"You confess?" Spike asked as Xander let himself into the basement.
"Yeah," he replied, as he dumped his stuff. He caught Spike's raised eyebrow. "What?"
"Not how I expected you to be after," he replied with a shrug.
"Which would be?" he prompted.
"Sulking because she dumped you, or relieved because she forgave you and didn't."
"Okay, can't be upset over that, since I thought she'd at the least be pissed at me, which would likely lead to her dumping me," he mused. "She was only upset that she hadn't been invited to join us," he admitted in a rush.
"Huh. Suppose she's been a demon longer than she's been a human."
"Yeah-" he paused as a thought occurred to him. "Wait, you thought she was going to dump me, yet you still-" he cut off with a blush.
Spike grinned, before sobering. "Ever seen a cat with catnip?" he asked. Xander nodded. "You smelled that good to me," he stated. "I used up most of my willpower not pouncing on you when you were asleep."
"Most?" he asked suspiciously.
"If you hadn't been interested, I would have found what I needed to back off," he stated. "Since that wasn't the case…"
"Since I was just as effected, can't be mad at you over that," he sighed.
"So," the vampire started with a smirk, "she wrangle any promises out of you?"
Xander blushed. "If I feel the urge for your – or any other male's – company, I have to invite her to join us."
"And if said partner doesn't want her company?"
"She's happy to watch," he continued, blushing harder.
"I'll keep that in mind."
