A/N: I have other unfinished stuff, yes. But with all the Beauty and the Beast chatter floating around after the NBC Upfronts... I literally cannot ignore this idea. This is my all-time favorite Disney movie and it deserves the exploration.

Once upon a time in the concrete jungle of New York City, a handsome detective worked in an overworked precinct. He had everything his heart desired, but he was brash, argumentative, and hot-headed.

One winter's night, he encountered a case that left him with a choice: let a perp go free or betray his brothers in blue. Repulsed by his partner's actions, but feeling he had no choice, he let the perp escape. His partner then warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for integrity is found within.

Then, his partner cold-cocked the handsome detective across the face and left him bleeding on the sidewalk. He passed out, and when he came to, he was in handcuffs. His partner, the dirty cop, turned him in for letting the perp go, to keep his secret hidden, and save his own skin.

Internal affairs, while unable to dismiss the handsome detective, yet, chose to humiliate him instead, giving him a baseless promotion and putting him in charge of a far-flung precinct in a laughable part of town. He was given five years to produce evidence that his ex-partner was truly the dirty cop, or be expelled from the NYPD.

He felt as if he had lost everything, including his handsome good looks. As the years passed, he fell into despair. Dirty cops were dirty for a reason, and now, with his reputation the way it was, who could he trust? No one.
