Ch. 1 A Deal with the Devil

Vale city was known for its bright vibrant lights and calm atmosphere, but those that stray too far from the bustling city find themselves in more run down lots. So was the case for one young man. Trodding down the sidewalk one could see a slip of paper in his hands. Faint sniffling came from him, at that moment he balled his fist causing the paper to ball up, throwing it against a wall he yelled out in frustration.

Leaning against the wall he slid down and sat himself down onto the cold concrete. He cried into his arms. Picking up the balled up paper he read it again, hoping that what he saw was simply a dream, a hoax. Instead he was wrong. Although there was a lot written on it there were certain key words and phrases that told the full story.

Jaune Arc….Not...Accepted...Signed...Beacon Academy

CRumpling up the ball once more he threw it to the other side of the road and into a dark alley. Jaune gritted his teeth and balled up his fist once more. He didn't know how to feel. Enraged, shocked, saddened? It was a mystery to him. Well all but one emotion, failure.

After a few minutes Jaune looked around, sighing as he lifted his head and wiped his cheeks. Now what, did he head back home and to his parents? What would they say? Would they yell at him for running with his family's sword? Would they welcome him with open arms?

Jaune simply stared at the ground, he didn't know what to do. Actually that was a lie, he did know that he needed to find a place to crash for the night. Standing up he walked a few steps before he stopped. Turning around, his eyes widened. Clutching his stomach he saw something in it.

There was a sudden shock of pain coming from his ribs, looking up he saw a scruffy looking man grinning. He said something but to Jaune it was inaudible. He saw the man kneel down and grab his sword, he examined it and smiled. With that he gave Jaune another kick and walked away.

Once more Jaune felt his tears begin to leak, this time not from sadness but from pain. He stared at his chest and saw a wooden stick jutting out from it, he didn't dare remove the blade in the event it caused him to bleed out more. Jaune tried to call for help but all that came out were hoarse whispers.

'Please, somebody. Anybody...help..me..'

Jaune passed out on the ground, his blood pooled underneath him. No one was around, no one knew what had happened or that someone had died. It was depressing really, Jaune Arc feared he would grow up as a nobody and ultimately died a nobody.

So one might think.

Darkness was all he saw at first that was until he decided to open his eyes. Blinking for a bit he picked himself up and saw...nothing. Turning his head around he tried to find something but couldn't. Instead all he saw was a white environment, the sky was grey but had no clouds, sun or moon.

"W-where? Where am I?"

He heard laughing behind him "Isn't that the question"

Turning around he saw a tall figure behind him, he wore mainly orange, his boots were golden and the tips curved up, his belt had a green heart on it but what really made him stare was his face. It was sharp with an air of intelligence, his golden hair pointed upwards and his golden eyes felt like they pierced his soul.

"Surprised?" the man asked

He simply nodded. The man smirked and turned around. As he walked away the man turned around. "If you wish for some answers, it would be best to follow"

"O-oh, ok" walking after him he was able to catch up with the man. The two walked side by side with each other for a while. The silence was... awkward to say the lea-

"What's your name?" the man asked

"O-oh, Jaune. -jaune Arc"

"Do try to lose the stutter"

Jaune gulped audibly "right, sorry. Um, what's your name?"

"Hmm?"

"What's your nam-"

"I heard you the first time"

"Oh"

The two continued to walk on together for a bit. Jaune didn't really know what to say, first he was on a street, then he was…

"Did I die?" Jaune said out loud

"No, well not yet anyways"

"Huh?"

The man faced Jaune "Currently your life is in limbo, between life and death"

Jaune looked at the man, he didn't need to look up since he was close to his height, only shorter by a bit. "H-how-"

"I can offer you a deal. One that allows you to live"

Jaunes' eyes widened"Really?"

"Yes, but I require something of you"

"What" Jaune asked, desperation in his voice

The man smiled and stopped walking "Time"

Jaune raised his brow, confused "um"

"If you accept my offer you get to live but gain something as well. My gift will be uncontrollable to you at first, but I can teach you how to use it. That however can only be achieved if you cooperate with me"

Jaune didn't care to think about the risks, his mouth moved without thinking "I accept"

The man's grin grew "Excellent" with that he turned and walked away. Jaune could see his figure begin to fade away, then something came to him.

"What's your name?" he asked

The man turned as his torso began to disappear, he smirked "DIO"

Jaunes body laid on the sidewalk, it was there unmoving. The faint sound of footsteps could be heard. Cracking one of his eyes open, Jaune saw a figure approach him. He couldn't make out much of him other than he was rather thin. The man kneeled down and moved his face up. Jaune tried to open his eyes more and say something but the man spoke to him.

"Calm now, we don't wish for you to hurt yourself anymore. You can rest now, you're safe"

"W-who?" he tried to ask but was unable to speak anymore as once more his vision went dark. There was some solace to his predicament however, he was alive. Whoever DIO was, he had saved Jaunes life. He felt someone lift him and with that he felt safe and dozed into a deep sleep.

That concludes the first chapter to this new story. So it looks like Jaune made a deal with the devil, however may that go. Hopeful you guys enjoyed it and I can't wait to write more.

also, Yes I know the chapter is a bit short but if I were to write more I'd be bordering into chapter 2 stuff.
