The goddess realm was heavenly. Welcoming her were two pearly gates, a godly being on either side of each. Kindness emanated from everyone she passed, all of them smiling at her whilst she walked alongside the silver-haired goddess, their hands entwined by her own asking, as if she could actually fall off these clouds at any moment. Not once in her life had she felt wanted. But not only did she feel wanted, she was being revered. And Ymir had never been happier. She'd never once felt self-conscious about her appearance before, never thinking it mattered, but her peasant tattered dress that hung thin by her ankles made her feel underdressed and intruding in this world so pure it was blinding. But Elizabeth kept squeezing onto her hand, as if to assure her everything was fine. That she was going to be fine. That had been enough to bring the girl to tears; she hadn't felt fine in such a long time.
The King had been attacked. And perhaps the forced devotion she had to him was what made her respond to the threat the way she had. If she had let King Fritz die, she would have had her freedom – something she desired more than anything else in the world. Freedom for both her and the daughters she had born for that tyrant: Rose, Sina and Maria. But Ymir had never gotten the chance to be greedy before, and maybe the decision was made out of pure spite for her own life. Maybe it was that she had just wanted to die instead. But when had been reduced to compost, her daughters devouring her all while knowing she was still alive with her soul intact, a literal angel had come to her. The King, her daughters abandoning her – it was a god that had come to save her life. Ymir remembers it as though it was happening all over again,
So this is what it feels like to be eaten alive. Still, it was no more worse than what King Fritz made me endure when we were alone. My flesh, my very organs… devoured. How is it that I'm still alive? It hurts. It hurts so much. Is this to be my fate, rotting alone forever in my own residue? Maybe it's a fate fit for somebody like me. I've brought ruin to nations. Marley… what did they even do to the land of Eldia? I can't seem to remember. What is left of me can never be salvaged. My spine's been taken out - there's no way I'll recover from this. That cursed power won't even come to save me in my most dire hour… WHY AM I STILL ALIVE? Let me die! Please! Whatever deity there is out there, I beg of you. Just grant me this mercy. I no longer wish to be a part of this world. I don't deserve to… just end this suffering. I'm tired. I'm so tired. I want to sleep. Just.. let me… sleep..
'Then sleep, child.'
… what? Who was that?
'Shhh..' That voice. Who is it shushing me? Why is it so bright all of a sudden? It doesn't hurt as much anymore. What.. what is happening to me? No…! Wait.. Let me die, I beg you-
'It'll all be fine, I promise.' The light is getting brighter. I feel warmer. My sight plunged in utter darkness is no more. I feel it. I can.. I can see.. how is it that I can see?
'Conserve your strength, Ymir. My mother heard your plea.'
Is this peace? Am I passing on?
'No, you're not dying just yet.' She sounds determined. Eyes. I can see eyes. But I've never seen eyes like those before. How very beautiful they are...
'I refuse to let you die, not when you haven't even lived at all.' Such conviction is in her voice. How odd. It's been a while since I've witnessed such resolve. But now she's crying? Why is she crying? Perhaps a sight like this is too gruesome for her to see. But such eyes like these should never be filled with water. I'm so sorry. I never meant to make her cry. I'm a monster. I'm a hideous beast that needs to be put down. I'm a putrid devil and nothing more.. I don't deserve salvation!
'That's where you're wrong, Ymir.' Lips. I can see lips, so pink and pretty and curved up at the edges. But what in Eldia is there to smile about? Is she smiling at me?
'I've seen putrid devils before, fought them myself. A race that was born out of pure evil and nothing else - I'd know if I was looking one in the eye.' I can see her. Her face in it's glorious entirety. Oh, what a sight for sore eyes. A heavenly maiden is what she is, a maiden that I don't deserve to lay my demonic eyes on. I'm too impure for such a grace to look down upon. I don't deserve such kindness after the atrocities and sins I've committed.
'Everyone's a sinner when you really think about it, you know.' She's talking again. Her voice is so melodious to the ear. Like chimes. She isn't singing, but a voice like hers could rival King Fritz's entire choir assembly. 'Every impure thought, every wish to harm another. Even every wish to harm ourselves… they're all sins in the eyes of someone. It can't be helped. If you believe yourself too atrocious to be saved then so be it, I can change a being's will but I cannot shatter their desires. If what you desire is to die, then you want to die. If you perceive yourself as a demon or a devil, then that is exactly what you are. To yourself, and yourself only. To me,' It's painful almost, this blinding light of hers. But also, it's comforting, all encompassing. Safety, is what it feels like.
'you're a soul that doesn't get to die until you've reaped goodness from this earth. You humans live too short lives to be wanting to end life so quickly- I simply won't stand for it! I believe that everyone deserves a chance to be saved: demon, devil or other! It doesn't matter how you see yourself or what it is you want, Ymir. I'm saving all of you. And I'll make this promise to you now… this life will be a better one. Embrace of the goddesses!'
At once, the pain numbed as if it was never there. She had taken the advice given to her at the revelation that her body was being mended, and had solace in her sleep. She hadn't slept in so long.
When she had awoken, she and Elizabeth were in a grassy plain. She hadn't seen a plain ever since she had been captured from her homeland and taken to be a slave for King Fritz. The breeze on her newly fleshed face brought tears to her sleepy eyes, and the brightening of the sky was beautiful. When was the last time she had witnessed dawn?
"Oh. You're awake." Elizabeth had said.
At first, Ymir startled, having thought what she experienced was just a dream. But there her angel was, silver tendrils blowing in the wind and kind face smiling down at her. Her dress, Ymir could only describe as courtesan, but the woman before her didn't exactly look like a prostitute. Her white dress reached just above mid thigh, and maroon ribbon tied into a bow draped from the dress' chest with a singular blue jem protruding in the center. Several white capes were connected to the gold plackart around her midsection too, but with nothing else of her wearing armour, what an impractical place to wear it, Ymir thought - around her calves were gold also, two blue jewels placed at the top and at the bottom of the design until the gold connected with white flats.
Ymir had just stared. Perhaps it was the drowsiness of her awaking, or maybe even the exhaustion from having her flesh being sown back together earlier, but she could have sworn this woman was glowing. But whether or not she really was, there was no way Ymir could have imagined the two wings hugging the stomach-plate around her waist, and the other two which stuck out, individual feathers reacting to the wind. Could she actually be a real angel?
"You wouldn't be the first to think that," she giggled.
Ymir squinted.
Could she read her mind?
"No, I can't." the woman said. Then she paused. "Well, usually I can't. What I call this is transmitting thoughts. I can usually only do it with people I'm connected with, or people who are vulnerable. I suppose in your state, it's rather easy…"
She was right. Maybe just hours ago (days maybe), she had been worse than a corpse, bones at most. Ymir could feel everything right now, the sensation on her new skin making her tingle. Her fingers pushed into the grass felt every individual blade, and her ears could discern the direction and range of every bird that chirped this early morning. She was beyond sensitive, and could actually feel the weight of her own body dragging her down. She didn't even think standing up was an option, and if it wasn't for the thick tree her back rested on, she didn't think she was capable of sitting up herself. Come to think of it, how did she even get here? It wasn't like King Fritz had ever really allowed her the luxury of exploring the country she had been enslaved to, but she couldn't think of one place in Eldia that wouldn't be war-torn right now.
"We're in the nation of Marley, some kind man told me. It's quite simple to get anywhere you want from the goddess realm, but to get back.. mm not so much."
Ymir felt her eyes widen a fraction. They were in Marley? That meant they were in enemy territory.
"Oh, don't worry. Before you woke up, I asked the warriors here to leave. No one's coming back until we're gone."
What?
"Above the clouds here is an entrance to the goddess realm." Seeing the confusion in Ymir's eyes, Elizabeth chose to elaborate. "The goddess realm is a dimension of it's own, but you can still access it from the human realm. Although.." Elizabeth pulled back from standing over Ymir to look up at the clouds. "I doubt the Silver City is the place we'll reach through here. Heofon country might be where we end up."
All Ymir could do was blink as this woman put words into sentences she couldn't understand. Goddess realm? Heofon was a word she'd read in the religious books King Fritz owned, not like she actually believed in God though.
Trying to make sense of what her angel was saying, she had missed when Eizabeth had crouched in front of her again. She flinched at the proximity.
"Oh that's right. Not all humans know about the other clans, do they?" It was a question asked to herself, and the answer dawned on her at the same time. She smiled again, looking Ymir in the eyes, confidence and regality radiating off her,
"My name is Elizabeth of the goddess clan. It's a pleasure to meet you, fellow goddess Ymir."
Hi! This is a manga spoiler free story! So if you're just an anime watcher, then you should be fine reading this. It only has themes up to season 4 part 2, episode 5. Specifically up to the part where Eren says,
"You're nobody's slave, and you're no god either. You're just a person."
This fanfiction is going to play on ideas of both Ymir canon as well as headcanons and mythology. In Attack On Titan, Ymir is revered for her power and strength that's on god par. It's the same in this story too, and there'll be people who'll want to use her for her ability and exploit it, like King Fritz. Also, as much as I despise it (minor spoiler), Ymir in this story is going to still be in love with King Fritz. It's beyond annoying, but it's for a future interaction I have planned.
Now when it comes to why I decided to do a crossover between AOT and the Seven Deadly Sins, it's because my all-time favourite character in any anime, is goddess Elizabeth. I wanted to make a story to do with my favourite character in my newest favourite anime.
There aren't enough stories about her before the holy war that don't revolve around her love life. It WILL come into play though, and Meliodas will become a main character at some point, but it's not really a major thing. The reason for the Supreme Deity sending Elizabeth for Ymir is something that has to be explained beforehand too.
AOT overall is just a very human show, despite there being titan-shifters, time-travelling and people trapped in co-ordinates with all the power in the world. The protagonist was never really overpowered, and especially in the first season, Eren faces many human struggles. For this story, I wanted to focus on the overpowered aspects of AOT. Eren will make a cameo though!!
I really hope you all stick around for what I have coming. I don't have a schedule, but you'll be able to pick up on a pattern sometime soon.
Elizabeth in this story: https/7dsgc./wiki/Blue_Goddess_Elizabeth
(her outfit is blue goddess elizabeth's outfit, not holy war elizabeth's from gloxinia and drole's flashback. and i'm 100% stealing some of her powers from the game because i'm unoriginal.:D)
Heofon: a part of the sky, and the place of God.
