Chapter 15: The boy with the bomb Part 2 "She's her mother's daughter"

Sorry for the long wait! Life is honestly so hectic but I'm trying to get back into a normal writing pattern.

Neve sat trying extremely hard not to hyperventilate, Agent DiNozzo was debriefing her on what was going on. He seemed nice, when Rory talked about him, she referred to him as her 'kinda big brother who is super goofy and watched A LOT of movies'. "I really need to get her inhaler." Neve says trying to catch her breath.

"Don't worry we are getting it, tell me what happened." Tony said trying not to snap at the young girl, she was friends of Rory's, a good friend but she was hysterical, and it honestly wasn't helping the situation. He really did think of Rory like a little sister, in everyone's minds Jenny was mom and Gibbs was dad and they were just the GIbblets, but Rory was an actual Gibblet, their little sister, and he would do anything for her. They all would.

"We were in English, and we were just messing around, some of the guys were annoying Kody but we were just talking, talking about the weekend, our plans." Neve sniffled a little, "then Kody stood up and unzipped his jumper and," Neve burst into tears "he had a bomb"

"What kind of bomb?" Tony asked taking notes.

"Like in the movies," she cried. "It was strapped to his chest."

"That's really good Neve well done, was everyone calm."

"I don't know," she cried "Rory was trying to calm people down, she was like super okay." Tony smiled at that; she really was a mini NCIS agent. "He's going to blow everyone up!" She screamed.

"No, he isn't Neve" Gibbs through his hat down beside her.

"Mr Gibbs" she sniffled

"It's going to be okay." She put her head in her hands.

"Rory is in there, she made me go, why didn't she go." Gibbs squeezed her shoulder.

"Cause she's her mother's daughter." Tony and Neve smirked at that

Gibbs grabbed the inhaler from McGee and grabbed an earwig heading down the corridor towards the classroom. He opened the door and just walked in. Kody was stunned, confused as to what was going on. Rory looked up from comforting her friend who was struggling to breathe and shook her head a little. Her mum was going to kill her dad.

"What the hell are you doing?" Cody questioned his finger resting shakily on the Deadman switch.

"I brought the inhaler."

"Neve was supposed to come back with it where is she?"

"Safe," Gibbs replied, and Rory let out a small breath of relief, her friend was safe, and her dad was here and it's all going to be okay. "I'm going to give her this inhaler now" Gibbs said as he walks toward the desk, her gave the trembling girl the inhaler which giving his daughters hand a small squeeze. She may not have outwardly been exhibiting signs of fear but looking into her eyes he could tell his baby girl was petrified.

"What's your name?" Kody asked Gibbs,

"Special Agent Jethro Gibbs." Kody whipped his head around to Rory; he had always liked her she was a kind girl. Recently new to the school but had joined glee and had always helped him. Last week when the football dicks had knocked his books out of his hands she stopped and helped pick them up. She was a good person.

"Gibbs like you" He pointed to Rory walking towards her, his voice shaking with nerves. Gibbs moved to stand in front of her, to protect her but Rory turned her head round the side of her dad to look Kody in the eye.

"Yup he's my dad, and my mom is 100% going to kill the pair of us when we get out of here." Rory said with a gentle smile on her face.

Jennifer Shepard was livid, actually livid doesn't even begin to describe the level of anger she was feeling right now. There was not a word in the English dictionary that described the level of anger she was feeling right now, to the father of her child, to the god damn bloody world. It wasn't just that she found out there was a teenager with a bomb at her daughters' school, no that was terrifying, what was more terrifying was that she had to find out via a quick text, TEXT! from SECNAV stating that he was so sorry to hear that Rory was trapped inside and if there was anything he could do to be of assistance to let him know. At least someone had let her know! She was ready to throttle her ex-, daughters da-, that bastard, that's the only name he is getting right now, until she realised the asshole went and put himself in the middle of the bloody classroom.

Jenny was attaching her gun and holster to her hip when there was a knock at her office door. "Director Shepard Doctor Mallard is here to see you," Cynthia said rather sheepishly looking slightly drained herself. Poor Cynthia had been on the receiving end of Jenny's somewhat violent outburst when she got all the details about what was going on at her daughters' school.

"Send him in Cynthia," Jenny said with a soft smile, she really owed that poor girl an sincere apology for the way she acted, and a Starbucks gift card.

"Anything new?" Ducky asked walking in closing her office door.

"I just got off the phone with DiNozzo, still no contact." She stated while pacing.

"What exactly happened?" Ducky asked.

"Jethro happened Ducky," Jenny said her voice quivering slightly, "he went in to deliver a sick girl's inhaler and he got invited to stay," she continued to pace backwards and forwards.

"Yes, but how could he let," Ducky trailed off, "he probably planned the whole thing." Ducky took a seat on the ouch.

"Jethro doesn't plan Ducky; he follows his damn gut. He followed It when he decided not to tell me there was a hostage situation at our daughters' school, when he decided not to mention that she was tr-" Jenny swallowed the bile in her throat, "trapped in the room with the god damned bomb!" Jenny stood with her hands on her hips.

"You would only be a hindrance down there," Ducky stated looking Jenny straight in the eye. "You're wearing your sidearm," he retorted before she could even ask the question.

Of course, she was planning on going down there, her daughter was trapped her, god sometimes she really did not know what to call Jethro. Baby daddy sounded so crass, ex-lover just burned and employee was too cold. He was her Jethro; her Jethro was trapped.

"Gibbs was my partner Ducky Rory is my child! I cannot just sit by here and do nothing"

"Nobody expects you to sit by and do nothing Jennifer but rushing down there flapping about like a mother in destress, an ex-partner in distress is not going to help Rory nor is it going to help Jethro." Ducky said giving the young woman a small smile. She was scared, and rightly so too, the two people she loved most were in that room, whether she wanted to admit the love for the second one or not. It would always be there.

Ducky had remained seated on the couch watching Jennifer work, and he was calling her Jennifer because right now she wasn't acting like the Director. "I cannot believe he just hung up on the Director of NCIS like that!" Jenny exclaimed after Tony had hung up on her as she was going off on him.

"You weren't acting like the Director Jennifer," Jenny gave him a pointed look, "you are a mother who is scared and that is understandable, but you also have to remember that they are all out there scared out of their minds as well and you not believing in his abilities is not helping. They all think of Rory as their sister." Jenny slumped down onto her seat head in hands.

Ducky made his way over to her and rested a comforting hand on her shoulder, "I just want to protect my baby," she said with a barely audible whisper.

The team had been working hard and had worked on a plan to get all the kids out safe. When a plan had been finalised Jenny had made her way to the command post so she could see her daughter the moment she was let out. "DiNozzo," Jenny called, and he turned to her, "a word." Tony followed her to around the corner. "I apologise for my actions earlier, I was wrong."

"No, you weren't ma'am, you are the Director you are never wrong." Jenny smirked a little.

"I was bitchy, I was in mom mode instead of Director mode and I took it out on you. I know you love Rory like a little sister." Tony gave her a genuine smile.

"You really do have a pretty awesome kid director, even if she is half Gibbs." They both shared a laugh together until Jenny saw a little ball of red running towards her.

"Mommy," Rory cried in her mom's arms. Jenny didn't think she had ever held her daughter so tight before.

"It's okay," Jenny whispered over and over into her hair as her daughter cried against her. Jenny looked up and saw Gibbs standing there and nodded to him to come over and he wrapped his arms around the pair of them, holding his girls close. "Why don't we get out of here and curl up and watch a movie mm?" Jenny said and Rory looked up with glassy eyes.

"With daddy?" Jenny nodded and kissed her daughter on the head.

"With daddy too." Jenny, Gibbs, and Rory walked out of the school, Rory not letting go of either of her Parents hand when she saw Jay milling around at the school entrance. Rory smiled at him and let go of her parents' hands.

"Um hi Rory," Jay said sheepishly trying to avoid looking at the big scary marine who was glaring at him. "I was really worried and just wanted to check you were okay."

Rory blushed a little tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, "yeah I'm fine thanks, and Kody is too so all is well is suppose." Gibbs cleared his throat and Jenny shot him a look. "Oh, um mom dad this is Jay we are duet partners at Glee, Jay this is my mom Jenny Shepard and my dad Jethro Gibbs."

Jay extended his hand and shook both Gibbs and Jenny's hands, "it's nice to meet you both, Rory talks a lot about you." Jenny smiles and greets him pleasantly back while Gibbs just glares. "Um yeah anyway so you probably just want to go back home, uh I'll text you later." Jay said walking away, absolutely petrified that the big, tall scary marine might just come and kill him in his sleep for even looking at his daughter.

After Rory had gone to bed Gibbs and Jenny flopped down onto the couch with a large class of Bourbon. "What a fucking day," Gibbs said taking a large gulp of his bourbon.

"I'll drink to that," Jenny said taking an equally large gulp, "I don't think I have ever been more worried in my life." Gibbs nodded and the two of them sit in comfortable silence for a while until Jenny gave Gibbs a Gibbs slap.

"What was that for!" he exclaimed alarmed.

"Don't ever willingly go into a room with a bomb please, I don't think my blood pressure could take that again." Jenny said jokingly and Gibbs thought for a minute before speaking.

"I couldn't let her be alone, the worst case scenario was running through my head and, I just didn't want her to be alone, in case yanno." Jenny looked into his eyes and nodded, she understood, he didn't want Rory to be alone in case the worst were to happen.

Jenny slowly leaned over and gave him a small kiss on the lips before snuggling into his arms, her head on his chest. "Thank you for always having her back, for loving her just as much as I do." Gibbs nodded and they sat there in silence for a bit. "You know you could have been nicer to that poor boy he looked petrified."

"Good," Gibbs said scoffing, "maybe the idiot will have good sense to stay away from her."

Jenny laughed at that, "mmm don't know, I think this boy might just be sticking around." Gibbs grumbled about her being too young and jenny laughed. "You are such a dad."

Gibbs kissed her on her forehead and breathed in the smell of her for a moment. "Get some sleep Jen, we will be here if she needs us."

More to come soon! Can't wait to see how Gibbs and Jenny's relationship develops from now on. Heads up though it definitely has to get more dark and twisty before we get a Jibbs happily ever after.
