A/N: A more classic Fantasy take on the Narutoverse.

The Infinite Tsukuyomi succeeded. The Narutoverse is plunged in an imaginary world. Except Alduin has also messed with Skyrim's universe. When both clash in the multiverse, a new world appears. A world of magic, wars, mystical things and a fused skill system between the two universes for a much more grounded magic and skill system. Since Alduin is a being of Chaos, his influence has erased the positive effects of the Infinite Tsukuyomi and the tragic events leading to the beginning of Naruto didn't get erased like they should to make everyone happy.

Fuuinjutsu and Jinchuuriki are counted as Conjuration because it summons or unsummons creatures or items and Bijuu manifestations from Jinchuuriki will work like Final Fantasy summons, they're nukes or powerful support abilities rather than stat increases to the user or possession. Bijuu will be a bit like Monster Hunter wyverns while keeping their original animal theme, much like the beast style wyverns that don't really look like dragons but some have a few dragon traits.

Characters will be assigned to guilds that fit their theme. Doujutsu abilities nerfed to fit Skyrim powers.

Original deities for more customized religions.

Geography based on Naruto but with more stuff outside villages.

Clans are not exclusively blood related. One can join a clan if they happen to learn the ability of this clan or if they're naturally talented with it. Adoption into clans is normalized. No real bloodline-based ability.

Original character non-binary MC (non-binary means someone who doesn't identify themselves as a male of female person, just a person, it has nothing to do with sexual orientation or with Naruto's binary brains that only know about eating and fighting/training).

I'll use theatrical dialogue because it's easier to follow who is talking and to make comments on the tone, the actions and reactions during the dialogue etc.

Chapter 1

I, Astra, was a young Empire national born in the city of Konoha. I often my head in the clouds, which was the reason for my name. I had graduated from the military academy at fifteen, like most people, and had decided to become an adventurer rather than a soldier because the military wasn't my cup of tea.

There were others like me who didn't fit in the narrow-minded soldier career. Sasuke of the Uchiha clan, whose brother had killed his entire family and used an illusion spell to replay the genocide in front of his eyes multiple times in a row when he was still a kid. This had made him crave for revenge and he needed the freedom of the adventurer career to attain his goal.

Naruto Uzumaki was another lost soul. He didn't know about his parents, Konoha hated him for something only the adults knew about and he had survived on small thefts and the orphans' fund for all of his life. The only people nice to him were the father and daughter who were running a grilled meat restaurant in a small street of the outer districts and the Jarl Hiruzen, who had been like a distant grandfather figure to him. He wasn't dedicated to Konoha, so he had no reason to enlist in the military to defend the ones who had been treating him like a pariah without even telling him the reason.

I went to the Adventurers Guild to enlist and go on quests. The hall was currently deserted, a lot of adventurers had been recruited by the military as mercenaries to fight the Kumo nationalist army in a drawn out war, with Iwa sending military equipment to Kumo by boat.

I walked to the counter and talked to the receptionist.

Me: "Hello, I'd like to register as a new adventurer."

Receptionist, relieved to see a newcomer: "Welcome to the Adventurers Guild! We are in great need for new members, with the war draining our manpower! What skill categories are you going to use?"

Me: "I'll be a secondary tank with a bit of destruction, illusion, alteration, restoration, conjuration, block and heavy armor. I will be mostly a combat-oriented all-rounder. I have no specialty for the moment."

Receptionist, happy to find someone easy to fit in any party: "That's a good thing! You will be easy to put in any adventuring party! We have received another enlistment a little earlier, another graduate like you. He is more of a mage and assassin. You will be put together. We will be waiting for a third member to join your rookie team before letting you take any quests."

Me: "Okay, that's reasonable. The more people the merrier."

The doors of the guild hall were slammed open, a familiar blond boy wearing orange medieval male robes.

Naruto: "Hi! I'm Naruto Uzumaki and I'll become a legendary adventurer so that everyone has to acknowledge me!"

He came to the counter and I let him some space.

Me: "Hi Naruto. I knew you would come here."

Receptionist: "Welcome to the Adventurers Guild! You come right on time! We were in need of a third rookie for a new party. What skill categories are you able to use?"

Naruto: "Hi Astra! Of course, that's the best place to go to become well-known! Thanks mister receptionist! I can do some alteration, lockpicking, pickpocketting, sneak and I'll be a melee fighter and a prankster bringing nightmares to my enemies!"

Receptionist, a smile on his face: "So we have a decently rounded party! I am going to call your third member!"

Me, as the receptionist stood up and went up the stairs to look for our missing member: "You won't like it. We're matched with Sasuke."

Naruto: "That proud asshole? Crap! Can't I be lucky once in a while?"

Sasuke, walking down the stairs: "I heard you, dead last. Did you really graduate? You were so bad in academics…"

Naruto: "Yeah, I'm awesome at transformation and booby traps! And no one can catch me after a good prank! Also I'm outlasting everyone in a fight!"

Me: "Hi Sasuke. We'll have to cope with each other anyway, might as well do our best. Let's look at the quest board."

Sasuke, a scroll in his hand: "I've already found one while I was waiting for other party members. I'd have gone on my own but it's forbidden for rookies to go on quests alone."

Me: "What's the quest? Would be nice if you asked us before choosing, not everyone can do every quest."

Naruto: "Yeah you're too selfish, asshole!"

Sasuke: "Shut up, idiot! The quest I took is a delivery mission. We'll have to prove ourselves worthy before doing any interesting stuff. Fetch quests and all that crap. With the lack of adventurers, there's a high demand for easy stuff like equipment deliveries, merchant protection, mail deliveries…"

Naruto: "Crap! I hate fetch quests!"

Me: "Let's get it done quickly. We're starting with nothing, we'll need money to buy equipment and pay for training. I don't want to start dangerous quests in civilian clothes, I value my life more than that."

Sasuke: "At least I've got a teammate with brains. Let's go."

Naruto mumbled curses but he followed us. We got to the nearest village to deliver the mail and got back before noon.

Naruto: "I'm hungry, let's get the reward and eat some grilled meat!"

Me: "Naruto, I'm vegetarian, for the environment and because I wouldn't like to kill and prepare an animal to eat it so I shouldn't eat any meat, just the idea of the suffering it would go through makes me uneasy. I don't care about people, but animals are precious beings."

Naruto: "Bah, you vegan weirdo take some grilled vegetables, that's all!"

Me: "Grilled vegetables are disgusting. They're better cooked in a frying pan with oil. And I also eat eggs and cheese, just not meat or fish. And to top it off, vegetables and cereals cost less than meat or fish, so it's a good way to save money for equipment that will save my life."

Naruto: "Okay, you're right on this point. Meat and fish cost too much! Let's start a strike to lower their prices!"

Sasuke: "Don't you ever stop saying dumb things? As they said, eggs, vegetables and cereals are much better to save money. We're gonna eat something that doesn't take all of our first money reward. A bo bun will do."

Me: "You're a man of taste, Sasuke. This is something we can agree on."

Naruto: "Then I'll go eat alone with my part of the reward. I don't want to eat your veggie meal! Screw equipment, I can soak hits with my head!"

Sasuke: "I think I've just found the secret to your stupidity. Since you couldn't have been cradle too close from a wall, it just means you're used to block blows with your head."

Me: "Let's get this reward quickly, I'm hungry too. No need to escalate the situation. Although you stole my line here, I wanted to tell that joke…"

Naruto: "Right, you ally against me, then I'll be on my own."

After retrieving our reward, I let him calm down at his grilled meat restaurant while I ate with Sasuke. Neither of us were slow eaters so we ate in ten minutes in silence and went to the guild hall to take our next quest. Naruto came back when we got out of the building.

Me: "This time we have to retrieve an order of equipment and bring it to the convoy that's leaving in two hours. The meeting point is ten kilometers away from here, so let's not waste time."

Naruto: "No problem, let me carry it! I have infinite stamina!"

Sasuke: "It's a great exercise, we will also carry some of it. There's enough for everyone on this order."

We retrieved the three chainmails, two half helms and the three shields from the blacksmith who had just repaired the metal parts of the shields and the armors and went to our destination at a decent pace. It was not that easy with all the weight we were carrying.

Back to the guild hall, we crashed nonchalantly on the lounge sofas, Sasuke and I exhausted after walking all day long and Naruto just because it was comfortable. We had barely earned anything worth mentioning and if the receptionist hadn't told us that we could stay in a room for free as long as we cleaned in the morning, we would have worked for nothing as the night at an inn would've cost us the whole remains of our rewards after dinner.

.

The second day, we made small deliveries inside Konoha. I took some veggie food and went to eat with Naruto so he wouldn't feel too lonely.

We did these fetch quests for a whole month, taking only the weekends off, before getting an interesting mission. We had save enough money to buy some cheap starting equipment. I bought us three gambesons because none of them would have the brains to buy a cloth armor before getting enough money to upgrade it. Naruto bought a worn out maul and Sasuke a dagger because swords were too pricey. Especially with the war going on, battle equipment was scarce.

We left the Adventurers Guild to hunt a deserter. He had last been seen near the place where we had delivered equipment on our first day. We started there, questioning the people and following his tracks in the woods. We found him and he posed no threat as he was a simple civilian who had been forced to join the army. We knocked him out quickly and retrieved his lumberjack axe and wooden shield. A poor bonus, but still better than nothing.

After that, we chased other deserters, a few thieves and we hunted a wolf. I let Naruto do the dirty work and carry it back to the Guild. A member of the guild who wasn't a fighter taught the blond how to skin it and clean the fur to make clothes out of it.

After another month of fetch quests and hunts, we had enough money to buy a worn out chainmail for Naruto so he wouldn't die before his special healing could fix him during a fight to the death. I bought a minor healing spell for myself as well as Sasuke didn't have Naruto's natural healing.

The receptionist started to give us bandit hunting quests, in which we managed to grab some rusty equipment and a few coins. We turned the equipment to the smith, who thanked us by selling Sasuke a decent short sword at half price.

The rewards for bandit hunts were better than those of our previous quests, but there wasn't a constant supply of these even though the war was a good climate to breed brigands.

A month later, we managed to buy me a worn out mail too and we got a new quest, asking us to retrieve a stone tablet in an ancient tomb for the court wizard Danzou.

This quest was harder than expected. We faced undead warriors that didn't feel pain and only stopped moving when they were destroyed or dismembered. Sasuke's Ember spell proved very useful in destroying them, but it was draining for him. My own Rock Throw was also useful to break their arms or their balance when they blocked with a shield. Naruto's worn out maul still did a good part of the job though as it didn't cost any chakra.

The last room was a big tomb with an old coffin on a stage lightened by an opening in the ceiling. The boss was an undead wearing a helm and using a shield and a frost enchanted rusted sword. It was able to disarm us with its shout, so we fought it carefully, allowing Naruto to smash its helm away before crushing its skull. Sasuke used one last Ember to consume it and ensure it wouldn't get back up.

Sasuke: "This sword is unusable, but the enchantment could be extracted and put on my own."

Naruto: "So we can enchant weapons with rune words? That's cool! I want to learn how to do that!"

Me: "Then you'll have to ask the client or another mage more specialized in enchanting. But having enchanted weapons would be great. If we could make enchants, we would get enough money to buy proper equipment. This worn out stuff is becoming less and less effective."

We took the tablet in the chest and I walked to the wall with inscriptions. I was beautiful. Naruto came to look at the sculpted wall and a few rune words lightened. A powerful mystical force enveloped him and his eyes also lightened up.

Me: "Naruto? What happened? Are you okay?"

Naruto: "Yeah, I feel…great! It's like I've unlocked some part of my memory that was sealed away!"

Sasuke, a bit annoyed that Naruto was the one to get something: "We've found the tablet, let's leave this creepy place. I don't wanna sleep in here."

Me: "Me neither. I'd rather get a hot bath after smelling this foul place for the whole day. It smells like it had not been opened for hundreds if not thousands of years. Let's get some fresh air."

We left the tomb and got back to Konoha around midnight, directly going to the Adventurers Guild to take a bath. Then we went to sleep hungry because there was nothing to eat at this hour.

The next morning, we got our reward and Naruto went to see Danzou to ask about enchanting. He came back with a manuscript about the basics of enchanting. He read it passionately, which was a rare occurrence. It was like he had found what he was good at.

Naruto: "We'll need a lot of enchanting scrolls to gain money out of enchantments, but it can be worth it! If I can make a good enchant for Sasuke's sword, he will be well equipped. The book says that an ice enchantment can go as far as to send ice shards while swinging a bladed weapon!"

Sasuke: "Is that so? Maybe you just learnt these new things to make me more powerful after all. You're becoming more useful at least. Maybe I'll keep you around for a while."

Naruto, annoyed: "It's not like you have a choice anyway, there's no one else to team up with. Otherwise I would've ditched you already! You're so annoying with your haughty attitude!"

Sasuke: "Damn, did you just read that word in a dictionary? I didn't know you knew some big words."

Me, tired of their bickering: "Shut up you two…Naruto is getting more useful abilities for the party and that's great. And he's even reading, which is unbelievable. Maybe he'll learn useful spells as well if he continues like this. Now let's get something to fill our bellies, knowledge doesn't cut hunger or I'd be as round as an Akimichi and win against Chouji in a sumo fight. Which would make it harder for me to find a girlfriend who fits my taste…not like I ever had one anyway…"

Naruto exploited his newfound talent for the next two weeks, being given enchanting scrolls by Danzou to enchant the blades going to the army. He perfected his frost enchantment and then bought a magical stone, sneaked in Sasuke's room, borrowed his sword, went at an enchanting table and put the sword on the scroll on top of the table. A freezing wind gathered towards the blade and Naruto exclaimed in amazement.

When he came back, Sasuke was furious at the absence of his sword. The blond boy pulled the weapon from his back with a grin. The blade looked like it was made of snow.

Naruto: "I think I went a little overboard with the enchantment…hehe…"

Sasuke, his eyes shining with stars: "That's…that's not even an enchantment…it's like you've made an elemental sword out of a scroll and a dented blade… That's crazy…"

And with this, Naruto and Sasuke gained a name as the Magical Enchanter and the Chilling Swordsman.
