So, Another PJO story. Just another kinda interesting idea. So, I will be using a specific story for the powers of some of the demi-gods that got the shit end of the stick for their powers. Demigod powers by Trap Dragon is an amazing set of powers coming from a creative mind. Now, some of them could be a little OP if they had a bit more stamina, but hey, I'm not complaining. So show him(I'm pretty sure it's a dude) some love folks.
Chapter 1
Prologue-ish
Neon P.O.V
Yeah, yeah, being a demi-god sucks...so I hear. I'm 90% sure something is slightly different than me. I won't know the truth until much later, which is fine by me. Now if you think you are a demigod, good for you buddy, maybe if you show up at camp your parent would love you enough to remember you were created. Chances aren't looking too high for you though. Whatever godly parent you have probably just forgot to pull out and left.
But hey, I'm not too salty. In exchange most for having at least one parent who doesn't care about you, you normally get some kind of dope power. Unless you got the shit end of the stick, then your screwed. My powers? Well, that's not important.
So anyway, my name is Neon, call me N, I prefer it. I'm a young Asian American that got forced into greek mythology. My sister as well. Before my life got crazy, which was around the age of 12, I had lived fairly peacefully.
Until I had shown some signs that I was Bipolar, and they decided to put me in Yancy academy, the school for the rich, the troubled, and a bunch of idiots.
.
"Are you sure this will be alright?" I asked as I walked back up to our small apartment, just finishing bringing all of our bags into the car. "You know, this place is expensive, I'd hate for you to waste money on this."
My mom gave me a tired smile as she reached up to ruffle my hair. "It's alright Neon, I was told this was the best place for now"
My mother is a very hard-working person, that much is to be expected from a single Asian mother. She was kinda short, but then again, Asian, and had decently long black hair and a set of warm brown eyes that fit her fair skin tone nicely.
Unfortunately, my sister and I had taken after our unknown father in terms of skin tone. I was very lanky and starting to grow tall. I had an almost bronze skin tone with dark brown eyes that is sometimes mistaken for black, and to top it off, a messy head of black hair. Yeah, I'm no Adonis, but I get by. My sister on the other hand-
"I'm ready~" She called out with her tone quite melodious. She strolled into the room like she owned the place. Her long floral dress flowed nicely behind her, and her silly black hair fluttered like a butterfly behind her. People like to describe my sister as a drop-dead gorgeous Anglic model that fell from the sky.
Guys(and girls) claim that all forms of light illuminate her facial proportions perfectly, and they smell roses and see her with this halo. Basically, they all become love-sick puppies, they try to write poetry but it mainly sounds cheesy. Or just plain bad.
"No one asked~" I called back to her mockingly.
She rushed forward, dropping her perfect girl act to slam her fist into my chest with all the force in her small body. If you couldn't guess, I barely felt it and she felt like she broke her wrist.
"Come on you two! Don't want to be late!" Our mom called to us as she headed out.
Soon enough, I was in the shotgun seat, listening to my sister snore lightly in the backseat. We have been in the car for around 6 minutes, special 'power' of hers is to fall asleep anywhere, any time.
I noticed my mom was tapping her fingers against the steering wheel anxiously.
"Mom, you ok over there?" I asked, being the caring son I am.
"Yeah I'm...alright..." She trailed off as her eyes traveled off into the distance, after I followed her gaze and found nothing, her attention jolted back to the road. "You know if you need anything, there is a card in the glove box, just do what it says and maybe your dad might help you."
I felt my blood freeze. "My- my dad?"
"Neon, I know you might have some resentment in your heart but he isn't all that bad" But the way she said it made it sound like she was trying to convince herself.
"So you expect me to just forgive him if he pulls through for me once after he made me ANA Suki?" I felt my tone become guarded.
"Actually, he's just your father...Suki is...from another man. Very similar, but different" My mom winced as she said that.
I felt my brain shut down. We had different fathers? So what does that make us? Half siblings? Nah, Suki is my sis any day of the week but that's why I knew nothing about my dad. He dipped after I was born and never looked back!
I felt a bubble of anger rise in my chest. Who the hell did he think he was?
"Neon, understand that neither of your fathers could have stayed longer than they did. If they had...you'd both be in danger"
What? Did they borrow money from the mafia and failed to return it or something?
"There are forces they can't mess with, that's why I need you to stay with your sister and make sure that you guys are safe."
Our eyes met, suddenly a vision hit me, it was my mom tearfully hugging me and Suki outside of what I think is Yancy. I blinked.
"Jaden, I never noticed, your eyes have golden flecks in them," She said thoughtfully. "I don't remember my baby boy having eyes like that"
I glanced forward, wondering if she was messing with me, so I pulled down the little car mirror and sure enough, my eyes were flecked with little bits of gold.
That's new...Maybe some weird genetic thing.
Soon enough we were shrugging our bags into our new dorm rooms, and all the paperwork was filled.
Right before she left, our mom gave us a tear-filled hug.
That's just cause I know my mother well...right?
I thought to myself as I felt myself stiffen in the hug.
Soon enough she left and I noticed a guy around our age pulling around some luggage.
I quickly hurried over. "Hey! let me help you with that." I called as I jogged forward, while Suki headed off to do god knows what.
"Thanks, it's appreciated." He said as I took half of his load.
"No problem, I'm N Ajax," I said offering him a free hand.
His sea-green eyes met mine. "Percy. Percy Jackson"
"Nice to meet you Percy, are you one of the rich snobs here or a kid with 'issues' like I am?" I asked, gauging his reaction. Which was a good one.
He laughed. "Ha! I wish I had half the cash these idiots had"
"You and me both, I know I wouldn't waste it like some of the people inside." I felt a grin slip on my face.
"N, you got some cool eyes. You wear contacts?" He asked peering a bit closer.
"Uh, no. I think it's some weird genetic thing." I said, better to just tell the truth now.
"Nice" we walked in, and soon enough found out Percy was in the same dorm as me.
After our first classes(which were a snooze feast if you ask me), and during lunch, Percy and I talked some more and learned my sister already had a fan club.
As Suki walked past, she waved in our general direction. Percy let out a low whistle. "What I'd do for a girl like that..."
I lightly punched his shoulder. "Keep your eyes off my sister"
Percy, who was taking a bite out of a sandwich, started to choke. "Your-*Cough* What?! *Cough*"
I patted his back. "Yup. That's my little sister, Suki Ajax, don't hit on her if you don't want me to break your arm or her to break your heart."
After he recovered, a boy with crutches was getting picked on by an orange monkey- I mean, an orange-haired girl...
"Hey leave him alone," I said as I walked over. "Maybe you should pick on someone your own size, the plus-size section is in aisle three just so you know"
"Why you little-" She growled and stomped up to my face.
I quickly placed a hand on my forehead. "Actually I'm a good inch taller than you. but your breath-" I waved a hand in front of my face. "That stink reaches unknown heights."
I could hear Percy struggling not to laugh too hard in the background.
"I should knock that stupid look off your dumb face" She growled, this time breathing in my face on purpose.
I mockingly put a hand to my head and leaned back slightly. "Oh, woe is me! I'm shakin' in me boots!"
She cocked her arm back, ready to throw a punch, but as she threw her punch, I knocked her fist to the side. Huh, that felt faster than normal.
I let out a low whistle, "Careful girl, I believe in true gender equality. You try and hit me like that again, I won't hesitate to show you that my momma didn't raise a bitch"
Very stupidly, she yanked her fist back and threw another punch. Which I caught, and in response, I rammed my knee into her gut. Not full force, just enough to hurt for a little while.
As she doubled over, I walked away. "I'll go get you an ice pack. Do you want to talk to a teacher? I can get one and we can tell them the whole story"
"I'm fine!" She nearly yelled.
I walked over to the kid on crutches. "Sup man, I'm N"
He hesitantly responded. "I'm Grover"
Grover was a fairly small kid, with dark skin, curly hair, and a small goatee. Maybe he failed a grade or two. Not my place to ask.
"Want to come eat with me and my friend Percy?" I asked, pointing a finger to my old seat. "If you want I can ask my sister to bring a friend or two of hers"
"N-no it's fine! I'll just eat with you and Percy." He said quickly.
When we walked back, I introduced the two. "Percy, this is Grover, Grover this is Percy. From now on, you two are best friends"
"What about you?" Percy asked.
"I'm just that third wheel. Don't mind me."
We all sat down and started up a conversation, and eventually, it circled around to me.
"So N, why do you like to be called just N? I'd assume your name isn't the best," Percy asked
"Yeah, know that you mention it, it is a bit odd to be named after a pokemon character" Grover commented
I snorted. "I have nothing in common with that green-haired dude, his fashion isn't nearly as good as mine. Anyway, my real name is Neon Ajax, full greek origins there."
"Really? Are you greek? I thought you were Chinese or something" Percy commented, as I fought back the urge to bash my skull into a wall.
"I thought he was some kind of Hispanic" Grover added. Ok, understandable
"Your both wrong and right. I'm Filipino, which was a group of Pacific Islanders near Asia until Spain came in and colonized it, I'm what is a modern-day Filipino, as for the greek thing, I'm honestly not too sure. Never met my dad." I explained.
"Woah"
"I see"
Suddenly, the raven-haired beauty, Suki sat next to me. "What's up, bro?"
"What do you want Suki?"
"I kinda set you up"
"With?"
"This guy named Ryan- I swear he's nice and all that jazz" She moved her arms around while she talked.
"He wanted to ask you out but you tried to push it on me" I deadpanned. "I'm not into guys, tell him I'm not interested."
Percy and Grover were exchanging looks. So I glanced over at them. "Don't get the wrong idea, she always says 'I set you up' and then if I ever show up, they expected her"
They started snickering. "Yeah, yeah, really funny."
"Come on~ just this last time!" Suki put her hands together and shook them. "Please!"
"You said that 30 times ago. No"
After that whole thing, we all went back to class. As I walked, I felt the hair on my neck stand up. My head snapped to the side, an old lady in a suit. Mr. Dodds according to her door.
Several days with Grover and Percy went pretty smoothly, although having to grind information into Percy's skull so he could get passing grades was difficult.
Closer to the end of the year, we managed not to ruin anything, yet. Sadly my somewhat peaceful life was going to come to a crashing halt.
And it all started with one subject. Pre-Algebra
