Chapter 2: Bella's point of view.
A couple of days later and it's Monday morning. Uncle Billy had dropped my clothes off in the driveway, over the weekend, a safe distance from the front door, so as not to upset Sam, and now it's time for me to go to School. It should have been easy but it was not.
I didn't enjoy going to Fork's high, but Sam did have jobs to do around the res, that he couldn't really put off and I didn't particularly want to be on my own. Oh, and another new change is that I now have a pretty sparkler on my left finger! Apparently, no child of his will be born out of wedlock. He'd had this made when he became a wolf and learned of imprinting and mates. He'd saved his mothers money, she left him. So he decided to save it for the woman of his heart.
We deliberately came this way earlier than we needed to and had breakfast at the diner, which I was surprised to find open this early. I'd never really taken notice of the opening times before that's posted up in the middle of the front door, the few times Charlie took me here since I came back at the end of October.
I did warn Sam coming here might not be a good idea, due to gossip! But he didn't care. He's Alpha, and I'm his mate. Nobody else except the pack and elders mattered to him, even then he said I come first, now and our baby, that could be (he likes to say: is) growing inside of me. I have also gotten used to the thought, that I may be a young mum. Sam himself is only twenty-two, to my almost eighteen. So there isn't that much of an age gap. I also felt thankful that Charlie got me out of doing P.E, so that was one less thing I had to worry about. I got to sit in the library instead, which suited me just fine.
"I can feel how nervous you are babe, you don't have to do this if you don't want to? I don't particularly feel comfortable with the thought of you being all the way over here, and not close. I'd personally prefer it, if you and the baby are close, but I understand also that this is your education, even though you are set up for life, as the Alpha's, soon to be wife." I sat cuddled in his lap, and even a thin piece of paper couldn't even fit between us. That's how glued to each other we are.
"Let's just see how it goes, for the next few weeks. There are only a few months left. June isn't that far away, right?" I ask him, kissing his chin.
"True, but when we confirm the pregnancy in mid-March beginning of April, I want to re-visit this conversation and see how you feel then. Mama wolves can be rather protective of their baby and bodies. They don't always want to go out, or be around others… they want to nest, stay in to set things up for the pups."
"But I'm not a wolf Sam… I'm a human, mated to a sexy Alpha. Maybe I'll feel something like that because it's your baby, and you are a wolf. I've never really been around pregnant women or young children in general. It has always just been me and my mum until creepy Laurent and his friends started to come around. I stopped coming here when I was ten, after Charlie left me alone for eleven days, deciding to go fishing on his own, instead of spending time with his daughter! It wasn't until a strange man found me, after knocking on the front door. He had the same colour skin as you, and Uncle Billy's, and I didn't feel afraid of him either, a thought that has always bugged me. He picked me up, put me in his car and took me to the res, and dropped me off at Billy's place mumbling, stuff I can't remember or didn't catch. I remember him staying for a coffee, but I must have fallen asleep as I don't remember him going. I have never even told Mum that story! Uncle Billy told me not to tell anyone, and that he will have words with Charlie. I'm not sure why I've blurted all of this out now!" I noticed a few cars pull into the parking lot and I recognised some of the teachers, as they got out. Sam was quiet for a while after I blurted all that out, a memory I'd buried deep.
"I think it might be a good idea to re-visit this conversation with Billy around the fire pit at home if you are truly not bothered about having a proper wedding… I could also have him bring papers up?" Sam asked.
"I've never been good with crowds, and I'm most definitely not a dress kinda girl, so I'd be happy with that idea, rather than planning and stressing over it." Sam kissed my lips then, just as a knock on the window spoked me, but not Sam who was clearly already aware of someone approaching. I came face to face with a red-faced Charlie who stood there looking in. Fuck! We'd been outed already, that didn't take long!
"I hate to say it, but I told you so," I said to Sam. He rolled down the window just above halfway down.
"Chief Swan," he greeted him, in a neutral tone.
"Uley! Get out, and get off my daughter. I don't believe any of that fantasy bullshit, Billy told me the other night and I won't let you and Billy brainwash Bella."
"Ch-Dad, I'm staying with Sam and I've chosen Sam! Don't dismiss things you don't understand, or choose not to." I told him, feeling rather embarrassed and a bit angry.
"For once Bella, just do as you are told," Charlie snapped. I raised an eyebrow at him, as Sam tensed.
"Are you forgetting that time you left me on my own to go fishing? And some stranger came knocking on the door and took me to Uncle Billy's? Don't start telling me what to do, and taking an interest just because I've found someone, who's my forever and chosen to be with him. For the first time in my life, I actually feel safe, loved and wanted. If you make me choose? That is an easy choice for me to make, as it'll always be Sam. You also went almost, an entire year without responding to my texts or calls except to wish me a happy birthday or merry Christmas one year!" I reminded him.
Charlie turned several shades of purple and red, and I swear his vein is going to pop out at any second. His mouth also moved but no sound came out of it!
"Your mother never told you, did she?" He asked me suddenly through gritted teeth and changing the subject completely as he narrowed his eyes at Sam. I looked at Sam who was eyeing Charlie with a look of vague interest, but his glares and temper didn't bother him one bit, and I loved him even more for that.
"That man, who took you to Billy's is your biological father, who came back to Fork's, and chewed my ass a new one! For leaving you alone, even though I had just gotten back from fishing and was about to phone Billy as he is the only other number you'd have known around here, other than the police station." I stared at him in shock, the parking lot was starting to fill up.
"What did you just say?" I asked him in disbelief. Charlie actually dared to roll his eyes.
"You aren't stupid Bella, you know exactly what I just said. If you're old enough to rush into bed with the first man that lays eyes on you, then you're old enough to know the truth!" I moved so quickly none of them could stop me and I pushed the door open fast, so Charlie wouldn't have time to react and he yelled and wobbled as the door caught him, causing heads to stare. I got out of the vehicle and got in Charlie's personal space, poking him in the chest as I spoke my next words, carefully.
"Don't you dare assume you know everything? And don't you dare just leave me hanging like that you asshole." I grab his handcuffs and before he can react I handcuff his wrist and the other cuff to Sam's wing mirror.
"What the fuck Isabella!" Charlie yells, in shock. I knew there was an audience but I really didn't care.
"Who the fuck is my real father then Charlie?" I yell in his face, as I hear gasps, and then I feel Sam's arms wrap around me from behind, bringing my hands with him. To stop me from liking Charlie in the chest.
"Is she Quileute?" Sam asked in his Alpha tone, the same one he used on Paul. Charlie looked up at him in shock, and his lips turned into a thin line.
"I asked you a question, Swan. Is my fiancée a Quileute? That is an easy enough question to answer." Sam said.
"Half," He clearly mumbled out reluctantly, he'd seemed to completely miss what Sam said.
"Why tell me if you aren't going to give me details?" I asked him, feeling hurt, and genuinely confused. I feel Sam tense, as his other arm goes around my waist, pulling me even closer to him.
"Un-cuff me first, and I'll tell you somewhere more private." I shook my head and narrowed my eyes.
"I never took away your keys, and (I did this time, dangling them in his face - his eyes widened and he swore) I will give them back when you tell me the truth. You BOTH owe me that at least." By now the car park was empty, and a few P.E teachers and the principal lingered nearby, to where we stood.
"I regret teaching, ya brat a few things now, at least I know you listened! Never thought I'd get cuffed by my own bloody cuffs." He grumbled.
"If it's the only way I'm going to get answers, then that is what I will do, to get what I want."
"Ask Billy, he more than likely has more information than I do. Come by the house and collect the rest of your shit. I'm don't with you and that bitch, of a mother of yours! Fuck knows how you haven't gone insane."
"I escaped as soon as I had the opportunity too. She's really outdone herself this time, with that creep Laurent and his friends. I swear his eyes turned red, one time." I felt Sam shift and felt his worry spike.
"Your all fucking crazy, tell Billy I'm done with him too, and his hatred and warnings regarding certain families in Fork's, who've never broken the law, and don't deserve his warnings and banishment from the res."
"I'll pass it on, loud and clear," Sam said.
"You don't need to push Uncle Billy away, Charlie. That is not very fair, or nice."
"You don't know everything Bella, now uncuff me." I chucked him the keys and turned away from him, sinking myself as far into Sam as I could get. This is when the principal came over.
"We didn't want to interrupt until everything calmed down. I first, would like to ask if Miss Swan, are you feeling up to continuing the day or would you rather go with Mr…?" He trailed off.
"Mr Uley, and that is up to Miss Swan."
"I'd rather not," I say, feeling Sam's happiness.
"Then feel free to leave when you are ready. Chief Swan, I would like a word with you in my office."
"Why do I get the feeling I am in trouble?" I hear Charlie grumble.
"Because maybe you are?" The principal said as if this should have been obvious.
"They've gone, babe," Sam said, after a while.
"Did all of that just happen?"
"Let's go find Billy!" Sam said kissing my forehead.
