Hotch was with Emily right now. He was holding her hand like every other time he was in there. He felt someone squeeze his hand. He looked up and saw her eyes trying to open. Hotch pressed the nurse button to let them know she was trying to wake up.

The nurse ran in and looked at Hotch.

"She's waking up." Hotch told the nurse.

The nurse went over to Emily and checked her vitals. She then saw Emily was trying to fight against the tube they put in her throat.

"Here hold on. Don't fight it." The nurse said gently, getting ready to take the tube out.

The nurse took the tube out of Emily's throat and she started coughing a lot.

"Get the water." The nurse told Hotch.

Hotch grabbed the cup of water and handed it to the nurse.

The nurse helped Emily drink out of the straw and then made sure she was okay.

"What happened?" Emily asked in her raspy voice.

"Do you remember what happened?" Hotch asked, scared that she could've lost her memory.

"Um I was at home with Nick, he got mad." Emily said in a low voice.

Hotch confirmed it with a nod of his head and then the nurse could tell they needed to talk.

"I'll let you guys talk a bit. The doctor will be in a bit to check on her. Let me know if you need anything." the nurse said, leaving the room.

"Thank you." Hotch responded, putting his attention back on Emily.

"So how long have I been out?" Emily asked, knowing she had to have been out for a bit.

"3 weeks." Hotch answered, not wanting to hide the truth.

Emily sighed and looked down at her lap.

"So what's the damage?" Emily asked.

"Well you had a lot of cuts, which they stitched up and are healing correctly, had a lot of bruising, most of them are already almost gone and fading away. Um, you have 2 broken ribs, which are also healing correctly and you broke your wrist." Hotch informed her.

"So not as bad as it could be." Emily said, relieved it's not as bad as it could be.

"I guess." Hotch answered.

"So where's the team at?" Emily asked, realizing that no one else had come in.

"I haven't had a chance to call them. I was planning on doing that when the doctor came in so you can have some privacy." Hotch answered.

"Ok." Emily said, nodding her head, even though she didn't want him to leave.

Hotch filled her in on things that were happening with Nick and then about some happier things with the team. When the doctor came in he excused himself to go call the team.

Hotch pulled out his phone and dialed Morgan's number.

"Morgan." Derek answered.

"I need you to gather the team and come down to the hospital." Hotch said.

"Is everything ok with Emily?" Morgan asked, instantly fearing the worse.

"Emily's awake." Hotch said, knocking any of Morgan's fears out of his head.

"Oh thank god! I'll have the team there within the hour." Morgan said, getting ready to call the rest of the team.

"Ok thanks Morgan." Hotch said, before hanging up.

Hotch took a second to let himself think about what had happened and he thanked god that Emily was awake. He stood there for about 15 minutes till he saw Emily's doctor.

"Dr. Jones, how is she?" Hotch asked, approaching the doctor.

"She's good, considering what happened. I told her she'll have to be here for about 2 more weeks until she gets released. She was not happy about that. She then proceeded to ask when she could go back to work, which I told her she would have to be on desk duty for at least 2 months, which she was even less thrilled about, said a few choice words and then gave me a look where I thought it was better to leave and I'll talk to her later. In all though she seems to be healing nicely and I figure she'll be up and running in no time." The doctor informed Hotch.

"Well obviously she hasn't changed that much. Sounds like Emily." Hotch said, glad that she's still somewhat the same.

"Well either I or another doctor will be in there in a bit. You can go ahead and go back in to see her." Dr. Jones replied, nodding his head back to where her room was.

"Ok thank you." Hotch said before heading to her room, trying his best not to run.

Once Hotch got to her room, he knocked on the door and waited for her to reply.

"Come in."

Hotch opened the door and then closed it behind him, then making his way to the chair that had been his home for a couple weeks at this point.

"So, how'd it go with the doctor?" Hotch asked, even though the doctor had already told him.

"He told me I have to be on desk duty for two months! Can you believe that?" Emily exclaimed, definitely not happy about it.

"Em, your injuries were serious. You need to take it slow for a bit before you go right back into work." Hotch told her, regretting as soon as the words came out of his mouth.

"Are you serious right now? I'm fine. A couple days and I'll be good as new." Emily told him, giving him a straight face look.

"Your body is still healing. Weren't you the one to tell me to take it easy and that work will still be there after everything with Foyet? Now I'm returning that advice." Hotch shot back, a slight smirk knowing he just used her words against her.

"Ok but those are two different things." Emily tried to retaliate.

"Oh really? Because from where I am standing, they're not that different." Hotch said, giving her a knowing smile.

"I really dislike you sometimes, Hotchner." Emily replied, a pout on her face.

"Admit, you love me." Hotch smirked back, giving her a jokingly smile.

Before she even had a chance to come up with something to say in return, there was a knock on the door, followed by Garcia's voice.

"Just letting you know I'm coming in three seconds if you don't say anything!" Garcia exclaimed from behind the door.

"Come in!" Emily replied, smirking at Hotch as the door basically burst open.

"Oh my sugarplum. How are you feeling? Are you in any pain? Oh what am I saying, of course you're in pain! What abo-" Garcia started rambling as soon as she came inside the door.

"Garcia, give her some room to breathe and reply." Hotch replied for Emily since Garcia had her in a gentle but firm bear hug.

"Oh sorry, got a little carried away. You made us all worried." Garcia said, pulling back from Emily but standing right next to her.

"Garcia, I'm fine. A couple of months and I'll be back up and kicking criminal ass, as you like to say." Emily replied, smirking at Garcia.

"Months? It's gonna take you months to get better?" Garcia asked, fearing the absolute worst.

"Well according to Dr. Douchebag, I have to be here for at least two more weeks and on desk duty for 2 months after that." Emily replied, seeing everyone snicker at what she called her doctor.

"But between you and me, I think I can convince Dr. Douchebag to knock down some of my time on desk duty." Emily leaned into Garcia, making it seem like none of the others could hear, but knowing they could.

"Oh I'm sure you will try." Garcia replied, giving her a knowing smirk.

"Now I know you don't want to be on desk duty that long, however it is for your own good, whether you realize that or not. Also I'm pretty sure that's the best one yet. Dr. Douchebag. Has a nice ring to it." Dr. Jones replied, having an amused look as he came in the open door.

"Ooh Prentiss is in trouble!" Morgan sang in a low voice, loud enough for Emily to still hear it.

"Just because I'm in this hospital bed doesn't mean I can't beat your ass." Emily deadpanned, making him squirm under her glare.

"You are very good at that." Dr. Jones interrupted as he moved closer to Emily's monitors.

"Ah well it's the only thing that I had against my mother, I had to be good at it." Emily joked, giving Hotch a knowing smirk.

"Um, just wondering, but did anyone ever call Emily's mom?" Reid muttered, but loud enough where they heard him.

Everyone stayed silent, looking around at everyone.

"You know I'm pretty sure JJ said she was going to." Morgan pointed out, placing the blame on her.

"Um, never once did I ever say that." JJ replied, automatically defending herself.

"Ok, wait, so no one called my mother?" Emily spoke, making everyone turn to look at her.

"Um it seems like no." Reid muttered, loud enough where Emily still heard him.

"Well, how about no one tells her and she'll never know. To be honest I could do without one of her lectures and it ending in a screaming match." Emily finished her reasoning and everyone nodded their heads at her points, knowing what could happen during their screaming matches, having heard about it on more than one occasion.

After Dr. "Douchebag" left, the team chatted for a little while more before deciding that it'd be best to head home and let Emily rest.

"Well maybe someone should stay here with Em so she's not all alone." Garcia advised, at least for a little while longer until she fell asleep.

"That's unnecessary Garcia." Emily responded, sending her friend and teammate a glare that, if looks could kill, she'd be buried already.

"No, I think it's a good idea. Someone should stay here." JJ spoke up, causing Emily's glare to be sent her way.

"I could do it. So everyone can go home and see their families." Hotch spoke, seeing something else in Emily's eyes beside anger after he said that.

"You have Jack at home, I couldn't put it on you." Emily responded, even though she was secretly hoping for him to stay.

"It's no problem, plus Jessica took Jack up to see her parents for the next couple of days, so I'll be going home to an empty house anyway." Hotch told her, shrugging his shoulders as if it was no big deal.

"Ok, it's decided! Boss man will stay here with gumdrop! Ok now I best be going, long day tomorrow at the office." Garcia declared, heading towards the door, but first giving Emily one last hug.

Everyone said their final goodbyes for the night and headed home, leaving only Hotch and Emily in the hospital room.

"Well, it looks like it's just us." Emily whispered into the silent room.

"Do you want to play a round?" Hotch asked as he pulled out a deck of uno cards, showing them to her.

"Yes!" Emily squeaked, happy to have something to do.

For the next hour and half they played Uno and some other card games that Hotch found in the bag Garcia brought for Emily. They decided to call it quits once Hotch saw Emily's eyes drooping and her trying to keep herself awake.

Knowing she still had a long recovery ahead of her, he put the cards away and waited to leave until she fell asleep, even then he waited longer than he had to before leaving.
