more time, then he and Margo left. Sanji felt hopeless, but he knew Luffy was coming, along with the crew. They already knew Sanji was captured and they knew that their enemy was strong. But nothing could stop them. They were coming.
All Sanji could do now was rest. Even in his terrible condition, rest could be helpful. He closed his eyes, ignored all the pain in his body, and dozed off to sleep.
...
Nami POV
What do we do? She thought, We don't even know where Sanji is, And they'll probably kill him if we don't show up. The only way we could save him is if Sanji gave up our location. She fell to her knees and broke into tears.
Robin patted her on the back. "It's okay, Navigator-san. We'll save him. We have Luffy."
"Yohohohoho! Look at this, everyone!" yelled Brook. "A poster for Sanji's execution!"
"Execution? But why?" Nami rose and wiped her tears. "Don't they want information from him? Why would they kill him?"
"To lure us. They want us dead along with him," said Robin.
"Or more likely," Zoro stepped in, "to extract information from us as well. If you ask me we should just leave him. He's caused us enough trouble already. He can get out of it alone."
"ARE YOU AN IDIOT?!" Nami punched him in the face, as normal. "WE CAN'T LEAVE HIM! HE'S PART OF OHR CREW."
"Ouch!" He yelled. "Fine, fine, whatever. We can save him."
"So what do we do now?" Chopper asked.
"That's up to our captain." Robin stated. They all looked at Luffy.
"We're gonna save Sanji!"
"What else could we expect from Luffy?" Franky said. They all started to smile.
"If we're gonna do that, then don't we need a plan?" Zoro said, obviously annoyed.
"We'll make one," said Nami.
...
Robin POV
"Huh?" Luffy said. "Can you repeat the plan?"
"You weren't listening?!" Usopp said.
Nami facepalmed. "Of course not. You're Luffy, after all," she said to herself. "Whatever. Here's the plan, again. Luffy and Zoro will be the distraction. Luffy, make sure Zoro doesn't get lost-"
"Hey!" he yelled.
"-and you two draw as much attention as possible. While you're doing that, Robin and Brook will go from behind and free Sanji. Usopp will stand behind with his slingshot and shoot when needed. Franky, Chopper, and I will be backup. Understood?"
Everyone nodded their heads, except Luffy. "Can you repeat that again?" Luffy asked.
Nami started to yell. "YOU IDIOT!!!"
She repeated it one last time. "UNDERSTOOD?!" she yelled in Luffy's ear.
Robin chuckled. What a crew to they had. She couldn't help but laugh.
"Anyways," Zoro interrupted, "we still have to wait till midnight. What do we do now?"
"We rest and prepare!" Chopper exclaimed, "Right?"
Robin chuckled and kneeled down to pet his furry head. "You're right, we rest and prepare," she repeated.
...
Sanji POV
When he woke up, a crowd stood before him. Half marines and half normal townspeople. But they were all cheering. They all wanted him dead.
They'll come, He thought to himself. "Their coming," he said aloud.
"They sure are," a marine replied, "And we'll kill them as well. You've been a burden to us, Vinsmoke Sanji. We marines have been chasing you Straw Hats ever since you became pirates. Almost three years later, we finally caught you. You should've never came here, Vinsmoke."
"Don't... call me that," he croaked. "I'm not a Vinsmoke."
"Who cares?" the marine laughed. "You're gonna die anyways."
"We'll see about that," Sanji managed to say.
...
Nami POV
"Here, take this." Nami had four transponder snails. She handed one to Zoro, one to Robin, one to Usopp, and kept one for herself. "Everyone knows the plan, right?" She looked at Luffy particularly. They all shook their heads, including Luffy this time, thankfully. "Okay then, it's almost midnight. Get to your places." They all split up.
...
Zoro POV
To be honest, Zoro wasn't that excited for the game plan. He thought dartbrow could find his own way out of this. Sure, they were crew mates, or "namaka", if you will, but Zoro thought Sanji was annoying, and didn't really appreciate his company. Whatever, he thought. Let's just get through with this.
Luffy and Zoro finally got to their spots. They tried to blend in with the crowd, waiting for the right moment to strike. Nami said their goal was to draw as much attention as possible. Thankfully with Luffy on their side, it wasn't that hard.
"Now?" Luffy asked.
"No, wait." Zoro said.
"Now?"
"No."
"Now?"
"No."
"Now?"
"Luffy, will you shut up?!"
...
Brook POV
Unlike Luffy and Zoro, who went to the back of the crowd, Robin and Brook went to the front, waiting for the distraction.
"Over there." Robin pointed to an empty spot where they could stand.
Blending in at the front of the crowd wasn't easy, especially with Brook being a skeleton, but somehow they managed.
"Yohohoho!" Brook exclaimed quietly. "Now we just wait!"
...
Usopp POV
Usopp felt like he was catching the "I'll die if I do this disease", but Chopper had already informed him that it didn't exist.
Usopp found a building and made his way to the roof. He readied his slingshot and waited for the cue.
...
Franky POV
Franky, Nami, and Chopper found a tall building that was a bit closer than Usopp's. They got into place.
"Everyone ready?" Nami said over the transponder.
"This is Robin. We're ready."
"So are we," came Zoro's voice.
"Now?" Luffy's voice said in the background.
"No," Zoro replied.
"Now?"
"No"
"Now?"
"Luffy! Shut-"
"This is Usopp. I'm ready."
"Now?" said Luffy's voice again.
Everyone chuckled, besides Zoro.
"Okay. It's almost time." said Nami.
...
Robin POV
Up close, Sanji looked terrible. His face was beat. There was blood running down his forehead and dripping onto the floor. His eyes were closed and his head was lolling forward. Scars covered his body and he looked like the marines hadn't fed him at all. Chopper would scream if he saw Sanji like this.
What terrible things they've done to him, Robin thought. If only he didn't get captured by that Kari guy. But the marines were smart. Kari took Sanji when he was weak and tired from his battle. They planned this. All they needed was one Straw Hat Pirate, then they could extract information: the whereabouts of the rest of the crew, but it looks like Sanji didn't let that happen.
Then a horn blew. "Attention everyone!" said an admiral. The chatter died down. Everyone turned their heads toward him and listened. "This is the execution of a pirate whose crew and himself have escaped from us marines for almost three years, a man whose bounty is 330,000,000 million berries, and a man named Vinsmoke 'Black Leg' Sanji!
...
Sanji POV
Sanji opened his eyes once he heard his name announced. He heard people cheer and others clapped. He heard some people scream, but it was a scream of joy, not of grief. He looked around trying to spot his crew. He couldn't see them. They... They didn't come..., he thought. No, no. Don't think like that. They came. I know it.
He looked around, still trying to pick out crew members. He didn't see them, but he saw a lot of famous pirates. Some with bounties even over 100 million. He even spotted Law, or as his team knows him, Tra-guy. He saw some of Law's crew members, but none of his. But he still had a feeling, a little tingle that they were there. He didn't notice Robin and Brook who both were practically below him. He thought that if they were here, they'd be in the back, trying to blend in with the crowd like the other pirates. He was surprised the marines didn't notice Law. Law had a high bounty. They'd definitely cause a scene if they saw him.
He had ignored the marine's chatter while he was looking for his friends, but when he heard his name, he was drawn back to reality. "-insmoke Sanji, do you have any last words?" said not-so-friendly admiral.
That was the moment he gave up hope. His crew didn't come. His comrades... His namaka... But as hard as it was, he let that thought slide. "I do," he said loudly. With all the power left in his body, he yelled louder, "Monkey D. Luffy!..," he took a breath. "Monkey D. Luffy... will become...King... of the Pirates!"
...
Zoro POV
That was their signal.
"Now?" Luffy asked one last time.
"Now." he replied. A grin grew on Zoro's face. He spotted the nearest marine and took him out with the hilt of his sword. Luffy stretched his rubber arm and KO'd twenty marines. Before the guards could spear Sanji, Usopp's smoke bomb covered the area, leaving marines and people running and coughing.
From the corner of his eye, he could see Robin and Brook take out the guards near Sanji. Robin picked up a spear and used it to cut one of the ropes holding up Sanji. Brook cut the others with his sword.
Zoro turned his attention back to what he was doing. He took out marines three by three with his swords and saw Luffy do the same, except with his hands.
...
Nami POV
The chaos started. She couldn't see much because of Usopp's smoke bomb, but she could make out some things. Marines were everywhere and to her disgust, blood was everywhere. She could spot Zoro and Luffy fighting, but what took her attention was Robin and Brook. She saw Brook run with Sanji (who looked terrible) in his arms, and Robin right behind him. Things were going well, then she noticed that Robin was having trouble keeping marines away from herself and Brook.
"Robin's in trouble!" Chopper yelled!
"Let's go! Superrrr!" said Franky.
Nami grabbed her clima-tact and followed Chopper and Franky.
With Franky's help, they were able to make their way down the building quickly. They ran for Robin and Brook.
Once they reached them, Chopper changed form and took Sanji from Brook, leaving Brook's arms open and able to fight. Nami took out marines with thunderbolts. Franky blasted marines with his arms. Robin snapped their necks with her devil fruit. Brook sliced them. Chopper took Sanji and ran.
...
Chopper POV
Once Chopper took Sanji, he sprinted for their ship. They docked it as far as possible from the arena, not wanting to be caught, but Chopper managed to get their quickly. He reached the Sunny and dashed into the infirmary. He laid Sanji on the bed and got to work.
He treated his wounds and bandaged his cuts. Blood was everywhere. If not from his wounds, Sanji would die from blood loss. Chopper quickly took note and found his blood bags. Unfortunately, there were only two bags left. Chopper was worried, but it had to work for now. Sanji had broken ribs and a punctured lung. Sanji was half awake, coughing up blood. He groaned in pain.
"I'm sorry, Sanji." Chopper put him on and IV and gave him a sedative. Sanji eventually passed out, either from the pain or the sedative. Either way, it would take a while for Sanji to heal. This was definitely something life threatening, especially since there were only two blood bags containing Sanji's blood type, but Chopper used what he had. All he could do now was hope.
...
Luffy POV
"Nobody!..," Luffy knocked out some marines, "hurts!..," and some more, "my!..," and some more, "namaka!" He kicked the marines running towards him. Zoro was fighting an admiral, but so far, nobody too strong came their way. About five admirals had tried to take out Luffy, but even all of them combined weren't as strong Kizaru.
The amount of marines coming their way died down slowly. Luffy hoped that they had already gotten Sanji.
Then he saw the guy that kidnapped Kari run their way. But surprisingly, he was stopped by Tra-guy. "I heard your name was Kari, right? Fight me," said Law.
"Tra-guy?" Luffy said, "What are you doing here?"
"Helping." Law said while fighting. "Thought you might need a hand."
"Hmph," said Luffy, "But don't assume I owe you a favor."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever, Straw Hat." Law smirked.
...
Law POV
Fighting Kari got progressively harder, Law noticed. Kari was gaining strength somehow, while Law was losing it. Then it occurred to him. "You drained my strength?!"
"So you noticed. You're smart, Trafalgar. I'll give you that, but I'm draining your energy actually, not your strength. There's a difference. I ate the drain-drain fruit. Still though, knowing that won't change anything."
He's right, thought Law. Wait, no. He's wrong. Not having enough energy is bad for you. So having too much...
"Luffy!" Law yelled.
Luffy looked back at him, "What is it, Tra-guy?"
"We need to fill this guy up with energy!"
"Good luck with that." Kari laughed. "You're all so hopeless."
"You sure about that?" said Zoro unexpectedly. He brought out his sword. "Emma!" he yelled. He pointed it at Kari, filling him with energy.
"You-you bastard! Stop that!" yelled Kari.
Zoro continued. Soon enough, Kari... well, it's better not to describe what happened to him, but Kari was defeated.
Once they thought that they'd won, Kari's friend, Margo, appeared with his sword.
"Hm, a swordsman," said Zoro. "I'll take him."
"No." Luffy stepped in front of him. "I will."
...
Luffy POV
Margo charged first. He ran straight at Luffy, sword in hand. Luffy used Armament Haki and deflected the strike with his arm.
Margo started to say, "You little piece of-"
Luffy didn't let him finish. He punched Margo right in the face. His sword dropped to the floor and another punch came straight at his stomach. Margo didn't have time to move and he didn't have his sword to block the attack. He tried to duck down, but the attack hit him in forehead.
"You lousy excuse for a marine," Luffy said. "Don't ever... ever hurt my friends. Don't touch my namaka!" Luffy punched him again in the stomach and sent him flying back into the execution stand. And with that, the Straw Hat Pirates won again.
...
Sanji POV
Sanji woke up feeling terrible. His whole body ached. His eyes fluttered open and he saw a bright light. He closed his eyes almost immediately. "So much.. light." He groaned.
"Sanji! You're awake!" said Chopper's voice.
"Turn it... off...," he muttered.
The light dimmed slightly. Sanji opened his eyes. He saw Chopper's small head leaning over him. He shined a flashlight in Sanji's eyes. He blinked and shut his eyes. "Open your eyes! I gotta check them." Annoyed, Sanji opened them, still blinking profusely.
"Eyes are good. Heartbeat...," he checked Sanji's heartbeat. "Heartbeat is good. And wounds..." Chopper lifted Sanji's bandages, "...are healing."
"Anyways, SANJI YOUR AWAKE! I'M SO GLAD!" Tears started forming in Chopper's eyes.
"Awake?!" Luffy walked in the room. "Sanji! I've been waiting for you to wake up! Make us lunch!"
"W-waiting? How long have I been out?"
Luffy counted, "1, 2, 3 days!"
"3 days?!"
"Mhm," Chopper said. "I was so worried! I thought you wouldn't wake up."
"Well anyways, I better make us lunch, right?" Sanji started to sit up.
"Yeah!" Luffy shouted, "Meat!"
"What? No, you cant you just woke up! And plus, we don't have enough blood to supply for you. We only had two of your blood bags left. You're still suffering from blood loss, so you might feel-"
"Lightheaded." Sanji sat back down as his head throbbed in pain.
"About that," said a familiar voice, "take these." Law walked in the room with five blood bags.
"Tra-guy?" Sanji said.
"Wh-where'd you get those?" Chopper asked.
"Someone on my crew happens to have S Rh negative blood type, the same as Black Leg's."
Sanji tried to sit up again, pain still overwhelming his head, but he managed.
"Lay back down, Sanji!" Chopper said, "You could reopen your wounds."
"I'm fine," he said, but he knew that Law could tell he wasn't.
Luffy stepped in, "Why are you helping us, Tra-guy?"
"You guys have saved my life before. I just wanted to return the favor. We're even now, Straw Hat."
"Thank you, Tra-guy." Sanji said. He felt a wound on his stomach reopen. He clutched it in pain and layer back down. Blood was seeping out of the wound quickly.
"Sanji! Are you okay?" Chopper asked.
"Yeah," he said, obviously a lie.
"Here," Law said. He handed the bags to Chopper.
Chopper quickly hung the IV bags on the IV pole and hooked them to Sanji, who winced in pain.
"What's wrong?" Chopper asked Sanji.
Sanji tried to say "I'm fine," but it came out as a groan.
"You can have these," said Law. He handed Chopper some painkillers. "They're powerful."
"Why do you have these?" Chopper asked, but still took the painkillers thankfully.
"I'm a doctor too," he said. "I'll be leaving now. Bye." He teleported away.
Chopper gave Sanji the painkillers, then again, Sanji passed out.
...
Sanji POV
About a week later, Sanji was feeling better. He started cooking again, which Luffy was extremely excited about. Chopper finally let him smoke again, which Sanji was happy about.
He took a cigar out from his pocket and lit it. He was glad. Glad to have his friends on his side. Glad to be able to cook again. Glad to be able to smoke again. And most of all, glad to be back.
