Locked Down

"I can't stop the bleeding." Thea panicked, on her knees as her hands shook with blood, pressing her hand firmly onto the wound.

"You have to." Cassie shook her head, sitting in shock, "Can't you… Can't you do something?"

"Do what?!" Thea yelled stressfully. The weight that had been put on her as a doctor in this situation wasn't something she could cope with very well. Suddenly she felt responsible for everyone's life.

"I-I don't know." Cassie said, "Just… if… if we bandage it up-"

"There's nothing to bandage up with." Thea shook her head, "The bullet must have split. He could be bleeding somewhere else and I don't know." She said, "And I can't take my hand off the wound to look or he'll bleed to death." She made clear, looking over at Cassie who shook her head, almost in a daze.

"N-No… just… just do something." Cassie shook her head as Thea looked at her worriedly.

"Check his pulse." Thea nodded.

"What?" Cassie panicked.

"Check it. He hasn't moved in a few minutes." Thea said as Cassie placed her two fingers onto neck, closing her eyes and calmly waiting to feel something, "You feel it?" Thea nodded hopefully as Cassie shook her head, her lip quivering, "Shit." Thea shook her head.

Cassie gasped with relief as she suddenly felt a flutter against her fingers, "It's there." Cassie opened her eyes, "It's there but it's… it's faint." She said as Thea nodded.

"I can't do anything until I have a first aid kit or… or something." Thea shook her head, "You're sure there's not one in here?"

"No, they're in the back office." Cassie said, "I can get to them-"

"Don't you dare leave this office." Thea's head shot up, "I mean it." She warned.

"He is going to die!" Cassie yelled in a quiet voice as Thea looked at her.

"And you'll die if you go out there." Thea said, "Do not move." She warned as Cassie stood up, "Cassie." Thea gritted her teeth angrily.

Cassie stood up, strapping her gun onto her holster and walking over to the door, "I can get it." She said with determination.

"Cassie, please do not leave this room." Thea said, "They will kill you."

"No they won't." Cassie shook her head, removing the chair from underneath the handle.

"I do not have enough hands to save the both of you. Just stay here." Thea said stressfully. Hadn't she had someone's life literally in her hands, she would have got up and beat some sense into her sister, and made sure she stayed put.

Cassie shook her head, putting her hand on the door handle and walking out of the office, closing the door behind her as Thea shook her head stressfully. Her baby sister had just walked out into a warzone.

"What's going on?" Jude asked, letting Sean step into the house, standing in the doorway with her, "What's on the news?"

"It's the station. In Chicago." Sean said as Jude shook her head with confusion.

"What about it?" Jude asked him.

"There's a hostage situation. It's been shot up." Sean told her as she looked up at him.

"W-What?" Jude shook her head, "What do you mean? What-"

"It's been put into lockdown. The gunmen are still in there and there's supposedly multiple fatalities, according to the people who made it out before the lockdown." Sean said as Jude placed her hand over her mouth.

"I-I have to call Cassie." Jude said quietly.

"She's in there." Sean nodded, "So is Theo."

"How do you know?" Jude demanded.

"The gunmen sent out a list to the cops outside. They took it from the clocking in machine. Her and Theo were both clocked in from early this morning-"

"They could be out-"

"The cops surrounding the station, the ones who got out, nobody can get a hold of them." Sean said, "Jake is on the outside operating the whole situation. He thinks they're both in there."

"Oh God." Jude squeaked, feeling sick to her stomach, rushing into the living room and searching for the TV remote frantically.

"What's wrong?" AJ noticed Jude's teary eyes and worried frame, watching as she switched the TV onto the news, trying to find an anchor that was covering the situation in Chicago, "Jude." AJ tried to get her attention, pausing when she saw the TV, helicopter views of the police station in Chicago which was surrounded by cop cars.

"What's going on?" Punk asked, walking into the living room just as Sean stepped in.

"I tried calling Jake again but… there's no way he's gonna answer." Sean added, looking over at Jude who was frozen in front of the TV.

"Cassie and Theo are in there." Jude mumbled as Punk moved closer, listening to the news coverage as he turned to AJ who was frozen.

"How are you sure?" Punk asked, his chest tightening by the second until he felt like he couldn't breathe.

"The gunmen sent out a note with the people who were clocked in. Cassie and Theo's name is there." Sean inserted as Punk turned to him, "With hostage situations like this, they'll try to negotiate with the cops on the other side." He explained.

"It says multiple fatalities." AJ said.

"They could be out." Punk shook his head, turning to Sean, "I mean, cops don't sit in their offices all day, right? They could be out arresting people or something." He nodded to himself. He couldn't let himself go there.

"I can try get more information." Sean nodded, "The gunmen will probably tell the cops how many people are dead and how many people are injured. They might allow EMTs to come in but… they know they're running the show in there." He said.

"Well then it's not a hostage situation if they're all dead in there." Jude turned to Sean, "They must want something. Someone." She shook her head.

"With something like this… it's usually someone." Sean nodded.

"Oh my God." AJ sat down, feeling her legs numb. She struggled at the best of times knowing her youngest daughter actively put herself in dangerous situations, but this was completely different. This was life or death.

"I'll keep calling and get whatever news I can." Sean nodded to them as Jude turned to him.

"Just stay here." She said quietly as he nodded to her.

"Someone should call Thea." Punk ran his hand through his hair, "She'll be at work."

One Hour Ago…

"Just let me handle it." Theo nodded, sitting down behind his desk, "If this is Brock then I gotta be smart about taking him down. So far there's no evidence to say he put that note in Chase's bag-"

"We can start looking for it then." Cassie said, "Find out his whereabouts the day Chase came home with it." She nodded, "I've known you for a long time. I know that when you get a hunch about something, you're always right." She said, "So if you think this is him. If you think he's trying to get to you… end it before he does." She suggested as Theo looked across at her.

"I can't just show up and arrest him with nothing to back it up." Theo said.

"You can still bring him in for questioning." Cassie said, "He's bound to slip up. And if he's still as mad with you as you say he is, he's not gonna hold back." She said, "Ten years is a long time to hold a grudge. Who knows what plan he's been cooking up behind bars." She said.

"Yeah that's my worry." Theo shook his head, listening as there was a knock on the door, both of them turning around as Thea walked in.

"Hey." Thea smiled.

"What are you doing here?" Cassie asked curiously.

"Nice to see you too." Thea chuckled, "Our coroner wanted me to give you these. Apparently there's been a back log." She held some folders, "These autopsies are not for the faint hearted, let me tell you." She said.

"Thanks Thea." Theo nodded, taking the files from her.

"The coroner's lazy ass couldn't give us them himself?" Cassie questioned.

"I was going out for my lunch and he grabbed a hold of me, asked me to drop them by." Thea shrugged, "How come all the cops hate him?"

"Cause he's fucking slow." Cassie shook her head.

"You're just impatient." Theo added, "It's a tricky job. You ever watched one before?" He asked them.

"An autopsy?" Cassie asked, "Yeah."

"I haven't." Thea scoffed, "I stay clear of the dead." She folded her arms, "The morgue freaks me out."

"Well I doubt it comforts anyone." Cassie shook her head.

"Why are you in a little bitchy mood?" Thea asked her, "I was gonna see if you wanted to grab lunch?" She asked.

"I'm a little busy right now." Cassie said.

"And so am I." Theo added, standing up.

"Theo." Cassie said.

"No, we're done with the conversation!" Theo raised his voice as Cassie looked at him angrily, "I'll deal with this on my own." He made clear whilst Thea stood awkwardly beside Cassie.

Theo left the office, opening up the door as it stayed open.

"I don't think I've ever seen him mad at you. He's normally following you around like a little kitten." Thea turned to Cassie who rolled her eyes, "What's going on?"

"Nothing." Cassie shook her head, "I'm sorry, I don't really have time for lunch I've got to-"

She was interrupted by the sound of gun shots. Multiple. Firing continuously. It was so loud Thea covered her ears. With the gun shots followed the screams from in the police station.

Cassie took her gun from her holster, immediately running out of the office, looking around the desks, feeling light-headed as she saw two men in black with guns, shooting and wounding anyone in their field of vision.

She looked around frantically, hearing the alarm going off as she looked for Theo, her heart pumping so loud she could feel it in her ears and head.

It peaked when she saw Theo dragged himself out from behind a desk. Her heart sank as she crouched down and made her way over to him.

"Theo." She cried frantically, noticing he was bleeding through his shirt.

"Get out of here." Theo said, conscious enough to know what was going on, what was about to happen, "They're gonna… they'll lock it down." He said, "Get out." He said.

"No, I'm not leaving you." Cassie shook her head, turning back to his office, wondering if she could make it back there without being wounded herself. Thinking about her sister who she also needed to protect.

"Cassie-"

"No, just shut up." Cassie said worriedly, pulling him under his arms as he moaned in pain, "Just hold on. You… You'll be fine." She nodded, looking around to make sure it was clear, continuing to drag him until she got to the office, pulling him in and closing the door.

"Oh my God." Thea said as she saw Theo's shirt which once was white, was now red.

"Get me that chair." Cassie pointed as Thea grabbed her the chair, handing it over to her as Cassie placed it under the door handle.

"Cassie, he's bleeding a lot." Thea crouched down beside Theo, pushing his shirt up to see where the wound was.

"Is there…" Theo tried to lift his head, progressively feeling more light-headed the more blood he was losing, "Exit?" He asked.

Thea placed her hand around his back, running her hand down it, "No… no, the bullet is still in there." She said as Cassie looked on worriedly.

"Can you… can you do something?" Cassie asked Thea, kneeling down by Theo on the other side as Thea placed her hand on Theo's wound.

"I can't see the bullet… and he's losing too much blood." Thea shook her head, looking on at Theo who was now losing consciousness.

"Theo." Cassie placed her hand on his shoulder, "Baby, keep your eyes open." She encouraged.

"Why is someone shooting up a police station?" Thea shook her head in despair.

"It's… it's him." Theo mumbled quietly as Cassie gulped.

"Baby, keep your eyes open. Listen to my voice." Cassie said as Thea watched Theo, realising they were losing him quicker than she expected. Her hands were now soaked in his blood and without any proper medical equipment, she couldn't do anything but hold his wound and watch the life slowly drain out of him.
