"The whole world is divided for me into two parts: one is she, and there is all happiness, hope, light; the other is where she is not, and there is dejection and darkness..."
― Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace
Raelle and Abigail had brewed this love potion batch to sell for Valentine's Day to get them a little extra money while in hiding. It just happened that everyone but Sarah and Tally had been told about it because they'd been out on patrol of the property they were staying on. Checking the wards and making sure nothing suspicious was happening.
So of course when the duo gets back to the house Tally pours a cup of whatever it is sitting in the fridge, "Wow, this tastes weird," Tally blanches as she forces the sip down.
Sarah joins her, taking the cup from her hand and sniffs it before taking a sip herself. Her face is impassive but clearly it does nothing for her as she passes the cup back to her, their fingers briefly touching. A lingering glance into each other's eyes before they're interrupted by Abigail coming down the stairs only to stop as she spots the container sitting on the counter. Worried eyes flickering from Tally to Sarah and to the cup between them.
"How much of that did you drink?"
"Well, hello to you too. We only took a sip," Tally places the cup on the counter, "It tastes weird."
"Oh, my goddess, Tally. Did you not hear me and Raelle say not to drink what was in that?" Abigail rushed over and grabbed the container from them, "You didn't see this warning sign on the container?" she pointed to the 'Do Not Drink' sign on the backside of the container.
"Sorry, Ab's, I wasn't paying attention."
"Seriously? What if this had been poison? And you," Abigail points at Sarah, "You're old enough to know better than to be drinking random things?"
Sarah raised an eyebrow, "Excuse me? It wasn't random. Tally drank it so I drank it."
"Oh, my goddess, you two are impossible. Do you have any idea what you two just drank?"
"Whatever it is it tastes weird," Tally just dumped the cup sitting on the counter down the drain.
"Hey! Don't waste it, we worked hard to make this. You guys just literally drank our love potion mix. We were going to sell it for a little extra cash this Valentine's Day."
Sarah scoffed, "Civilian holidays."
"Yes, which we're trying to exploit for money."
Sarah crossed her arms over her chest, "Smart thinking nonetheless, Bellweather."
"Thanks. Anyways, you guys, I don't know how strong this stuff is or if it even works so maybe you guys might want to go to separate rooms or something?"
Sarah smiled at Tally and Tally blushed, "I think we're fine Bellweather, I don't feel any different then before. How about you darling?"
Tally blushed at the term of endearment which Sarah had never said to her before, "I feel fine, I mean my heart beats this fast all the time with you around, Sarah."
"Eww, gross, yeah it's definitely working. Should wear off in twenty-four hours, give or take. I swear if I find you two making out all over the house I'm spraying you down with a hose and putting you in separate rooms."
Raelle's voice sounded from behind them, "Whose getting put in separate rooms?"
Abigail turned around and huffed, "Rae, they drank our love potion!"
Of course Raelle's reaction would be to laugh her ass off, "Oh, no, well maybe this will help you two finally stop dancing around each other and admit that you have a thing for each other."
Tally blushed and bit her lip while Sarah stared at her smuggly before she reached over, placed her finger under the redhead's chin and turned her gaze back to her own, "I don't know, darling, do you have a thing for me? Because I have a thing for you."
Tally nodded enthusiastically, "Yes, my thing for you is so big."
"Okay, you know what, that's it! You two break it up. No things!" Abigail placed her hand in between them and waved it up and down.
"What's wrong, Abs? Let them have their thing." Raelle giggled.
Abigail grabbed Raelle by the arm and dragged her to the corner of the kitchen, "I don't have a problem with it, I know they have a thing, I just don't want a love potion rushing things for them quicker then they're ready for."
Raelle pulled back and smirked at her, "Aww, you're such a hopeless romantic, Ab's."
"Yeah, well, don't tell anyone. I have an image to uphold."
When the duo turned around Sarah and Tally were gone, "Ooops, we lost them," Raelle laughed.
Nicte popped into the kitchen, "What's going on down here?"
Raelle laughed, "You're never gonna guess what happened."
"Okay, then straight up tell me."
"Tally and Sarah accidently drank the love potion we made and now they're all googly eyes with each other and we've just lost them. So be aware they could pop up, making out on any surface of this house."
"Good for them, well I'm going back to my room, let me know when they've been contained." Nicte grabbed her food from the fridge and headed back up the stairs.
Meanwhile….
Tally and Sarah had run out behind the house, giggling like school girls in love. Sarah pushed Tally up against the wall and bracing her hands on either side of her head while she peered around the corner to see if they were being followed.
"I think we lost them."
Sarah was too busy watching in case they got caught but Tally giggled and put her hands on Sarah's cheeks and moved her face back to her own, "Don't worry about them."
"What if they try to take you from me?"
Tally giggled again and bit her lip, "Sarah, are you afraid of my sisters?"
"No," Sarah blushed and looked away.
"You're so cute," Tally cleared her throat, "I know we're clearly under the effects of a love potion but I don't need a love potion to know how I feel about you."
That brought Sarah's attention back to the younger woman staring at her, "Oh, and how do you feel about me, Craven?"
"Like I'd fight anyone including death if they tried to take you away from me again. And…"
Sarah raised an eyebrow at her pause, "And?"
"And I've clearly been in love with you since forever."
"You have a funny way of showing it, considering our history."
Tally immediately pouted at that, "I said I was sorry, Sarah."
Sarah chuckled, "I know, I'm only teasing. Besides, I love you too. Ever since you stormed into my office and into my heart. But I'm complicated, things were complicated, it took me a while to realize what I felt for you was love. I'd never been in love, I never had the time for it. Nobody ever stuck around long enough for me to fall in love. My whole life has been war. But you were my peace."
There were tears in Tally's eyes as she cupped Sarah's cheeks and brought their foreheads together, "Oh, Sarah, I love you."
"I love you too, Tally," Sarah leaned in and kissed her gently before pulling apart and offering her her hand, "Come on, let's go back in before they send a search party."
"But…"
Sarah squeezed her hand, "Don't worry, I'm not letting you go."
Once they got back into the house Abigail glared at them, "You guys didn't do anything you're going to regret in the morning did you?"
"Geez, Ab's you sound like your mom. And not that it's any of your business, we didn't do what you think we did."
"I don't sound like my mom."
Sarah laughed, "I beg to differ."
Abigail rolled her eyes, "I hate you both."
Tally dropped Sarah's hand so she could wrap Abigail up in a hug, "No you don't, you love us. And I love Sarah and she loves me and she has luke warm feelings for the rest of you. Besides Ab's you don't need to worry about us, your little love potion just gave us the push to finally admit our feelings. So really we should be thanking you."
"Why because you're just as awkward as Sarah is emotionally constipated?"
Sarah frowned at her, "I beg you to never use my name in a sentence with the word constipated ever again," Sarah reached out and dragged Tally from Abigail and wrapped her arms around the young Knower as if to state 'mine', "Sorry, Bellweather, you'll have to fight me for Tally hugs from now on."
"You know what, I think I liked you better when you were just angry and drank a lot."
Tally smiled up at Sarah and then back at Abigail, "No you don't, you were just as angry as she was."
"Whatever, I'm going to bed. Enjoy your lovefest, quietly, please."
When they were left alone they found themselves cuddling on the couch which is exactly where everyone found them the next morning. And again at breakfast when they found Tally sitting in Sarah's lap as they shared their breakfast.
"I thought this was supposed to wear off after twenty-four hours, Ab's?" Raelle couldn't take her eyes off the pair.
"It did wear off, this," she motioned her hand up and down at the couple, "Is just the way they are now."
"Aww, cute, I'm happy for you guys," Raelle sipped her juice.
Tally smiled back while Sarah glared.
Yep, it definitely wore off.
"Thanks, Rae, I'm glad we accidentally drank your weird tasting love potion. At least you know it works."
Abigail mumbles, "It works a little too well," as she watches Tally feed Sarah a piece of toast and kiss her on the cheek.
"Why don't you feed me like that?" came Adil's voice as he sat next to Abigail.
"No, the real question is why don't you feed me like that?"
Raelle takes one last sip of her cup, "And that is my cue to leave."
"Us too!" Tally giggles as she hops off Sarah's lap and grabs her hand and drags her out the front door and behind the house to make out again.
