I do not own Henry Danger or any of it's characters, if I did Chenry would be alive and well, not crushed out of existence by nickelodeon lol.
7:00am all four boys walk through the elevator to see a sneezing Charlotte at the monitor.
"Hey don't get your germs all over the keyboard Charlotte! Yuuuuck!" complained Ray.
"Sorry," she squeaked, a little embarrassed it came out that way.
"I have a cold," she mumbled.
"We have bigger problems right now Charlotte! You left the man cave security system completely shut down last night! Do you understand the risk that puts us at. Let's just hope the footage is clean!"
Schwoz proceeded to bring up the tape of the whole night. As they scanned it they were pleased not to see any trespassers. They expected as much. Then Ray paused the tape and rewound, making Schwoz ponder.
"Look there!" Ray yelled at the screen.
They all watched as an intruder made his way into the man cave and wandered out with not only all of their deepest secrets but a duffel bag of artillery from the weapons vault. Henry, Jasper, and Schwoz looked at Charlotte then at Ray knowing what was coming. His screams were routine to them by now, but Charlotte looked genuinely scared. He got mad but never this mad. He used his hands a lot to be dramatic and took a step towards Charlotte not meaning any harm, he was just too excited. Charlotte threw her hands up in front of her face and squealed "please don't!" as if to protect herself from an inevitable blow. Ray returned to normal other than the shocked, dumb, confused look on his face. All the guys had this look, and no one knew what to say. They had to be reminded once in while that she wasn't just one of the guys and they didn't know her past. Schwoz interrupted the moment and looked away from the computer explaining, "Okay I did a scan of the city and I think I found our culprit. He's at the top of mount Swellview, most likely hiding." he added.
Charlotte now had her arms slightly crossed with one hand on her mouth, partly out of embarrassment and partly because of the newest development in the case.
Bringing everyone back down to Earth, Ray and Henry immediately blew their bubbles humorlessly and agreed the man-copter was the quickest transportation. They flew to the top devising a plan on the way there. Shortly after landing they all split up and began their search. After 2 hours or so had passed, Ray had tracked him down and dragged him back to the man-copter. The group communicated through some high tech earpieces that he was captured and they were headed to the man cave to erase his memory and then to the Swellview prison.
"There aren't enough seats in the man copter now, someone will have to stay behind. Charlotte this is your fault after all and we gotta get this guy to prison. Sorry kid." Rays orders left Charlotte alone and full of dread. If the cold she had been suppressing wasn't bad enough it looked like it was going to rain. She felt her eyes well up with tears and reminding herself that she was alone, she let it all out. She sobbed like a baby all down the mountain. Her tears got lost in the rain drops and gave her a blurry path ahead. The rain turned into a heavy down pour. She lost her footing and tumbled about 20 feet through rocks and mud. Her crying had ceased for not even 2 minutes but seeing herself after her fall and feeling her wrist that hurt unbearably, she couldn't hold back a single tear. She just sat there for awhile feeling worse than she had for a long time, she was almost afraid she would never find her breath again from the endless tears that overwhelmed her.
Finally she had reached the doors to junk n stuff. She dragged her feet leaving trails of mud every where she stepped. She just needed to get down to the man cave and get her stuff and get dry. The ride down was rough just like it always is but halfway down it came to a sudden halt and the lights flickered out. She tried to scream but her voice was no where to be found. It was sore before but after everything it was beaten. She realized the power must have gone out because of the storm. Great, this was the absolute last thing she needed. Schwoz wouldn't be able to turn everything back on till the morning. She was officially stuck. She pulled her sopping wet jacket across her body hopelessly looking for warmth.
The guys all met each other at the entrance to the tubes. "Good morning, good morning!" Ray yawned. "Slept good Ray?" Henry asked. "I always sleep good when crime has been wiped out once again by the Man." he said cockily. Down the tubes they went to find the man cave empty and once again unlocked. Ray would have lost it on Charlotte if she was anywhere to be found. Schwoz got to work turning the power back on. Right when he did they heard the elevator continue it's course and hit the floor. Curious, they headed towards it. Just then it dinged open. There she was curled up in the corner, trembling uncontrollably and half awake.
"Charlotte!" Henry yelled in fear. She barely opened her eyes before everything came flooding back, not only the memories of last night but the tears that filled them. He automatically reached his arms down prepared to carry her when she put up her arms prepared to be carried. They were always so in sync like this, they knew what each other needed. He swooped her up effortlessly and brought her to the couch. She left behind a puddle of rain and her clothes dripped as he carried her. She burrowed into the crook of his neck, she was completely wrapped up in him. They all studied her intensely focused on the cut on her cheek bone that glowed red, her shivering little body... how could they be the cause of this, they contemplated.
"Oh Char..." Henry started as he wiped away her tears, "How did this happen?".
"Well... to nut shell it for you, I had a cold, I walked down the mountain in the rain, I fell, and got stuck in the elevator. So yeah it was a pretty good day." Not only was her voice hoarse and scratchy but she could barely get out the words with the overwhelming trembles throughout her body. She couldn't get through the sentence without letting her eyelids fall closed. Her joke received zero laughter. Only guilty droopy expressions from four clueless boys. Meanwhile Schwoz was in doctor mode, looking her over for signs of injury.
"We need to get her dry." he commanded. Ray grabbed a matching sweatshirt and sweatpants and the boys all turned around to give her privacy. She was still a little out of it but she was awake enough to ask Henry not to leave her. He slowly and very gently helped her undress. He was respectful and careful, he made her feel comfortable and safe. The sweats were humongous on her, it was adorable but only made her look more pitiful. The last thing Henry did was slide the sleeve over her arm causing her face to cringe and an involuntary screech to escape her. His heart dropped and he gently took a look at her wrist. It was swollen, slightly bent out of shape and extremely bruised. The shades of red and purple broke Henry to his very core. They turned back around to observe the situation and found a damaged Charlotte who was worse off then she let on. She clenched her eyes close and cried in pain. She held her wrist desperately. Schwoz ran to the back room and grabbed the x-ray. He quickly hovered the machine over the injury. His groans of disappointment and his very serious face made the guys sick with worry.
"It is severely broken," Schwoz said as he ripped off his gloves as if there was nothing left he could do. "I need to know the extent of her injuries, the high-tech earpiece should have recorded everything. Let's start from the moment we left her." He proceeded to hook up the piece to the monitor and skip to the desired time frame while Charlotte was in a deep sleep. '""There aren't enough seats in the man copter now, someone will have to stay behind. Charlotte this is your fault after all and we gotta get this guy to prison. Sorry kid."'. Huddled around the screen they all turned to Ray with looks of accusation. He said nothing, how could he defend how he'd acted that day? They heard the sound of the copter take off and Charlotte's sobs begin. They heard the rain fall, more like plummet, gallons at a time onto their curly haired girl. Her fall was devastating. They couldn't take it. Henry broke away, running his hands though his hair almost pulling it. Ray hung his head letting out a sorrowful groan. The tears that came after were the worst ones yet, they were helpless tears that shook her wounded body. Schwoz skipped ahead, they were thankful for that until the elevator ride that was the straw that broke the camels back. Her screams from the incident filled the boys with regret if they had any left to spare. Their only relief was listening to her cry herself to sleep. They had never once seen her cry before that day, she only voiced her pain when it was serious. They knew what she had to be going through. They did not envy her but any of them would switch places with her in a second. Henry disappeared into the back and returned with the biggest, fluffiest blanket he could find. He wrapped her gently and almost pulled away when she unconsciously nuzzled into him. Schwoz began to put a cast on her, taking her out of her peaceful sleep. Her watery eyes opened to meet Henry's. He looked at her for her reaction to what she had done in her sleep. They had never looked into each other so deeply, just then she bit her lip in pain. He pulled her to his chest and her hand found it's home around his torso. The room was silent other than the sound of Charlotte's whimpers muffled in Henry's chest. They all kind of wanted to cry themselves but there had been too high a tear count that day and they had to stay strong for her.
"Okay I'm finished." Schwoz said in his loveable accent.
"Feel better?," Henry posed the question with a sympathetic smile.
"Yes," she said looking up at him with her big red eyes. She wiped her face with her oversized sleeve but he felt better seeing her smile, despite how little it was.
They decided to try and change the mood by playing a board game. After many rounds they all felt better after a little laughter and a lot of pizza. She giggled watching her boys argue and felt it was okay to close her eyes and rest, between sneezes of course. A few seconds later Jasper nudged them, drawing their attention to Charlotte's condition. It was suddenly very peaceful as they all smiled at her sweet appearance. Henry brought out a gurney so she'd be comfortable. He tightened the blanket around her and picked her up softly, placing her on the bed. He laid another layer on top of her and tucked her in. He took a few steps away but wasn't content leaving her. He looked back at her and thought about how leaving her alone is what put her here in the first place. He lifted the covers and crawled in beside her. Charlotte rolled over and peeked open her sleepy eyes. He looked at her slightly worried how she'd react. She closed her eyes again with a content sigh and snuggled close. As natural as anything had ever been, Charlotte and Henry slept intertwined with each other's warm arms wrapped around one another. Leaving the two to their slumber the rest of the group left and turned out the lights leaving a stream of golden evening light to illuminate the room and the fairytale like dust that fell.
