"Brr… cold… cold…"
Luffy and Sanji were trudging through the snow on Drum Island, hoping to get a sick Nami to a doctor before it was too late for her. The journey would not be easy, what with the cold temperatures, man-eating polar bear rabbits and whatnot.
RR-RRR…RMBLE…
"Wait, what's that sound?" Sanji said as he spun around.
The two decided to take a look around, before seeing large amounts of rocks, debris and snow tumbling down from a nearby cliff face.
To their surprise, it was an avalanche!
They decided to take a detour and head in its direction to evaluate the damage.
30 minutes later…
The two were evaluating the damage caused by the avalanche, when the Straw Hats' captain, Monkey D. Luffy tripped over a rather large snowbank, and one of his footprints left in the snow revealed some clothing.
Curious, he got back up and brushed off the snow.
It revealed a passed-out boy, who looked to be about Luffy's age. The boy was wearing a yellow-orange top under a blue coat, with snow pants and a coonskin cap. He was rather pale, probably due to being buried in that snow for all that time.
Luffy picked up the boy. "Should we take him?"
"We already have Nami! Two people to get to a doctor is too much!" Sanji said.
"But he's gonna freeze to death if we don't get him to a doctor!" Luffy argued.
"Well, see if the other guys would like to take him!"
"That's just lazy! I'm gonna get this guy to a doctor, even if I already have to get Nami to one! And do you know why?" Luffy's tone of voice suddenly softened. "Because… I'm feeling a sorta special connection to him. Like I know his face from before… but it doesn't ring a bell for some reason. And I really don't want him to die. I want to take this boy in from the cold."
Sanji stared in slight awe.
The vigor later returned to Luffy's voice. "I don't care what anybody has to say, I'm taking him!"
Sanji didn't even argue, and they set off for a doctor, in a race against time before either Nami or the boy succumbed, despite the harsh conditions on Drum Island. No matter what happened, they would still trudge on.
For their captain, and the mysterious boy for whom Luffy felt connected to.
They would not stop at anything.
