-This story was sent to me by someone. They came up with Eden's back story and the foundation of this story. I just gave it a a few changes and added the talk with Dandhi and Eden to expand on their characters-
The sun was dipping below the horizon. Inside the palace Aladdin and his friends were beginning to set up for game night. Genie had set up the food table, though mysteriously half of the popcorn he set on the table had vanished. Genie brushed off thinking he was hungry. Aladdin and Jasmine were sitting in their seats. Aladdin was shuffling the cards and Jasmine was sorting the game pieces. The sultan and Carpet were nearby.
"You know what would make this more fun?" Genie asked the group.
"What more pizza?" Aladdin asked, biting into a piece.
"If Eden and Dandhi were here to play with us!"
"Oh are you sure Genie? They might be busy,"
"I don't think they would mind. Besides I have been dying to see Eden again,"
"If you want to, you can. But you're responsible to get in touch with them," Aladdin said.
"Bet!" Genie said. He snapped his fingers and then brushed off his palms.
"That's it?" Jasmine and Aladdin asked in unison.
"Yup!"
Meanwhile in Dandhi's house:
"Ohhh yum! Good choice for dinner. I love Falafel!" Eden said.
"You really do?" Dandhi asked.
"Yes!"
"Cool!"
"So what should we do tonight? We could play Dungeons and Donkeys!" Eden suggested.
"Oh uh-" Suddenly a letter appeared on the table.
"Oh look a letter!" Eden opened the letter.
Dear fellow Genie. I am pleased to inform you that you are invited to game night at the palace with Aladdin and Co. See you then. -Big Blue
"Oh game night!"
"Oh?"
"Aladdin and company are having game night. Want to go?"
"What about our falafel? Won't it go bad?"
"We can take it there so everyone can enjoy it! What do you say?"
"Yeah! Maybe the princess could braid my hair again. I have been growing it out…" she said, playing with a loose piece of it.
Within seconds the twos falafel dinner was packed into boxes.
"Don't forget this!" Eden said, giving Dandhi her lamp.
Then Eden snapped her fingers and the two were transported into the Agrabah Palace.
"See told ya it would work!" Genie said. Then he noticed Eden comforting Iago who she had squished. But once she saw Genie she dropped him and flew over to Genie.
"Hey Big Blue, nice to see you again!" Eden said, jumping into Genie grasp.
"It's nice to see you too!"
As Genie and Eden were talking to one another Dandhi was looking at the food. There was a large amount of party snacks. She didn't know what to choose.
"If you want my opinion I enjoy the popcorn. Though half of it does seem to have disappeared," Jasmine told Dandhi.
"Oh hi princess Jasmine. Do you think you could braid my hair again?" She asked
"Of course I can. I see it's gotten longer,"
"Yay!"
"We can do it during dinner,"
"Fun!"
As Jasmine helped Dandhi get some food, Genie and Eden were sitting at the table. The sultan and Carpet were as well. Once the two girls sat down the two everyone started to eat their food.
"So do we want to play a game?" Genie asked.
"I think it would be best if we all finished our meals first," Aladdin told him.
"Ok then what should we do while we eat?"
"We should tell stories!" Dandhi suggested.
"Oh I have one. It's about a very handsome prince who just so happened to find a very funny blue guy in a cave. And he just too happened to have fallen in love with a very hot lady-"
"Uh Genie. I think they know what story it is. Why don't you just tell it like normal and Aladdin can help," Jasmine butted it.
"Oh right. So like I said Aladdin was poor and he had fallen in love with Jasmine…"
As Genie and Aladdin had told the story about how they first met, Eden couldn't help but feel sorta happy for Genie. He watched as he proudly told the story and transformed into different creatures to act out the story. The others and Dandhi laughed as he did so. However her happiness soon turned into sadness when he got to the part about Jafar accidently wishing himself into a Genie. And even more when he got to the part about him being free. Eden looked at Genie and then her shackles. And then Dandhi. Soon everyone cheered as Genie wrapped up the story. Everyone but Eden that is and it didn't go unnoticed.
"Eden what's wrong?" Jasmine asked, "You don't look happy to hear the story," she added as she started to braid Dandhi's hair.
"Oh what- uh- no I'm fine," Eden lied.
"Uh uh uh. I can smell a lie from a million miles away, thanks to this guy," he said looking at Aladdin, "Somethings up,"
"Really it's nothing," she lied again, "Guys just eat your food,"
"Eden, is it something to do with Genie being free and you not?" Jasmine asked. The princess had noticed her face change when Genie got to the part about Jafar and the being free.
"Darn it Jaz nothing gets past you. You literally can sense any emotion," Eden said in defeat.
"Eden, you can tell us anything," Gene said, floating over to her.
"You guys are having a great time though. I don't want me to ruin your happy moment,"
"Eden, it's what friends do. They look out for one another. We won't mind,"
"Are you sure?" Eden asked. Even thought she knew it was a dumb question. She was already too deep. She would be telling what's on her mind no matter what.
"Fine… to start it would be helpful to know that Genies can't be born. They have to be wished, cursed, or something else," she explained. Genie hung his head low, it was something he knew all too well, "It was around 2000 years ago. In the city of Dibigriah, I was just like you Aladdin and Dandi. I was poor, roaming around like a vulture for something to eat…"
Flash back:
In the streets a no older than 12 year old black haired girl was wandering the streets. She had been an orphan for as long as she could remember. Mother had died shortly after birth and her father had left her. She had managed so long as a poor girl on the streets. However as she grew more and more so did her thoughts. Through nights on end she would wonder why her parents had abandoned her and what she was in the situation she was in. She saw so many other kids with families and homes. She had noticed they had warm meals, why was she any different. As the young girl grew more as well did her longing for something. She didn't know what, she just wanted something. A purpose she told herself.
The girl had stumbled upon a small part of town. It seemed like a small marketplace. Curious, she walked down to it. The 12 year old girl cautiously entered the unfamiliar place. That's when she noticed a box. She looked around and once she confirmed the coast was clear the young girl opened the box. The continents made her mouth drop. Inside was a bunch of fresh apples.
'What kind of person can just let this go to waste?' she thought to herself.
Quickly she grabbed as many as she could carry and booked it out of the marketplace. However what she failed to notice inside one of the houses was a pair of eyes watching her. The apples were not unused. In Fact they weren't even abandoned. The person thought of going after her but they had a more sinister plan.
The next night rolled around and the young girl was back in the spot. She had struck gold, she thought. The girl opened the same box. Inside were apples as well as some bread. Happy, the girl quickly grabbed as much as she could and booked it out. But she didn't make it far before she heard shouting.
"Get her!" The guard yelled. The man had contacted the guards after seeing the girl and together they planned a surprise attack on the small girl.
The girl ran as fast as she could but it wasn't enough. Soon she felt someone's hand on her shoulder. She was then pushed to the ground forcefully. Then she was taken by her arm and aggressively pulled away. Though she struggled she was no match for the guards.
After a ride full of tears and cries the girl was thrown into the dungeon. The girl frantically looked around. Inside the dungeon she spotted other people. However they were much older men. They looked like murders and other things she didn't dare to think of. This was no place for a young girl like her to be. All she did was take some food. Throughout the restless night the girl's mind wondered. Why was the kingdom's system so corrupt? How come stealing food was considered as bad as murdering dozens of people. What has the world become she thought.
Though she wasn't thinking for long because soon the young girl entered dreamland. As much as being in the dungeon suckled at least she had a "bed" to sleep on.
The girl was woken up quickly as her cell door flung open. She quickly jolted out of bed but she was stopped when another guard grabbed her by her hair. The girl cried as the guard forcefully dragged her out of the cell and down the hall. Apart from her cries the hall echoed with sounds of grunting, yelling, curses, and other horrible sounds. The girl was then brought to a man. He was dressed in robes. He was young, around 30, but that didn't block the fact that he had a cold heart. This man was Dibigriahs vizier. He was in charge of all the crimes and punishments dealt out.
"What do we have here?" he asked in a deep voice.
"A young girl. She was caught stealing food last night," the guard responded.
"Please I-" she tried to say but the guard put his hand over her mouth.
"I would punish you by execution but to avoid getting in trouble with the Sultan I must avoid that punishment. The next best thing would be exile,"
The girl gasped, "What did I do wrong?!"
"You broke the law. Listen sweetie I'm doing you a favor sparing you from death. Take her away!"
Quickly the girl was taken away forcefully. She was forced to walk down the city in front of all people with her hands tied. If the people were to protest against them they would be punished by death on orders. Though the sight of a young girl being exiled was a first it was the first time something like this had happened. The people were used to it which is why no one stepped in to protest. It was just too much of a risk.
The young girl looked back one last time at the city before being thrown out of the city. The doors slammed behind her and she heard heavy footsteps walk away. Alone and scared of the kingdom she once called home she quickly ran away into the desert not looking back.
Eden began to shake and tear up as she explained how embarrassing it was to walk down the city. Her friends could only comfort her as she explained. But even they knew it wasn't enough to break her from the hurt she had carried.
In the desert it was lonely. There was no human interaction in sight. All she could see was sand. But that didn't stop her. The girl wouldn't stop walking until she couldn't anymore. She didn't care if she died. To the world she was no one. The girl walked over dunes and sand for more miles. Many times she would think to lay down, but she knew she couldn't. Now it was no different than before. She was walking dune after dune. The girl was looking down lost in thought. Just then she was taken out of her trance when she saw a shadow quickly fly by. The girl looked up and saw a bird. Shocked, she followed the bird as best she could.
'Maybe the bird knows where a civilization is nearby," she thought.
As she followed the bird she was amazed to have stumbled upon an oasis. The girl gasped at the sight of the thing and quickly ran to it. As she stumbled through the sand, dune after dune, the girl thought.
'Is this real?'
The girl made it to the sacred haven. Inside of the thick trees was a spring river. The water was clear, from above you could see each and every fish swimming in it. She then brought her attention to the canopy above. There she saw birds of colors flying above. She watched as the bird she followed before flew past some coconuts. Suddenly hungry, the girl walked up to the tree and began to climb it. As she climbed more and more the ground became further and further away from her. At the top she began to pry the coconuts from their stems. It was hard. Needing a breather she looked down. Her mouth dropped at the sight below here. Above was even better than on the ground. She could see that the river running through the oasis fed into a giant pond further beyond. She saw lush evergreen as the eye could see. It truly was heaven on earth.
"And to think that all this is for me! What could be better-" she stopped when the coconut she was pulling came loose and fell out of her grasps. She watched as the coconut fell. She then watched it hit something… hard? Once it hit the thing it split open.
"At least I don't have to bother opening it," she said out loud as she climbed down the tree. As the girl drank the coconut milk she began to search in the plants for what could have the coconut hit on its way down. Then she spotted it. It was a sharp pointed end object. Curious, the girl picked up the item. It was a bottle. It was dark in color, with dark purple stripes on it. Without thinking she rubbed the bottle. Suddenly the girl was engulfed in dark purple smoke. As she finished her coughing fit she was astonished to see a big giant dark purple smoke like being. She stared wide eyed with her mouth hanging ajar.
'Was this real?' she thought.
"Who goes there?" the thing asked. Then it looked down and saw the girl, "Oh."
"I- I-"
"I what? What are you?"
"I'm Eden,"
"A Eden huh? Never heard of one,"
"No, my name is Eden. I'm a human,"
"Oh. I see. Well I'm a djinn. A wish making all powerful being,"
"Oh. What's your name?" Eden asked.
"Why do you care?"
Eden didn't respond and just gulped.
"Anyway, enough introductions. What do you wish for?"
"Wish for?"
"Yes, wish for. It's quite simple…"
Eden just stared as the djinn rambled on about rules of wish making and things to avoid,"
"Oh I understand. Hmmm…" Eden thought for a long time about what her first wish should be. She only had 3 chances to make her life worth something again. Then she thought back to her days back when she was in her kingdom. Late at night how she would wonder about her purpose in life and how it wasn't fair.
"So have you decided?"
"Yes I have. For my first wish I wish for a safe home and a purpose in life,"
The djinn nodded and then zapped her. Eden was surrounded by purple smoke. Suddenly she felt strange. She watched in horror as her legs formed into smoke and her skin turned a aqua green. She gasped at the sight. A bright light then flashes blinding Eden for a moment. When she opened her eyes she was shocked. The djinn then pulled out a mirror and faced it toward her.
"What did you do to me?! I look just like you!"
"Exactly! That's the point,"
"What do you mean? Turn me back to a human now!"
"You asked for a safe home and a purpose. Being a Genie gives you both. A safe home where you can make food out of thin air and a purpose to grant peoples wishes,"
Eden felt an immense amount of rage boil up inside of her, "YOU LIAR YOU KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT!"
"It's not my fault you didn't listen to me. I warned you not to be too vague with your wishes,"
Eden was about to pounce at the djinn but her attention was brought to a new lamp being formed below her.
"What is that?" she asked.
"A djinn without a master… goes in its lamp,"
Eden gasped and tried to pull away. But it was too late. Eden cried as she was sucked into the lamp. Meanwhile the dark djinn just smirked as he entered his lamp.
"And that's the story about how I became a Genie," Eden finished.
"Oh Eden I had no idea," Genie started.
"Don't worry Genie. I'm definitely in a better place.
"How did you end up in Agrabah?" Jasmine asked as she finished tying Dandhi's braid.
"I was brought here by my last master. But I don't remember her name,"
"I'm sorry you went through all of that," Genie said.
"You don't have to be,"
"I should be sorry…" Dandhi butted in.
"What?" Genie and Eden asked.
"I should have freed you when I had the chance. I was just so selfish thinking only of me when I was using my last wish. I just didn't want you to leave but I ended up just making things worse!"
"Dandhi don't say that," Eden said, trying to comfort the young girl.
"But you were about to finally get the life that you always wanted and then my dumb but ruined it!" she cried before getting up from Jasmine's lap and running out of the door.
The room was left in complete silence for a bit. Eden hung her head low. She had waited so long to tell everyone her story because she didn't want something like this to happen. Dandhi was too young to understand. She needed more time.
"Eden?" Genie asked, putting his hand on her shoulder. Eden however just moved his hand away.
"I have to go after her. You guys stay here," she said, floating out of view.
After some searching Eden found her young master out in the garden. She was sitting by the tree that Jasmine had used to escape. Eden floated over to the young girl. She poofed her smoke tail into legs and sat down next to the young girl.
"I'm so sorry. I had no idea you went through all of that,"
"Dandhi, you had nothing to do with that. It was my mistake for making my wish-"
"No, not about the wish! I it's about my last wish,"
"Are you still holding guilt?"
Dandhi moved in for a hug and then cried into Eden's lap. It was enough to answer her question. Eden just sat there holding the girl as she cried. Eden thought. It had been one year since she had made her wish. Dandhi was just shy of how old she was when her life changed forever. But in a way Eden thought that her being a Genie was a good thing. She just needed to tell Dandhi that somehow.
"Dandhi I understand your pain, I really do. And I'm sorry that you have held all this guilt back for so long. But you don't have to,"
"I know… it's just that seeing you and Genie together makes me sad. It just makes me think of how happier you could be if I just set you free. But instead I tied you to me forever!"
"I know it might be hard to believe but my wish is answered. Just not in that moment,"
"What do you mean?"
"It's all you Dandhi. You answered my wish. A home isn't just some place, it's the memories you make. And I've made so many memories with you. Unlike my other master. Home is where the heart is, and you are my heart. And you always will be no matter what. You are the best master any Genie would have wanted,"
"And what about the purpose,"
"My purpose is to take care of you. It's to feed you and make you feel at home. Together we're a team. And we always will be,"
"Thanks to me…" Dandhi said referencing her last wish.
"Hey look at me," Eden said, grabbing the girl's face, "I care about you Dandhi more than anything else. You are my favorite person ever. That's I bent the rules for you because I didn't want you to end up like me,"
"Eden sometimes I wonder that if I did set you free then you would just leave me to be with genie forever. And then I'd be alone again…" she cried.
"I would never leave you Dandhi,"
"I know… but it's a thought that has been on my mind lately,"
"Remember how I said you're my favorite person?"
"I'm like the only person you've ever met!"
Eden looked into Dandhi's eyes. Trying to think of something to say. And for the first time Eden saw herself. She noticed how Dandhi had the same thoughts and ideas that she had all those years ago. Dandhi was an orphan like her, she was lonely like her, she had lingering unanswered questions, like her.
"Dandhi you may be one of the only nice people I have met. But for the first time I can see someone who was just like me. Who was alone and had thoughts. I see a strong young woman who will make history. I see someone with fire, a passion. I see myself in you. But you aren't bound by shackles. You can do it, Dandhi. That's why you're my favorite and always will be. You are the person that I wanted to be when I grew up. And I want you to succeed I really do,"
"But Eden, how can you say that?"
"Because it's true. I see myself in you,"
Dandhi looked at Eden and then leapt into her arms. They hugged for what seemed like an eternity. For once they both felt safe in each others arms.
"Eden. I know what we have to do. But I'm scared,"
Eden looked at Dandhi confused.
"I know we have to do this. But I don't want to be alone again,"
It was at this moment Eden understood what she was wanting to do.
"I can promise you that once this is done that you will always be the best thing to ever happen to me. Always,"
Back in the palace:
Aladdin and his friends were sitting at the table. Aladdin was laying his head on the table moving the game pieces around. Carpet was laying around and Jasmine was playing with a loose piece of hair. Suddenly laughing could be heard from down the hall. The group looked up from what they were doing to see Eden come in with Dandhi on her back.
"Eden! It's good to see you back!"
"Oh thanks. We just needed some alone time to talk," Eden said.
Dandhi slid off of Eden's back. She then took Eden's bottle and walked up the Aladdin.
"You have some experience freeing Genie. Please let my friend free and release the bound that tied us together,"
Genie's mouth dropped and Jasmine just stared in awe.
Aladdin took the bottle in his hand, "Are you sure Dandhi,"
"It's what's best. For the best friend I could have ever asked for,"
Aladdin nodded and then rubbed the lamp.
"Eden for my first wish I wish for your bounds between you and Dandhi to be brought to a end,"
With that oras took themselves from both of the girls. The group watched as two aqua green magic oras danced around the room before colliding with each other and bursting.
"Eden for my second wish I wish for your freedom,"
Eden suddenly watched as her bottle floated up in mid air. She saw magic beams floating around her tail and then poofed away. Everyone watched as her shackles broke from her hands and disintegrated in the air. With that the bottle showed one last time before falling to the ground. Dandhi looked at the bottle and then smiled.
Eden laughed and cried. She then ran over to Dandhi and gave her another big hug. Everyone in the room, especially Aladdin, began to have Deja fu.
"Eden I'm going to miss you,"
"Miss me? I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to stay with Genie here in the palace so you'll always know where to find me,"
"And you are welcome to stay," Jasmine added, looking at Dandhi.
"You mean I can live here with you guys?"
Jasmine nodded as her and Aladdin looked at each other. The room was filled with cheering and laughing for the rest of the night. And Abu finally did show up with a mouthful of popcorn.
The End
Ps: For some odd reason Dandhi and Eden are not options for characters when choosing what characters to add. Which is odd, I hope they fix that. :)
