Never Again
Pulling onto the lot, Audrey had to mentally prepare herself for what she was going to have to do, but from driving yourself back across the country to head home, it would be really stupid for you not to get your car checked, make sure that everything was in working order.
Looking over the parking lot, it was still the same, well maybe it just seemed that way to her, the last time she came here was when she was 16, not that she was exactly proud of the moment, but to be fair, Jax treated her older sister like some trash, and while they were consenting adults, Audrey had a hard time understanding why he of all people would do that to someone he knew, grew up with.
Letting out a deep breath, she stepped out of her Camaro. Her shades keeping the bright sun from blaring into her eyes. Looking around, she was hoping to find someone to help her, but not seeing anyone, she made her way up to the office, gently knocking hoping to get Gemma's attention.
Gemma looked up to see who was disrupting her work, checking over the girl that was standing in her doorway, wearing a sundress, definitely not a croweater, "Can I help you?" she asked, her voice brokering no room for games.
Clearing her throat, at least Gemma hasn't changed, "Yes, just bringing my car in to get a oil change, and tune up, drove it across the country. Wanna take care of it. Please."
Taking a hit from her cig, Gemma eyed the girl, she looked so familiar, "Do I know you?" Gemma asked.
Nodding, "Yes. I was 16 the last time you saw me." Extending her hand, "Audrey Timmons," smiling when Gemma took her hand, "Cassandra's baby sister."
Gemma's eyes went wide, "Well, holy shit. Look at you, all grown up." Giving her a once over, she was a curvy blonde, and those sea green eyes, she definitely was going to catch attention from the guys, but last she heard, she went to North Carolina. Dropping her hand, "What brings you back to Charming?" Always curious about who was coming into her town.
Nervously tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, "Mom. She's not doing well, and Cassie, she really can't handle it all alone, so, I figured coming home would be best." Looking around, she could see a picture of a little boy on her desk, "10 years is a long time to stay away."
All she could really do is nod, that's true, but eventually people always come back home. "You plan on staying?" Walking out towards the lot, indicating for her to follow.
Keeping in step, "Yes ma'am. I built a good life for myself, but, what's a good life if you don't have family around?" Pointing to the car in front of them, "This is mine."
Gemma didn't get to respond, as she went to ask for the information to start the process of getting the car into the shop, Jax, Opie, Happy, and Kozik came out of the garage.
Kozik could see a cute little blonde talking to Gemma, her dress was just above her knee, her hair piled on top of her head. She was gorgeous, and nothing like the used-up whores that come around the club. Following the rest of the guys towards the woman, he could see the moment she knew that she wasn't alone. As she turned, he watched her eyes go wide, but mostly staring at Jax. Figures.
Jax watched the young woman stare at him, she looked familiar, "Have we met?" he asked. Wracking his brain, he knew he saw her before, somewhere.
Audrey couldn't believe that Jackson Teller was standing in front of her, why did this have to be the only damn repair shop in Charming. The gods are cruel. Hearing Gemma snort, with a quick look at the woman, she could see the amusement in her face. Hilarious. Turning her attention to him, and the others that were watching her with interest.
Clearing her throat, "Yeah. I took a bat to your head." Extending her hand, "Audrey Timmons, Cassie's sister."
Jax stared down at the girl, he remembered that night well, he was barely 24, still reeling over what Tara put him through, and going through girls like water, but he remembered using Cassie longer than the rest of the girls. "I see that you've grown up," looking her over, "I don't see a bat, so that's a good start."
Snorting, "It doesn't go with this dress." Her eyes finding Opie, "hello Opie."
Opie looked down, "Hey Audrey. You're not back to finish what you started?" he teased.
Gemma couldn't help but laugh at it, not too many people from this town would even think about talking back to a SON, but little Audrey, came out swinging to protect her sister. That was something that Gemma could respect.
Shaking her head, "No. Figured I got away with it one time, probably not a second." Her eyes finding the tall bald one staring down at her. Instantly feeling nervous, but she was sure that's what he was going for. Moving her eyes on, she found a blonde surfer looking one, almost smiling at her. Giving the both of them a small smile.
Placing her hand on her the girl's shoulder, "Seems like Audrey is coming home, and needs her car looked at."
Jax nodded, "Coming back to Charming? Figured you'd land a million miles from here."
Happy watched as she figured, it was obvious that she didn't want to be on the lot, but probably had to do with taking a swing at Jax, which he was going to figure out how she wasn't 6 feet under.
Kozik couldn't help but laugh at the image of her swinging at Jax. Just by looking at her, she wasn't very tall, maybe 5'4. His eyes finding Gemma's, "She took a bat to Jax?" he said out loud.
Audrey's eyes found his, giving him a small smile, "It was 10 years ago, I was 16." Looking at Jax, "But to be fair, you kind of deserved it."
Laughing loudly, "Yeah, I was such a dick. I hope Cassie is doing good these days."
Nodding, "Yeah, she is. Seems like she forgave you not too long after, I was the one holding on to the anger, but I was young and perhaps a little over-protective." Hoping that he wouldn't hold it against her.
Pulling her into a bear hug. "All is forgiven." Smiling when she just stood there frozen. "I don't bite."
Awkwardly patting his shoulder, "I know, just taken by surprise." Feeling a bit of relief when he let her go. While she could move past what happened, it would forever be burned into her brain what he did. It seemed like most of the guys, treated women like shit.
Gemma could see that she was uneasy, it wasn't because of what they were, but the contact, she didn't seem too fond of being touched. Stepping in, taking her back to the office, getting all the paperwork signed, and a rough ETA of when they should be done. "Do you need a ride somewhere?" she asked.
"No Mrs. Morrow. I can walk. It's not too hot out, and it's Charming." Grabbing her bag, she made her way off the lot, heading back to her home, it was a run-down piece of garbage, but she got a great deal on it, and was looking forward to gutting it and doing a complete remodel on the damn thing.
Gemma watched her walk off the lot, her eyes finding her son, and brothers watching her intently, she knew that one of those idiots would try to push on her, she just hoped for her son's sake, he wasn't that stupid.
Taking a hit off the joint, Happy looked at his VP, "So, what the hell caused that tiny bitch to come at you?"
Rolling his eyes at his brother, "I fucked her sister, and may have indicated that it was supposed to be more, but it wasn't. I was still dealing with the Tara shit." Letting out a groan at the memory, "Well her sister caught me with a croweater, and I guess when she went home, she told her baby sister, and" taking another hit, "Audrey didn't take well to me hurting her big sister and came to cave my head in."
Kozik couldn't help but laugh, "Damn. Fiesty." Besides being sexy as hell, she was a tough little thing. That was something he could respect.
Opie couldn't help but laugh, "If it wasn't for Raine for grabbing the bat, Jax wouldn't be so pretty."
Happy was torn, wanting to laugh, but pissed, not liking a bitch thinking she could attack a SON. "How she still walking around?" It was a legit question.
Jax shrugged, "She was doing what any one of would do for family." Tossing the joint on the ground, "I couldn't fault her for it."
Kozik nodded, "It takes some guts to come on the lot and come after you."
Nodding, "Opie, and I went to school with her older sister, but I do remember that Audrey, while a bookworm, really didn't have any fear."
Sitting out on the bench for a bit longer, eventually Gemma yelled at them to get their asses to work.
Kozik ended up with the girl's car, smiling at it. Manual, clean, and organized. Perhaps he would need to find a way to get to know her. Not that he didn't enjoy a whore every now and then, but maybe it's time for a change.
Walking into her house, she smiled, it as a modest 3-bedroom 2 bath home. It already had the open concept going for it, just needed new everything, looking at her watch, the contractor should be here to start on her master bedroom/bathroom, figured that she would start there, and move out to the living space, kitchen, and the rest of the home.
Heading towards the guest bedroom, she quickly changed, and put her clothes away. Hearing the door, Audrey walked to the door, peering through the hole, smiling seeing the contractor, opening the door, she let him enter.
They sat down the at the table, quickly going over the choices, colors, and tiles, to make sure that it was everything that she already picked out, once she finished signing the paperwork to give them permission to start the work.
Standing up, Audrey headed out the door, making her way towards her sister's house. It took about 20 minutes or so, but eventually she got there, knocking on the door. She couldn't help but smile when Cassie opened the door.
"Hey sweetie." Looking out the door, "Where's your car?" she asked.
"At Teller-Morrow. I needed an oil change," shutting the door as she walked inside, "How's ma?" she asked.
Rolling her eyes, "Ma's fine, she's sleeping now, but she's been sick. I don't really think she has a lot of time. I'm glad that you came home."
Sitting down on the couch, she couldn't help but frown at the thought. "I'm glad I'm home too. I want to help you."
Wrapping her arms around her sister, "Thank you." Realizing that she had to go to the Teller-Morrow lot to drop, "How was Jax?" Cassie asked in a teasing tone.
Rolling her eyes, "It was fine, luckily he seemed to have a sense of humor about the whole thing."
Cassie couldn't help but laugh, "Well, that's good, my husband and I really don't need trouble from the SON's." she joked.
"You are hilarious." Thinking back on the looks that Gemma gave her, she couldn't help; but be a little grateful that she found it a little amusing that she tried to take off her son's head, and she wasn't trying to murder her, even now. "But I get it, he was hurting, you were hurting, and I may have over-reacted."
It was a darker time in Cassie's life, but she never hated him for it, they were both young and dumb. Knowing that her sister felt the desire to protect her honor, would be something that she would always love her for that. "Nah, you just reacted the way a good sister would. But it could have been a good thing, if it wasn't for Jax, doing what he did, I would never have learned that I wanted more, and would never have met Daniel."
Smiling at her sister, "Yeah, he's a pretty great dude." Sitting back, the girls sat and talked for hours, but soon, the evening RN came in, checked on their mother, and left.
Walking home, Audrey couldn't help but be frustrated, cancer was a bitch. She was grateful that her mother didn't seem to be in a lot of pain, that was a small miracle. Not really paying attention, Audrey rounded the corner, and ran straight into the back of SON. "Shit, sorry." Taking a step back, finding a very amused looking surfer.
Kozik felt himself surge forward, looking immediately behind him, he found the little blonde from the lot, her eyes big, and apologetic. "Don't worry about it, pretty girl." His eyes looking over her body, still wearing the same dress from earlier. "What are you doing out here?" curious about why she was walking around at night.
Looking at his deep blue eyes, "I walked to my sister's house. Now I'm making my way home." Taking a quick look around she realized that she was still about 3 miles from her home. "Speaking of, I need to be getting home." Taking step back, she made her way around him, but found him blocking her way. "Umm, excuse me?" she said, confused.
Staring down at her, smiling into her eyes, he watched the color go from a light blue to a deep blue. "I'll take you home, if you'd like."
Audrey just stared at him, "No thank you." Making another attempt to walk around him, she found him stepping in her way. "Look, biker guy. I'm not trying to be rude here, but I don't like this," waving her hands between them, "it's making me uncomfortable."
Holding his hands up, "Kozik."
Looking up at him, "What?"
Chuckling at her, "My name, is Kozik.
Giving him a polite nod, "OK, Kozik. You're making me uncomfortable; I would like to walk past you now." Hoping that he would move.
Standing his ground, he was enjoying watching her get flustered, but he could also see the fear in her eyes, she really was uncomfortable. "I'm sorry, that's not what I'm trying to do. It's just it's dark, and it's dangerous out here at night."
Biting her lip, "OK, I appreciate that," looking up the street she could see that there were some shady looking men, "Fine, but no funny business."
Giving her a smirk, "I wouldn't dream of it, I hear you're pretty wicked with a bat." Slinging his leg over the bike, he waited for her to get on. But as he looked over at her, "You never been on a bike?"
Feeling a little uneasy, she shook her head, "No, but I'm sure that I can figure it out." Carefully swinging her leg over the bike, she carefully tucked her dress under her legs, leaning forward; she wrapped her arms around his waist, quickly giving him the address, she closed her eyes when he darted forward.
He couldn't help but smile as she held tightly to him. It's been a long time since he let a woman ride bitch on his bike. It didn't take them long to get to her home, "You have arrived."
Getting up, she handed him the helmet. "Thank you." Looking over at him. She could see his interest in the home. "I'm fixing it up. I have a contractor working on it."
Nodding, "I guess I'll swing by when it's done." Chuckling at her face. "See you around pretty girl." With that he headed back to the clubhouse, it was time for a beer, and some sleep, perhaps his dreams are going to be filled with the little blonde that held him tightly on her way home.
Audrey watched him ride off, it was the most exhilarating thing she's done in a long time, but it could never happen again, bikers are dangerous, not just in their business lives, but in their personal ones as well. She didn't want to be taken a fool of, used until no longer interested. Walking the into the house, she made her way into the guest room, laying down, and closing her eyes. She would need to be more careful around the SON's, and probably do her best to avoid them.
