Chapter Six

Joyata had set up camp near the Great Plateau. It had been hours since he began his journey away from the Yiga Hideout in search for the hero Link. Without the other Yiga noticing, he'd packed a sleeping bag along with plenty of wood just in case he had to camp out.

Since night had fallen, the now former Yiga had decided to camp and get some sleep until daylight cracked. But his rest didn't last long. When the Blood Moon rose, Joyata was awakened by the sound of what sounded like monstrous howling.

No sooner than he'd woken up, Joyata spotted the terrifying red moon in the sky and his heart pounded intensely. "Oh shit!" The ex-Yiga exclaimed, "I gotta move!" He got out of bed, rolled up his sleeping bag and immediately started packing camp.

Once he'd packed his bags, Joyata began searching for a spot to hide from the Blood Moon. He spotted the Waku-Jata Shrine nearby and made a mad dash inside the Sheikah Shrine, thinking it was safe enough to hide in.

Upon the Dueling Peaks, Ghirahim had assumed a ferocious form while his master Demise lost his ghostly see-through form and was resurrected in the flesh at last. Midnight was ticking closer as the seconds passed. Five... Four... Three... Two... ONE!

At 12:00, the Blood Moon emerged from behind the clouds with a roar as a voice spoke in the minds of millions, trying to warn them of what was coming very soon...

After falling asleep as the Blood Moon was rising, Link didn't expect to find himself in the most awkward-looking place in the universe. But here he was, standing in front of two massive golden gates on a group of large clouds in the night sky.

Initially, the hero was wondering what the heck had happened. Did a monster sneak in and stab him through the heart? Technically, no. Link knew that his existence wasn't over yet. This was some kind of spooky dream-like vision, somebody wanted to talk to him.

Knowing that he was nervous, Link told himself to relax and just breathe just as the gates started to open. "Are you the one known as Link?" An unknown voice asked, "You may enter through the gates. Someone wishes to speak with you, welcome to the overworld."

Link nodded and thanked the mystery voice before walking forward. The clouds he stood upon seemed to stretch for miles as far as the eye could see, forming some kind of white and puffy terrain.

Right behind him, the gate vanished and a black cloud appeared in its place. Mist came down and the area became foggy. Nobody else appeared and Link felt alone on his journey. While he felt warm on the surface down below, the brave hero felt chilly up here.

Thankfully it wasn't due to a nearby Blood Moon. Link assumed that the Blood Moon's power had diminished by now and the moon was back to normal. As he continued walking along the cloudy path, ghostly beings began to appear around him.

He could see the spirits of Ravali and Mipha, Daruk, Urbosa and King Rhoam among the ghosts. So many faces were appearing briefly to welcome Link or see him on his way. The hero could smell a meal cooking far away, someone was probably having a barbecue.

Link even heard distant voices speaking amongst themselves, talking in an ancient dialect that nobody had spoken with in years. While English was Hyrule's current language, there had been many other spoken languages like Japanese.

Beneath the intrepid Hylian, the soft and puffy layer of cloudy ground started changing as he journeyed further across the Overworld. At this point, Link could feel a puddle of water beneath his shoes and he could see trees and grass, sunflowers and a large building ahead.

"Link!" A voice beckoned, "Come to me. Follow my voice." The voice sounded different from before and Link figured that it was probably not the exact same entity who'd called out to him earlier, he just shrugged with little concern.

Crunch-crunch-crunch. Pat-pat-pat. Link walked across over the small line between the watery clouds and the grassy plain. His feet crushed a few sunflowers and kicked up dust and dirt as he walked along.

The sky finally shifted, changing from a starry night sky to a cloudy day. The sun was rising as well. As Link got closer towards the large building, he saw that it looked familiar. Heck, the building might as well look like the Temple of Time located on the Great Plateau...

And standing on the steps of the building was an almost familiar-looking man with a youthful appearance and a halo over his head, blonde hair, Hylian ears and blue eyes. Plus, he seemed to be wearing a green tunic similar to the old Hero's Tunic.

The "Ghost Hero" held out his hand, beckoning for Link to approach. "Step forward, Hero of the Wild!" He said, his voice calm. Already obliging his precursor's wish, Link walked up the temple steps until he was at arm's length from his ghostly double.

"Who are you?" The hero asked.

"I am one of your past incarnations, Link." Skyloft Link replied, "Hylia's Chosen Hero."

"What the...? Is this a dream?" Current Link was shocked.

"This is a vision, which feels like a dream. But make no mistake, I am you."

"What are you here for, ancestor?"

"To warn you of what is happening, my descendant. We underestimated Demise and he has returned. We thought we were rid of him, even though he reincarnated as Ganon. But apparently, a piece of Demise's spirit lingered for all these years..."

"And now he's back." Link shivered, "Is he about to attack Hyrule?"

"First, he will gather his forces and more of his strength. Then he will attack Hyrule. You and Zelda must prepare, you must stop Demise. If you fail, the world will be shrouded in darkness forever as the Demon King will reign unopposed."

"Thanks for the warning, past me. I will prepare."

"Hold on, Link! I haven't given you a word of advice yet. Do not underestimate Demise, he is very powerful. When you are in need, it is good to fall back and often rely on your friends. You will have allies in the coming fight and one of them will be an unexpected hero..."

When Zelda found herself in the Overworld, she was confused at first. But unlike Link, she did not stand in front of a huge gate. Instead, she stood near a crystal-clear lake in a grassy field. "We meet again, noble princess." Said a voice.

The ghost of Skyloft Zelda appeared, standing before Zelda. She was wearing a blue sleeveless dress and surrounded by a glowing green-colored aura. The princess' distant ancestor had not changed much as her golden hair was still flowing down her shoulders.

"Hullo again, past Zelda." The current Zelda remarked as she waved happily. The princess stepped forward and hugged her ancestor, not even bothered by what was happening unlike last time. After all, Skyloft Zelda had said they would talk again soon.

"I told you we'd talk again soon." The ghost said, "Now it's time to talk again and it couldn't have come at the most uncertain time imaginable. The Demon King Demise has returned from the grave at last and his servant Ghirahim has returned as well."

"Looks like it's the end of the world." Current Zelda commented with a look of horror on her face. She could not believe that creepy-looking white haired Demon Lord had also returned. After all, Ghirahim was said to be quite the nightmare to deal with.

"You can still stop them." Skyloft Zelda told her descendant with assurance in her voice, "They are not fully invincible and I wouldn't worry about the Blood Moon ruining your victory if you beat them."

Before Current Zelda could say something, the whole area around her and Skyloft Zelda seemed to blur out of existence and a wolf-like howling wind blew forth. "It would seem our time is up." Skyloft Zelda said, "Farewell, brave one."

Everything faded to white and Zelda awoke in bed, gasping as though she'd just woken up from a bad dream. Then she remembered that Link was with her. Sunlight poured in through the window, morning had come.

Link and Zelda looked at each other with relieved smiles on their faces. Then the hero placed his hands upon the sides of Zelda's gorgeous face before both Hylians kissed each other happily, eager to start their day and prepare for the battles to come…
