A/N: I'm not sure why it took me this long to get into Young Justice; it's everything I wish superhero comics were and then some, and it's become my latest obsession, and so, in celebration of the latest batch of episodes, I've decided to start on a continuation fic; I know it's tempting fate, but I'll mainly be focusing on a new cast of characters, all with Earth-1 Counterparts. More than likely going to go into full AU territory, especially considering that Kyle Rayner might just be appearing in canon, and depending on how Season 4b shakes out, I may go back and revise aspects of the fic to accommodate canon details. All remains to be seen…
Royal University, Star City, 2 April 2022, 11:00 AM
"Jessica, I'm still not entirely sure why you're asking me about all of this," Artemis sighed, as she massaged her temples at the young blonde in front of her. "I need to remind you that I'm not an anthropologist, I'm a literature professor."
"See, the thing is, Professor Crock, none of the Anthro Department really gets this stuff the way you do, you were the only one at the University who actually lived "the life," the other blonde responded, outright standing on the cheap plastic chair for emphasis by the end of her explanation, drawing stares from the other students in the crowded cafeteria. With that, Jessica Chambers awkwardly sat back down.
"How will you be taking notes?" Artemis asked, noting that while several trays were stacked in front of Jessica, she had brought nothing with which to write.
"Oh! Sorry! Be right back!" The young student exclaimed, before vanishing in a blur and returning barely a second later, laptop in hand.
Artemis chuckled a bit. Of course this girl was a speedster on top of everything else. "All right, so what do you want to know?"
"Well, where to begin? Also, why aren't we meeting in your office?"
Artemis cracked a smile again. "I've got other appointments today, outside the University. This makes it a little easier."
"At The Watchtower? I mean, with the League all off fighting The Queen of Fables in that book, you guys have your hands full…" Jessica asked, a gleam in her eyes.
"Well, I'm interested in hearing about your own exploits, what can you say about that?" Jessica pressed on.
"It's an odd emotional cocktail, to say the least," Artemis answered after a pregnant pause. "I'd thought I would leave it behind when I was 18. The thing was, I couldn't. Sure, it screwed me up, still does in some ways, but I've found love, intrigue, and helped save the World a few times. Even with the scars, I'd say it was worth it.
"Can you say more about those missions?" Jessica asked, still eager as ever.
Artemis winced. "Sadly I can't, a lot of this is very sensitive, there are people, living people, who were and are friends, lovers, and people under protection. If you want to know more about the ins and outs, I'd prefer you look at a more public kind of hero."
"What, like The Outsiders? Can you get me in with The Outsiders!?" Jessica shouted out, once again attracting the attention of nearby diners. Before Artemis could get a word in edgewise, the young speedster bolted out of the room, presumably to LA.
Artemis sighed again, and produced her cell phone from her bag, shooting a quick text. "Matthew, be on alert for a speedster, friend of mine, wants to shadow Outsiders". The cultured archer gave a contented smile. In spite of her overenthusiastic and at times nosy nature, she couldn't help but find Jessica Chambers endearing. With that, her attention absentmindedly drifted to a wall-mounted television on the other side of the room, a GNN broadcast, Cat Grant reporting…
"We now take you to Gotham City, where as we speak, the mysterious alien figure is on a rampage. This particular species has not been identified, and while powers of this scale have certainly been seen before, there are no real clues to her identity other than the reptilian creatures that soon followed." Sure enough, the live video showed all of the above, a golden–skinned humanoid woman in a sheer purple leotard firing green energy blasts at lumbering lizards twice her size. Artemis sighed. Never a dull moment.
Downtown Gotham, 2 April 2022, 3:00 PM
"Weirdest 21st birthday ever!" Bluebird shouted out as she swung up to a perch only one block from the epicenter. From that position, the damage was clear. Whatever species the redhead was, and her captors, it was a hell of a fight, and right in front of City Hall too. At least the bureaucrats had ample incentive to fix the damage this time around…
"You'd be surprised," Nightwing laughed, as he joined Bluebird at her vantage point. "Have I ever told you about mine, Harper?"
"Third time today," Bluebird shot back, as both focused on the situation unfolding. "And I'm pretty sure you're lying about at least half of it."
"No, it's true! I was there," Barbara spoke through the com, as text clouded the field team's vision.
"Listen, we can joke about this later, I think now we need to figure out who exactly we're siding with in this little cat fight," Nightwing said, the other two quickly following suit.
"I suppose not getting involved is out of the question…" Bluebird quipped, as their lenses zeroed in. "Clearly the lady is a prisoner, but why and how remains to be seen… How can we find out if the imprisonment is just?"
On that, the battle shifted, the woman flying high above her captors. She flew to the very same building on which the two heroes were perched.
"Aaaaand stealth is out…" Nightwing sighed, hanging his head. Before any other response could be given, the woman grabbed Bluebird and stole a kiss.
"What the fuck!?" Both heroes shouted simultaneously as the woman broke from the kiss.
The woman cocked her head, confused. "I am sorry, that is how my people learn language. Is this not true of yours?"
"It's really not that…" Bluebird sighed. "But now we can ask about your story. "Who are you, and why are you running from those lizard guys?" She motioned downward, as the lizard sentries used their sticky hands to climb the building.
"My name is Koriand'r, though in your language, it would be Starfire, and they took me from my people, my family, some time ago, I'm unsure of exactly how long, but I believe I am about 18 in earth years. I've had to endure… Many tortures at their hands. They were taking me to be sold as a slave, and I took my opportunity as we were passing near earth."
"No tells of lying," Nightwing reported, observing the situation. "And well, it doesn't seem like those prison guards are going to listen to reason now…" The leader snapped his jaws as the detachment ascended to the top of the building.
"Thank you, by the way," Starfire said, as the three set about challenging the reptilians below.
Hollywood, 2 April 2022, 11:00 AM
Sophie Song had always been the skeptical type. Before aliens and mages started showing up, she'd been the first to question whatever the sunday school teacher had told her, always watched every magic show to see if she could figure out the tricks, and considered being taken to a talk by Terrence Thurston, "Dr. Thirteen", to be the highlight of her ten-year old life. To say her mid-teens, defined by the emergence of a man from Krypton as earth's greatest hero, a boy with magical powers becoming a suspiciously similar hero after being struck with magic lightning, and a Greek demigoddess, were a shocking time, was an understatement.
It wasn't as though she'd been reluctant to believe, or really that "believe" meant much of anything anymore. How could you be skeptical of such things when your cousin in Metropolis got saved from a maniac with a giant robot by said alien? Even still, Sophie, or Detective Song as most knew her by now, was always the hard-nosed skeptic. Even if aliens, magic, and souls existed, she'd put in the work to determine if the latest allegedly magical crime really was mystical, or just a skilled illusion. That being said, she still sometimes had trouble believing what she saw.
For example, the scene in front of her now. Of all the things to interrupt her morning coffee, an orange-skinned alien in blue robes and a scantily-clad clown with a New Jersey accent and multicolored hair both arguing with a street preacher were not on the list. Sure, there were others in the crowd, but they all couldn't help but stare doe-eyed at the scene, same as Detective Song.
"You are worst of all! A wolf in sheep's clothing! You cavort with these demons!" The preacher, a tall yet shockingly young man in formal clothes and an impeccable 'high and tight' haircut. He seemed to be uneven in his delivery, as though he wasn't entirely sure of what he was saying himself.
"I know a few demons myself, and they're sure a lot nicer than you are, mistah preacher," Harley shot back. "I got half a mind to-"
"Patience, Miss Quinn. We gain nothing by proving him right," the alien said, the blue ring on his right middle finger shining in the midday sun.
"I know you're all about hope Hymn, but this palooka's all about putting others down, and I ain't exactly fond of that," Harley responded, realizing quickly that she shouldn't argue with a defender, and proceeded to turn back on the preacher. "And who are you to tell me? What makes you just so sure that all these nice fellas are just Old Scratch's way of getting us to-"
In that moment, her words were interrupted, and the world became a brilliant flash of red-orange. Where there had once been a thriving city street, there was rubble, and an armored figure standing above it.
"This city is the very center of the degeneracy I have seen sweep this country! It wasn't enough I had to live with filthy foreigners! Half the people here aren't even human!" With that, he motioned to Hymn's lifeless body, his blue ring flashing as it began to pull itself off of the fallen Lantern's hand. "Not that that means much anymore!" At that point, the figure spit in the direction of Detective Song, alive but injured, breathing heavily. "And Constance Wu here thinks she can be a cop. In my day, cops kept your people in line. I'd say it's time for a return to that much. The only real hero here is me, The WHITE DRAGON!"
Hollywood, Premiere Building, 2 April 2022, 11:03 AM
"Distress call team!" Stargirl called out. White supremacist here in LA. Calls himself the White Dragon. Who can we send?"
"Zauriel is on an assignment, as are most of the Outsiders. At the moment, only you and Squire are available here in Los Angeles," an oddly robotic voice rang out, its owner, a tall fellow in what seemed to be yellow and orange armor and a similarly colored cloak.
"Damn it, Matt-"
"Hourman, you have to earn Matt," the cloaked figure said, with a chuckle.
"Well, anyway, what about Naomi and Jinny? Haven't they cleaned up whatever was going on in Taos?
Taos, Meta-Human Youth Center, 2 April 2022, 12:03 AM
"Nobody fucks with the Main Man's daughter!" Lobo cried out, as he struck the ground, the resulting shockwave sending the dreadlocked warrior and the pale cowgirl challenging him flying back.
"Does this guy ever give up?! If not, well, we're moded…" Naomi sighed, as she got back up, worse for wear but not entirely defeated.
"Don't be so sure," Jinny laughed, her thick Texas Drawl blending the words together. "You've got a way of making magic… Better."
"I still don't know what you're talking about," Naomi sighed, as the aura around her sputtered for a second, but returned to a solid state.
"You'll figure it out sooner or later…" Jinny muttered, as she pulled a stone eye out of her vest, and held it out. In the same moment, Naomi's eyes glassed over, her aura flickered and mimicked a flame, and in the same moment, Jinny shouted out "Weak!" as she pointed the eye at Lobo.
"And what was that little bastich rock supposed to do to the Main Man?" Lobo Laughed, as he sauntered forward, as Naomi launched forward at him, this time taking him to the ground with little effort.
"That's what I mean, magic just seems to… Work around you."
"Well I'm glad to hear it," Naomi sighed. "Any clue why he thinks his daughter is here?"
"Couldn't tell ya, all I know is that Ed said they were having trouble getting through to a new arrival…" Jinny muttered, just as Naomi was thrust to the ground by a spectral force. "Naomi!"
A specter with Lobo's distinct features stood above the young warrior, laughing. "You thought that puny little rock could beat the Main Man? You're even more of a bastich than I thought!"
"Of course his soul can just do that," Jinny sighed, as she prepped her ray gun.
"What is this!?" An unfamiliar voice shouted out, its owner seemed to be a feminine, shorter version of Lobo himself with a chain tied to a collar around her own neck.
Lobo's spectral eyes lit up. "You! You're my kid! Glad to meet you. Lobo, the Main Man, but you can call me 'dad.'"
"Yeah, not happening, your bastich ass just shows up and decides he's my real dad? I had parents, and they were better at it than you'll ever be!" With that the chain, seemingly responding to her anger, lashed out, and hit the specter squarely in the jaw, how exactly it did so was anyone's guess.
"But the Main Man remembers-"
"I don't give a fuck! Get the fuck out of here! Where were you when those racist pieces of shit killed my real parents!?" The younger Czarnian shouted, punching Lobo, and somehow finding purchase.
"Fuck me!" Lobo shouted out, seemingly defeated, emotionally if not physically, and his spirit returned to his body. "Sheba's gonna kill me too!" He cried out before whistling for the Space Hog, which he leapt onto using what little strength he had left, and flew off.
"We can never catch that guy…" Naomi sighed, as she surveyed the aftermath. Most of the fight was on sand, not much damage.
"Hey, thanks for the help," the Czarnian said, awkwardly. It didn't seem like something she was used to.
"It's no trouble," Jinny responded, offering a hand in friendship. "Jinny Hex, and she's Naomi Mcduffie."
"Xiomara Rojas, but people around the Center call me 'Crush'. They seem to think I'm a metahuman, but that guy there, he called me a 'Czarnian?'"
"Well, it wouldn't be the first time an alien was mistaken for a metahuman…" Naomi muttered, "Or something else entirely."
"Either way, that was some good work there, especially with the chain. Have you thought about heroics? The Outsiders and The Team are always looking for new members," Jinny extended her hand.
"Well, I've been looking for a reason to get out of that place…" Xiomara said, a fire in her eyes.
Downtown Gotham, 2 April 2022, 3:03 PM
"Well, this could have gone better…" Bluebird sighed, as her taser rounds fell uselessly from the advancing lizards.
"Well, some earth lizards can shock their prey, I guess it makes sense that these guys can also shrug it off…" Nightwing sighed
"I have found that these beings do poorly in the cold," Starfire interjected. "They must stay inside their buildings on certain planets."
"Well, how do we manage that?" Bluebird wondered aloud. It's April, it's not warm but it's not like we'll be getting a freak snowstorm."
"The harbor's still cold though, maybe that'd work," Nightwing noted. "All right, Starfire, you fly that way," He pointed towards the coast. "We'll take care of the rest.
Hollywood, Premiere Building, 2 April 2022, 11:11 AM
"I don't suppose that bellend on the boulevard is anyone else's responsibility, is he?" Squire sighed, as he walked through the zeta tube.
"No such luck, Cyril," Stargirl let out a laugh as she twirled her staff. "Just us around."
"I kind of figured Darkseid would be the end of us going on missions every day, if anything him and The Light failing just created a power vacuum…" With that, Squire slicked his unruly red hair back under his red beret, gripped his sword, drew it, and followed Stargirl's flight only a few blocks over.
Little did either know, this battle would change everything, for better or worse…
Hollywood, 2 April 2022, 11:11 AM
Hymn had never felt so hopeless. Being a Blue Lantern, inspiring others, and oneself came naturally. Saint Walker had chosen him as a founding member for good reason, and yet, with his lower half completely crushed, and the ring's power in its "weak" mode, things weren't looking good. The ring seemed to agree, as with his senses fading, he could see, and feel it sliding off, in search of a successor.
To say that Kyle Rayner was having a bad day was an understatement. It wasn't every day a racist in power armor blew up the street you were on, and being buried under rubble just made it worse. Sure, he believed firmly in an afterlife, but considering how much everything hurt after that, it'd be a rough road to it. With that in mind, it was odd just how hopeful he seemed. No matter how bleak it seemed, he couldn't let go of the thought that it was going to be okay. The blue streak of light that soon flew into that nook within the concrete and other detritus seemed to confirm that, as it flew onto the middle finger of his right hand. As it did so, Kyle felt his injuries begin to heal, the pain fading, and a faint, but present power course through his body. In the same moment, a voice rang out in his head. "Subject analysis: Kyle Rayner, Age: 18, Height: 5 feet 11 inches, or 181 centimeters, Occupation-"
"Okay, that's enough," Kyle interrupted. "What are you?"
"I am a Blue Lantern Power Ring, controlling the Blue Light of Hope. You were the best candidate after my previous owner died.
At that point, the ring replaced Kyle's tattered clothes with a black bodysuit with blue accents and the symbol of the Blue Lantern on the chest. On his face, a mask that covered his eyes, nose, and up to the end of his upper lip, rested. "Well," Kyle began. "I don't suppose you could help me clear out the blockhead who just destroyed the street?"
"Well, I'll do my best, but I'm not at my full potential now."
"Full potential?"
The conversation was interrupted as Kyle's enhanced senses picked up an unfamiliar voice from outside the rubble.
"Woah! Stargirl and Squire in Action!" Jessica rang out. "And here I thought I'd only be able to catch the highlights later!"
"And who is this fool? Fighting against her own people!?" White Dragon shouted in relation to Jessica's sudden appearance. "Your gifts are used in the service of those-"
"Do you ever shut your gob you damn tosser?" Squire interrupted with a trio of grenades thrown at the armored assailant.
Vents opened in White Dragon's Armor as the bombs released their charge. The explosions of flames found purchase, and seemed to be sucked into the terrorist's body.
"That's exactly what gives me strength!" White Dragon laughed, as he noticed Stargirl standing between him and Jessica.
"Wanna test that little theory?" Stargirl shouted, as she bombarded the villain with a brilliant flash of light.
"Two race-traitors now. This just got interesting!" White Dragon shouted, launching a burst of fire from his hands, which met the light
"Why can't I lift it?" Kyle wondered, as he heard the battle intensify on the other side of the rubble.
"The ring is currently not able to access full power."
"Full power?"
Oa, 2 April 2022, Time Unknown.
"Foiled again! By the likes of Hal Jordan!" Sinestro Cried, as his old rival's chains bound him.
Hal cocked an eyebrow. "And what exactly was the point of that? You thought you could take on the whole corps yourself? Yellow's advantage kind of disappears when there's a few hundred greens standing against you…"
"You'll have to learn that on your own, you know as well as I do I don't kiss and tell."
"You've got that right. I'd love for Wonder Woman to sit down with you, but that's not an option right now. Oa will have to do. With that, two other lanterns emerged, quickly stripped Sinestro of his ring, and enveloped him in green light. "Unfortunately, I need to return to Earth, we're stretched quite thin, with Guy's expulsion and John trapped," He explained to those around him, as he alighted, flying quickly towards his native planet as Sinestro was carried off.
"And I don't suppose you'll let me back into the parallel dimension?" Sinestro sneered.
"Not likely," Kilowog laughed. "The guardians have other plans…"
Hollywood, 2 April 2022, 11:12 AM
"What do you mean!? Green Lanterns can-" Kyle began.
"Hope is naught without will, you must understand that," The ring interrupted.
"That doesn't help," Kyle sighed, as a surge of power incensed him.
"Green Power Ring in range. Full power is now available."
"Finally!" Kyle exclaimed, as he once again attempted to clear the rubble, this time succeeding gloriously, restoring the street to its former state in seconds.
"What is this!?" White Dragon demanded, as Kyle's eyes glowed light blue and he hovered a few feet above the street.
"The end of this," Kyle answered, as his ring formed a construct, a giant pot-bellied robot with an almost cartoonish face. "I don't like guys that insult my mother."
"Ah, a pathetic mestizo who doesn't know his damn place!" Shouted White Dragon, as he attempted to burn the construct, to no avail.
"I think I made myself clear. This is over!" Kyle shouted, as the construct blitzed the terrorist at first breaking the armor to reveal its owner–an aged white man with whispy hair and a permanent scowl–and after that taking him in its stomach.
"Woah, that was something!" Stargirl called out as she and Squire approached the figure. "Are you a Blue Lantern?"
Kyle shrugged as his feet lightly touched the ground. "Well I guess I am now."
"Well we could get you in contact with Saint Walker; not sure if you've earned a Zeta tube to the Watchtower, but we can ask Hourman…" Squire began.
"I'll do it."
Harley awoke to the same sight, and couldn't help but feel joy and sorrow in the same moment. She hadn't known that Hymn guy very long, but something told her he would find something beautiful in who his successor turned out to be. Of course, she didn't really care. She had boardwalks to terrorize. Spring in her step, she fled the scene, almost giddly. Life always seemed best when contrasted with death.
"That was amazing!" Jessica shouted, as she joined the other three.
"Uh, hello?" Squire managed.
"Oh, sorry! I'm Jessica Chambers, I'm an Anthropology Student at Royal, Artemis told me you could share some details on hero culture…"
"Well we didn't hear ahead, but I think we can share a few things…" Stargirl acquiesced. I think first we'll need something from Artemis that proves that though…"
"Done. She's the daughter of some distinguished heroes. Artemis provided me proof," another voice rang out. Its owner was none other than Hourman, his rocket boots sputtering as he reached the ground.
"Matt!" Stargirl said. "What brings you out here?"
"Personal business. I'd normally help with cleanup, but there was little damage it seems."
"Well, either way, I think we should take you to meet The Outsiders and The Team, Mr…" Stargirl began.
"Just call me Blue Lantern."
"Very well, let's just drop off this racist asshole first."
Sophie smiled in disbelief at the scene, as she got to her feet and the newly-minted Blue Lantern delivered a restrained, albeit very angry terrorist to her. At least she'd get overtime pay for the crazy report she'd have to file.
Gotham City Harbor, 2 April 2022, 3:15 PM
The lizards stood on the edge of a long, rickety pier, cursing in a language Nightwing and Bluebird couldn't understand, and firing bolts of electricity from their spears, which Starfire darted to avoid.
"I feel dirty doing this, like that asshole in LA," Harper sighed as she placed an explosive charge on the last leg of the dock, not three feet below the reptilians.
"Hey, you're hardly a racist murderer, so I think you've come out ahead here," Nightwing retorted, as he did the same on the other side.
"Even still, blowing up property just puts a bad taste in my mouth, makes me think of… other things."
Nightwing's expression changed to one of understanding. "All right, I'll push the button," he said, as the two snuck to a safe distance.
KA-BOOM! The explosion, while controlled, felt no less intense to anyone involved, and in an instant, the pier, already decaying, collapsed into the sea, taking the reptilians with it. The shock of the cold water froze them in place, and out from the warehouses, Nightwing and Bluebird quickly bound them, and the Gotham PD followed soon after.
"Why is it that you did not slay them?" Starfire asked, somewhat more confused than annoyed.
"There's a lot that goes into that," Harper explained. "The league has a bit of a thing about killing, and then you've got the fact we don't really know about their species or yours, so we'll want to get some info from them and-"
"...Speaking of information," A voice rang out. Its owner was none other than Black Canary. "While we aren't in a position to use the Lasso of Truth, I think I'll want to speak with, uh?"
"Starfire."
"Starfire. I'll see what I can tell about you, and maybe help you get a place in this world. With powers like we've just seen, I think it's best for both of us."
"I would enjoy that, there is much I need to say. I suppose I should thank you, Bluebird, for letting me learn your language, though I don't know how I feel about the taste of… I believe the word is 'cigarettes'".
Bluebird hid her face from Nightwing.
"I already knew," he laughed. "You lose your breath pret-ty easily in training these days, can't slip much past me; don't forget who I learned from."
Bluebird laughed nervously "Thanks for letting me make my own mistakes?"
Justice League Watchtower, above Star City, Missouri, 2 April 2022, 2:22 PM
"Coast is clear. When is Fate expected?" Artemis asked, as Zatanna walked through the Zeta Tube, the same melancholic look that her girlfriend of a year had come to expect plain on her face.
"I'm not sure, with the way The Watchtower follows the sun, we've got maybe seven hours," Zatanna noted. "You know, it's funny, as a kid, I always wanted it to be night, I could sneak up on people, scare them, that sort of thing. Now, it's just scary, having to go to that place with Fate. I guess now I just fight the sun going down as best I can…"
"Well why do you think I'm here?" Artemis asked, giving the dark-haired mage a kiss. "Someone has to keep you company, and with all we've been through, why not me?"
Zatanna had to chuckle at that. "You were the one who suggested we keep it under wraps a little longer, is this a change of heart?"
"Not as long as my mother still asks about grandkids," Artemis laughed. "I've been floating adoption to her, she's still not sold." "Haven't you told your dad?"
"Nah, way too Catholic, I just don't think he'd take it well."
"Wait, that you worship a snake-puppet god now, or that you're a lesbian?" Artemis teased. "Also doesn't Justice League Dark literally have one of God's Angels fighting with you guys right now?"
"Yes?" Zatanna shot back. "But there's no reason to think that Yahweh's any bigger or badder than Zeus, or any New God, and even still, you're an honorary Harper, your mom isn't getting rid of you that easy."
"True, I guess it's just weird to think of myself as bi though, more me than anything else. Like Wally was one thing, Jason was another, but being involved with a woman? That's something I didn't really see for myself until recently…"
"I get it, we all have to take time to come to terms with ourselves. I dated Dick for three years before I realized I was gay, and in a weird way, I feel like one of the lucky ones," Zatanna answered, as the two cuddled in full view of Planet Earth below.
"I know, I guess it's also that I still have a little nagging feeling in my head about Wally, what he would think of me being in love again," Artemis sighed, oddly content in her love's arms.
"Well I'm certain Wally would be fine with you dating another woman," Zatanna said with a massive smirk.
Artemis laughed. "You're not wrong."
Hollywood, Premiere Building, 2 April 2022, 11:30 AM
"This is so Craaaaaash!" Jessica exclaimed as she sped around the Premiere Building, darting in and out of its facilities, and taking copious notes all at once.
"Is she always this hyper?" Kyle asked, rhetorically.
"Not really sure, we just met her too," Squire answered, with a laugh. "But if Artemis says we can trust her, well we can."
In the same moment, Jinny and Naomi appeared, Crush in tow.
"You guys ended up with a new recruit too?" Stargirl asked, noting the Czarnian woman standing before them.
"Yeah, today was… Interesting," Naomi said, contentedly.
"That's one way to put it," Jinny laughed, as Black Canary, Nightwing, and Bluebird brought in Starfire as well.
"Three, in one day?! Incredible!" Stargirl shouted. "Three successful missions just like that! We really are all Outsiders!"
At this stage, all Jessica could manage was a squeak of awe and delight, as she fainted.
"Do we have smelling salts?" Nightwing asked.
While Jessica sat recovering, the new and veteran heroes caught up with the media spin on their exploits.
"Cat Grant Reporting! It's been quite a day in America, with no less than three explosive incidents, all within an hour of each other; first in Gotham, two unidentified alien species crashed downtown, their battle lasting for just under an hour, until the pier one species was under gave out, Gotham PD on the scene indicated that the Red-Haired alien would be treated as an ally while further information on the two species' conflict is established.
Meanwhile, in Taos, an attack from noted Czarnian bounty hunter and intergalactic criminal Lobo was stopped narrowly by Outsiders Jinny Hex and Naomi McDuffie, with the help of another figure, who seems to partially resemble the Czarnian species. Whether or not The Outsiders gain a new face remains to be seen.
Finally, white supremacist supervillain White Dragon was at last brought to justice and unmasked, thanks once again to Outsiders, Stargirl and Squire, as well as an unidentified third hero who appears to wield a Blue Power Ring. He has been identified as August Smith, a leader of a militia known as the "Aryan Nation", known for their incendiary rhetoric and terrorist attacks. It should also be said that Smith is an active member of New Calvary Revivalist Church, a controversial group led by hate preacher Stephan- At that moment, the TV was shut off.
"Not a bad run, all in all," Kyle said, with a smile.
"And thanks in part to you," Black Canary said, in encouragement. "You know, The Outsiders, and our covert ops team are always looking for new recruits, you'd make it with no trouble.
"I don't think I'll do well in the spotlight, but covert sounds good. I'm always wanting to help," Kyle answered, as another figure walked through the Zeta Tube.
"Is the new Blue Lantern here?" Asked the figure, a tall humanoid with scaly gray skin and a tail-like growth on the back of his head.
"Ah, Saint Walker, he's right here," Black Canary answered, pointing to Kyle.
"Excellent, if you don't mind, I'd like to speak with him, get a feel for who he might be and how to best bring him into the Corps."
Canary nodded in agreement. "No objections, though I'll need to evaluate him after you."
With a reassuring smile, Saint Walker motioned for Kyle to follow him.
"Which reminds me, Starfire, I need to speak with you."
A/N: Well, that was a lot all at once, I hope it's off to a promising start! I'll be updating as best I can, and for those that know me from Phoenix Gear, fear not, I'm not ending that as of now, I just need something else to write as well; as it happens, I'm going to be writing a lot more for personal reasons, so expect a lot more content from Impostor! Until next time!
