A/N: After spending the past couple of days watching Olaf's Frozen Adventure and Frozen 2, I came to the realisation that there was far too little Iduna x Agnarr with their daughters content! I loved the insight we got into their friendship and then their love story when Elsa was looking at the moments in time, so I decided to write this little collection of one-shots! This is my first time writing for Frozen and for any of the characters, so I really hope you like this!
"Ugh, do you mind?" Iduna groaned, perched on the bed with Agnarr knelt in front of her, lacing her shoes.
"What have I done?" He inquired, his brows knitting together with confusion as he lifted his gaze to her.
"No, no, not you," She laughed with a shake of her head before pushing a hand through his hair, the two of them sharing a smile when she laid that same hand on her growing bump through her dress. "No, I'm talking to this child of yours. For some reason, it seems to find kicking the life out of me all day long most amusing."
He couldn't help but chuckle as he rose from the floor once he had laced up both her shoes, his hands finding her own before he helped her stand from the bed and took her by the waist so he could pull her close to him. "Ever noticed how it's always my child when it's being a little rascal and yours whenever it's behaving itself? I recall you being something of a little terror when you were young. Perhaps, this little one will take after you."
"Excuse me, I was a delight as a child," She ran her hands down his arms. "Well, most of the time, anyway."
He looked at her in silence for a minute, smiling as his hands moved to her back. "I am so in love with you."
"I should hope so, Your Majesty," She teased. "Especially since I'm going through all this to give you a child."
Wordlessly, he took one hand from her back and brought it to the side of her neck before brushing his thumb against her cheek and drawing her into a kiss. He only intended for it to be a simple one, knowing the village people were waiting outside for them to ring the Yule bell, but that soon changed when she circled her arms around his neck. Doing his best not to mess her hair up since Viola had spent quite some time on it, he rested a hand on the back of her head and smoothed the other across her lower back as they sank into the kiss. "You know you're going to make us late, don't you?" He murmured when he pulled back a little to look her in the eye, his love for her deepening at her flushed cheeks. "From experience, I know Erling can't stand being late."
"Pity…" She pouted before drawing him into one last kiss. "Okay, I suppose you're right."
"Really? Can I get that in writing?"
"Agnarr, I adore you, but I'm tired and uncomfortable. Please, don't make me smack you today of all days."
"I promise, that's the end of the teasing," He assured her with a kiss to her brow. "Come, let's head down."
She nodded her response before taking hold of his arm when he offered it to her, her other hand supporting her stomach as they exited their bedroom and began to head downstairs. The servants lining the grand hall all bowed and curtsied as they made their way past them on their way outside, Iduna unable to keep herself from smiling when a loud applause broke out as they walked through the doors. Thankfully, due to their little tryst, the Yule bell was already in place which was going to make things so much easier. Much less standing around.
"Ready, my darling?" Agnarr asked when she dropped his arm and they took hold of the rope.
"Ready." She nodded before they turned to their people and gave the rope three strong tugs.
"Let the holidays begin!" Agnarr said, prompting another round of applause from all in attendance.
Like every year, a couple of families greeted them and made their way inside the castle for the little gathering they had planned while others wandered out of the courtyard to head home and see to their family traditions. Mr and Mrs Hansen, however, before going inside, came to stand before them and they gave the elder couple a smile. "Congratulations again, your majesties, on the little prince or princess," Mr Hansen said, allowing his wife to slip her arm through his and lean against him. "It mustn't be long now, I expect you're both thrilled."
"A little over a week, Mr Hansen," Iduna informed him. "And yes, we are, thank you."
Mrs Hansen held a little box out to the Queen. "It isn't much, but we didn't want to come empty-handed."
"Oh, how lovely, thank you," Iduna beamed before she removed the lid and her breath caught in the back of her throat as she took in the sight of the silver baby rattle. "Not much? Mr and Mrs Hansen, this is beautiful!"
"It was mine," Mrs Hansen admitted. "It has been in my family for generations, but we weren't lucky enough to have children of our own to pass it down to. I hate to leave it to gather dust, so I thought you may like it."
Agnarr smiled, putting an arm around his wife. "We truly appreciate it, but are you certain?"
"Quite," She nodded. "I hope it brings the little prince or princess as much happiness as it brought me."
Iduna thanked her again with her eyes before she and her husband made their way past them, stepping inside the castle together, and she sighed when Agnarr brought her close with a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Iduna?"
"I had a rattle like this one when I was young," She told him. "Like this one, it had been in my family for so many years and I expect I was always meant to pass it down to my own child, but I…I left it in the Enchanted Forest. I don't know, it sounds stupid, but it was a little piece of mother that I could have given to our baby."
He nodded in understanding. "I'm sorry."
"No, don't be," She shook her head. "I miss my family so much, but I could never regret the choice I made."
"Do you mean that?" He touched a hand to her cheek when she looked up at him.
Smiling, she rose onto her tiptoes to kiss him. "More than anything. All I could ever want, I have with you."
"I feel the same," He whispered while touching his forehead to hers. "You will be a wonderful mother."
"And you will be a wonderful father." She grinned.
"We'll be the best team."
"The best…"
