Gill lunged for the bars again, he had much much more energy now, constantly soaking his scales with all the mud he could reach. He had to get out, he had to go back to the Sea Kingdom. I have to warn them, or it's going to be the end of the SeaWings.
The bright burnt orange colored SkyWing came regularly, checking on Gill and giving him food. Every time, Gill had asked what was going on. The guard always reluctantly told him snippets, agitating Gill, why can't you just say more? Like, what happened to Coral? Did the attack take place already?
Last time the guard game, he had thrown a plump pig at Gill and stormed away, his talons clenched as though he was trying to scare Gill from asking him questions.
"What's going on?" Gill had asked like always.
The guard had turned and glared at him, his tail lashing, he clutched the spear harder, "None of your business SeaWing."
Gill had given him an offended look and edged his way closer to the bars. "Come on, tell me, what's going in the Sky Kingdom? When am I EVER getting out of this pit?"
The SkyWing gave him a frustrated look and stomped back to face Gill, the orange dragon towering over the green sea dragon. "Queen Ruby is still making her decisions, she' s busy at the moments with those dragonets of destiny."
Dragonet of destiny? Gill thought, wasn't the traitorous SeaWing that attacked me a dragonet of destiny, she was the one I saw in the Mud Kingdom, I wonder what she's doing here/
"Did you find them?" He had asked again, looking straight up at the blazing yellow eyes of the guard.
The guard had given him a I-want-to-stab-you glare and snapped, "no, but our spies in the Ice Kingdom had confirmed they weren't there."
So, they're in the Kingdom of the Sea. I hope Coral stabs that dragonet, after all she's done to me! Gill could almost, almost, still feel the other SeaWing pouncing on him, and nearly killing him with those cold-hearted eyes.
Gill had continued questioning the guard until he stomped off when Gill asked him, "So, who do you think is going to win the war?"
Gill lay down, clawing at the bars, he roared out in anger. He wished he could wrench his prison door open with his mind and Storm around and knock that pathetic guard aside. Wait no, he's a kind dragon. This darkness is driving me insane! Stop thinking of attacking, crushing, and smashing SkyWings!
He glared at the door again, his green eyes fired on the doorknob. To his immense surprise, the door was thrown open. And two SkyWing guards stomped in, they were both huge and angry. They dragged another limp body with them, and surprisingly, put her in the cage just in front of Gill.
They turned and glared at both prisoners, one of them breathed a plume of flame, illuminating the dungeons. Gill caught a glimpse of orange scales in the firelight, the other prisoner is a SkyWing.
The two guards turned and tried to leave, but Gill called them back, "can you take me to see Ruby? I want to talk to her!"
One guard, the taller male one, the one who had breathe smoke gave an amused snort, "oh look Harrier, our prisoner is ordering us!"
The other, a female barked a laugh, "yeah, next time one-year old dragonets will be boring our queen! Grow up SeaWing!" She gave another laugh and stomped off followed closely by the other guard. Mean, Gill thought.
~.~
After a few more endless days (at least he thought though, the burnt orange guard came thrice already), Gill had talked often with the SkyWing prisoner. It turned out she was imprisoned for being a spy for Blister, so she wasn't as grumpy towards Gill.
She also seemed to know how many days had passed, when Gill asked how many days since Queen Scarlet's hatching day, she replied with about two weeks now. She also said, during one period Queen Ruby's army started moving away, however she didn't get enough information before getting caught.
That day, two more guards slouched in, they opened Gill's cell. His heart leaped, she finally wants to see me! Great! They held him between them and half dragged half towed him towards the exit.
As they went out, Gill was momentarily blinded by the bright light, taking him a few moments of head-shaking to figure out he was standing by the throne room.
Ruby was perched on the throne, Gill remembered too clearly when Queen Scarlet stood there, issuing orders. I hope she's more reasonable.
"Welcome SeaWing," she growled, her tail lashing, "I have made a decision. Tomorrow, you shall be shipped to Burn's stronghold. I suspect she would love to have you as prisoner and torture some information out of you."
No!
"No," Gill protested as he guards closed on him, "you can't do that! I have to go home!"
Ruby gave him a sad look, "I'm sorry, sometimes in war you have to make harsh decisions." She looked away as Gill was dragged away from her. Away from his bright future.
