A new Day, A new Squad
Perhaps saying training with Squad Daveen hard was being a little generous. Training amongst the best of the best was — not surprisingly, a much more difficult task. Lily often found herself fighting against new challenges, honing herself into a deadly point amongst her new peers.
Working with Petra again was a gift in and of itself, the woman was over the moon when she found out. Having rushed to their old shared dorm to accost Lily in a bear hug with excited exclamations about their future time together in their new-shared squad.
Even the other members of Squad Levi were friendly and welcoming. Eld spent a long time during the start of her induction into the Squad just perfecting her solo form, her cuts far more accurate — even if she had to rely more on her momentum then her lacking strength.
Gunther, while not incredibly talkative, spent a lot of time sharing a comradely silence with her as they worked at chores, often helping Lily when the shorter woman couldn't reach the top shelves.
Oluo however was proving to still be a continuous pain in her ass.
And this training session unfortunately was no exception to his endlessly blabbering mouth. A blabbering mouth Lily was challenged with outwardly ignoring.
"C'mon rookie, at this point you'll be eating our dust before you can even blink." Oluo called out over his shoulder as he led the way through the ODM training grounds, his wires launching him from tree to tree effortlessly.
Lily scowled, opting to ignore the taller man to concentrate on her current objective; performing and practicing team tactics. Petra tossed the other man a glare from her position ahead of the two.
"Why don't you help her rather than belittle her?!"
"Tch, that's your job."
"You could help!"
"I am, she needs to go faster!"
Lily felt a headache build behind her eyes. Oluo she could ignore, however whenever Petra defended the blonde woman, the two would be at it for hours if left alone long enough, bickering like an old married couple — while amusing at first, quickly became old after some time. She let out a sigh. "Let's just focus on the objective for once."
"Tch," Oluo relented as Petra glanced at the blonde woman, almost looking sheepish as she sent her a weary smile.
"Alright, I want the three-point. Show me what you've got!" Eld's voice called out to them, coming up on their left flank as he nodded to the trio. Lily felt her body tense as she watched Oluo and Petra split off either side of her.
"Aye!" The three called out as they flung themselves into position before the next titan dummy.
Petra and Oluo acted with well practiced timing, both carving up a mock-titan's arms as Lily swung in towards where it's eyes would be. The three-point referenced an attack aimed simultaneously at both arm ligaments and the eyes, rendering the titan unable to grab and unable to see its prey. Leaving the nape completely open.
"I have nape!" Lily called out, her anchors already latched into the mock-titan as she coiled her body like a spring — right blade flipping backwards as she arched herself into a spin.
However she never actually reached the nape as she instead collided harshly with a body. She let out a yelp, her body losing its balance momentarily as she plummeted to the floor. With quick instincts, she rolled her body mid-air, catching her anchors into the bark of a tree with enough time to slow her descent enough to roll unceremoniously onto the dirt.
Oluo collided more harshly onto the dirt moments after her, his string of curses leaving his lips as two sets of wires whirred by them. Petra and Eld threw the pair concerned looks as Lily dusted herself off with an unimpressed expression.
"What happened up there? I thought Lily called out that she had the nape this time?" Petra questioned, her head tilting as she approached.
"I didn't think the rookie had it so I did instead, turns out someone wasn't paying attention to their surroundings!" Oluo exclaimed, rubbing his left arm with an annoyed expression.
"Oluo, she called the kill, why would you challenge that?" Petra's face twisted in anger. "Are you trying to sabotage her?"
"Wouldn't have been an issue if she kept track of her surroundings instead of tunnel-visioning her kills! What if I was another titan's hand?"
"That's not the point, she had called the kill!"
"Where's my scarf?" Lily's usually flat tone twinged with a sense of urgency as she patted herself down, eyes darting around the area in an increasingly frantic search for the memento.
"What, this?" Oluo held his hand out, the blue scarf hanging limply from his hand. "You really should reconsider what you wear, it's just going to keep falling off, or worse — get caught on something. Impractical really."
Lily gingerly took the item from his hands, wrapping it carefully around her neck swiftly, taking a moment to secure it back. Petra puffed up, her eyes narrowing at their training partner.
"Oluo! Her sister gave her that!" The ginger gestured to Lily, who froze like a deer in headlights as she glanced between the pair. "And her sister isn't alive anymore, have some respect!"
Oluo's eyes widened as he glanced back at Lily, who had pointedly turned away, not wishing to be pitied. His mouth opened and closed, a conflicted expression crossing his features.
"I'm Sorry, Lillian."
"Don't. It's fine."
A beat passed between the trio as Eld made his way forward, his expression pulled into a look of concern and slight exasperation. A hand ran through his hair, pulling a few loose strains from his bun as he glanced between the three.
"What are we going to do with you three. You're completely fine anywhere else but the moment we group you up you run around like headless chickens." It seemed all three of them wore various degrees of sheepish and shameful looks. Lily let out a long exhale, her hand tugging at her scarf fondly as gave the squads second-in-command a tired look.
"I honestly don't know." Lily admitted, glancing over her shoulder at the two others. A weight started to build in her stomach as she began to wonder if she would be able to hold her place amongst the elite.
Sensing the current atmosphere, Eld held up a hand with a deep sigh. "Alright, that's enough for today. Might as well spend the rest of what would have been our training cleaning out your horses stalls."
Petra threw Eld a weak smile as she nodded her head, making her way towards the stables. Lily followed closely behind, unusually quiet as she pondered over her current predicament. The three passed into their respective horses stalls, the sound of hard work audible as they shoved out the muck quickly.
Another sight left her lips as Lily threw herself into the methodical work of cleaning her horses stalls. There wasn't much to do as she often kept Kahavi's stall much cleaner than many other scouts did. Often finding that she used cleaning as a means to do something other than thinking.
Oftentimes when her insomnia kept her up late at night, she'd find herself in some public place of headquarters, a mop, broom or cloth in hand as she mindlessly cleaned down the room. It was easier than sitting in her room at the mercy of her endlessly anxious mind. She vaguely remembered her doctor once suggesting that the worst thing she could do during a bout of insomnia was to just lay there, he had suggested she go for a walk or occupy her mind.
She silently registered the two were bickering once more — something about how clean each other's stalls were, more than likely Oluo trying to emulate the Captain and his own cleanliness. She knew the taller man wouldn't dare question Lily's stall, if only because she'd purposely pick apart his own cleaning with a fine-tooth-comb to prove a point.
Her mind wandered to the training session once more as she emptied and refilled Kahavi's water. Despite their constant arguing, Petra and Oluo were in perfect sync whenever they were paired together. Which begged the question of where does it go wrong when Lily is thrown into the mix. If she's unable to find a rhythm with them, how is she supposed to continue working amongst them?
With a little more aggression than needed, she shoved in a new bale of hay for Kahavi, finding her own frustration at the month-long problem seeping into her actions.
"Oi, What do you think Lily?" Petra's voice pulled her from her own inner thoughts. Lily stepped out of Kahavi's stall, the blonde horse nickering as he nudged his owner's shoulder for attention.
"What do I think about what?" Willing her frustration away, Lily crossed her arms as she threw Petra a raised eyebrow look.
"My stall. It's clean right? Oluo's complaining it's not." Petra gestured to her mare's stall, the deep brown horse munching on some feed, long since used to the pair's loud voices.
Lily stalked forward, peering into the stall as she combed it over with a sharp gaze. She frowned, a hand reaching out to the top of the stalls door, running her finger along the top and inspecting her digit.
"You missed the door." Lily stated much to Petra's horror. Glaring at the dust upon her finger, she went about whipping it off on a rag. However the vile partials had already made the blonde woman sneeze.
With a high-pitched squeak, Lily scowled deeply as she held her face into the crook of her elbow, cursing indignantly.
Petra and Oluo stared at her in absolute shock, before the pair bursted into a fit of hysterical laughter. Lily's scowl deepened as she backed away from the dusty stall. A curse fell from her lips as she glared at the pair.
"That's utterly adorable!" Petra exclaimed between her fit of laughter, her expression tearing up with the strength of her amusement.
"She squeaks! Squeaks!" Oluo had turned red in the face as he clutched his sides. "She squeaks when she sneezes!"
"I hope you fall in horse shit." Lily hissed at the pair — both of which seemed completely unaffected.
"The hell are you two cackling about? Are you trying to spook the horses?" The voice of their Captain had the pair straightening up with it seconds as their rigid salutes swiftly fell into place. Lily rolled her eyes as she held the end of her scarf to her mouth in hope to avoid another fit of sneezes.
"Captain!" Petra greeted. we were just finishing up here-"
"Tch, We'll see about that." Their Captain turned to inspect their stalls. His expression unchanging as he made his rounds quickly. Turning to the trio he scowled as he gestured to both Petra and Oluo's stalls respectively. "They're covered in dust."
"Sorry sir!" Both of them skittlered back into their stalls, swiftly dusting their stalls, much to Lily's cringe.
"You're stirring up the dust, be more gentle." Lily grumbled, her scowl fixed in place as she made an effort to hold her scarf more securely to her Captain gave her a questioning brow as he regarded the shorter woman.
"I'm allergic to dust." She murmured, her expression pinching in pain as she regarded the pair.
"So that's why you sneeze like a fairy?" Oluo questioned, snickering from his stall.
"Maria, save me." Lily muttered, her shoulders slouching in exasperation.
"Tch, when you two are done you can join Carter and I in the mess hall. We've got something to discuss." The Captain departed with not so much as a goodbye, only pausing to glance over his shoulder at the shorter woman. An almost thankful expression crossed her features as she trotted after the Captain.
Lily sat down at the special operations usual table, crossing one leg over the other as she finally dropped the end of her scarf from her face, taking a deep dust-free breath. She opened her eyes, glancing at the Captain as he brewed a pot of tea. They were silent as he placed several cups on the table before setting down the kettle in the centre. He poured two cups of black tea, nudging one towards Lily.
The blonde woman nodded her head in thanks, blowing on the cup once before taking a sip, willing her face not to scrunch up at the lack of sugar. The Captain gave the woman a strange look. "You don't have to drink it if you don't like it. Rather not waste the tea."
"I like tea, I just… I much prefer it with sugar or honey, but that's a rare commodity." Lily adominished, her hands cupping the teacup either side, enjoying the warmth that seeped into her hands. Winter was starting to really approach. She was sure snow was bound to show in a month or so — hopefully after their next expedition.
"You've had sugar in your tea before?" Lily blinked, somewhat startled as she realised while it was rare above ground, it was almost impossible underground to find either sweetener.
Shit.
"I had it once, stole some from the commandant during training, haven't been able to enjoy it normally since." She shrugged, opting to stare at her tea-cup in hopes of looking more guilty rather than blatantly lying. "I like black coffee over non-sweet tea anyway."
He was eyeing her carefully now, and for a moment, her heart thundered so hard against her chest she thought he might be able to hear the hurried organ. Petra and Oluo entered the room, coming to sit at their shared table, pouring some tea for themselves as they warmed themselves with their cups.
Lily hadn't been more thankful to be interrupted by the pair in her life. She suppressed a sigh of relief in favour of sipping her tea, letting the strong taste distracted her. The Captain leaned back as he regarded the three.
"What the hell's stopping you three from getting along? You work perfectly every other day." Captain Levi demanded, his tone irritated as he crossed his arms.
"The rookies just falling behind, maybe she needs more solo training before she can keep up with me-"
"She's perfectly capable, you just need to stop trying to show off in front of her!"
"Well maybe you need to stop mothering her like a hen, then she could learn a thing or two."
Lily groaned loudly, her hands rubbing her temple as the two bickered uselessly. Captain Levi let the two continue, as he watched the three with a sharp gaze. Lily silently prayed they'd eventually quiet down as she fixed her tired gaze upon the grains in the table, her hands toying with her cup.
"Alright, enough." The Captain silenced the pair with a raised hand, his expression pulled into a scowl. "All I hear is it's Carter who's causing the conflict."
Lily's head snapped up in alarm, her eye locking onto the silver of her Captain, her own golden pair wide as she darted her gaze to Petra, who seemed to have gone pale, opening her mouth to defend her friend.
"And what about you Carter? What's your thoughts on all this? You seem pretty content on letting them argue uselessly." The deep flat tone of Captain Levi pulled her attention forward, just as it caused her ginger friend to silence herself.
She took a moment to think things over. Was it her who caused the pair to spiral into chaos? Technically yes — every time she entered the picture the pair would constantly argue on her capabilities. Petra claimed she was capable and Oluo adamant about treating her as if she's a fresh recruit. It was as if —
"They don't trust in my abilities…" Lily muttered out loud. Blinking suddenly as she realised three sets of eyes were now on her form. She straightened up, taking a breath in to settle her anxious core. "There's a lack of trust. Oluo doesn't trust I'm able to keep up which causes Petra to stop trusting in Oluo. Effectively I'm the cause."
Silence passed over the four of them as Captain Levi inspected the trio. Oluo and Petra's lack of input spoke volumes of their agreement, intentional or not. A sigh left the dark haired man's lips as he relaxed his posture. He fixed Petra and Oluo a hard stare.
"You both know very well I hand-picked each member of this team. If I didn't think any of you were ready I would not have picked you out of every other nutcase here amongst the scouts." His tone edged on exasperation, as if reiterating that fact should never have needed to be done. "Tch, though I doubt you three will get along without learning how to trust each other. You three will be training with me personally tomorrow."
The pair besides her startled as Lily pressed her lips into a thin line. She prayed the Captain was able to find something to help build their trust for each other, else Lily feared her spot amongst her squad mates might become someone else's and she might find herself amongst the advance-recon team.
The crisp morning air greeted Lily as she parted for the training grounds. The first peeking light of dawn lighting the horizon and her tired form as she glanced around for the familiar dark haired Captain.
Her eyes found his silver ones over by the sparring grounds, free of ODM gear and merely standing in his uniform. He greeted the shorter woman with a simple nod as the two waited for the now approaching forms of Petra and Oluo — both too tired to argue so early in the morning.
"Morning Captain." Petra greeted softly between a yawn, her amber eyes squinting at the action as she covered her mouth with the back of her hand.
"Alright, since you three shitheads can't seem to work together, let's try something different." Without much more explanation, Captain Levi slipped into a fighting stance, his feet rooting him in place as he raised his arms, a wooden dagger poised in his hand.
Lily's eyes widened as she glanced at her companions. Petra had turned pale at the mere prospect as Oluo gawked in shock.
"Captain-?" Petra's voice turned shrill as she held her hands up in surrender, confusion lacing her tone as she glanced between her superior and her comrades.
"Tch," Captain Levi scoffed as an annoyed look crossed his features. "Just work together and get the dagger. It's not that hard."
Oluo sputtered, looking halfway between terrified and embarrassed. "B-but sir, we're no match for you. Besides we can't even work together-"
"By the walls you two, it's just training. Grow a pair would you?" Lily interrupted, her lack of sleep paired with the awfully early start to her morning caused her patience to be at an all time low.
The blonde woman shifted into her stance, careful to balance her core on the weight of her feet, aware her best course of action against the notorious Captain would be to keep him at a distance.
Petra and Oluo — upon noting their friends stance, decided to follow with their own, facing off with their Captain,
There stood no movement, and Lily knew eventually the Captain would pressure them into action, so she waited with bated breath. She watched his eyes dart between all three before they locked onto her form, and with her heart leaping into her throat — leaped towards her with a backwards held wooden dagger.
Lily skittered back, leaning her body away from the horizontal slash of the Captains mock-blade. His offensive attacks were relentless and with a stark realisation Lily was left hanging as her squad-mates were left gawking at the two.
As she knocked an incoming attack away from her body, she snarled with a fiery anger as she snapped. "Any help would be useful."
Petra snapped back into action upon her friend's wrath filled words. The ginger woman dashed over, her leg swinging out to kick but merely finding only air awaiting her as Captain Levi snapped deftly towards her, avoiding the blow before sending Petra sprawling with his own returning kick.
Oluo — thank the walls — finally made an attempt to apprehend their Captain from behind, only to end up with his body launched over the shorter man's back and onto the floor.
Lily reached for an arm, only to find the dark haired man seemingly anticipating the movement, swinging out his dagger. Lily managed to lean out of its range enough to avoid it, using this moment to latch onto his dagger-holding wrist. Her leg swung out moments after, hitting his side with a formidable force.
However much to Lily's own awe the man merely grunted and locked her leg to his side with his free arm. With gritted teeth Lily realized her predicament moments too late. He shoved the arm that Lily held into her chest, causing the woman to lean backwards and lose her balance.
But the blonde woman had one last trick up her sleeve as with her freehand and unique flexibility she began to pull the arm with her as she poised her body into a one armed back-bend. The Captain released her leg in order to free his other hand with it, allowing Lily to perform an awkward backspring, one of her legs kicking the Captain upside the jaw during her movement.
finally completing the backspring, Lily leveled herself into a defensive stance as she glared at her superior in concentration. The dark haired man seemed momentarily confused at the show of events, but it was gone as soon as it arrived as he surged towards her again.
Petra came in to assist, but her steps were too loud and the Captain once again spun around to meet the ginger with his own boot. Lily tried to use this opening, lashing out with a stiff kick to the back of his knee. As the Captain dropped, she turned to Oluo.
"Oluo — The Dagger-" her words were cut off as her momentary distraction caused an opening in her defenses, a fist collided with her cheek sending the woman spiralling to the floor. A second thump upon the ground told her Oluo had received similar treatment.
"Tch, Still too busy looking at others to register what's going on in front of you Carter." Captain Levi stated, referring to their first ever encounter, when she had been too busy looking at Joshua to focus on the dark haired man's quick movements. Her scarred face burned in remembrance.
Lily let out a string of curses quietly. Already pulling herself up and readying herself again to go blow-to-blow with her squad leader. Her frustration had been steadily increasing and the once-concentrated glare had turned into an angry scowl as she didn't even bother to dust herself off.
"This is useless— we can't beat him!" Oluo cried, gesturing to their still standing Captain. Petra frowned at him.
"Not with that attitude. We're supposed to be working together, not whining on the floor." The ginger retorted, her hands coming to rest on her hips.
"I'm not whining…" Oluo muttered as he pulled himself off the dusty floor and readied himself again. "I'm just stating the facts."
"It's whining, Oluo." Petra stated pointedly, her thinning gaze upon the taller man.
Their bickering might actually give me an opening. The Captain looks more interested in teaching them a lesson than watching me.
With that thought in mind, Lily made a great effort to slip behind the dark haired man as he locked onto Petra's form, surging forward to deliver a strong kick to her side, the woman yelping as she dashed out of the way. Oluo came to her side. Swinging a heavy punch towards Captain Levi's gut as the Captain merely swiveled out of it's way before retaliating.
Lily decided to do something daring — a move she had practiced with Joshua back during their time underground. She was aware she was rusty at it but it seemed the best bet at getting the dagger.
She moved quickly, using the dark haired man's shoulders to boost her up, wrapping her legs around his throat she pulled her weight behind them both, her arms bracing for the impact as she transferred his weight over her from once her hands hit the dirt. Her legs let go once his weight had been sent over her as she scrambled to land on her feet.
Landing with a crouch, her trajectory slightly off, she had to scamper over to his now rising form, attempting to grab onto a limb for a lock. His strength caused her an issue that proceeded to end in her being flung back despite her efforts. She hit the floor again on her side. Wind blowing out of her body harshly.
"See, useless! Even Lillian can't beat him." At Oluo's complaints, Lily winced, her head beginning to pound as she laid there for a few more moments. Seemingly sensing their crushed wills, the Captain scoffed, relaxing his stance to signal the fight's end.
He strode over towards Lily and offered her an extended limb. Surprised she took the limb and allowed the much stronger man to pull her up to her feet. His kind gesture however was quickly met with his irritated glare as he whirled around to face the three.
"What part of working together did you not understand? You got shit in your ears?" The two flinched at the Captain's harsh voice. Lily found the floor in which they stood upon far more interesting than her superior's face.
"Why can't we just go back to running drills with ODM gear? We were doing better then." Oluo whined, his face covered in dust and now purple bruises.
"Tch, at the rate you three are progressing at I wouldn't be surprised if someone ended up with a sword in their back. Probably Carter." Captain Levi let out a long exhale, his annoyed expression lessening somewhat. "If the two of you had stopped gawking you might've noticed the openings Carter was giving you two. Had you actually worked together rather than fighting individually you'd have a better chance."
"I'm not any good at hand-to-hand, Sir." Petra admitted lightly. Her gaze downcast as she shuffled nervously. Oluo patted the ginger woman on the shoulder comfortingly.
"Aye, Lillian's the best of us excluding you. Never seen anyone do those… flippy-actions like her though. Where'd you learn to do that?" Oluo questioned, his face twisting in thought.
"Trial and error." Lily offered, finding the answer not exactly a lie. It did take a lot of trial and error to learn, practice makes perfect as they say. However the suspicious glance her dark haired superior sent her caused a shiver to crawl up her spine.
With a scoff, the Captain waved the three off with the orders to return to regular duties. The four of them would continue these morning training sessions until the three of them could successfully unarm their superior.
Lily found her body had only ever ached so bad one other time; after her not-so-pleasant encounter with a Tyrrentic addict, with Will and Cassidy.
A hot bubble bath would be a god-send.
The rest of Lily's morning consisted of joining her family for breakfast, opting to avoid her squad table, finding herself particularly prickly at her two friends from their earlier training.
"I'm going to take it by the blossoming bruise on your jaw and the bags under your eyes, you've been having an awfully fun time lately." Timothy mused, following his greeting with a mouthful of porridge.
"Good morning to you too, shit-stain." Lily scowled, settling herself down opposite her two brothers, begrudgingly eating her porridge quietly.
"That bad?" Joshua questioned, a wince in his expression upon Lily's formidable glare.
"It's that bad," with a flat, blunt tone Lily averted her gaze back to her breakfast as she continued. "Petra, Oluo and I still can't seem to work together. The Captain's got us in three-v-one against him. We just need to disarm a damn wooden dagger."
"You'd think that'd be easier for the best of the best." Timothy pointed out, using his spoon to exaggerate his point.
"You'd think." Lily sighed, her free hand rubbing circles on her temple. "In the end it's mostly me on my own against the Captain, the other two aren't much help."
Joshua's face twisted into a darker look as he threw a glare towards her Captain. "I don't see the point in beating the crap out of you constantly. What? Not enough he scars your face? Gotta add some bruises to it too?"
"Josh, this is training not some brawlers club in the underground. It's an attempt to get us to work together, I just Happen to be too much of a threat not to be constantly under pressure." With a stern look, she frowned at her elder brother and dear friend. "I think you've got the wrong read on the Captain."
Joshua had opened his mouth to retort when the sing-song voice of the Section-Commander interrupted their conversation.
"Timmy~!" The brown haired scientist skipped to their shared table, settling themselves next to the blonde man with a beaming smile. They turned to Timothy with a confused glance as they gestured to the rest of the table broadly. "Not going to introduce me to your little family? I've been dying to meet them!"
"Section-Commander!" The scientist second-in-command -Moblit- called after them, an exasperated expression fixed on his face as he sat opposite them. "We shouldn't spend too much time here, you still have reports to fill."
Section-Commander Hange merely waved off their assistant, too eager to meet the growingly infamous underground trio. Timothy sighed, half in amusement and half in shared exasperation.
"Josh, Lily, meet Section-Commander Hange. Section-Commander Hange, meet Josh and Lily."
"It's lovely to finally meet you two! Timmy here has told me so much about you two, tell me! What was it like being outside the walls at night? We're the titans still as active as during the day? Did they pay you much mind? Did any of them seem particularly active despite the night-time?"
"Hange." Timothy deadpanned, his expression flat as he grumbled at his superior. The section-commander flashed an apologetic smile before they turned their attention to Lily.
"Although, I am curious to know more about you specifically."
Lily flashed the scientist a weary glance. "What do you want to know?"
"What's your opinion on titan research?"
Startled slightly, Lily took a moment to gather her thoughts. She definitely agreed that what they knew about titans was glaringly lacking. There were so many minuet things that changed between titan to titan that despite three years of training, many still found their death at those shambling creatures. Although many of those deaths were from cadets freezing in fear.
With a long inhale Lily relented. "If you asked me to take on an opponent blindfolded and told vaguely where they are, I'd call you insane. Ironically, that's exactly what I'm doing now — we only know the nape kills a titan, outside of that I can't say there's much else we know. I believe titan research is crucial."
The high-pitch glee filled screech from the Section-Commander garnered the attention of the others within the mess hall. Even her Captain wandered over with an annoyed expression.
"What are you squealing about now, Hange?" The dark haired man questioned with a blunt tone.
Hange had left their spot to move over to Lily, gripping the short woman by her shoulders as she shook the woman with her own excitement. "Do you know how long I've been waiting for someone to say that!"
Lily shrunk back from the overwhelming scientist. Her face pulled into a grimace as she still awkwardly sat at the table, twisting her torso towards the Section-Commander in order to not feel too uncomfortable.
"Ah, why did I have to get Timmy? Oi, Levi, can we trade siblings?" Hange turned to the Captain, unperturbed by his scowl.
"Would you put my damn medic down?" The Captain pried the overly enthusiastic brunette's hands from her upper arms, Lily flashing her superior a thankful smile as she rubbed her arms lightly. "Piss off shitty-glasses, you're not getting her."
Hange visibly pouted as they turned to Levi, crossing their arms exaggeratedly before they whirled back around towards Lily. "You'll at least come visit my office at some point? I'll show you everything I've managed to find out about titans and spit-ball ideas about a potential titan capturing expedition!"
Finding herself both slightly Intimidated and amused by the extroverted woman, Lily found herself unable to say no to the idea of potentially working out more about how titans tick. Sighing, the shorter woman shook her head. "I can't believe I'm agreeing to this…"
"So it's a yes?" Hange beamed, their excitement radiating off them.
With a roll of her eyes, Lily nodded. "Yes. It's a yes, Section-Commander."
"Oh just call me Hange, we'll be great friends from now on!" The section-commander announced. They continued to bombard the trio with an array of questions until poor Lieutenant Moblit retrieved the estranged Officer.
Timothy turned to Lily, a bemused expression on his face as their officers left for their duties. "You've stepped in it now, Lil."

I'd just like to state that as of now I'll be extending my upload schedule every two weeks to help cope with my mental health as well as not burn myself out.
I may in the future revert back to a weekly upload once I've managed to create a backlog of chapters — not to say I don't have any but I do need a bit more time to thoroughly plan myself out so I can produce the best quality I can.
I hope you all don't mind the extended wait but I promise you it's for the best. As a newbie writer I still want to enjoy this and put my passions into it without making it a chore.
Thank you all for your patience.
And of course, there is art you may find in deviant of this chapter, a link is in my bio.
