A/N: Hello and welcome back to, "The Gossip Around Shermer". My name is Bambi, and I am very happy that you're here. I hope all of you are doing well. I know I'm doing great. So, what you're about to read is probably my favorite chapter in this story. I had such a fun time writing and I really hope you guys like it. As always, I do not/have not/probably, nor will I ever own the rights to "The Breakfast Club" or any of its characters and themes. Those belong to the estate of John Hughes and Universal Pictures. Xia hart is all mine though. Now, onto the chapter. Enjoy.

Ch. 6 Talking in the Girls Room

Xia, Claire, and the quiet girl walk into the ladies room. The quiet girl goes into one of the bathroom stalls, leaving the former friends by themselves at the sinks. Xia was trying not to look at Claire as the nervous pit in her stomach grew. It's been so long since they've been left in the same room alone together. Claire had been washing her hands and touching her make up. Meanwhile, Xia had removed the clips from her hair and the heart earrings from her ears. As she was massaging her ear lobes, Claire remarks, "I see you're still wearing those heavy earrings."

This remark had caught Xia off guard and annoyed her. They'd hadn't talked like this in two years, and the only thing Claire can bring up is her earrings? It was a poor attempt at a conversation starter. "And you're still insecure about your neck." Xia pointed out dead panned. Since Claire wanted to be shallow, Xia was going to give her a shallow remark right back. "Am not." Claire responds defensively. "Then why do you keep rubbing it? Caught a sore while yelling cut it out at Bender?" Xia asked. If looks could kill, Xia would've been dead on arrival under Claire's unamused icy stare. "It wasn't that loud." Is all Claire could come back with. "It wasn't that quiet either. Plus, you looked worried." Xia noted. She couldn't care less about the look on Claire's face. Sure once upon a time that would've made her back down but not anymore. She wasn't like the other kids at Shermer dying to get her approval.

"I wasn't. I just thought it was unfair." Claire shakes off Xia's accusations. "Oh I'm so sure." Xai rolled her eyes. Claire looked so annoyed and frustrated with Xia and all of her teasing. So it was not a surprise to Xia when Claire went for her jugular. "And what about your bedroom eyes at Andy when he threatened Bender?" Claire grilled. Of course she saw. Of course she would take it there. Just because Xia knew she would do it, doesn't mean she was happy to be caught fawning over her ex.

"What's the matter, Xia? Didn't think anyone saw you?" Claire asks with a smirk that made Xia's blood boil. "I wasn't. Andy and I are done. You both are exactly the same and I don't want either of you in my life anymore." Xia shrugs calmly. "What do you mean?" Claire wonders. "Really? You have no idea. Well, let's see. You're both popular, both well off, oh and you both abandoned me when I needed you the most." Xia jogs Claire's memory. There was something about the uncomfortable gleam that currently resided in Claire's eye that satisfied Xia. She had waited so long to say this. Claire looked at Xia in disbelief. "I did not." Claire cried. "Did too." Xia quickly responded. She wasn't going to let Claire run from this. "You pushed me away first. You changed. I didn't know how to be around you anymore." Claire defended herself. Of course, she didn't want to take responsibility.

"Oh, well I am so sorry my world couldn't revolve around you anymore, Claire. I'd like to remind you that at that point in time, my dad had just gone to jail and it felt like my whole world was falling apart. I just wanted some support from my best friend. Especially after I was nothing but supportive of her. Excuse me for not being the wild child to your little miss perfect." Xia vented. She could hear the tremble in her voice and feel her eyes starting to water. It just angered her further.

Xia always promised herself that when she got this chance that she wouldn't cry or break down. Yet here she was, tears in her eyes and her heart on her sleeve. "I'm not perfect." Claire replied softly. That response made Xia come unglued. "Are you fucking serious?" Xia snapped. "What? I'm not." Claire shook her head. "I'm pouring my heart out to you right now and all you can say is you're not perfect? Really, Claire?" Xia asked furiously. "What do you want me to say?" Claire asks. Just as Xia's about to respond, a stall door swings open behind them.

They give each other sad glances as the quiet girl approaches the sink between them. Xia was so relieved that the girl was here. It gave her some time to regain her composure and calm down. She put her head down to quickly swipe away some stray tears. She pops back up and begins talking to the quiet girl. "You draw very well." Xia compliments. The girl stares at her like a deer in headlights before she leaves the bathroom. Guess she just wasn't used to people talking to her.

"Xia, I'm sorry. I missed you too." Claire starts up once the quiet girl is gone. "No you didn't. Those girls accepted you the minute you stopped being friends with me. Your world went on turning and don't pretend it didn't." Xia recalled, double checking the door to make sure Quiet Girl was really gone. "I didn't want it to be that way. I had to do it. You remember what it was like when we were trying to be friends with those girls. It was feast or famine." Claire reminded her.

"And what a mighty feast you have, princess Claire." Xia quipped sarcastically. "And what a lonely life you lead, flower child." Claire snapped, tired of Xia solely placing the blame onto her. "You don't get to call me that anymore." Xia shook her head. "Andy called you Sunshine." Claire shrugged. "It was sarcastic and you really need to get off this me and Andy stuff." Xia glared. "I will when you say you still like him. He was so upset when you two broke up. He missed you." Claire informed Xia. She had been there for Andy after he made the choice to break up with Xia.

"Did you forget that he broke up with me? And if he was so upset, why did he go out with and constantly parade other girls around me?" Xia asked. The fact that Claire was defending Andy bothered Xia to no end, but expected nothing less from little miss popularity over loyalty. "That's not true." Claire shook her head. "Yes it is and for the record if you date Bender you'll have the same problem." Xia warned. Bender's attitude, behavior towards other students, and affinity for verbally fighting Shermer's faculty weren't the only reasons he stayed in the column. It's well known he likes to sleep around. "I don't like him." Claire whined. "Really? So, if you walk into the library and he asks you to go to the movies, you're saying no?" Xia asked.

"That's right." Claire confirms. "Yeah okay." Xia scoffs. Claire rolls her eyes just as the girls hear a loud pounding on the bathroom door. "Standish. Hart. You have two minutes to get out or it's another Saturday." Vernon's voice boomed. The girls look towards the door and then back at each other, trying to suppress a laugh. "Yes, Vice Principal Vernon." they replied in unison before bursting out into quiet laughter. All this was starting to make Xia feel kind of good. She wasn't sure where she and Claire were gonna go from here.

For right now, things were more relaxed. They turned back to the sinks and fixed themselves. Xia gives one final rub to her earlobes before slipping her earring back in. "Just buy studs." Claire sighed. "And you should know your neck doesn't start aging till your fifties." Xia remarks. Claire waves her off as Xia goes to the door. The girls weren't exactly friends and still had a lot to talk about, but this was something. "5...4..3.. Don't make me get to two." Vernon counted down in order to hurry the girls out of the bathroom. Just as Vernon's count reaches two, Claire and Xia walk out. Andy, Bender, Johnson, and the quiet girl were waiting patiently. Xia wondered if Andy and Bender had heard of her and Claire's conversation. However, judging by the blank expressions on their faces, Xia doubted it, "Thank you for joining us ladies. Now, get back to the library and keep your mouths shut." Vernon demanded. The six head back to the library and spread out to do their own things.

Claire and the quiet girl go back to their original tables, Andy had taken off his letterman's jacket and was standing, Bender was sitting on one of the countertops near the librarian's desk, and Johnson was next to him. Wanting to be closer to the mix, Xia takes over Bender's table.
