Sunny waved to the two Skywings as they left the principal's office. It was the first good meeting she had all day. Taking a deep breath in preparation for her next student, she reached for a scroll labeled "Turtle and Anemone" and unrolled it to read the reports. She smirked as she read about the complaint Clay had about how Anemone tried to get seconds for Tamarin by paying a Rainwing student. Tamarin was not happy.
"You sure you don't want some help with this one?" Fatespeaker had poked her head in and looked at the principal with a worried look.
Sunny shook her head and placed the scroll on her desk. "I'll be fine. Bring them in."
Fatespeaker stepped out and after a few seconds, Sunny heard multiple dragons stepping forward and took a seat as three Seawings walked into the cave. The Queen sat in the middle as the other two sat on either side. The two dragonets looked worried while Coral sat with her usual air of satisfaction when she went to these.
Turtle slowly lifted a claw and waved lightly at the Sandwing. "He-"
"So? How have my wonderful dragonets been? I already know that they are top of the class but that was with Seawing royal training. While Tsunami spoke highly of this place, I still think our royal teachers are better suited for them."
While Coral spoke, Anemone and Turtle tried to hide in their own claws while Sunny decided it was better to let the Queen finish, fearing what an interruption would do. After some more talk that Sunny zoned out too, she realized that Coral had stopped talking and Sunny finally spoke. "I understand your worries, but I assure you, these two haven't had any real issues so far! Though Turtles winglet has had many incidents, though Turtle hasn't been involved as of yet."
Turtle put his claws down and stared at Sunny as if she held his darkest secret. "I haven't done anything! I swear!"
Anemone coughed in her claw. "Yet." Which received a glare from her brother while Coral seemed to take offense.
The principal internally groaned, realizing that Queen Coral wasn't someone she could joke around with. "Sorry, I know Turtle is a good dragon. So about their progres-"
"All perfect I assume? Before poor Whirlpool fell into the eels, Anemone had the greatest teacher our kingdom had ever seen! He said that she was a natural at almost all of her subjects." At the mention of her old teacher, Anemone gave the confused Turtle an "I'll tell you later" look which Sunny chose not to mention.
Tempted to roll her eyes, Sunny rubbed her forehead, acting like she had a headache. "Well, Anemone IS struggling in geography. She co-"
"SO? Your curriculum is faulty!" Anemone attempted to hide under the table while Turtle hid a chuckle behind a cough.
Annoyed but still keeping her tone, Sunny spoke again. "I assure you, our methods are just fine. She does have trouble focusing due to a student that she seems to keep getting distracted by. Hilltop has caught her multiple times stealing glances and trying to whisper to Tamarin during he-"
"Who is this "Tamarin"? She sounds like a trouble maker. Why haven't you done anything about her?!" If Coral had fire breath, she most certainly would be breathing out smoke. Anemone on the other claw, had her cheeks burn bright pink as she hissed at Turtle who snorted through trying to contain his laughter.
"Tamarin is a very well behaved student. She barely talks anyway." Sunny was really starting to regret Tsunami not being here.
Coral slumped in her seat. "She is trying to interrupt my dragonet's learning! She probably sees Anemone trying to focus and does something! Your teacher should focus more on her students."
"Tamarin wouldn't be able to see, your majesty." Sunny said as she squashed a small smirk. "She's blind."
Coral's mouth hung open for a moment as she considered this. "What? Why do you have a dragonet that can't even see?!"
"She doesn't need to! She can hear really well." Anemone muttered as she breathed a sigh of relief for some reason while Turtle gained his senses and stopped laughing at his sister's expense.
"Moving on, Turtle is a well behaved student, but I recommend some after class lessons for history. In fact, his whole winglet could use some history help." Sunny looked over her scroll that talked about how the winglet kept distracting each other, leaving Turtle by himself most of the time.
Another short burst of words from the Queen that Sunny had to sit through while Turtle tried to stop Coral. It seemed like Anemone was content with her evaluation and Turtle would probably be the same. It was usually the parents that were the problem in the end.
Now that the Queen had stopped, Sunny looked over her scroll again and looked up at Coral. "That's about it. I just need to mention that Turtle's bowl was confiscated after Qibli and Winter tried to use it to make multiple copies of finished homework to sell. Not his fault and he won't be blamed, but it is his."
A small scoff from the Queen and she stood up and walked out after nodding at Sunny, her kids following quickly. Sunny rested her head in her claws as Fatespeaker walked in with a worried look. The Principle took a minute and sat back up. "You can send in the final one. Has she arrived?"
Fatespeaker nodded. "Are you sure you don't need another minute? I'm sure they won't mind waiting."
Sunny shook her head. "Just get her ready."
After Fatespeaker left, more clawsteps could be heard as two Sandwings entered the room, both with huge smiles on their faces. "Mom, Qibli. Thank you for coming. I hope this can go well?"
Qibli smirked as he nodded. "Should be. Not like I've done anything wrong." He knew this was a lie and judging from Thorns laugh, she also knew and didn't care, much to her daughter's annoyance.
Thorn took her seat. "So, how has he been so far? Not being too disruptive, is he?" She joked while Sunny hid her actual feelings with a slight decline in her smile.
"Actually, he has been a little disruptive. I have multiple reports-" Sunny began laying the scrolls on top of each other. "-that he tends to annoy WInter, who has sent many complaints, and Webs in particular has loads of issues during his lessons."
The trouble maker rolled his eyes as he stared at the scrolls. "Come on, he is the most boring teacher ever! You have no idea what he's like in his class!" Thorn nodded in agreement, apparently Qibli did talk to her about school.
"Believe me, I know how...drown out, he can be. But, that doesn't justify all of these." She said as she unrolled a scroll. "Dropping squealing bats in his cave, putting rotten meat in the scroll case, mixing up his notes with Clay's food plan for the week, should I keep going?"
Thorn tried her hardest not to chuckle while Sunny groaned at the two not caring. "I see, well I will make sure that he learns his lesson." Thorn said as she started to stand up before Sunny stopped her.
"Actually, we have another idea. You see, I recently found out that a new form of detention would work for people who disrupt our class hours. Don't worry, it's not physical, in fact, it's a really good way to help the dragons find new meaning in nature!" She waved at the door way while the two gained worried glances.
Deathbringer and Fatespeaker carried a limp, sea blue dragon and dropped her on the table. "Here boss. Glory sends her regards." The Nightwing smirked and mock bowed, winking at a shimmer in the corner before leaving.
Qibli jumped, startled as he saw his teacher muttering something about sloths as she curled up and shivered. "Tsunami chose to test the program! And now you can see the results. Now, does it look like something you'd want to try?"
Qibli gulped as he shifted a bit closer to Thorn, who looked at the once fierce Seawing shivering on the table. "Wh-what did you do to her?!" Sunny did feel bad for scaring the two, but she felt better knowing that Jade academy would have much less foolishness going on.
Sunny shrugged. "Nothing too bad, just my new program." She said sweetly with a huge smile. "So, Qibli, will we be having more disruptions?" Just so long as Qibli doesn't know what actually happened, this should work.
The Sandwing shook his head quickly and once they were dismissed, the two rushed out, Qibli somehow getting ahead of Thorn. Sunny turned to Tsunami and poked her head. "Geez, he really did a number on you."
Fatespeaker walked back in and sighed. "I have to carry her to her room, don't I?"
Sunny nodded. "That's what you get paid for!" she said as she put the scrolls back in their respective locations.
The Nightwing rolled her eyes. "I don't get paid. When I had my vision about hanging out with Starflight for the rest of my life, I didn't think it would involve carrying my least favorite of you guys around a school."
Sunny tilted her head. "So who's second? Me or Clay?" Sunny asked.
Fatespeaker grunted as she lifted Tsunami onto her back and started walking. "In hopes of not being fired, I am choosing to remain silent."
Sunny laughed to herself and started cleaning her office. A few hours and Tsunami would be back to normal, just with the added benefit of never mentioning that drawing again. A small shimmer in the corner of her room made her look up and smile. "How's Mangrove?"
Glory chuckled. "He had the time of his life. So, why just show Qibli? There's got to be more students like that."
Sunny nodded. "Yup, but you really think Qibli is going to keep this to himself? If the whole school doesn't know in two days, I'll eat a scavenger!"
"Not after the queen council you won't." Glory mocked as she started to leave.
And thus ends the Tsunami and Mangrove arc! This went through way too many attempts before finally finishing it to my liking…Time to work on something else! Expect more Seawing family shenanigans I guess.
