"You saved us, you know," Fin's gaze was warm. Olivia looked at him in surprise. "You found this cottage when we were just giving up. You saved us."

Olivia remained silent and turned her gaze into the flames. Then a tear rolled down her cheek.

"But I didn't save Elliot."

The wind howled in the corners of the cottage, but the people were quiet. Fin added firewood to the stove regularly, and little by little the cottage also started to warm up. Olivia's every cell was aching and the warmth and the crackling fire made her feel dead tired. She fought against sleep because she felt she didn't deserve it. Little by little, however, she began to doze, and involuntarily fell into a restless sleep.

The sun shone brightly on Olivia's eyes and warmed her face as she walked the narrow mountain trail. The walk was heavy and she was hot, but the scenery was stunning and she was careful not to step off the path. The other edge of the path ended in a steep cliff, and roughly estimating, the drop was many tens of meters. Despite the danger, however, Olivia felt relaxed and continued to climb the trail. Suddenly she saw a familiar character approaching from the opposite direction.

"El?"

Her partner stopped a few feet away and grinned. The sight made the butterflies flutter in Olivia's stomach. Elliot was wearing jeans and a blue t-shirt that highlighted his trained arms. He looked so strong and safe that Olivia had to swallow.

"What are you doing here?" She asked and took a step closer.

"I came to see you," Elliot replied. Olivia smiled.

"Thank you, but I'm fine."

"Really? This place looks pretty dangerous," Elliot glanced down the cliff. Before Olivia had time to answer, the ground suddenly began to tremble under their feet and a rumble surrounded them. She looked around in fright, but could not figure out what was happening. Then there was a slam above them, and Olivia's feet almost collapsed. A huge rockslide rolled down the slope towards them.

"GO!" Olivia heard Elliot shout, but her legs did not work. Then she felt Elliot's hand in her own, and they started to run down the path. Sand and gravel fell on them, and Olivia was preparing for the soon-to-be rockslide on their necks. However, this did not happen, and for a moment they thought they had survived. They slowed down and gasped for oxygen.

"Oh my…" Elliot looked at Olivia and the laughter of relief escaped his lips. Olivia gave a laugh too, leaning her hands on her knees and trying to catch her breath. But then Elliot glanced up suddenly, the color escaping his face, and he exclaimed:

"Watch out!"

Olivia didn't even have time to look up as she felt Elliot push her violently. She fell to the ground and at the same time a huge boulder fell on the path in front of her. The collision created a cloud of dust that made her cough and obscured the visibility for a moment. When the dust then began to settle, she saw him nowhere.

"El?" She coughed and stood up. She started to feel a lump in the back of her throat as she looked around but saw no one. "ELLIOT?!" Tears welled up in her eyes as she knelt beside the boulder and began digging the ground around it. "No no no no no…" Then a call made her breath block.

"LIV!"

Olivia immediately stood up and peered wildly around her."El, where are you?!"

"I'm over here," there was a voice and Olivia stumbled to the edge of the cliff. She looked down and her heart missed a beat. Elliot hung on the edge of the cliff a little lower and when he saw Olivia he grimaced. "Thank God you're okay."

"Hold on, I'll help you," Olivia exclaimed in panic. However, she did not know how. Elliot weighed too much that she could pull him up alone without support. Her gaze circled wildly around the environment as a piece came off the rock under Elliot's foot. It fell out of sight with a rattle, and Elliot closed his eyes.

"Hurry up," he whispered. Her heart pounded furiously in Olivia's chest as she started to run down the path.

"I need something to tie myself to," she thought anxiously. However, she found nothing, so she returned to her partner.

Then something happened.

Olivia was about a meter away from the edge when an invisible force stopped her in place. She used all her willpower, but could not even move a finger. Panic began to rise in her throat.

"Liv, what are you doing"? Elliot's blue eyes filled with horror. "Olivia!"

Olivia tried to answer, but also the words got stuck in her throat. Then everything happened like in a slow motion movie. The edge of the rock that Elliot was holding on to snapped and Olivia felt her heart stop. Elliot glanced at her, formed the words "I'm sorry" with his lips, and then the edge of the rock broke away, taking him with it.

"NO!" Olivia heard herself scream. "NOOOO!"

"Liv!" Someone shook her shoulder. "Liv!"

Olivia woke up startled and, as she opened her eyes, met Fin's worried gaze. Panic still fluttered in her limbs and she noticed that her cheeks were wet with tears.

"Elliot…"

"You had a nightmare", Fin rubbed gently her shoulder.

"Elliot… I could't help him," she muttered. Then she got up on her feet with a groan. "I'm going to look for him."

"No, you're not," Fin said and pressed her back to sit. "It's still dark outside, there's a snowstorm, and we don't know where to look." Facing Olivia's furious eyes, he sighed. "You know what? As soon as the morning dawns, I will come with you. Agreed?"

Olivia wanted to protest, but she was too tired to struggle. Moreover, Fin was right: without the light, she would only get lost herself. She wiped her eyes and sat next to Cassidy, noticing at the same time that he was burning hot.

"Brian's not okay," she was startled. Fin looked at him worriedly.

"Yeah, he has a fever. He's injured and went near hypothermia, he needs a doctor."

Olivia bit her lip that she didn't start crying. Even if the flames danced happily in the fireplace, she felt herself walking in a dark tunnel with no hope of light. Without Elliot, there was no light in the tunnel and without Cassidy, she didn't want to continue searching it.

The morning began to dawn after a couple of hours and Olivia opened her eyes. She hadn't slept much since the nightmare, and had promised Fin to add firewood to the fireplace. They had helped Cassidy to the bed and Munch had gone to sleep next to him. Fin laid on the floor on a blanket and Olivia leaned against the wall next to the fireplace. She was dead tired, but her wildly swirling thoughts had kept her awake. The more she had thought of Elliot, the more her heart hurt.

Eventually, she could no longer sit, added plenty of firewood to the fireplace and noticed that the firewood was running out. Then she scrambled up to her feet and looked at Fin. He breathed calmly and she concluded he was asleep. Then she bent down to gently touch Cassidy's forehead, finding it was still burning hot. Despite her aching muscles, she managed to get moving, and after peeking out the window, she opened the cottage door. A freezing wind blew in through the door, so Olivia stepped out and closed the door quickly. She took a deep breath of fresh frost air, wrapping her arms around her. It was still dim, but she was able to observe the environment. However, the snowstorm had not yet subsided, and she looked frightenedly for their yesterday's footsteps. Fortunately, the snow that had blown had not completely covered their tracks. Olivia took a deep breath and stepped into the snow. Then she started to wade along the tracks, but did not get far when the cottage's door opened and she heard Fin's voice.

"Liv! Wait for me!"

She turned to look at her friend, who was wading towards her. A sudden gust of gratitude made her feel touched and she quickly turned her gaze away. Fin was always ready to help her, whatever the situation was.

"Thank you, but you didn't have to," she muttered. Fin looked at her in surprise.

"Did you think I'd let you wander alone in the wilderness at the morning dusk? If you thought so, you don't know me at all. Besides, Elliot is my friend too, even though we're not always best friends."

"I have my gun," Olivia snorted, but then remembered she had lost it during the crash. She sighed and pushed her hands into her pockets. "As soon as I find it."

Fin gave a hollow laugh and they started to walk in silence. The snow swirled around them, and although the walk felt easier than the night before, Olivia's guts were knotted with concern.

They had walked for maybe 20 minutes when they saw the wreck of the plane and Olivia and Fin were both surprised.

"I didn't realize we were this close," Fin said. "But on the other hand last night we waded in the unbroken snow and carried Cassidy." They glanced at the scene of crash and noticed that they were able to distinguish the areas they had walked in the evening.

"Why hasn't anyone come to rescue us?" Olivia thought aloud. Fin frowned.

"I have a strong suspicion that no one really knows what happened. For example, an airplane may have intentionally reported the wrong city as its destination, and has disappeared from the radar at some point. Because of the snowstorm, no one has been able to go looking, so they don't know where we are. The dense forest covers the wreck effectively, and now it is also partially covered in snow, Fin noted. Olivia guessed he had been awake at night, too, but instead of Elliot, he had thought about the crash.

"I wonder how long does it take that they will find us?" Olivia bit her lip. Fin shrugged.

"Hard to say, but hopefully as soon as possible."

Olivia nodded. Then she took a few steps forward and took a deep breath.

"ELLIOT!"

Fin started to walk in the other direction and also let his voice echo in the woods. Olivia waded past the airplane's turbine with tears in her eyes, and then stumbled over something. She turned to look and felt her heart skip a beat. There was something lying in the snow, and when she looked at it more closely, she realized it was definitely a body.
