"...She loves me...She loves me not...She loves me...She...(Sigh)...loves me not..." Luigi muttered calmly yet tiredly to himself with a little frown and with a deep sigh while shaking his head a bit after picking off all the petals from a daisy. He felt disappointed since this was the twentieth flower that resulted in him getting a "no". As he sighed tiredly again, he looked up and stared sadly at the warm sunset ahead of him while he sat on top of a hill. He could only hope that his chances with Daisy are certain, but with how his luck is going so far by picking flowers, he's starting to doubt if he ever had a chance at all.

"Ooooh...Just what am I doing? Picking these flowers won't do me any good. I'll just keep getting a-reminded that I'll always stay alone. Nothing ever goes right with me. Why do I even a-try?" Luigi muttered calmly yet sadly in defeat with a little groan and with a depressed look on his face while hunching forward and holding his cheeks as he stared at the sunset with downcast eyes. His mustache drooped a little too as he said that.

While Luigi kept talking sadly to himself, he was unaware of Daisy's presence as she was just strolling through the hills and the meadows before stopping in surprise when she spotted him. She looked shocked while placing a hand over her mouth as she stared curiously at Luigi while listening to him talk to himself in depression.

"It's just hopeless. Utterly hopeless. My-a luck will always be bad...I just could never catch a break..." Luigi continued calmly yet sadly in defeat with a depressed frown and with downcast eyes as he looked down at his lap.

Huh? What's Luigi doing here all by himself? He looks and sounds...rather sad about something...Just what is it that he's so sad about? Daisy pondered calmly in curiosity with a confused yet concerned look on her face as she kept listening to Luigi's self-deprecating speech.

"...I'm just no good. I'm-a no good for anyone. So, why would Daisy even bother to a-like me anyway? She deserves better than me. She deserves to be the happiest girl in the world! But I...I doubt that I can ever be able to do that for her. No matter how much I like her, I can never be enough..." Luigi continued calmly yet sadly in defeat and in slight frustration with a deep grimace and with tightly closed eyes while clutching his hat and head as he kept it lowered to his lap.

Daisy silently gasped in shock after hearing Luigi say that out loud. She then looked even more concerned and sympathetic after that. Not to mention...touched. I...I had no idea that Luigi cared so much about me like that. I...I also cared about him as well, but I didn't think that...it would be the same level as mine is. Does he...really want me to be happy? Does he really think that...he won't be enough for me? Daisy pondered calmly in sympathy and in curiosity with a concerned yet touched look on her face while lowering her hand down a little as she kept staring behind Luigi.

"Oh...Oh, Daisy...For someone who is so a-beautiful and lovely, you deserve the best man that you can. Someone to appreciate your kindness and generosity...Not to mention your-a bravery and self-confidence...Those are the qualities that any man appreciates in any woman and desires for himself...Just like a-me...I...I wish that I could have your level of bravery and self-confidence because I lack it greatly even though I'm-a Mario's brother...(Sigh)...I'm sure that you find him more attractive than me..." Luigi continued calmly yet sadly in defeat with a depressed frown and a deep sigh while opening his eyes halfway and staring down at his lap as he slowly shook his head a bit.

"No, I don't! Oh!" Daisy blurted out in surprise with an alarmed look on her face after hearing that last part before quickly slapping her mouth with both hands after realizing that she had said it out loud and not in her thoughts.

"Wha-?! D-Daisy?! Just what are you doing here?! I-a thought that you were hanging out with a-Peach!" Luigi exclaimed in shock and in confusion with a startled expression on his face while jolting a bit in his spot as he quickly looked behind himself to see Daisy.

"Uhh...I mean...Umm...I was, but...I...I just...Umm...I just wanted to have a nice stroll through the meadows by myself..." Daisy answered calmly yet awkwardly in embarrassment with a sheepish frown and with flushed cheeks while grabbing her right arm as she coyly glanced from Luigi's gaze. ...And try to not think of a certain someone that I have a...a...crush with...Daisy added in her thoughts while looking embarrassed as she felt shy currently.

"O-Oh...Yourself, huh? That's...rather lonely..." Luigi replied calmly yet slowly in melancholy with a surprised yet depressed look on his face as he stared at Daisy before looking at the grass on his left instead. …Sigh...And it's certainly a feeling that I know all too well...Luigi brooded calmly in sadness with a depressed look on his face as he kept staring at the ground.

"Actually...Uhh...It's not really all that bad...being alone I mean...Sometimes, it's good to be away from people so that you can recollect your thoughts and feel relaxed again," Daisy replied calmly yet softly in reassurance with a shy smile and with half-lidded eyes while having flushed cheeks as she slowly walked over to Luigi and sat down right next to him. She even grabbed his right shoulder as she sat down.

"Well...I guess that's true. But then again...(Sigh)...that's so a-like you, Daisy. You so don't a-mind being alone. You're quite more resilient than a-me," Luigi replied calmly yet quietly in sadness with a little frown and with another sigh while glancing at Daisy as he slumped his shoulders even further.

Daisy gaped her mouth in surprise of that response before looking sympathetic as she muttered calmly in sadness, "Oh, Luigi...".

"I'm serious, Daisy. You're much stronger and capable than me. If you can protect yourself and your-a kingdom from Bowser and his minions, then what good am I for? Comic relief? A decoy? I...I...Ooooh...I'm too useless to be a hero to you," Luigi continued calmly yet quietly in sadness with a deep frown and with a tired groan while looking down at his lap before he covered his face with his hands as he put his elbows onto his knees.

"Awwww...Luigi...Don't say that...Just because you can't be a hero, that doesn't mean that you're useless. You're very useful in other areas as well," Daisy consoled calmly yet gently in sympathy with a little frown and with closed eyes as she leant against Luigi's right side and hugged him tightly in comfort.

Luigi jolted briefly in surprise and looked a bit alarmed when he saw and felt Daisy hug him in this way. He had been hugged by her before many times as friends, but somehow, this hug felt different. It felt...much more caring and passionate than the other hugs.

However, Luigi shrugged this off as he asked calmly yet quietly in curiosity with a depressed look on his face, "Yeah? How so?".

"Well...for one thing...you're someone that I can count on to be trustworthy. You are kind of honest to a fault, and you've always been your funny, awkward self despite your attempts to be brave or cool around me. That's what I've always liked about you, Luigi. Your transparent honesty," Daisy answered calmly yet gently in consolation with a warm smile and with upward eyebrows while hugging Luigi tightly in comfort as she stared at him with half-lidded, twinkling eyes.

Luigi's face flushed in bright red after hearing that embarrassing admission from Daisy. Just as she had said, he tried to play it off coolly, but it's clear from his flustered expression that he felt really awkward about that compliment.

"...Uhh...Umm...W-Well, th-that's...Umm...n-no big deal...Like...Uhh...a-anyone could be a...honest if th-they wanted to be..." Luigi replied calmly yet awkwardly in embarrassment with a flustered look on his face while rubbing the back of his head as he stared back at Daisy for a bit before glancing shyly away from her.

"Well, yes, they could be, but they would never be as honest as you, Luigi. Because unlike many people, you're like a friend to me, my best friend actually. Honestly, I think that is what I really wanted all along. I didn't need a hero or a guard to look out for me. All I wanted for a long time is a friend...and even better...a best friend. No other person besides Peach had been able to do that, and you should be proud that you're a good friend to begin with," Daisy replied calmly yet gently in consolation with a warm smile and with half-lidded, twinkling eyes while holding Luigi dearly in her arms as she stared at him.

"O-Oh...Oooh...Y-Yeah...I guess so..." Luigi replied calmly yet slowly in disappointment with a little frown and with downcast eyes while blushing a bit as he briefly stared back at her before coyly looking away from her in shame. Of course, she just sees me as a friend. Nothing more. I knew that my odds weren't in my-a favor. My luck will always be terrible...Sigh...Luigi brooded calmly in sadness with a disappointed look on his face while staring at his left.

However, Daisy caught on to Luigi's sad response and asked calmly in concern with a sympathetic look on her face, "Luigi, what's wrong? What's on your mind? Is there something that I had said?".

"N-No! No! There's nothing wrong! It's just...Uhh...Umm..." Luigi exclaimed back in surprise and in awkwardness with a shocked yet flustered look on his face as he quickly looked back at Daisy and waved his hand at her before coyly looking away again while rubbing the back of his head.

"'It's just' what, Luigi?" Daisy asked calmly in confusion with a curious look on her face as she stared at Luigi while holding onto him.

Luigi hesitated to answer that as his cheeks burned bright red. He had always wished that he could be more charismatic and be collected whenever talking to girls, especially with Daisy in particular, but no matter how much he tried, he always ended up being awkward and bashful.

He had wished that he has his brother's bravery right about now.

Oh, mamma mia...Just what do I a-say now? If I don't come out and confess my deep feelings, then I'll lose my chance into having Daisy forever. But I'm j-just...t-t-too shy to come right out and a-say it. It'll be completely embarrassing to say it out loud, but it'll be a great mistake to never a-say it at all. Just...what do I do? Luigi pondered calmly in embarrassment with a sheepish frown and with flushed cheeks while staring at the grass with downcast eyes.

"Luigi? Are you alright?" Daisy asked calmly yet gently in concern with a sympathetic look as she grabbed both of Luigi's cheeks and held them while she turned his head around to face her directly.

Luigi's eyes widened in surprise of this action, and he blushed even deeper in embarrassment. He could see the concern etched into her sea blue eyes and her gentle lips. He could feel his eyelids flutter a bit downwards as he stared longingly at her caring face that is adorned by her chestnut-colored hair and sparkling, gold crown. Both hope and dread filled his heart as it pounded as fast as a hammer. All his dreams could either be crushed or fulfilled right here right now whether he decided to confess or not.

However, there is one thought that makes him even more hesitant to do so.

...I...I could confess my love for her, but...what if she says "no"? What if she truly meant it by saying that I'm her "best friend"? What do I-a do then? Luigi pondered calmly in sadness with a little frown and with downcast eyes while blushing a lot as he stared deeply into Daisy's twinkling, intrigued eyes.

"Please, Luigi. Speak to me. Tell me what's on your mind. I'll...I'll listen to you. Really. I've always have been and always will be. So, please. Talk to me, Luigi. Whatever it is that you have in your chest, let it out right now. It'll be easier for you that way," Daisy encouraged calmly yet softly in concern with a sympathetic look on her face as she gently rubbed Luigi's cheeks in a fond way.

I hope that you're right, Daisy...I hope that you're right...Luigi thought calmly in hope with a little frown and with a deep sigh as he briefly closed his eyes and shook his head before grabbing Daisy's hands and looking at the sunset instead of her.

"O-Okay. Look, Daisy. There's...something that I've been meaning to tell you, and...I've delayed a-myself from speaking about it for...a very long time...But I suppose that now is the right time to say it..." Luigi replied calmly yet quietly in understanding and in sincerity with a little frown and with upward eyebrows while holding Daisy's hands as he stared at the beautiful sunset.

"Huh? 'Now is the right time'? Whatever do you mean, Luigi?" Daisy asked calmly yet curiously in confusion with a bewildered look on her face as she stared at Luigi while holding his hands.

Luigi took another deep sigh and looked downwards at the grassy hill below while he gathered all the courage that he has to tell her his fond feelings.

Well...There's no turning back now...It's worth a shot...Luigi pondered calmly in solemnness with a gentle yet somber look on his face as he steeled his resolve and started his confession.

"...What I mean is that...Daisy...I...I...Mm...I'm in love with you! Okay?!" Luigi answered calmly yet slowly in awkwardness before blurting out suddenly in nervousness with a flustered look on his face as he briefly closed his eyes before opening them again while looking at Daisy in the eye.

"Wait! What?!" Daisy exclaimed in surprise with a flabbergasted look on her face while staring at Luigi with wide eyes and with flushed cheeks. Is...Is he serious? Am I...Am I dreaming or something? He...loves me? He's really confessing his love to me? Daisy pondered calmly in surprise and in curiosity while trying to reel in from the shock after hearing Luigi's sudden confession.

"I know! I know! It's a-crazy! I know that you just see me as a friend, but just...hear me out for a moment, okay?" Luigi exclaimed back in embarrassment before muttering calmly in sincerity with a flustered look on his face while shaking his head as he slowly looked away from Daisy again in shyness.

"..." Daisy was simply speechless while staring at Luigi in shock as she silently allowed him to continue his confession.

Luigi was quiet for a moment as he recollected his composure before continuing his confession with a slightly sad look on his face, "...I know that I'm way over my head for confessing this to you, but you know what? I can't a-help it. Every time that I'm with you or talk to you, my stomach goes a-queasy, and my heart pounds faster than a-normal for some reason. I've always known in my heart that we're just friends, and that we'll possibly never truly be together in the end. But do you know what? I...I...".

He stopped himself halfway as he looked rather sad before looking determined while staring back at Daisy and continuing in sincerity and in boldness, "...I don't care! I...I just gotta take a chance, you know?! You may break my-a heart and tell me that you're not interested in me, but I'll always love you and treat you in a way that you deserve to be treated! Daisy...Oh, my sweet, sweet Daisy...You're...You're just so beautiful...So kind...So smart...And so tough...I don't care who it will be that you'll love besides a-me. Just understand that whoever it that loves you will never ever have the same level of love that I a-have. Because if there's one thing that I have that many others don't is exactly what you just a-said...".

He then stared much closer towards Daisy's gentle yet shocked eyes and held her delicate hands much tighter than before as he finished slowly yet fondly in sincerity, "...and that is being your dear, best friend".

"..." Daisy was still speechless after hearing Luigi's sweet love confession as she stared at him with wide, twinkling eyes and with a gaped mouth.

Luigi stared back at Daisy while he kept having that determined look on his face. He waited calmly in anticipation for her response to his confession. In his mind, it's likely that she will turn him down, so he mentally prepared himself for the rejection that he will receive soon.

She doesn't love me, does she? I...I should've known that it's going to be a "no". Just like with the flowers, it's always a "no" with me. Sigh...I'm guessing that the reason she's taking so long to respond to me is because she's trying to figure out a way to not hurt my feelings. She...truly is a good frie- Luigi brooded calmly in sadness while he kept looking determined as he stared solemnly yet fondly at Daisy.

However, his brooding thoughts were quickly cut off when Daisy suddenly kissed him on the lips. She quickly wrapped her arms around him in a fond embrace and deepened the kiss even further to show him her true feelings for him. Meanwhile, Luigi looked absolutely shocked and embarrassed after feeling Daisy's soft, sweet lips and her warm embrace. His mind had halted to a stop after being kissed in this way. He completely doesn't know what to do or respond in this surprising situation. The only thing that he could do is return this tender kiss with his own as he closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around Daisy too.

Feelings of ecstasy and warmth filled their hearts as they kissed deeply yet longingly. They don't know how long that they had yearned for this endearing moment, but they felt both relieved and happy that it had finally happened. All their loving feelings for each other can finally be shown and released thanks to this tender embrace. There is no need to hold back now.

Because everything is out in the open.

After passionately kissing for about a minute and a half, Daisy reluctantly broke the kiss as she pulled back and stared longingly at Luigi while smiling fondly at him with half-lidded eyes. Luigi stared longingly back at Daisy with his own half-lidded eyes while smiling a little in fondness. They both kept holding each other in a warm embrace as they kept staring at each other.

"...You're just the sweetest man in the world, Luigi," Daisy commented calmly yet softly in fondness with a warm smile and with half-lidded eyes as she stared at Luigi while holding him in her arms.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. You're rather sweet too, Daisy. Very sweet. I mean...If this is you're a-way of saying 'no' to me, then I really don't mind it at all," Luigi replied calmly yet quietly in fondness with a sad smile and with downcast eyes while nodding a bit as he stared back at Daisy.

"'No'? What do you mean 'no'? Just what are you talking about, Luigi? I'm not saying 'no'," Daisy replied calmly in confusion with a bewildered look on her face as she stared back at Luigi with wide eyes.

"Wait! What?! You're not?!" Luigi exclaimed back in surprise and in confusion with a dumbfounded look on his face while leaning slightly back from Daisy in shock as he stared back at her.

"Why of course, I'm not, silly! What I'm saying is 'yes'!" Daisy exclaimed back in amusement with a huge smile and with twinkling eyes while almost holding back a laugh as she stared back at Luigi.

"Wh-Wha-? Does...Does that mean that you...you...?" Luigi asked calmly yet slowly in shock and in shyness with a flustered look on his face while his cheeks burned bright red again as he stared back at Daisy with wide eyes.

Daisy then looked rather fond as she answered calmly yet warmly in endearment while blushing a little too, "Yes, Luigi, I...I love you too. Just like you, I'm completely in love with you. I've also felt rather queasy and nervous when around you or when talking to you sometimes. I may not have shown it outwardly, but inwardly, I was a complete nervous wreck. In a way, I feel grateful that you always act shy or nervous outwardly whenever we're alone together because it validates my nervous feelings towards you. I...".

She then glanced at the grass on her left as she finished calmly yet warmly in endearment with a shy look on her face, "...I've always felt like a complete weirdo for liking you let alone loving you. I...honestly felt like I was the only one who loves you for you, and that...you don't feel the same way towards me".

"Oh, believe me, Daisy. I felt the same way about you as well. I also felt like a complete weirdo for liking you very much and would feel like dying if my deep secret came out so a-suddenly out of the blue. I mean. I've...always thought that you'll never like me back. That was why I had kept it a secret for so long because...I...Uhh..." Luigi replied calmly yet quietly in sheepishness with a shy smile and with upward eyebrows while blushing a lot and while scratching the back of his head as he glanced away from Daisy.

He then looked rather depressed again as he finished calmly yet quietly in somberness, "...I feared that you will reject me...I just...wasn't ready to handle your rejection no matter how harsh or kind you say it to me. My heart was just...too fragile...too scared...and too vulnerable to even handle that kind of a-rejection. I figured that...if I was ever going to handle rejection...then I'd rather risk it and tell you my feelings myself when I'm-a ready, and well...here we are. I guess...I have nothing to a-fear now, huh?".

He smiled a little when he said that last sentence as he coyly looked back at Daisy. She smiled sympathetically at him as she understood how he felt and why he didn't tell her sooner.

She then replied calmly yet gently in understanding with a warm look on her face, "Yeah, I guess you don't, and neither do I. I was...also scared about getting rejected and have my heart broken even if you had put me down in the kindest, sympathetic way possible. I'm just...glad that my feelings were reciprocated. It lifts a huge weight off of my shoulders".

"Uhh...Heheh...Y-Yeah...Me too...I'm very glad as well...I'm glad that...you-a love me back..." Luigi replied calmly yet a bit shyly in fondness with a sheepish grin and with a nervous chuckle while blushing a lot in deep red as he stared coyly at Daisy with upward eyebrows and with a tilted head.

"Mmhmhm! Me too, Luigi. Me too," Daisy replied calmly yet gently in amusement with a muffled giggle and with a sweet smile as she cuddled Luigi a little in fondness.

Luigi smiled widely yet shyly at Daisy while holding her much closer to himself. He stared coyly into her amused, twinkling, blue eyes as he held her dearly in his arms. He felt like he's at a loss here as to what to do or say next.

So, he simply asked calmly in awkwardness with a happy yet bashful look on his face, "So...now what do we a-do?".

"Teehee! Well...do you want me to become your girlfriend? I wouldn't mind having you as my boyfriend. After all, you're so cute and sweet. Who wouldn't want you?" Daisy replied calmly yet gently in amusement with a light giggle and with a warm smile as she stared fondly at Luigi.

"Aww, come on, Daisy. Stop it. You're a-making me blush. Besides, even if I do want you to be my a-girlfriend, I...Uhh...don't know if I'll ever...measure up to your expectations or even be...Umm...good enough for a-you," Luigi replied calmly yet shyly in embarrassment with a bashful look before in sadness with a shameful one instead as he stared back at Daisy until he glanced downwards from her.

"Oh, don't say that, Luigi. Don't say those kinds of things. I already love you for you. You don't have to meet my expectations or be good enough for me to date you. You've already captured my heart even before I knew you inside and out. That is way more impressive than meeting my expectations! Don't you forget that!" Daisy replied calmly yet a bit boldly in the end with a sympathetic look on her face as she stared sadly at Luigi with twinkling eyes.

"D-Daisy..." Luigi muttered calmly yet softly in fondness with a warm look on his face as he quickly moved his head back up to stare at Daisy after hearing her say that. He felt touched that Daisy cared about his self-esteem and self-worth like this. He can tell that she is being completely genuine here. It's very obvious that she doesn't care about him being like the perfect soulmate for her. She just loves him for him, all strengths and weaknesses, and he couldn't be any happier than that.

"I swear, Luigi! If I ever hear you talking negatively about yourself like that again, then I'm going to give you a good old-fashioned bonk on the head!" Daisy added solemnly in a warning tone with a grave look on her face as she tapped Luigi's head for emphasis.

"Hahaha! Okay! Okay! I-a get it! I get it! Hahahahaha! Th-Thanks, Daisy. Really. Thanks," Luigi replied calmly yet brightly in amusement with a huge smile and with flushed cheeks while he chuckled a lot as he stared gently at Daisy in fondness.

Daisy smiled hugely as well as she's happy that she had cheered Luigi up and heard him laugh again. Without any prompt, she then leant forward and hugged him tightly again in fondness. Luigi smiled fondly at this and lowered his eyelids halfway as he hugged her back just as tightly as her. He adored the warmth yet again as he hugged her for a long time in silence while the sun sets in the background.

She truly is a good friend. No...More like...a good girlfriend...Hmm...Ahh...You know what? I think that I could get a-used to saying that...Mm...Heheheh...Looks like I finally got a-lucky...Luigi pondered calmly in fondness and in amusement with a warm smile and with half-lidded eyes while he gently rubbed Daisy's back as he hugged her dearly in his loving embrace.

"...Say...Daisy?" Luigi asked calmly yet slowly in fondness with a warm look on his face while hugging Daisy as he stared at her.

"Hmm? Yes, Luigi? What is it?" Daisy asked calmly yet gently in curiosity with a little smile and with twinkling eyes as she stared back at Luigi while hugging him back.

Luigi pulled back from Daisy to stare at her directly as he suggested calmly yet gently in curiosity with a fond look on his face, "Do you want to sit here with me and watch the sunset together? We can a-cuddle if you like. Or...do you want to finish your stroll a-together? We could...hold hands and watch the sunset that way too. So...Uhh...what do you a-want to do? I'll be happy by doing either since...I'll be with you anyways. That's...what's-a important to me".

Daisy smiled warmly at Luigi as she answered calmly yet gently in fondness while inching a bit closer towards his face, "...I would love it if we finish our stroll together, Luigi. I would love it very much".

"Y-Yeah...'Our stroll...together'..." Luigi repeated calmly yet gently in fondness with a warm smile and with half-lidded eyes as he inched closer towards Daisy's face while staring at her before he leaned in for another endearing kiss.

Daisy embraced Luigi's kiss with her own as they kissed each other on the lips again. As they hugged and kissed again, they felt their hearts flutter in happiness since they realized now that they are officially a couple. They felt excited and proud that their friendship had grown so deeply and had impacted them hugely in ways that they can't even imagine. They couldn't possibly imagine their lives without ever meeting each other, but it's a relief to know that it wasn't the case. This wonderful turnabout in their lives is just the beginning of their good life together as a couple.

After kissing each other for another minute and a half, they soon reluctantly broke apart and released each other of their warm hug. Luigi and Daisy respectively stood up from the grassy hill and grinned shyly at each other with flushed cheeks. Luigi then slowly yet coyly grabbed Daisy's right hand and walked towards the left, which was the path that she was treading on before. Daisy smiled sweetly at this gentlemanly gesture and walked right beside him at his left while staring at him. He simply smiled hugely in amusement as he was ready to chat some more with her while having a nice, quiet, evening stroll through the grassy hills in the sunset.

He certainly took his shot and won it. Big time.

Guess luck truly is fifty-fifty.

THE END

Well, would you look at that? It's another one-shot done! This was a fun one to make especially since it's good old Luigi here! I think that there are three Mario characters that I love writing about or will write about, and that is (1) Luigi, (2) Bowser, and (3) Waluigi. Because those are the characters that I could easily make the situations either heartfelt like this one is or funny like the Bowser ones so far is. My next Mario one-shot by the way will be Waluigi's because man, he's such a wild card that I love and will love writing about! There are so many crazy shenanigans that you can make with him that's it's great!

Oh, and also, I like to think that Luigi has a less thick (fake) Italian accent than his brother, which is why there are a less "a"s adjacent with his words than the other one-shots with Mario in them. It's just my personal take on them. Nothing else.

But anyways, if you guys had enjoyed this, please R&R and do whatever you want with it to show your support of it! Thank you so much to everyone for supporting it by just reading it! Your support is appreciated, and I'll see you all in the next one-shot! See you all next time!
