Chapter Two:
When they got to the office of AUSA Ronnie Jameson Arianna loosened her .45 ACP Sig Sauer P220 Elite Full Stainless as she said through clenched teeth, "Let's go see what this prick wants."
Calliegh, Eric, and Frank all nodded as they proceeded inside.
They were stopped by Jameson's secretary; a very overweight black woman. She asked, "Who're you and why do you need to see Mr. Jameson?"
They all pulled out their badges as Arianna said, "I'm Deputy Us Marshal Arianna Duquesne and these are Detectives Calliegh Duquesne, Eric Delko and SGT Frank Tripp. And we need to speak with him about Detective Jake Berkley."
The fat lady's expression softened as she said, "Oh ok honey go right on in. It's such a shame what happened to him."
They all nodded and thanked her as Arianna led the way inside Jameson's office.
While they were heading to see Raylan's contact Raylan's cell began to ring. He pulled it from his pocket and after a quick glance at the caller ID said, "What's up sweetheart?"
His 15-year-old daughter Anita said in panicked voice, "Daddy it sounds like somebody is trying to get in the house; it's just me and Willa here?"
He asked in a slightly raised voice, "Where's Aunt Sharon; she supposed to be there?"
He was speaking of course of his 22-year-old baby sister. Anita replied, "She had a date with that asshat Rico."
Raylan felt white rage course through his body; he had expressly forbidden her from seeing Rico Jimmenez because of his very long history of dealing coke and heroin plus his familial ties to the Di Carlo crime family. He said, "I'm on my way lock the door and windows."
She replied in a voice filled with fear, "Alright Daddy; please hurry."
He replied, "I'm goin' hell for leather baby girl."
And with that he pocketed his phone and filled them in and upon everyone saying they would help him he executed a quick Bootlegger's Turn and sped toward his house.
When they got there Raylan grabbed his .30-30 Henry Golden Boy and they split up. Raylan and Natalia circled around to the left while Jesse and Horatio checked the rear. What they found were a couple of people dressed all in black trying to get in the back door. Raylan worked the lever as he growled, "If I were y'all I would stop doin' what I was doin'."
Suddenly they froze; Horatio and Jesse cuffed them as Raylan and Natalia covered them. Then Jesse called a patrol car to pick up the cuffed prisoners as Raylan, Horatio and Natalia checked on the girls. As soon as Willa saw her father the 6-year-old leapt into his arm and began crying. Anita joined in on the hug and pulled Natalia in as well. Horatio watched as his nephew comforted his family. When Willa spotted Horatio she had Raylan put her down and ran headlong into Horatio's waiting arms. He comforted his youngest grandniece. And that's exactly how Jesse found them when he came to tell Horatio he was taking the prisoners back to the crime lab. Raylan said, "I'll come with-"
He was cut off by Willa screaming. He looked into his daughter's terror filled blue gray eyes and asked, "What's wrong baby girl?"
She replied, "I'm scared Daddy; I don't want you to leave."
He was torn; on the one hand he wanted to question the people the that broke in his house not to mention they had to find Jake's killer or killers. But on the other hand, he desperately wanted to stay with his girls. Natalia saw the conflict in his eyes and said as she rested her hand on his shoulder as she said, "I'll stay with them."
He asked as he pulled her into his arms, "Ya sure darlin'?"
She replied as she removed his hat and looped her arms around his neck, "I'm sure cowboy; these are my girls too and if anyone wants to scare them, they have to deal with me."
Raylan gave her a deep passionate kiss and drawled, "Well Miss Boa Vista I love you I really do."
Natalia replied, "I love you to Cowboy with all my heart and soul."
He kissed her one last time and stepped back. She handed him his hat back and he put it back on his head as he drawled, "Well I reckon we better see who those two were."
Horatio nodded as they left.
Jameson glared at the Duquesne sisters as he spat, "Why should I tell the two of you anything?"
Eric said in a hard voice, "Because Jake Berley was a good friend of ours and a fellow detective."
Frank continued, "Plus if we don't get any Intel Raylan Weaver will be the one asking the questions."
Jameson's face showed disgust and fear but he quickly tried to mask the fear with bravado as he said, "I'm not scared of Raylan Weaver at all; that man is a disgrace to the badge."
That statement caused Eric to lose his temper for it was Raylan who followed them down to Brazil and helped them get Diago Mata and Antonio Riaz. And he recently learned from Horatio that Memmo Fierro was brutally beaten and hung in his cell by Raylan. Eric glared at the AUSA and said, "Raylan is the most honest cop I've ever met. He has a strict sense of right and wrong."
Jameson sneered, "If he has such a strict sense of right and wrong then why did he murder of Memmo Fierro and aid in the murders of Diago Mata and Antonio Riaz. And if I'm not mistaken Mr. Riaz was murdered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil."
Eric was stiff with anger as he said, "Raylan was never even accused of any of those crimes."
Jameson had a smarmy grin on his fat face as he said sarcastically, "And why is that you suppose?"
Eric said, "Because he's innocent."
Jameson countered, "Or it's because his Uncle runs the crime lab in Miami and he has people that will cover him in Brazil."
Arianna snapped, "Are you going to give us the Intel or not Ronnie?"
Jameson was quiet for several minutes then he hit his intercom as he said, "Betty bring in the Berkley case files."
Arianna said as Jameson sat back in his chair with a self-satisfied grin, "Thak you Ronnie; we really appreciate it."
Jameson said, "You're very welcome."
Then his face became hard as stone and said in a flat emotionless voice, "You can go now."
Arianna nodded as they all walked out of the office.
