Last little bit of the wedding and such and then some next morning adventure.

No one was really surprised when Yelena walked right up to the guy who was still being held firmly by Carol and punched him in the mouth. Drew her hand back and managed to break his nose on the second swing. Kate trotted over and just as Yelena grabbed the pistol that Wanda had been holding onto and cocked it pointing it directly at the man's now bloody face.

"Don't shoot him." Kate spoke before Yelena could.

"What? Why not?!" Yelena frowned at her bride.

"Because I want to know why he tried to kill me." Kate smiled patiently.

"Fine. Then I kill him." Yelena nodded and looked back at the man.

"Why did you try and kill my wife?" Yelena snarled the words at him.

"Why would I tell a little dyke like you?" The man spat back.

"Oh man… you're in the worst possible place to be throwing around so much hate." Clint commented as Carol twisted the man's arm up a little more making him cry out in pain.

"God! Stop! Ok ok." The man gasped out and Nat scoffed.

"Man, that was easy. It's like no one wants to let us have any fun these days." Natasha huffed and Wanda rubbed her back sympathetically.

"Go on then." Carol urged letting up just a little.

"I never got her name. Some bird from Bedford Hills Correctional. But…" He trails off looking at the blonde holding the gun.

"But what?" Cassie urged after a moment.

"But she didn't want the brunette killed. She wanted the blonde killed. Offered a nice sum. But I don't kill kids and there were too many around so… figured the brunette was the next best option." The guy shrugged his good shoulder.

"I take that back. I'm not going to kill him. I'm going to kill that… that… cyka." Yelena turned a cold glare on Kate who stood there for a moment with a frown on her face.

"Police are here." Wanda pointed out as she caught sight of two officers coming around the corner of the building and jogging over.

"I got to know… why'd you take the job? There's a literal god in there." Clint didn't even need to mention the rest.

"I didn't get a lot of details. Had I realised this was an Avenger event I wouldn't have. The plan was to pop off the blonde and run during the commotion." The guy half shrugged seeing no reason not to admit to it now he was clearly caught.

Paramedics rounded the corner then and came over to them all. Kate stepped back and sat down on a stone retaining wall and sighed. The police asked if the guy would need to go into the hospital but the paramedics put his shoulder back in easily and he was cuffed and taken away as another squad came to take everyone's details. The paramedics then turned to Kate.

"Kate?" Yelena looked at the woman she'd just married but Kate didn't look back. She didn't even blink.

"Kate?" Yelena tried again. Again no response.

Before anyone else could try anything to get her attention Yelena drew her hand back and slapped Kate rather hard across the face. Kate recoiled and instantly put her hand on her cheek and looked shocked at her wife.

"What was that for?!" Kate shouted and Yelena actually shrugged.

"It worked didn't it?" Yelena looked at Kate with concern.

"They want to look at your arm." The blonde gestured the somewhat concerned looking Paramedics.

"My arm? Oh! Can you fix it here? It's kind of my wedding." Kate stood up again as if she was over what had just been bothering her so much.

"We will see. Come get in the van, it's at least relatively sterile." The senior paramedic smiled reassuringly. Kate just nodded and followed them with Yelena right beside her.

"So can you fix it here?" Kate asked several minutes after getting into the back of the van.

"We can but you might be better going to the hospital. It's going to be uncomfortable." The older of the two male paramedics offers.

"Yeah I figured but… this is my wedding." Kate pouted at the man.

"You mentioned. Fine. But don't complain when it hurts." The man spoke firmly, Kate ahead stripped down to her singlet undershirt.

"I won't." Kate grins getting comfortable.

Yelena sat there quietly and watched Kate, she wasn't about to tell the younger woman what she could and couldn't do. If Kate didn't want to go to the hospital Yelena wouldn't make her and it wasn't because she didn't want her to make sure she looked after herself properly. It had a lot more to do with the fact that Kate was spiralling towards a break down and Yelena didn't know how to stop it. So she wouldn't. But she would definitely be there.

Kate grit her teeth but for the most part she knew she just had to grin and bear it. Which she did and she was quiet the whole time barely making a sound even when they dug the bullet out and stitched her up. She was cleaned up patched up and then she was sent on her way. Yelena with her every step as they made their way back to the party that had been slow to start back up again. The moment she walked in Laura and Melina were there fussing.

"I'm alright. Come on let's just enjoy the rest of the night. We just got married." Kate smiled just a little too brightly to be genuine and Clint walked over and pulled off his shirt and handed it to Kate.

Kate didn't hesitate to put it on and button it up and Yelena even helped her tuck it into her pants before Kate went over to where Pepper and Morgan were. It was about then that Carol, Cassie, Wanda and Natasha walked over to Clint, Laura, Yelena and Melina.

"So how long before she loses it you think?" Cassie asked the question on all their minds.

"Not long. I'm going to kill Eleanor." Yelena grit her teeth angrily.

"You'll stay well away. You'll be there for your wife when she needs you. You're not an Avenger remember." Melina spoke up clearly then. Yelena opened her mouth to argue but Melina gave her a look.

"Mama." Yelena whined.

"No." Melina was firm and Yelena huffed.

Carol was in the kitchen the following morning which Yelena wasn't overly surprised by. Natasha and Wanda had left before Yelena and Kate the night before and they hadn't seen Carol again since. Yelena and Kate weren't going to their honey moon for a week yet as they had to much to do first. So they'd all ended up at home.

"Coffee?" Carol asks the new bride.

"Please." Yelena was already dressed and the stood and looked over Carol for a moment.

"Was it what you hoped it would be?" Yelena asks after a quiet moment.

"Better. How is she?" Carol glanced towards Yelena and Kate's room.

"She got really drunk and then when we got home she cried herself to sleep." Yelena sighs.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I can't imagine what sort of parent would do that to a child." Carols expression darkened.

"It's alright as far the standard wedding night is concerned. I'm not… I don't have a high… uh." Yelena frowned lifting her hands to her loose hair and starting to pull it back in a braid. Carol walked over with a hot cup of coffee and held it out.

Yelena wasn't overly surprised when she took the cup and Carol moved around behind her and started braiding her hair for her. Carol was the strong silent type it seemed, she didn't seem to say too much at all but she was always watching and observing. Yelena wasn't sure why, given how jealous she had gotten at Kate's initial reaction to the woman, why she liked her so much.

"That's ok. Mines not overly high either or I'd find it entirely hellish spending so much time in deep space alone." Carol chuckled and Yelena wrinkled her nose.

"Doesn't it get lonely?" Yelena had never been entirely cut off. Even under Dreykov's control she had still be around and able to communicate with people for the most part.

"Terribly. More so these days, now that there isn't really an Avengers team and everyone is doing their own thing." Carol frowns a little.

"Well… I'd say you've a place here any and every time you're back earth-side. Especially considering how reserved Wanda can be with people." Yelena offers seriously.

"You and Kate don't mind me here?" Carol asks taking the hair tie when Yelena held it back to her.

"Kate most certainly would not mind you here and the answer to my next question will tell me whether I mind." Yelena offered somewhat cryptically as Carol moved back around and got her own cup of coffee.

"Which is?"

"Do you want to come and see Eleanor with me? I think it's time I introduce myself." Yelena sipped her coffee.

"Yes." Was Carols almost immediate reply.

While she didn't know either Kate or Yelena too terribly well, she had spent some time with Yelena and Natasha shortly after Natasha had been found and woken on Vormir. Kate not as much but in the somewhat rare correspondence she got from Natasha and Wanda in the past she had been kept fairly well informed on the younger couple. Kate had nearly died in her attempt to rescue a bunch of children from a psychopath so that won her some points. And the fact she ran into traffic for a dog.

"Perfect. Hurry up with your coffee." Yelena had no intention of Kate finding out so she wanted to go before her no doubt hungover bride woke up.

"Oh. And welcome to the family." Yelena added with a little smirk before taking a larger sip of her coffee and then moving off the find herself some shoes. Carol couldn't help a little grin.

"Visitation is Tuesday and Thursday." Was the comment the pair were greeted with little more than an hour later.

"I know. But I need to see Eleanor Bishop." Yelena spoke a little coldly, it was her way.

"I don't much care what you want. Visitation is Tuesday and Thursday." The woman frowns deeply.

"I don't want to see Eleanor… I need to see her and I will see her today." Yelena clenched her jaw.

"Visitation is Tuesday and Thursday." It made Yelena's fists clench.

"Cyka." Yelena growled only Carol stepped forward then. Or more she stepped up behind Yelena and loomed.

"We really need to speak with Eleanor before she can contact someone else and order another hit on my friend here. Who also happens to be Eleanor's daughter in law." Carol gave an entirely false smile as she gestured at Yelena without breaking eye contact.

"Wait. What? She did what? You're Kate Bishops girlfriend?" The guard looked surprised by all this.

"Wife. I'm her wife. We were married yesterday and when Eleanor's hit man couldn't get a shot off at me he shot my wife instead." Yelena's tone was not even slightly friendly. She was entirely pissed off.

"Man this is… hold on." The guard stepped back from the window and hit a button.

A moment later a second guard walked in. This one was male and didn't look overly happy with how early he was being bothered by people. The woman gestured to Carol and Yelena before looking back to the guard.

"This is Kate Bishops wife. Apparently Eleanor ordered a hit on her but the guy got Kate as collateral." The woman spoke and the guys expression changed to sympathetic.

"Wow, I'm sorry to hear that." He offered genuinely.

"She's not dead, you idiot. I would not be asking to see Eleanor if she was. Half this place would be raised to the ground if my wife was dead." Yelena scowled darkly just at the thought of it.

"Oh! Ok god, that's better. I prefer that. Shit. Kids been trying to contact the old hag for months I feel bad. I'll get Bishop but… you're not going to kill her or something right? I mean you're an avenger, avengers don't kill people for things like this?" He looked from Yelena to Carol who just shrugged.

"I'm an Avenger… it's kind of in the name that I Avenge people and my friend was shot so…" Carol was so dry and casual about it that the chuckle that left the guard was entirely nervous.

Needless to say not much else was said. The two women were buzzed through and the guard lead them to the visitor room where they both refused to sit down. Instead they stood and waited while the guard went and got Eleanor. They had been checked for weapons and while Yelena had on her Widow Stingers the guards didn't know that. They were highly confused by Carol though as the woman was a living weapon but in the end they turned a blind eye to it.

When Eleanor was lead into the room she was looking a mix of smug and curious. It was clear she didn't really know who either of the blondes were or why they looked so severe. Yelena shifted on her feet and her expression darkened at the sight of Eleanor while Carol looked the woman up and down clearly sizing her up. Eleanor stepped up to them as she would anyone else but before she could speak the smaller Blonde punched her hard in the face.

"Shit." Yelena winced and shook her hand a little before Carol grabbed it lightly and looked at it. It was bruised from the night before but Yelena was strong so she doubt it was broken.

"What the fuck!?" Eleanor put her hand to her mouth, her lip was split and her cheek was already starting to bruise.

"That was for your daughter." Yelena scowls darkly.

"My daughter…. You're her aren't you? The woman?" Eleanor was scowling.

"Yelena, my name is Yelena. Not only am I your daughter in law, Kate's wife. But I'm also the woman you hired to kill Clint Barton last year. I'm glad to say I failed, he and his wife have been better parents to her than I'd wager you ever had been." Yelena growls the words and Eleanor's eyes widened.

"You don't have any idea what you're talking about, little girl." Eleanor scowls darkly and Yelena laughs, it was cold.

"Don't I? The only thing you ever did right was pretend. You let her do what she thought she had to and she thought she had to do it to protect the likes of you. Protecting people became her whole life and it's a bit of a cruel joke no?" Yelena looked both amused and curious at Eleanor.

"What's that?" Eleanor was dubious.

"She's spent all this time training to be protector and the one person who should have been there to protect her is the one person causing her the most damage." Carol spoke then, she didn't know them super well but she knew Kate well enough to know this about her.

"Your hit man refused to shoot me because Nate and Morgan were too close. Instead he shot Kate." Yelena sniffs as she glared at Eleanor who, to her credit, looked immediately worried.

"Is she…" Eleanor looked between the blondes.

"She saw him at the last moment and was able to move just enough. Had she not, she would have been killed." Carol placed her hand on Yelena's back when the younger woman shifted, clearly uncomfortable at the thought.

"Ty trus. Vy obvinyayete yeye v svoyem vybore. Ty zdes' iz-za sebya, a ne iz-za neye." Yelena was upset and slipped into Russian. This only ever seemed to happen where Kate was involved anymore but Yelena failed to even think in English when she was upset over her wife. Eleanor looked confused though.

"She said you're a coward. That you blame Kate but you're in here because of your own choices not Kate's. She's right too. Blaming your child is a cop out. You knew who Kate was before you did what you did. The best you can do anymore is leave her alone. Leave her family alone and let her find her happiness instead of trying to take it from her." Carol interpreted before adding on herself.

"Just who exactly do you think you are to be talking for my child?" Eleanor didn't like this at all. She didn't like this sudden guilt she was feeling.

"She's part of our family." Yelena fired back in rather accented English.

"All you have to do, Eleanor. Is leave them alone. Kate's tried. And I'm sure she'd keep trying. But you told her not too, you told her she wasn't family anymore. Leave her alone, or let her be there for you as much as she can be. But don't try and take away what makes her happy." Carol implored and Eleanor shifted a little but lifted her head looking too proud to say anything.

"Let me put it to you this way. This is Yelena, she's a Black Widow assassin and their reputation precedes them yes? And me? I'm Carol Danvers, and should you keep on down this path and something actually happen to Kate or anyone in her family… if I find out you're even remotely connected you won't have to worry about your life sentence in here." Carols tone dropped with the deadly promise and Eleanor shifted uncomfortably.

"I… I won't. I won't try anything else. But I don't want to see her. I don't want to hear from her. She is better off without me in her life." Eleanor sighed defeated.

"That should be her choice to make." Yelena looked genuinely sad.

"Not this time." Eleanor looked at the guard who looked to Carol who nodded.

Yelena didn't have anything else to say. Instead she looked at Eleanor as the woman left and then turned to Carol who offered a gentle reassuring smile before they headed out. They were quiet as they went to the car but no sooner where they in and belted up was Yelena's phone ringing.

"Lenny, where are you? Did you see Carol at all this morning she wasn't here when we woke up. I feel like she cut and run." Natasha rambled into the phone.

"What!? No she didn't. She's with me. We went out for a breakfast run. We will be home really soon. How is my archer?" Yelena rolled her eyes amused.

"Carols with you? She didn't leave?" Natasha actually seemed surprised.

"Did you want her too?" Yelena sounded confused and looked at a really amused Carol.

"Of course not! Wanda and I aren't like that! We never would have had her over if we hadn't wanted her to stay. Even without all of that Carol and I are good friends." Natasha defended immediately and Yelena handed the phone over when Carol held her hand out.

"You're cute when you're freaking out. But I promise I didn't love you both and leave you. That's not my style. Yelena and I just went for breakfast that's all. Now… how is Kate?" Carol asked the question again.

"Oh… well good. Um… Kate and Wanda have fallen back to sleep on the couch. Kate pouted about Lenny not being there when she woke up and Wanda woke up tired so they cuddled and now they're asleep." Natasha explained looking over at the pair from the kitchen.

"We will be back soon. Greasy breakfast food will help Kate's hangover and Wanda's energy." Carol couldn't help a little smirk, she recalled just how depleted Wanda had been the night before. She'd been the first to tap out.

"See you both soon." Natasha chuckled likely thinking along the same lines. Yelena rolled her eyes and took her phone back when Carol hung up.
