So, if you haven't noticed, this is in response to the fact that the most recent Death Battle- The one between Jonathan Joestar and Tanjirou by the way-, and that I really frickin wanted to see what could have happened after the ending. Spoilers, if you haven't watched it, in case you intended to. I'll give you a break in the text so that you can either go and watch it, or just continue on and read if you already have or just don't care.

We all good? Everything alright? Okay. Jojo won. Now, that is the very short version of events. For those of you who watched, you know. For those of you who didn't, the gist of it is that Jonathan promised Tanjiro that he would take care of Nezuko In his place. So, like I said, this is my take on what could have happened if that little story continued. So, you know…enjoy.

Oh, one last thing, for real this time. I have to say that before I watched that Death Battle, I had seen maybe…the first episode of Demon Slayer? So I don't know a lot of what happens In there. I do know the characters and their personalities, but not a whole lot else. Some of you might be thinking, 'Then why the hell are you writing this you fucking retard!?', to which I would say 'Owie, my feelings'. Still, that video moved me so much that I'm writing this anyway. Besides, I'm probably going to write their adventures separately from Demon Slayer. Mostly because the battle depicts Nezuko as still Demon. Which she was cured of near the end of the series, after Tanjiro fought and killed Michael Jackson…I mean Muzan. Still, I'll probably lean this more towards Jojo's storyline anyway. Because if we were to take this at the end of Phantom Blood, Jonathan would already be dead. Still, I'll still include a few characters from Demon Slayer. If I need to know anything crucial, I'll either look at the wiki or you guys will tell me. I don't plan for this to be particularly long, but it isn't going to be too short either.

TLDR; I'm writing a fanfiction about a Death Battle between Jonathan and Tanjiro while having never watched Demon Slayer.

"She's my…sister." The felled swordsman wheezed out, laying in a pool of his own blood. He had been bested. After so many years of hard training, he was beaten down by a man he now knew only misunderstood the situation. Still, that last punch, and the energy it held, had ruptured most of his organs. In a few short seconds, he would die. The only reason he could still speak was because of his breathing techniques, drilled into him for the entirety of his training. He supposed it wouldn't matter in the end.

"She's…oh no. What have I done?" Jonathan exclaimed, seeing the glint of sorrow in this young man's eyes. His words held truth. He realized that the only reason he had been traveling with that demon was because he wanted to protect her from people like him. Protect her from those that would see the demon and believe that he was working for her. What a fool he had been. If he had just been willing to listen…

"I…I'm so sorry. I wish I could take it all back." Jonathan said, kneeling down to the prone samurai. Tanjiro smiled at the blue haired man. Despite everything, from what he was able to gleam, he believed that they would have been friends.

"It's…alright. I can tell you only had pure intentions. Maybe…maybe in another life, we might have worked together. Friends, even. Now, I just have…one last request." Tanjiro coughed out, blood seeping from his mouth. He was using all of his strength to stay alive long enough to ask one thing of this man. His only wish.

"P-please. Leave her alone. I don't care that you've killed me, just please…please promise me you'll leave Nezuko alone." He pleaded, tears welling up in his eyes. The larger man placed his arms underneath Tanjiro, gently cradling him in his arms. Jonathan began tearing up as well. These injuries were too severe for him to properly heal. If he tried, he would expand his lungs too far and pierce one of them on the sword in his chest. Still, he knew he could not oblige the dying man's last request.

"My apologies, but I cannot make that promise." He said in a low tone. Tanjiro seemed disheartened at his words, yet knew that he could not do anything now. He had fought his best to protect Nezuko, but it just wasn't enough. However, Jonathan's next words had caught him off guard.

"I solemnly swear, I Jonathan Joestar shall make this decree; By my honor as a gentleman, I will protect her with my life!" He declared, his tears running down his cheeks. Tanjiro stared at him for a moment, but smiled once more. Hopefully, this 'Jonathan' would do a better job at protecting her than he did. For now, he was going to go visit his mother and siblings. That sounded nice. It had been a while since he saw them. He wondered briefly what he should bring as a welcoming gift?

"Rest well, valiant warrior. You shall be remembered. I will make sure of it." Jonathan whispered; His eyes shadowed as he pulsed with Hamon, sending a single shock through the fallen samurai's body. He stopped both his heart and brain functions, ensuring a painless death. The man's eyes dulled and his hand fell to the ground.

Tanjiro Kamado was no more.

Jonathan stayed still for a moment, still mourning for the life he had taken today. An innocent soul, taken by his hand over a misunderstanding.

"Truly, I am sorry. It never should have ended this way. But I promise you, I will make sure your death was not in vain. Though I may not have known your name, maybe I will, in time. And hopefully, I will know your story as well." The Joestar said to himself as he placed his adversary down. He put his hands together, praying not only for forgiveness, but for the safe and timely departure of this innocent soul to the afterlife.

Cccccccccc

Nezuko watched this interaction from behind a tree, tears in her eyes. She didn't understand. That bastard had just killed her brother! Yet when they talked…they seemed to acknowledge each other, and come to an understanding. Tanjiro even seemed at peace. She watched, perplexed as the man now known as Jonathan Joestar sent a bit of that strange energy through her brother, making him go still.

She had so many emotions running through her body. Anger, sadness, grief, rage, fear, disgust, emptiness, guilt. She wanted so badly to give in to her bloodlust, to charge in and kill the bastard that murdered her brother. Yet, Jonathan's actions of praying for her Tanjiro had once again perplexed her. A small part of her brain reminded her that the look on Jonathan's face when it was revealed that she was the Kamado's sister, Jonathan seemed immediately regretful and showed genuine sorrow for what he had done.

Tanjiro's comment of them having possibly been friends had stuck with her the most. She always saw Tanjiro as the voice of reason between them. Especially so since he was the only one that could bring her out of her enraged state. For him to hold no aggression for Jonathan, even when he had been the one to kill him, it was perplexing. Whether it was just a testament to his character, or if he truly saw good in the Joestar, she didn't know. She didn't know what to think anymore.

"I will carry this blade, and this scar…" Jonathan groaned, slowly pulling the blade out of his chest. He let out a few more pained sounds as the blood covered sword exited his body. Once he was done, he breathed in, allowing his Hamon to wash over the wound. It healed, but left obvious scar tissue in its place.

"As a reminder of my shame. Of my greatest mistake. I will carry you with me as I journey onward. I just hope that some day, I will have atoned for what I have done here." He finished, placing the sword into the scabbard that belonged to the now shattered Luck and Pluck. It wasn't a perfect fit, but he would make adjustments to right it.

He turned, hearing the rustling of grass and leaves approach him. It was then that he saw the same demon…Nezuko, was approaching him. At first, he couldn't meet her eyes, overwhelming shame washing over him. However, remembering his promise to the young man at his feet, he strode forward to meet her half way. When they were but a few feet apart, they stopped. The young woman looked at him, confused as to what to do now. She wasn't sure if she was going to attack him, not attack him or…

"I am terribly sorry. I know you may never forgive me, but I implore you, please allow me to fulfill my last wish to your brother. I don't care if you despise me, you have a right to. I beg of you, let me be your protector." Jonathan begged, reaching a hand forward. His eyes filled with both sorrow and conviction. The small demon before him hesitated for a moment, slowly reaching a hand forward. She had to ask herself, should she trust him? Tanjiro in his last moments seemed to be trusting of him. But…

In the last moment, she retracted her hand. She just couldn't forgive him. Not now.

She gave him a glare that told the gentleman that she was still angry with him. He knew she had a right to. He wouldn't even hold it against her if she attacked him right there. Yet, he could also see the sadness in that glare, of losing a loved one. He knew that feeling all too well. He lowered his hand, nodding. Still, she did not attack him. He was relieved at that. Even if she could not trust him, he would at least try to give her brother the respect he deserved.

"I understand. However, if you would allow me, I would like to give your brother's body a proper burial." He said, turning his back to the girl. She stared at him, briefly confused as to why he would take the rejection so easily. She expected him to get angry and attack her with his weird energy. At least then she would feel better about attacking him as well, without the thought of her brother giving the Joestar the okay to look after her.

"Though I may never earn your trust, I only ask that you lead me to where you would like to have him buried." Jonathan said, kneeling down low to pick the Kamado off the floor. Nezuko eyed her brother's still body with hurt eyes before turning away. As much as she hated this guy, she just knew in her heart that Tanjiro would have told her to allow him to accompany her. So, with a small tear, she walked away from him. Jonathan only nodded solemnly before following. Whether she didn't talk because of what happened, or because she didn't normally, he wouldn't comment on. They could make the trip entirely in silence if she wanted. He was just going to make sure that they did so safely. After that, he would still follow her, making sure that she was safe. Or at the very least, make sure she's left in capable hands before he leaves to go back to his own journey.

They continued walking, with Nezuko silently leading them. She would occasionally turn her head to either give him a glare or her brother's corpse a teary-eyed glance. Through it all, Jonathan never once spoke. If she wanted to do this in silence, then he was going to respect her wishes. Still, there was something off about the air around him. It wasn't coming from Nezuko, this was a different feeling. An ominous wind came through, almost like the one he felt when he first met Dio. It was unpleasant feeling, and he felt the need to inform Nezuko.

"There's something following us." He whispered, just loud enough for the girl to hear him. She only slightly turned her head, stopping in her tracks. She had preferred if he stayed silent, but now that she smelt the air, she too could tell that something was following them. She readied her claws, prepared to let at least a small portion of her anger out on whatever dared to get in her way. However, Jonathan's presence next to caused her to flinch. He was holding out Tanjiro's body to her.

"Allow me to take care of this. You may go on ahead. I will catch up with you when I can." The Joestar stated, gently laying the man's body into the arms of Nezuko. Her eyes were wide, very much feeling the weight of her brother's lifeless body. The unnatural coldness of his skin. The serene smile on his face.

"I don't know how many times I'll say it, or if you will ever believe me, but I truly am sorry. From the bottom of my heart, I'm sorry. But I made a promise to him that I would protect you, so I will do everything in my power to do so. To my last breath." Jonathan said as he turned away and took a few steps. He then concentrated on his breathing, allowing the power of Hamon to envelop him once more.

"Kill him in the name of Dio!" Someone said. Nezuko looked up from her brother's face to see that a small army of undead had come out of hiding. A single sniff of the air was able to tell her that these were minions to some greater demon. Most likely this Dio they referred to. Though one of them was able to speak clearly enough to shout that out, the rest of them were simply screaming or growling at them before they all charged forward.

"Go! I will join with you later!" Jonathan commanded, getting between the zombies and herself. The first zombie lunged at him before he threw a kick infused with Hamon, which caused the creature to be disintegrate into nothingness. He threw a punch, this one extending far from his body. The limb stretched forward to strike at another zombie, doing the same as it did the previous one. At this point, Nezuko looked away and back at her brother. She couldn't fight, not with her brother's body at risk.

As much as she hated it, she turned and ran, using a bit of her pent-up anger to make her running all that much faster while making sure she didn't damage Tanjiro.

"You will not harm her! I made a promise to protect her. A true gentleman always keeps his word!" Jonathan shouted as he battled against the horde of zombies. They were seemingly endless, with every one felled, another three would replace them. It would seem that his battle with Tanjiro had attracted unwanted attention. Such dishonorable monsters!

"Sendo Hamon Overdrive!" He yelled out as he punched the ground causing a shockwave of Hamon to erupt from him. In front of him, a similar pillar of Hamon erupted at the feet of another group of zombies, killing them instantly.

To anyone else, this might have seemed an impossible battle to win, with Jonathan being only one man against seemingly dozens of raging zombies. However, this was no ordinary man. This was a man motivated by a promise to a friend. The righteous fury of a gentleman surging through him, giving him the strength to keep fighting!

"I will not fall! I have my word as a gentleman to uphold! You vile creatures of the night will not impede me on my mission! You may send all of the forces of hell my way, but I will have felled them all before I allow even one of you to get past me!" He proclaimed, fighting even harder than before. One by one, the zombies charged him. One by one, they were all reduced to dust.

"Zoom Punch!" He cried out, tearing through the chest of one of the undead while also striking the one behind it before retracting his fist in order to spin and launch a kick at the three trying to attack him from behind. A large grouping of zombies jumped at him all at once, trying to overwhelm him with their numbers. However, he simply sent a flurry of punches to eliminate them in a flash.

After felling another zombie, he was finally given a bit of breathing room. He looked around, seeing that whatever remained of their forces were now retreating. More than likely to report their findings to Dio.

"Dio…I will defeat you, one day." He said to himself as he used Hamon to repair whatever damage had been done to him in the altercation. He then looked around, making sure no others were following him.

Making his way to where he saw Nezuko run off to, he kept running, hoping that she hadn't taken this opportunity to simply run from him. It was a high possibility, but he still needed to keep his word. He'd look all night If needed.

Nezuko was sitting by a tree, simply staring at her brother's face. She had run for quite a while, just trying to process everything that's happened. The tears falling from her cheeks were blurring her vision, but she didn't care. She couldn't bring herself to care about much of anything at this point. She had just lost the last piece of her family she had left. As much as she believed that Tanjiro wouldn't want her to be angry or sad over his death, she just couldn't bring herself to do so. Tanjiro was the most important person in her life. After their family had been murdered by a demon, herself turned into one, she didn't know what else to do now that he was gone. He always told her about their family when she couldn't properly remember about them herself. How she was such a caring sister for her younger siblings.

Guilt found it's way into her heart. Guilt of not being there when he needed her. Where she could have stepped in and made sure he didn't die, she simply…didn't. She had trusted that he would have been able to defeat Jonathan and come back to her, like he always did.

But he didn't.

His lifeless body held within her hands was grim reminder of that. Even if she wanted to, she wasn't sure if she could beat Jonathan. If he was able to best Tanjiro, then he might be able to do the same with her. Out of respect for her late brother, she would at least try not to lash out at the blue haired murderer. So long as he didn't do anything to attack her and was serious about keeping his word, she would do Tanjiro this last favor.

"Ah, there you are. I was…" Jonathan began, having found the girl. However, when he arrived, he noticed she gave him a glare with eyes full of tears. Once again, his heart ached with regret. He nodded, understanding that she didn't want to hear a word out of him. He stepped forward, kneeling down to take the boy's body from her. She held onto him for a moment, a twinge of weakness showing on her face, but let go in the end. Jonathan wordlessly stood back up, taking care not to drop the young man. He then allowed Nezuko to stand up as well, letting her lead once more.

It had been in the dead of night when Jonathan and Tanjiro had fought, but now as they walked further into the forest the scenery transitioned from a beautiful green to chilling snow. The gentleman also noticed that the sky was beginning to brighten, and with it, a danger to Nezuko.

"We should stop for now and find some cover. The sun should be up soon." Jonathan suggested quietly. Nezuko said nothing, but stopped. She then turned to the nearest tree, and with a swipe of her claws cut it down, allowing a few rays of the sun to shine upon her. The Joestar was going to rush forward and block the sun from damaging her, but noticed that she was unaffected by it. He was shocked for a moment, his beliefs that demons and vampires vaporized when hit by sunlight shattering. Perhaps, Dio could do the same. He certainly was a powerful vampire, one stronger than even Tarkus, so maybe he could also overcome this weakness.

Nezuko strode forward, having made her point. They were still a ways from her home town, but they'd make it there in time. She knew Tanjiro would want to be buried next to the rest of their family, so It's what she was going to do.

And so the two continued walking, getting closer and closer to their seemingly first and final stop. However, what neither of them knew, was that a certain vampire was going to learn of his plan's failure. And was going to adjust it accordingly so that he would rid that Jojo and whatever creature he had taken under his wing.

His victory would be assured, and with it, he would rule the world.

Going to point this out now, not going to update this anytime soon. I'm serious about this, it's not going to get updated withing the next two months. Again, this isn't going to be an overarching story either. It's going to be relatively short. Maybe fifteen chapters long, at most. They'll be longer than this one for sure, probably ten thousand words each, but I'm not going to go crazy with the plotline. As much as the Death Battle inspired me, this is still a crossover including a franchise I know next to nothing about. So, take this with a grain of salt. If someone's able to write a better plot for this, more power to them. I wanted this to at least exist, but I'm certainly not the guy to keep this going. I'll try my hardest if I have to. I'll even try to watch as much of the show as I can if it comes down to it, but it would probably be better if someone else were to do this. Think of this as a catalyst for future works like this. Anyway, that's enough out of me. I gotta go. See ya in another work of mine. Toodles~!
