Some stuff happens and its kind of played off on purpose. Cause Marvel was more about the action and less about the aftermath always. I'm going with that.

As it turned out Wanda and Nat had taken some liberties with the invites for the wedding. Along with the Barton's they also invited Grylls, Wendy and Missy. The liberties came in where Thor, Rocket and Carol were concerned as well as Bruce and even Steven Strange got invites to the wedding although Kate and Yelena hadn't actually met Doctor Strange. The only one they'd really expected out of the lot of them was Pepper and Morgan Stark.

Of those invited everyone except Carol had been there for the ceremony. A sweet and quaint little outdoor wedding setting. Kate stood nervously at the alter in a black suit with a purple silky under shirt. They'd chosen purple for their colour scheme for obvious reasons that Clint definitely approved of. As well as the shirt she had a little purple flower pinned to her lapel to match Yelena's bouquet.

Yelena had chosen a dress that was absolutely stunning and fit her figure wonderfully. It was form a form fitting body that flared out at the bottom of the skirt and had small dark purple diamanté's fading up the skirt. Her bouquet was a mix of darker and lighter flowers that contrasted well. They both wore the bare minimum of make up and while Kate's hair was pulled back at the sides and curled slightly down her back Yelena had had her hair done in that same braid from the Christmas Party over a year ago. Kate loved it.

The archer had been completely floored when she first saw Yelena being lead toward her by Alexei. Yelena not only looked beautiful but she looked extremely happy and Kate had never seen anything better than that. There was a soft hush before the minister could say anything Kate stole a quick kiss earning herself a reprimand from Natasha.

The ceremony went on then, Kate and Yelena couldn't look away from one another, only when Clint had handed them the rings. Clint and Wanda were dressed quite similarly to Kate, both in black suits with silky purple shirts that matched Kate's. Natasha and Cassie were looking stunning in satin dresses the same colour as Kate's shirt bringing it all together. The ceremony came to its conclusion when Kate and Yelena kissed eagerly for the first time as a married couple.

Photos were had which took a good little while though the guests were all given champagne, or in the minors cases juice, in the meantime. They had photos of just Kate and Yelena. Yelena, Nat and Cassie. Yelena, Kate Nat and Wanda and then putting Cassie in there as well. They had photos of Alexei and Kate and Yelena. Alexei, Clint, Kate and Yelena. Kate, Clint and Laura and then one with Kate and all the Barton's, the brides and the Barton's. Kate and Yelena and their bridal party. Some of just the bridal party. So many photos.

They were just done wrapping up the photos when Carol Danvers had arrived. They hadn't immediately noticed her until the photos were done and they were all moving to the stunningly decorated building where the reception was to be had. Carol had smiled and walked over to the four women who had lingered back chatting happily.

"Hey! Sorry I'm late. I was hoping to be back on earth yesterday." Carol smiles.

"Carol! Hey. I'm glad you could make it." Natasha smiled happily and the two hugged.

"Oh my god, Carol Danvers is at our wedding." Kate nudged Yelena who rolled her eyes.

"I swear to god you are forever too happy to have this woman around." Yelena grumbled.

"It's forever cute that you're actually jealous of Carol and Kate doesn't even realise." Wanda chimed.

Wanda just grinned at Yelena when the younger woman glared at her. Kate frowned a little because by the sounds of that Yelena really was jealous and Kate couldn't figure out why. Like she had literally just married the woman of her dreams and she was still jealous? Before she could comment though Carol changed the whole dynamic.

"Don't worry Yelena, redheads are more my type." Carol offered with a little devious smirk.

Natasha and Wanda didn't miss the look Carol gave the both of them either and it was surprising. To the point both their mouths popped open in shock and their cheeks tinted pink, clearly both having similar thoughts. Yelena looked at them for a moment and then couldn't help a laugh.

"I take it back. I like you." Yelena grins and Carol laughed and took the smaller blondes arm when it was offered and they headed up to join the reception. Kate watched them for a moment before turning to Natasha and Wanda who were still in a state of shock.

"I don't know about for sure but I'm pretty sure you two could have a pretty hot adventure with that one if you play your cards right." Kate was trying not to grin like a Cheshire Cat.

"I… you… I mean I'm sure she was just teasing." Natasha frowns slightly.

"Uh… No she really wasn't." Wanda was still flushed.

"Yeah I reckon travelling the galaxies gets a bit lonely sometimes." Kate was biting her lip.

"Well yeah I mean… sure. But us? I mean both of us?" Nat was just as flushed as Wanda.

"I'm just saying I'm sure it would be nice for her to have a reason to come back to earth more often. She also seems the sort to have too much energy for just one partner." Kate was thoroughly enjoying this.

"But… wait what?" Wanda and Nat were both flushed.

"Just something to think about is all. She's hot." Kate couldn't stop the massive grin on her face.

"I need a drink." Wanda and Nat both spoke at the same time before turning together and linking hands and making their way up to the reception.

Kate let out a loud laugh and followed them.

The reception had started out really well. They'd all found their seats and speeches had been made and dinner was had by everyone. They all chatted happily amongst one another. Alexei even managed not to completely bother the Avengers who were present. Thor in particular had actually really enjoyed Alexei's tales and Rocket was more than happy to talk to the former spy.

When the food was done the dancing started and Kate and Yelena were the first to dance as seemed to be traditional. They'd practiced their slow dance more than once and Yelena had complained more than once but this time she had been more than happy to dance with her wife. When they danced together this time it was like they were the only two that existed.

When the first dance was done Nat and Wanda were among the first that moved out to the floor to dance. Cassie was convinced by Lila, the two had gotten along well from the get go much to everyone's surprise as Cassie was usually so reserved. Thor managed to convince Pepper and Clint and Laura even went onto the floor for a dance followed by the show stealers that were Nate and Morgan. Melina and Alexei joined them eventually.

One dance lead to another but Yelena went for a drink by the fourth and Kate made her way over to Carol who was standing by a table covered in finger foods. Carol was slowly chewing some sort of snack and watching the people dancing and hadn't noticed Kate sidle up to her at all.

"Would you like to dance?" Kate asks smiling warmly at Carol who looked a little surprised.

"You sure your bride will be ok with that?" Carol was smiling lightly.

"Absolutely. Come on. Even Missy and Grills are dancing." Kate offered her hand to Carol who took a moment to consider it before taking the hand and being lead onto the floor.

"Forgive me for asking, but I'm not sure I've seen your parents?" Carol asks curiously barely a minute into the dance. She had her hands on Kate's shoulders while Kate's hands rest respectfully on Carols waist.

"My dad passed away when Chitauri attacked New York. It's kind of what started my whole 'I wanna be Hawkeye' thing that lead me here." Kate smiled gently she had only fond memories of her father and didn't mind talking about him.

"Your mother?" Carols tone was gentle like she didn't want to say the wrong thing.

"Mm. I put her in prison the Christmas before last. She hasn't wanted anything to do with me since. A couple of months ago I went to see her cause she wasn't taking my calls and… well despite how ok she made it seem she was with my sexuality the fact I married a woman was just another reason for her to cut all ties. I'm not even allowed to call her mom anymore." Kate chuckled though it was a little sadly.

"I'm really sorry to hear that, Kate. You deserve better than that. I'm sure if she saw how happy you are she might change her mind." Carol was trying to reassuring but Kate just shook her head.

"It doesn't really matter. Especially not today. Because you're right. I am happy. I've never been so happy and I don't need her to be as happy as I am. I just need Lenny and the family I've made with her." Kate smiled brightly then and Carol couldn't help answering it with one of her own.

"I don't think I said congratulations." Carol offered genuinely.

"Thank you very much. Now I need you to do me a favour and go have this next dance with Nat and Wanda cause after the next one I'm planning to sing a song for my bride and it's not exactly slow dance appropriate." Kate chirped as she watched Alexei and Yelena move onto the floor for the next dance.

"You sure I'm not just going to freak them out?" Carol looked over at the pair who were smiling and swaying together.

"Not a chance. They may be a little hesitant but no. Nat's really fond of you and I've had conversations with Wanda. She's a little freak and it's got nothing to do with her being a literal witch." Kate actually laughed and even Carol couldn't help a chuckle at that last bit.

"Ok but if they run screaming it's on you." Carol grins and turns to go over to them. Kate's only response was a bum pat that earned her a playful glare over the shoulder.

Kate leaned back and watched the super powered hero make her way over to the redheads. Clint sidled up beside Kate watching the same thing with interest as Carol lightly touched Wanda's shoulder to get both their attention, the blond spoke something to them and they both visibly blushed and looked at each other before they nodded. They shifted and then both rest a hand each on Carols strong shoulders.

They moved closer together so there was little space between the three of them, Wanda and Nat looped their arms over Carols arms as the blonde lightly wrapped an arm around each of the two of them and they all started to sway together as the next song started to play. Clint nudged Kate and offered her his hand and they shared a smile before falling onto form to share a dance as well.

"So what's the deal with that?" Clint asked gesturing his best friend and the two women she was dancing with.

"Carols got the hots for them." Kate chuckles lightly.

"Them? Plural?" Clint seemed surprised and Kate laughed a little louder.

"Yeah Them. They're definitely interested too. Little freaks." Kate's tone was full of affection and it was Clint's turn to laugh.

"Well good for them." Clint grins.

The pair lapsed into silence as they danced together. Both Hawkeyes content in their friendship and Kate didn't feel like she was missing anything really. Yeah her mother wasn't there and her father had passed a long time ago but this was just as good. Clint had started out completely annoyed by Kate and the mess he had gotten into because of her. But he'd grown rather fond of her rather quickly and it had been a simple jump from 'annoying thorn in my side' to 'this kids like a daughter to me'. Since that first Christmas he hadn't really made a point of denying that either.

"You're alright?" Clint asked finally.

"Yeah I am. I'm better than alright." Kate meant it too and Clint didn't see the need to question it.

When the song ended Kate made a beeline for the little stage that the band was. She had this planned for a while now so she barely had to do more than smile at them for them to all grin and get comfortable for the song she was about to sing. Of course part of her thought maybe A Thousand Years by Christina Perry would be a good song choice but she'd had conversations with Melina and Alexei and she knew the perfect song choice.

So when the first cords started playing Kate's smile only grew as she looked at the people currently watching her. She made no announcements she simply got up and smiled at the crowd before her attention turned to her bride.

"A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance that I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while

But February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step

I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died

So bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"."

Yelena, who had only cried three other times since Kate had met her, had tears streaming down her face and a bright smile to go along with them. Natasha had moved from Carol and Wanda's side over to her sister, Cassie having had the same idea. The youngest sister had been told all about Yelena's favourite song and as Kate continued to sing to her bride the sisters all stood smiling happily and a little emotionally back at her until soon enough everyone there was singing along with Kate who couldn't keep a smile from her face.

She didn't miss her mother, it was too hard to miss Eleanor when all these people were their to celebrate her and Yelena's love for one another so unreservedly. There was no judgement like there had been from Eleanor. She couldn't possibly miss it when the only family she really needed was right there with her. Kate didn't miss a single thing about her mother.

What she did miss though, was the 'waiter' along the back that was apparently part of the catering crew at Fox Hollow. She missed the part where she had slowly drawn a handgun from his jacket and slowly moved around to get a clear shot. She missed him raising his weapon towards her. She didn't miss the cold smirk when she finally did spot him and she didn't miss the tense of his muscles that split second before he fired. That split second only barely enough time to save her life but not enough to save her from injury.

Everything else happened quickly. Cassie moved forward with Nat and Yelena while Wanda magically disarmed the man. Carol grabbed him so forcefully his arm visibly dislocated and she still didn't let up. As Nat and Wanda and Cassie urged her to take him out of the building outside. Yelena turned then and went to Kate who had her hand pressed to her arm and blood slowly seeping between her fingers. Lila and Laura had gone for the kids and ushered them back out away from the middle of the room just in case he hadn't been the only threat and the others had moved quickly to assess for any other threats. It seemed, thankfully, that this one guy was the only one.

"Kate?" Yelena seemed stressed out and all Kate could think was how shit it was that this gorgeous creature was made look so worried on her wedding day.

"YA v poryadke, malen'kiy blednyy pauchok." Kate smiled reassuringly.
(I'm fine, little pale spider.)

"Tebya tol'ko chto zastrelili." Yelena frowns deeply.
(You just got shot.)

"U menya bylo khuzhe. Eto prosto rana na tele." Kate couldn't help the little cheeky grin and Yelena huffed.
(I've had worse. Its just a flesh wound.)

"I think he was the only one. Where'd they take him?" Clint asks curiously.

"Just outside." The stress of the situation made a Yelena's accent thicker.

"Come on. Let's find out what this was about then get you to the hospital. Did it go through?" Clint looked at Kate's arm.

"No." Kate actually pouted.

They moved then to go out to others and get to the route of the problem but before they got far Kate was nearly bowled over by Morgan Stark. Yelena was one of the girls favourite people and Pepper had theorised that it was because Yelena could be just as sarcastic as Morgan remembered her father being. Yet by extension Kate was right up there with the favourites. Kate didn't hesitate to scoop the adorable little girl up despite her wounded arm.

"Katy are you ok?" Morgan looked worried but before Kate could answer the little girl wrapped her arms around Kate's neck.

"Little Stark, I'm ok I promise. But I'm getting blood on your pretty dress." Kate smiled as she offered the gentle caution.

"Don't care." Morgan mumbled sadly and Kate smiled.

"Come on Kiddo. Kate's hurt remember." Yelena reached for Morgan and gently tickled her sides making the girl loosen her grip before she pulled her away from her wife and into her own arms instead.

"I'm sorry, Kate." Morgan pouted at Kate who just smiled.

"It's ok. Thank you for being worried about me but I'm ok I promise." Kate smiles and gently tucks the girls hair behind her ear.

"Come on. Let them go deal with the bad guy, we will check in with Kate and Yelena later." Pepper smiles patiently and holds her hands out. Morgan looked at Yelena for a moment like she might have rather stay right there in the assassins arms. It only lasted a moment though before she reached for her mother. Pepper gave a patient smile before the three were making their way outside.
