Fearless:
April 2022
The rain had started pelting down seemingly out of nowhere.
"Shit," came a hiss through John's clenched teeth as he glanced up at the grey sky that seemed to have darkened while they were inside. It hadn't really been that long either, an hour at the most. A small sigh left his lips as brown eyes glanced over at his companion.
An amused grin made its way to Alexander's face as he held up his hand, feeling as the drops came down into his hand. A small laugh left his lips as he reached back and grabbed own on John's hands before pointing across the way from where they were standing.
A blue awning that was just outside of the chocolate shop.
A haven from the rain.
Just like that, the rain began coming down harder.
"We better run if we at least want to stay somewhat dry."
John let his hand linger in Alexander's as the two of them quickly scurried to get out of the rain, making it to the front of the chocolate shop, laughter soon erupting from John a moment later as he caught his breath. "I have to say, the rain shower was certainly not what I expected this morning."
The two of them stood under the awning, listening and watching as the rain came down, causing the world that wanted to wake up and start the day to still around them. Alexander bringing a hand up, pushing the wet hair out of his eyes, John watching until the sound of the bell from the chocolate shop, causing the two of them to jump suddenly.
"You two can come in you know," the voice of the chocolate shop owner started up. "It would probably be a lot warmer than standing outside and waiting for the rain to pass."
The two of them looked at each other before nodding. "After you," John said as he grabbed the door before it could close shut before the owner, giving Alexander a flourish of his arm as he held it up.
The chocolate shop was small, but it didn't need to be big as they glanced around. The owner behind the counter, humming to himself as he paid them no mind now that they were inside the shop.
Time passed slowly as they spent the time in the shop and the rain didn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. John had purchased a small milk chocolate bar form the shop owner before the two stepped outside once again.
John took out the chocolate bar as they stood under the awning once again, taking a bite before noticing that Alexander seemed to be taking a picture of him with his phone. "What are you doing?" He asked as he wrapped the rest of the bar up, replacing it back into his pocket.
"Taking a picture."
"Why?"
"Why not?"
Before John could even think of a reply, the sound of a violin began playing, causing both of them to glance down the street, somewhat searching for the source, a young woman sitting in her window with it open, playing as the rain continued.
"Would you like to dance?"
John stared at the hand that Alexander offered him. "Here?"
A nod.
A small smile crept up onto John's lips as he let out another laugh, taking Alexander's hand. The rain, instead of sudden, now seemed refreshing as the two of them stood out in the rain. "Wait, why are you leading?" John asked a moment later releasing that Alexander seemed to be the one leading as the two of them danced there on the sidewalk.
"Well, I was the one to ask, just now."
John just smiled as he shook his head.
A once again, rain-soaked John had to say, the day was perfect. Well, almost perfect, it was missing something that would truly just put it over the edge.
Soon as the thought seemed to have entered his mind, he leaned in, nose brushing against Alexander's. The dancing slowed down more until they had come to a stop, the violin no longer being played in the window anymore.
The rain still falling around them, the only noise to be heard.
Finally, lips meeting in a kiss.
Now, it was perfect.
AN: I haven't written anything in over a year. I was stuck in a sort of writing slump. I seem to have found my inspiration for writing again and wanted to kick it off with something sort and sweet. Also, yes, I happened to be inspired by Taylor Swift. I hope you enjoy.
