Day 3 of Sonaze Week is here and this prompt is First Date. This should be fun. Enjoy!
"You wanna go on a what with me?" Sonic is confused by what Blaze told him.
"A date. I have seen many people go on one of these dates a lot, so I want to experience it myself and you are the only person I know to ask out."
Sonic feels uncomfortable when Blaze suggested a date out of the blue. "No offense, Blaze, but dates are not usually my thing. I prefer to running or kicking Eggman's butt whenever he attacks."
"Have you ever been on a date before, Sonic?"
"I tried with Amy after the world was put back together, but she got angry at me because she thought I forgot about it and I almost got clobbered by her hammer."
"I promise I won't hurt you with my power if you ever forget the date. I would understand it."
More like be confused if he told her that he got suck into a book and is chosen to save the storybook world from evil. He then notices the serious look in Blaze's eyes. "You really want to do this dating thing, do you?"
"I do."
Sonic lets out a sigh. "Alright. I'll do it. We'll meet at the plaza around 6:00 p.m."
"Okay. Then I will prepare myself for the date." Soon Blaze left Sonic to go get ready for their first date.
Sonic has a couple of hours to find some place datable to book. And also to stay away from books so that he won't get suck into it.
It's now 6:00 p.m and Sonic is at the plaza waiting for Blaze to show up. He is not the patient kind of guy so he's been tapping his foot a lot.
"Ah. Sonic. You're here early." Sonic's ears perk a bit when he heard Blaze.
"Well, it's about time you showed-" Sonic was about say before he stopped and suddenly looked at Blaze for a moment. She was wearing a nice purple floral dress and her hair was not in a high ponytail like usual. The way she looked made Sonic, for the first time ever, speechless.
Blaze gets a little concerned about how Sonic is. "Are you alright? You kind of stopped there."
Sonic snaps back into reality when Blaze spoke. "Sorry. Just that the dress and the hair kind of surprise me a bit."
"Is it not normal for a woman to dress formally and having her hair down?"
"Uh… Maybe? I just… never see you kind of pretty like." Oh man, now he's flustered? So not like him.
"I had Marnie help me prepare for the date. Speaking of which, where shall we go for the date?"
"Oh, right. I got reservations at this restaurant I found here we can eat, and then after that, we can go for a walk around the park and just… talk?"
"Alright. Let us go to this restaurant you mention."
Sonic and Blaze head to the restaurant to start this first date. Hope it won't be too awkward.
The restaurant the two arrived at is very fancy, too bad Sonic doesn't wear pants and is not the fancy type of person, but Blaze is a princess, so this is the best place he could find.
Blaze is looking through the menu to see what she should eat, and Sonic doesn't need to bother to look at a menu as he already knows what he is getting. They both got a glass of water to drink.
The waiter then came to their table. "Are you two ready to order?"
"Yes. I believe so."
"Alright then. What shall you be having, your highness?"
Blaze looks at the menu for a moment before facing the waiter. "I will have the panini pasta, no shrimp please."
The waiter writes it down and turns to face Sonic. "And what about you, sir?"
"That's an easy one for me. One chili dog please!"
The waiter blinked when Sonic said his order, then he clears his throat. "Sir, we don't serve chili dogs here."
It was Sonic turn to blink when the waiter said that. "What?"
"I said we don't serve chili dogs."
"What do you mean you don't serve chili dogs? This is a restaurant, right?"
"Yes, but chili dogs is something we don't serve cause this is an elegant restaurant, we can't just make them at your request."
Okay, now this pisses off Sonic as he jumps on his chair. "This is unacceptable! Having no chili dogs in a restaurant is a crime against nature, buddy!"
"Um… Sonic?"
Sonic turns to look at Blaze, who points at some of the people in this restaurant eating staring at him because of his outburst. He kind of feels a sweat drop on his head and immediately sits back down in his chair and clears his throat. "I mean, I understand your reasoning and will have the same food my date is having."
The waiter manages to write down Sonic's order. "Would you like to have some appetizers while your order is being cooked."
"Yeah… Sure…"
"And what would you like to have?"
"…Breadsticks…"
The waiter writes it down and then leaves Sonic and Blaze's table to get the breadsticks ready. After the waiter left, Sonic face plants his face onto the table in embarrassment.
"Sonic, it's fine. You didn't know that the restaurant don't serve chili dogs. Besides, it might be best to try something new instead of eating the same food everyday."
Sonic groaned on the table and he stayed like this until their food is served.
After the dinner, they left the restaurant and arrive at the park. Blaze was admiring the scenery as she walked while Sonic is somehow lagging behind. It's not like him to be lagging behind, but due to his embarrassing outburst at the restaurant, he just somehow felt like lagging.
Blaze stopped walking and turn to face the blue blur. "Sonic, you're not still thinking about what happened at the restaurant, are you? It's fine. You didn't get in trouble."
"I know, but it was still embarrassing. I told you dating is not my thing! I don't go to fancy restaurants because they don't have freaking chili dogs, which by the way should really add on the menu, and I just caused a scene! It was a mistake to do this. I'm sorry, Blaze, I know you want to do this whole first date thing, but it's just not working out for me… I should just take you back to the castle and forget this whole thing."
Blaze walks up to Sonic and places her hand on his shoulder. "Sonic, it was never a mistake to do this. I suggest to go on the date to see how my people do it and experience it myself with someone else, and even though you embarrassed yourself at the restaurant, I'm actually having a fun night."
Sonic's eyes widen on what Blaze had said. "Really?"
"Yes. So, don't blame yourself for that, and we don't have to end the date so suddenly. We still have time left before it will officially ends. So, will you still do it?"
Sonic was silent for a moment and looks at the ground, then after a couple of seconds, looks at Blaze with a grin on his face. "Sure. We can still do this whole thing, even if I screw something up."
Blaze smiles as to see Sonic in high spirits again.
Suddenly a small ball of light appeared before them, which surprised them a bit. Soon more small balls of light appeared all over the park. These small balls of light are actually fireflies flying around.
Blaze is amazed by the fireflies flying all around the park. It makes the scenery even more beautiful. Sonic smiles and joins in to watch the fireflies.
After of couple of minutes of silence of watching the fireflies, Blaze breaks the silence. "You know, at the end of the date, I heard that the gentleman gives the lady a goodnight kiss, if you feel like it."
Sonic's whole face turns all red when Blaze said that. "Nope! Nuh-uh! Not happening! The date is good enough!"
"I had a feeling you would say that."
Blaze continues to watch the fireflies while Sonic is facing away from them, still flustered by Blaze's words. Then after a couple of minutes of thinking, Sonic quickly gives her a kiss on the cheek, which surprises Blaze a bit.
She looks at Sonic, who is facing away from her to hide his really red blushy face. "I felt bad about what I said before, so it was a quick one, okay?!"
Soon Blaze gives Sonic a genuine smile. "Thank you, Sonic, for this wonderful first date."
Now this prompt was a bit long than the other two. I also added references from Sonic Unleashed and the ending of Sonic and the Black Knight about that one date that Sonic was supposed to take Amy, but somehow got involved into saving Camelot and Amy got mad at him, thinking he forgot. But anyway, I hope you all enjoy this story and will do the next prompt.
