Chapter 2. Another brilliant idea...
Many days went by after Jack had taken the potion, apparently the Guardians were hoping that the potion would wear off and Jack would become normal again, but this wasn't the case, Jacks appearance had become permanent. This scared the Guardians more than ever, what would and could be happening to their Jack? He was different in more ways than one. Could this really be their Jack Frost? Or a stranger. They didn't know what do do or how to fix him.
Jack would continue to wander through the North Pole, looking and searching, but for what? There was something he craved, something he wanted, ideas and memories often flooded through his mind as he tried to figure it out. He also wished that there was another person like him, maybe a friend that could see what he saw in this strange world of the dead...yes...a world of the dead, much reminded him of Halloween which had passed weeks ago. What if there were lots more like him? Where would they be, where would they stay?
Jack picked up a stray elf and looked at it. The elf started to scream with terror as it saw Jacks skeleton form and black eyes. Jack shook the elf making it's bell jingle wildly. "Oh quit it you fool, can't you see that I'm Jack Frost?" Jack said.
"More like Jack Skeleton." Bunny said in the distance.
Jack perked up and grinned. "Why that is a brilliant idea, a name that suits me!" Jack said. The others sighed as they rubbed their temples. Why oh why did Bunny even mention the name?
"You haven't looked like yourself Jack, not at all." Tooth said.
"Isn't that wonderful? It couldn't be more wonderful!" Jack said happily.
"But your Jack Frost!" Tooth said sternly.
"Not anymore! I feel so much better now." he said.
Tooth sighed. "Jack I know you think there's something missing but-"
"You're right, there is something missing...but what?" Jack went back to his thinking and after awhile a word slipped from his mouth. "Halloween town?..." He said thoughtfully. "Yes of course, that's perfect!" he said out loud. Then music was turned on somewhere and it sang about Christmas.
Christmas...
Jack looked around at all of the toys and holiday trees. 'Yes of course, Christmas will be here soon." he thought. Sooner than anyone thought. But in the meantime, Jack was going to be busy, he had firmly decided that he would build his Halloween town, for it seemed to suit him better than the North Pole.
But how would it be a Halloween town if he didn't have zombies and monsters to live there? Where would he get them? Of course he new, what else? He tracked his way back to the potion room, grabbing more potions of different kinds. Different colors. Each one would have a different affect...
He counted the days that passed and at the same time North and the other Guardians were off doing their own business, probably fighting off more enemies without him, finding he would probably be useless in such a thing. But also North was gone, leaving one of the yetis in charge,
….and leaving Jack Skellington by himself... he new just what to do in his precious time alone.
Every night he would dose the yetis and elves food with one of the potions. Screams could be heard at night and roars also. They did not sleep but wandered, becoming Jacks own creations now, his servants. They saw him as their king of Halloween and Jack didn't say no to that. He turned everything scary, every living thing and every toy. But after they were all turned into hairy monsters and ragged zombies and goblins Jack locked himself in his own thinking work space, feeling that it wasn't enough to satisfy him. no... it wasn't enough.
The morning came slowly and the creatures all waited for more of Jacks orders.
"Something's up with Jack." an elf said.
"Something's up with Jack." another one said at the same time.
"Don't know if we're ever going to get him back." said a yeti.
"He's all alone up there Locked away inside." said another yeti.
"Never says a word." said an elf.
"Hope he hasn't died." said another.
Something's up with Jack, Something's up with Jack." They all sang.
"Christmas time is buzzing in my skull.
Will it let me be? I cannot tell.
There are so many things I cannot grasp.
When I think I've got, and then at last.
Through my bony fingers it does slip, like a snowflake in a fiery grip. Something's here I'm not quite getting.
Though I try, I keep forgetting.
Like a memory long since past.
Here in an instant and gone in a flash.
What does it mean? What does it mean?!
In these little bric-a-brac.
A secret's waiting to be cracked.
These dolls and toys confuse me so.
Confound it all, I love it though...
Simple objects, nothing more.
Bout something's hidden through a door.
Though I do not have the key.
Something's there I cannot see.
What does it mean? What does it mean?!
What does it mean?
Hmm...
I've read their Christmas books so many times,
I know the stories and I know the rhymes.
I know the Christmas carols all by heart.
My skull's so full, it's tearing me apart!
As often as I've read them, something's wrong.
So hard to put my bony finger on.
Or perhaps it's not as deep As I've been led to think.
Am I trying much too hard?
Of course! I've been too close to see.
The answer's right in front of me!
Right in front of me.
It's simple really, very clear Like music drifting in the air,
Invisible, but everywhere.
Just because I cannot see it, doesn't mean I can't believe it!
You know, I think this Christmas thing Is not as tricky as it seems.
And why should they have all the fun?
It should belong to anyone!
Not anyone, in fact, but me! Why, I could make a Christmas tree.
And there's no reason I can find I couldn't handle Christmas time, I bet I could improve it too!
And that's exactly what I'll do!... HEE, HEE, HEE!" Jack sang to himself.
"Eureka! This year, Christmas will be OURS!" He shouted the last words to everyone below. Jack being the leader of the yetis and jingle bell hats, told them to rearrange the toys for Christmas and make them look more swell and unpleasant, but to his mind he considered them to be fun and brilliant. 'Yes the kids are going to love these.' He thought. Counting the days more closely now, Christmas wasn't to far ahead...
