Chapter Eight
Upon Lynel Peak in the mountains of Western Hyrule, King Vishous reigned over the Lynels as their undefeated Golden Lynel King. In the weeks after receiving word that Ganon had been defeated, Vishous didn't care about the news as long as his reign continued.
However, a month after learning that Ganon was defeated, Vishous was informed that Hylian forces were rebuilding a small settlement near his domain. Afterwards, Vishous sent out two of his lackeys to disrupt the work.
While Vishous hoped that both Lynels' efforts were successful, he was enraged when Murdurous and Savvajj, his two lackeys, returned with a report that they failed. In a fit of pure rage, Vishous exiled Murdurous from the Lynel tribe and burned Savvajj's arms.
Shortly afterwards, when the Blood Moon rose the following night, Vishous had a vision of a dark warlord coming to lead the Lynels and was shocked to see the Blood Moon's power revive many of his useless past lackeys right in front of him.
Regardless, he didn't care about their revival or their ever-present stupidity. If Vishous cared about anything, he only cared about remaining in power while outliving all of his enemies. Nobody had ever beaten him in combat during his lifetime and Vishous hoped to defeat the one called Link sometime in the future.
'Just where is that blasted dark messenger?' Vishous thought with a furious growl, 'I'd just wish he would...' He angrily slammed his fist on the side of his throne and shouted, "HURRY UP!" The Lynel King's yell was so loud; it caused the entire area to shake.
"Boss, what's the problem?" A voice asked.
Hearing the voice of his idiotic lackey Savvajj irritated Vishous. He almost despised him so much, he could not bear to look upon the useless Lynel. Regardless, he looked down to see Savvajj near his throne.
"And what do you want, Savvajj?" Vishous growled impatiently.
Seeing his hateful master's face contorted with great anger, Savvajj cowered in fear, but he mustered up his strength to speak while holding a meat stick. "I-I was taking my lunch break," Savvajj said, "And I h-h-heard you snap, s-s-so I was c-c-concerned."
"I'll have you know right now since you asked," Vishous snarled, "Someone isn't coming. And before you think that its other Lynels... A DARK MESSENGER IS SUPPOSED TO BE COMING HERE, ACCORDING TO THE BLOOD MOON! DID YOU SEE IT, YOU IDIOT?!"
Savvajj was about to say something when a loud finger snap cracked through the air, followed by a poof as a white-haired man in a cloak appeared out of nowhere. "Ah!" The Lynel King exclaimed, "The Dark Messenger is come, what took thou so longeth?"
Ghirahim chuckled, "Pardon me, King Vishous, I had to get something to eat and drink. Now I am here on behalf of my master to recruit the Lynels into Demise's new army that will destroy Hyrule. Are you interested?"
Vishous thought about the offer. He knew that this was the perfect opportunity to make the people of Hyrule pay for defeating Ganon. After much consideration, he smiled and shook Ghirahim's hand as lightning exploded above. "We accept your offer." Vishous said.
Within the next couple hours after talking with their new friend, Joyata Yutowa, and contacting their allies, Link and Zelda met up with their friends and a large group of Hylian Soldiers at the ranch in Central Hyrule known as Lon-Lon Outpost for a meeting.
In the middle of the same area where the Hero of Time had first met his trusty horse Epona all those generations ago, a table had been set up and a large group of people had gathered around to listen as Link and the princess discussed recent events.
Joyata sat next to a Hylian general, quietly listening like the others. As far as everyone was concerned, calling this meeting was a good idea since dark times were looming again. "Are you all here?" Zelda asked; She was the one running the meeting, "Let's start then..."
While the princess and everybody else wasn't noticing, a present Zora Midna once again attempted to seduce Link only for her plans to backfire when he noticed the shapely Zora female and pushed her away.
Taking this as a minor setback, Zora Midna blew a playful kiss at the Hylian hero and ran off while Zelda continued talking; "…As you know, despite our victory over Ganon, his followers stayed behind to cause trouble.
"But now, things are starting to get worse again. The Demon King Demise has returned and something more dreadful than the Great Calamity is looming. We might not be lucky this time, but we have each other and have seen worse."
Almost everyone at the meeting began whispering amongst themselves nervously, asking how they were going to defeat a massive army led by a terrifying demonic humanoid with fiery hair and menacing red eyes.
"Doomsday is upon us and this could be our greatest challenge yet." Zelda continued, "Maybe it's our final test. Either we stand strong or the apocalypse consumes us all, it's time to stand together again and hope we prevail just like before."
Link rose to his feet and drew the Master Sword. "I agree with Zelda." He said with determination, "This is our fight, so let us make sure our differences do not divide us. It's time to fight back, let us defend ourselves and FIGHT FOR FREEDOM!"
After gathering enough allies for his army, Demise was ready to attack Hyrule. But before he did so, Demise needed a few staging areas from where the invasion could begin. The first area he chose was Galogut Island off the coast of Akkala's shores.
Initially, Galogut was a small island. But thanks to Demise's dark magic, it had become big enough to gather an entire army of monsters there. As for the next area, Ghirahim suggested that they use the sky and Demise seemed to like the idea very much.
In fact, as soon as his servant had suggested it, the Demon King conjured up a huge series of large black clouds in the sky and made sure they were solid enough for half of his forces to stand on and use as launch pads for attacking Hyrule.
Demise knew that Ghirahim would be the second-in-command for the attack, especially since the Demon Lord had served him well. Once Hyrule was conquered and all was said and done, Ghirahim would rule everything by his master's side.
Galogut Island had a dark and barren ground with seemingly harmless patches of fiery grass. As for any other "floral island life", dark trees stood upon the black beach, covered in leaves and spooky black spikes.
Once the invasion had been planned out, Demise took the front of the crowd so he could begin addressing the troops. "Warriors of Darkness!" The Demon King spoke menacingly, "The time has come to obliterate all who stand in our way and rise to greatness.
"Let us go forth, my servants. The coming battles are upon us and today marks the beginning of a new era. For glory! For conquest! FOR THE FALL OF HYRULE ITSELF!"
"FOR GLORY! FOR CONQUEST! FOR THE FALL OF HYRULE ITSELF!" The speech-capable monsters and Yiga shouted. Arms were raised high with weapons in hand and Ghirahim began laughing in unison with Demise. This would be a day they would never forget...
By the late hours of the afternoon, Hylian forces were working hard to prepare themselves for the revived Demise's invasion of Hyrule. In areas like the Akkala region, Hylian troops were working hard to fortify and increase their defenses.
In fact, the entire Akkala garrison was more confident than ever that the fortress would not fall again just like it had a hundred years earlier. But due to recent events, soldiers were on edge and doubling guards around the vicinity every single hour on the hour.
Cannons were clean and ready. Bowmen stood at attention and soldiers trained with their weapons in preparation for combat. Reprogrammed and rebuilt Sheikah Skywatchers were on guard and alert too, ready to aid the Hylian soldiers at any given time.
Watcher Smith and his associate Jones were hardly afraid of what was to come, even as they stood atop the Akkala Tower and observed the area. So far, aside from a huge island surrounded by dark magic, nothing suspicious had grabbed their attention.
Now, things were feeling too quiet as nightfall came closer... until Jones let out a shriek of terror, "GREAT TRIFORCE OF HYLIA! WE GOT INCOMING!" Smith grabbed the telescope from Jones and looked through it, spotting what had freaked out his associate...
A massive battle-ready army consisting of monsters, Yiga and corrupted Guardians was crossing the ocean and approaching the citadel. And at the front of the army as its leader was the Demon King Demise and he was accompanied by the one known as Lord Ghirahim.
The sky turned red and the clouds shifted from orange to dark-red, alarms blared and soldiers scurried to their battle stations. "READY CANNONS AND TAKE ARMS!" Base Commander Latuka yelled. His troops saluted, knowing that they had a kingdom to defend.
"Foolish ill-prepared humans..." Demise chuckled evilly. He raised his sword and gave the signal to begin the attack. A pack of Guardians and Lizalfos archers wielding bomb arrows aimed at the citadel as the Hylians aimed at them.
Several passing seconds later, the enemy cut loose and explosions lit up the night. "OPEN FIRE!" A Hylian guard yelled desperately. The cannons fired and cannonballs streaked towards Demise's forces, taking out only a few Lizalfos and Bokoblins
The resilient and strong enemy kept advancing and remained on the offensive. In seconds, a horde of corrupted Guardian Stalkers were climbing the citadel wall and shooting down non-corrupted Guardians while blasting away at the structure.
Smith and Jones shrieked as Akkala Tower fell and they went down with it. Knowing that this was the end as their life flashed before their eyes, the two Hylians saluted each other and jumped in an attempt to reach safety before getting blasted by one of the Guardians.
A couple Hylian-loyal Guardian Stalkers tried to fight, only to be bombarded by rogue Skywatchers. Bokoblins clubbed and diced soldiers while Ghirahim got a piece of the action by chopping down Hylian guards who were unfortunate enough to come across him.
Latuka instructed his pet bird to go spread the word that Akkala was falling. As the bird flew off, Demise reached the top of the citadel and was confronted by the seemingly fearless base commander as Latuka drew his polished Royal Sword.
Chaos and carnage engulfed the fortress. Sheikah robots decimated each other and monsters sliced up Hylian soldiers. The ground was covered in spilled blood as soldiers fell while burning fires and explosions illuminated the darkness.
The place that had taken so much reconstruction efforts was once again being destroyed and would probably never go through a second reconstruction. Demise towered over Latuka, smirking evilly. "Well, human?" He asked, "Are you going to hide or fight?"
The somewhat brave Hylian charged at Demise, aiming for the legs so he could attempt to weaken him. But unfortunately, Demise anticipated this move and kicked the Hylian soldier hard enough to knock Latuka's sword right out of his hands.
Latuka's heart sank. As the formerly brave commander braced himself for the end, Demise brought down his sword and cut the Hylian soldier in half at the waist before cleaving the bisected Latuka in half from head to toe.
He watched as the Hylian Commander's remains crumpled to the ground and lay in a puddle of his own blood. Demise laughed evilly and raised his sword in triumph, boldly declaring that the Siege of Akkala was over as he basked in the glory of his victory...
