Chapter 9
By the time word had reached everyone's ears in the Gerudo region that Akkala had fallen, fear had already descended over the Hylian regiment and their Gerudo allies in the area. This was because a horde of Hynoxes and Lynels was heading their way.
To make matters worse, the Hynoxes and Lynels were accompanied by a group of Taluses and Moblins, Ghirahim clones and a pack of malice-created shadowy versions of Demise himself. At this point, the odds were not in Hyrule's favor.
Complete chaos reigned throughout the area as Hylians and Gerudo warriors fell to the incoming monsters without putting up a real fight. In a matter of seconds, heroic corpses littered the field and the whole area could only be described as an outdoor slaughterhouse!
Guardians annihilated Guardians like there was no tomorrow. Demise clones treated the Hylians and the Gerudo like cattle for the slaughterhouse, desecrating them as Demise's forces tore apart the Allied Hylian Forces without a shred of mercy.
Divine Beast Vah-Naboris soon remained, piloted by fallen Gerudo spirits as it tried to fight alongside its allies. The corrupted Guardians charged with their red lights flashing as they swarmed the groaning camel robot as the Gerudo spirits in it screamed with horror.
The monsters began to overrun the Sheikah-made machine. Vah-Naboris' lights flickered and deactivated. Its legs fell apart and the rest of its hide crumbled until the Divine Beast had fallen. Seeing how hopeless the situation was, the survivors made their retreat...
Meanwhile, as Gerudo Valley and Akkala Region were being badly devastated, the Zoras and their Hylian allies were desperately trying to defend Zora's Domain from the large hordes of attacking forces coming their way.
Zora's Domain was ablaze as Guardians burned away the Zora's home with laser fire and completely obliterated the throne room. Even the monsters were taking great pleasure in terrorizing or maiming Zora warriors and citizens in their vicinity.
Smoke filled the reddened sky and added to the dreaded feel of despair. Even as monsters suffered casualties, more came down from the sky to take their place while the fallen ones were resurrected in a heartbeat by Demise's dark magic.
Hordes of bat-like Keese joined in, dive bombing Hylian soldiers and distracting them long enough to get mauled by Moblins. Blood tainted the grass and fires burned with no end as Demise's minions showed no mercy.
Zora spirits rushed to the Hylians' aid too late and were snuffed out by monsters who could sense them. One Zora warrior screamed in agony as a Guardian blasted his arm off before a laser lanced through his heart, ending his life in two heartbeats.
Prince Sidon, who'd managed to get to a safer distance, watched from afar in horror as the enemy forces decimated Zora's Domain, the water was now boiling hot thanks to the burning fires. "My home, my family, it's all gone!" He moaned.
Knowing that he had to survive, the leader of the Link Fan Club made his retreat and ducked to avoid getting caught by Demise's forces. As Sidon ran for it, the last of the Hylian-Zora forces fell and both monsters and rogue Guardians alike began swarming Vah-Ruta.
Inside the Divine Beast, Tuna the Zora Ghost screamed in horror as Bokoblins and Guardians crawled inside. Knowing what was about to happen, Tuna fled and vanished into thin air.
Just like with the Divine Beast Vah-Naboris, Vah-Ruta groaned as it crumbled apart. With the big one down, the Guardians lit the remains ablaze. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. Two Divine Beasts were now destroyed and there was no way they could be rebuilt...
—Meanwhile, in the Death Mountain region—
Despite the Gorons' efforts to defend their home, Demise's forces demolished their defenses and steamrolled through the rock-eaters' home domain as Goron City fell to a mass onslaught of monsters. It was a complete, catastrophic nightmare!
Goron mines fell faster than a swarm of dragons could eat a Goron and the lava dams had been so badly damaged, magma was melting away the Gorons' homes. At this point, only Goron warriors, Hylian soldiers and Vah-Rudania remained in the volcanic region.
Upon the peak of the mountain, Hylian soldiers and Gorons stood side by side and trembled in fear as they watched hordes of monsters and corrupted Guardians advancing towards them and Vah-Rudania with Fire Hinoxes and Wing Moblins coming closer as well.
Chief Stones seemed to be the only Goron who was hardly scared of the incoming enemies. When a Goron warrior next to him whimpered in fear, Stones made sure that his voice was loud enough when he shouted, "CALM DOWN, WE CANNOT GIVE INTO FEAR!"
"Did you even hear the news about Akkala's Fall?" Hylian Guard Nick asked, "That sounded like… DARK FORCES INCOMING!" Goron defense systems activated and both Gorons and Hylians prepared for battle with bows in hand and swords drawn.
Despite their attempted resistance, the tide of the fight was already in the enemy's favor and the Hyrulean Forces stood no chance. Many were brutally decimated without mercy by the enemy while a handful were forced to retreat towards Central Hyrule.
Divine Beast Vah-Rudania came under heavy laser fire from corrupted Guardians and its situation got worse as the big monsters joined in and fired heat-proof bomb arrows at the mechanical beast. Rudania tried hard to protect itself, but in the end, it fell to its enemies...
At the exact same time Death Mountain was being ravaged, the Rito were not doing so well against the enemy blitzkrieg. Their village was under Skywatcher bombardment, monsters were smashing the Rito's defenses and the entire region was being overrun.
Warriors were being squashed like bugs, rocks crumbled and snow fell. Grass burned and Divine Beast Vah-Medi was shrieking like mad as its wings were blasted by Guardian lasers while the majestic bird-like Divine Beast tried to raise a shield.
Galian the Rito Composer took flight when it was clear that the battle was already lost. He flapped his wings like crazy and flew through the air like the wind, catching up to his good friend Kass right as he was also fleeing the chaos.
"Nice to see you, dear friend." Kass complimented with delight when he saw his fellow Rito flying alongside him, "I almost thought you were going to perish with the other Rito."
"It'll take more than a huge army and explosions to end my flying for good, fellow Rito musician." Galian said with a smile, "Besides, I'm just as well-skilled as you are."
"Shall we head to Central Hyrule? If I am right, it will be where a last stand shall be made. Even though Hyrule is falling to darkness, there is a shining ray of hope."
As the two Rito fled along with their kin, the corrupted Guardians and the other servants of Demise finally overwhelmed Vah-Medi and the Divine Beast became engulfed in flames. And so, all the Divine Beasts were destroyed!
For those who'd lost their lives, it was over at this point. And even if there was some kind of last-minute miracle, there was no bright future for Hyrule...
Hatenoans screamed in terror and ran for their lives as their village was finally invaded by the hordes of monsters and mechanical beings. After being spared from Ganon's wrath for a full century, it seemed that Hateno's luck had finally run out!
Desperate to try and save as many lives as he possibly could, Mayor Dal Kaebora and many others worked to evacuate citizens and retreating soldiers as fires burned and the sounds of explosions echoed throughout the cold dark night.
Those who couldn't make it were among the many unlucky victims who screamed as they were engulfed in the chaos of the carnage. Hateno Lab, which stood atop a nearby hill, stood firm as an ancient technologically-advanced shield surrounded it.
Sheikah scientists Puhra and Walther remained inside their well-prepared secret bunker just under the lab. Once it was over, they would emerge and try to begin their lives again in a new Hyrule.
Many brave citizens, who'd survived so far, took up arms and attacked the enemy forces head-on. But despite their brave efforts, the Hateno Resistance didn't stand a chance and was demolished by the enemy.
With no resistance left, nothing could save Hateno at this point. The village that had served as a safe haven for refugees of the Great Calamity was finally destroyed...
Even though Korok Forest had been spared so far, Demise's power still cast a darkened shadow over the sacred grove and was sensed by the Great Deku Tree as his elderly eyes popped open. Even the Koroks seemed to feel it too and were panicking.
Lorok the Wise didn't seem to be afraid of what was occurring. He remained calm, hardly flinching in fear whenever a dark shadow loomed over him. "Lorok!" The Deku Tree's voice boomed, "Dost thou sense the ominous shadow and the light that shines in the darkness?"
"Mighty Deku Tree, I sense it." Lorok replied, "The one known as Demise has returned and is destroying our world. The future seems bleak but there is hope left. Link and Zelda have a Yiga ally named Joyata, who is destined to play a vital role in the looming battle."
