How long have I been asleep?... How long has it been so cold?... I can't wake up.. This sleep is too heavy... That is, until I feel a pulse somewhere nearby. Its a familiar pulse, echoing an energy that lies just under my own skin. It feels like a heart beat, calling me up into consciousness. My eyelids feel heavy and weary as I manage to open then, my green eyes scanning around me. Frosted glass surrounds me, and I can see by breath rising in little clouds, like if I breathed deep enough, a flame would burst from my lips.

I try to move, but I find my arms are held by metal brackets. I can't feel the cold of the metal from my numb arms, but I feel my eyes brighten as the energy within me swells. Around the bracket, green energy crackles to lift and forces them apart in a malfunction. I stagger forward and brace myself against the glass, but it suddenly gives way and I fall to the ground outside the cryo chamber.

The lights around me suddenly turn bright red, and an alarm sounds somewhere down a distant hallway, followed by a mechanical voice that blairs out "The prototype has escaped! Warning! The Prototype has escaped!" over and over again.

I take deep breaths of the warm air around me, finding the source of the pulsing I sensed. A green gem, no bigger than the center of my palm, glows with the same light that crackled from me earlier. On instinct I grab it, feeling new energy flow into me like a refreshing breath. I stood, my mind clearing. I was in a bunker. And the warnings were about me. The Scientists and Soldiers would be here soon... I look around, spotting another tube nearby. Inside is my friend. His eyes are still closed, in a similar state as I was a moment ago.

"Sh-Sha-dow..." I mutter, my senses reaching out for him like they've done many times in the past. I could sense his slow heart beat, calm, and sleeping, as well as his fogged mind. Though I couldn't read minds, I felt intentions... and feeling Shadow so... empty... it brought a new chill to my bones.

I hear the clattering of boots on metal floors and stiffen. Soldiers. And scientists that would wake me now and then for study. I move to Shadow's tube, knocking on it to try and wake him. But it's no use. He's deep in stasis. There's no waking him...

"HALT!"

I spin on my heels as Soldiers surround me. I can't stay. Even though I want to... I glare at the soldiers, the gem gleaming in my palm. I need somewhere safe. It glows in response to my wish.

"Chaos!" I yell, the power within me warming as I felt time slow. I was getting away. But I would be back for my friend. "CONTROL!" I'm surrounded by a flash of light, and I vanish.
