On a clear night with no clouds, Shoto ran into trouble in an ignored part of the bad part of town. He was covering a late night for Shinso when he ran into a drug dealer in a back alleyway. One thing led to another and a fight broke out between the two. Shoto's fire quirk wasn't working because it turns out that the drug dealer had a quirk that messed with quirks to malfunction in a way.

He read about it in the drug dealer's file. How his quirk messed with the inner workings of a person's quirk through a thin vapor that he shot out of his mouth. He was able to freeze the man in solid ice before turning him over to the police. But the quirk has long-lasting effects. Shoto found this out quickly when he could no longer use his fire except for short bursts in his fingers that did close to nothing to warm his body temperature.

Shoto kept using his ice over and over for the rest of the shift until he couldn't feel any more warmth from his body. After the shift, he was dropped back at his agency where he changed out of his costume before heading back home. He waved off the concerns of the sidekicks there before leaving. He was shivering by the time he was walking back to his apartment. His fingertips turning blue from the quirk overuse.

Shoto cursed to himself because he knew that he wouldn't be able to regulate his body temperature for another two hours. He would have to turn on the heater in his apartment... if he could even make it there.

His arms were wrapped around himself while the beanie to hide his recognizable hair was tightly pulled over his ears.

"Where are you going, hero?" A deep voice interrupt. Shoto turned his head to look down the alleyway only to catch a glimpse of a familiar blue fire. The same quirk that Dabi has. The same Dabi who quit the League of Villains to live his life out as a vigilante.

Shoto shivered in his spot, turning to face the alleyway in case Dabi made a move. But his legs were so numb that he ended up falling to his knees instead of moving towards Dabi.

Dabi raised a brow at the hero's fallen figure before sauntering up to him. There was almost no one in the area apart from a few people walking from bars down the street. Dabi knelt down to Shoto face to face. "Oh look, the hero falls without me making a move. Do you really feel confident enough to take me on even now?"

Shoto bites his lip, tilting his head up to face down Dabi. But all he can see where black spots overtaking his vision until all he could see were bright blue eyes. Shoto stuttered, "To-Touya..?"

Dabi's eyes widened before Shoto slumped against the vigilante's looked over to Shoto who was fast asleep, but still shivering. He could see the light frost starting to cover his body. Shoto needed to get warm fast or else he will get major frostbite.

"Ah, shit," Dabi mumbled, running a hand down his face. Something about this position reminded him of when he was young. When he was just an older brother that wanted to protect his siblings. Before his father trained him past his limits. Before his younger brother stole the attention away from him because of his dual quirk. Back to a time where he was the only one who stood up to his father to get him to stop hurting his youngest sibling.

Before he was 'dead'.

With all of the reminiscing, his brotherly instincts that he hasn't felt since he back, friends with Toga started to resurface once again.

"Dammit. You own me one now. You happy?" Dabi grumbled, throwing an arm around Shoto to drag him down the alleyway.

Eventually Shoto wakes up with a pleasant warmth over him. He opens his eyes to find a plush blanket on top of him covered by an old quit filled with rips. He peeked under the covers to find a couple of those bags filled with hot water that Fuyumi used to use when he had stomach aches.

He turns his head to find a source of blue light coming from close by to find that Dabi was right near him sitting on a stained chair while smoking a cigarette. It looked like they were in a mostly empty apartment.

"Ah, you're awake. About time. I thought I had to use my own flames to defrost your ass." Dabi grumbled, putting out the halfway gone cigarette onto the floor. "You were literally a step away from frostbite. You're lucky I was feeling generous tonight enough to let you into my humble abode."

Shoto stayed silent as he stared up at Dabi while he stood from the chair.

"I'm guessing a quirk did this to you? You have better control of your temperature regularly. I would have dumped you at the hospital if you didn't wake up sooner."

"Why are you helping me?" Shoto interrupted.

Dabi shrugged, "I honestly don't. Know. Maybe I was just feeling nice today."

Shoto reflected back before he passed out, trying to remember what exactly happened. "... Touya. Oh my god, you are Touya aren't you? That's why you helped me!"

"Hey, I'm not this Touya guy, alright? I'm Dabi. No one else. I'm not him. And you shouldn't really confuse your older brother for a wanted vigilante especially one that takes after Stain's legacy. Aren't you afraid I might hurt your dear old dad?" Dabi asked, throwing out his hand to gesture to their surroundings.

"Not really. He deserves it," Shoto replies evenly, pulling the blanket to cover his exposed left side. "Plus, I know you must be Touya. I have been theorizing it for a while now."

Dabi cocked his head, "What?"

"I have multiple cases of evidence where you must be Touya. Plus, if you weren't him, you would have left me somewhere like a hospital instead of bringing me back here for you to look over me personally. A complete stranger won't go to this length for someone on the side that they claim to despise." Shoto explained. "That means if you are my brother, you can finally come back."

"What do you mean come back?" Dabi asked, accepting that Shoto might not take any excuse of why he isn't his brother by the determined look in his eyes. Who knew that he was a conspiracy theorist? "To what? An abusive and neglectful household under a fake hero?"

"To us. Father isn't in our lives anymore to try to control any of us. He separated himself from us which led to much better things. Fuyumi has her own house that mom lives in. Natsuo visits a lot since he is still in college dorm. I moved out from teh house to my own little apartment not too far away from them. If you come back, we can be an a family again with no endeawhore to bother us."

Dabi stifled a laugh, his staples clinked when his mouth stretched, "Endeawhore? Where the hell did you learn that?"

"My old classmate Kaminari taught me slang. And now my old class always refers to him as that," Shoto replied honestly. His fingers tightened on his hold of the blanket around him. "So...can you talk to them? We all miss you."

"Even you?" Dabi questioned, slinking down to sit on the ground next to the couch where Shoto laid.

Shoto stared at the ceiling, "I don't remember much from my childhood. It was filled with the others playing, mother crying and the pain from training. But I remember your eyes. You always protected me from dad when mother wasn't there."

Dabi clinked his tongue, "Tsk. My eyes are the same as his."

"No, they aren't. I was afraid of him, but I was never afraid of you. His eyes were nothing like yours."

"Dammit, I can't just quit my new life to play older brother to a family that thinks Touya is dead. I can't just come back like everything is going to change. I have killed people! Do you really think they are going to accept that with no problem at all? Let them believe that Touya is still gone. Dabi was born from the ashes that Touya left behind, that I left behind."

Shoto reached out to grab Dabi's fist. "Then let me learn more about Dabi. And if you are ready to meet them, I'll arrange a meeting for all of us to reunite."

"What makes you think they will accept me as I am now?"

"I just know. You are still family, so I bet they are willing to accept pretty much anything."

Dabi glared at his fist that was still held tightly by Shoto's left hand. "Fine. But I make no promises."

"I know and I'm okay with that," Shoto answered back.

"Whatever. Don't get your hopes up."

"Thank you, Dabi-nii."

"...I hate you."
