Never Again Ch. 2
Standing in line at the store, Audrey started going over the last couple of weeks trying to make sure that everything was on schedule. Her bathroom, bedroom was completed, so she was finally able to move her things into her room, the flooring through out the house was done, the guest rooms repainted, guest bathroom was finished, the roof was currently being worked on, the only thing that was needing to get finished was the kitchen.
Her mind was obviously elsewhere, because she didn't hear Gemma talking to her. Turning her head, she blinked a few times, "Oh, Mrs. Morrow, I'm sorry, I spaced out. What did you say?"
Gemma looked down at the young woman, "It's OK sweetheart, I was just asking how's everything going?" Giving her a knowing smile.
Blushing for being caught not paying attention, "Everything is OK, mom is in hospice, the renovations are almost complete." Looking over the woman, she could see that she was holding a toddler, "Oh, who's this adorable little man?" she asked.
Her face instantly softened, "This is Abel, he's, my grandson."
Taking in the boy, she could see the boy had a lot of Jax in him, "He's cute." Grinning like a fool when the little guy reached for her. Waving at him, "Hey little man."
Gemma could see that Abel wanted to go to her, handing him to her, she was stunned how he nuzzled his face into her neck. "I'll be damned, he's not shy, but he normally doesn't go to strangers." Not that Audrey was a complete stranger, but Abel never met her.
Gently rubbing his back, "Kids love me. Don't know why." Moving the cart forward, she carefully held the boy, and emptied her cart. Turning back to Gemma, "Is this, OK? I don't know how his mother would feel of me holding her kid?" It wasn't like she was going to do anything, but she wasn't sure how she would feel having some woman hold her kid, especially if I didn't know her.
Smirking down at the girl as she put her things on the belt, "Don't worry about it, his mother is a junkie whore, not in the picture."
Blinking at the woman, Gemma was never one to pull her punches, "Well, I guess it's good he has you." Smiling at the cashier as she handed her the debit card, "He's lucky." Standing aside, Audrey waited for Gemma to get done paying, and the 3 of them walked out of the store, opening her trunk, she carefully placed her bags in, and turned to see Gemma putting her bags in the back of her SUV. Rubbing the little man's back, "Time to go back to nana, little dude."
Holding her tighter, "NOOO." he yelled.
Blinking at Gemma, a little worried that she was going to end up pissing of the Queen of the bikers. "Can I make you a deal, little man?" hoping that he was willing to listen. Smiling when she found his blue eyes staring back at her, "You go with nana, and she'll call me, and we can play at the park sometime, sound good?"
Nodding his little head, "OK." Looking at his nana, "Park tomorrow?"
Gemma couldn't help but smile, "Of course baby." Reaching her hands over taking Abel from her hands, looking at the young woman, "Come to the shop tomorrow, 9am." Making sure that she conveyed that she wasn't going to lie to her grandson.
Nodding, "Of course, I'll see you tomorrow, Abel." She watched as Gemma packed him in the car and headed out of the parking lot. Jumping into her car, Audrey made her way back to her house, smiling when she saw that they were tossing out the cabinets from the kitchen.
Opening the garage, she put her groceries in the fridge that she had out there. Walking into her house, she could see that the kitchen was completely stripped. Good, she was ready to get this project over with, the stress of the constant noise, mess, and pretty much living off microwavable meals was getting to her.
Looking over at the crew, she could see that they were almost done clearing out the broken tiles, and pieces, it was a beautiful sight, "How's everything coming along?" she asked gently.
Looking up at her, the boss smiled, "Well Ms. Timmons, everything is ready to be installed tomorrow, so you should have your house back, and fully functional in 24 hours maybe 48 to make sure everything set's properly."
"That's wonder, I appreciate all your hard work." Seeing that they were finishing up to end their day, "I'll see you tomorrow morning."
"Yes ma'am." With that he grabbed the last bit of trash, and headed towards the front door, "I'm locking up Ms. Timmons." With that shutting the door.
Hearing the door shut, Audrey double checked, making sure that the house was locked up, one satisfied that she was locked in, she made a beeline straight for her bedroom, stripping down.
It didn't take a long time for the water to get nice and hot, stepping into the shower, she started the process to scrubbing her body, as she finished washing her hair, and giving herself a quick shave, she let her mind wander back to Mrs. Morrow, she was sure that woman could spit venom if she tried hard enough. Turning off the shower, she wrapped at a towel around herself, quickly drying off.
Lying in bed, her mind wouldn't stop thinking about the last year of her life, finding out mom had Stage 3 cancer, moving home, running into Jax, and the other SON's, now having a play date with a toddler because he decided that she was his friend. Smiling at the last thought, regardless of anything else, she wouldn't ever say no to sweet kid.
Kozik was sitting on the table outside near the ring, the shit with the White Power shit heads, was enough to set his teeth on edge, looking next to him, Bobby, Tig, Happy, and Chibs, all waiting for the call to come in from Jax and Clay, hoping to get the right intel, they were always a step behind these shit heads.
Looking up, he could see the deep blue Camaro roll into the lot, parking on the side. Instantly perking up, smiling when she stepped out, he could see that she was wearing a pair of tight jeans shorts that came up to her knees, a deep purple tank top, and a cute pair of sneakers. It surprised him how sexy she looked, and she wasn't even trying.
"Who is that?" Tig asked, damn near licking his lips.
Happy looked at her, she was hot, but she wasn't like the other girls that hung around the club, "I think her name's Audrey. She's the chick that tried to cave in Jax's face." It took him a minute to wrap his head around that, but once the VP said it was nothing to be concerned over, he let it go, as long as she didn't cross the line again, she was fine.
Bobby snorted, "I remember, girl had a mean swing." Looking at the men around the table, he could see his brothers wanting to fuck her. "What's she doing here?"
Kozik didn't know, looking around, no one really did. But it didn't take too long to figure out why, Abel came running out of the office, screaming for her. The guys watched in interest as Abel launched himself into her arms.
Wrapping up the boy in her arms, she picked him up and spun him around, "Hey dude. You ready to go to the park?" Her eyes finding a very amused Gemma, "Good morning, Mrs. Morrow."
Stepping out on the lot, "Gemma, you can call me Gemma."
Nodding, "Gemma. I can do that." Looking over at the table, seeing the men watch her, smiling at the sight of the surfer one, Kozik. "Do they always stare?" she asked.
Snorting, "Yes, you're new to the lot, hot, and now holding Abel, I'm sure it's breaking their small little minds." Indicating for her to follow. Smiling when she kept in step. Coming to a stop in front of the guys, "Audrey, you remember Kozik, Happy," pointing to the ones that she seen when she was here the first time, "This is Bobby, Tig, and Chibs. Guys this is Audrey."
Adjusting Abel on her hip, she gave them all a wave, "Hi." Laughing when Abel nuzzled deeper into her neck.
Kozik watched Abel damn near crawl into her, "Seems like Abel adores you; you must be a great babysitter to him."
Finding his eyes, "Would it surprise you, I just met him yesterday at the store with Gemma?"
Each one of the guys looked over at the Queen, seeing that she wasn't lying, Happy was surprised, Abel didn't go to strangers, "No, shit." Looking at the kid, "Is that true? You make a friend?"
Nodding his little head, "She's going to take me to the park." Holding her hair.
Chatting for a bit longer, Audrey looked at Gemma, "Are you coming too, or am I having an adventure with dude alone?" Wanting to get an idea exactly what she wanted.
Giving her a once over, tossing her the keys to her truck, "You can go, but take my car, so that you don't have to fight the car seat in that." The look of shock on the guy's faces was priceless.
Reaching into her pocket, she handed Gemma her keys, "In case you need to head out." Giving the guys a small wave, but as she took a step back, "Is he allergic to anything, or any medical issues I should know?"
Giving her a small hug, "No baby, he's good, have fun. See you later." With that she walked back into the shop, enjoying the look of shock on their faces. It was time for her to find someone that could possible be a good mother to the lot, Audrey, she had the makings of a hell of an old lady, just needed to make sure she ended up with her son, or another SON that she approved of.
Putting the man in the car seat, "Let's go!" Jumping into the front seat, Audrey waved to the guys watching her intently, and slowly drove off. First stop a little breakfast, then park, lunch, then back here for a nap.
Kozik watched her drive off in Gemma's Escalade, turning to the guys, he could see that they too were in a state of what the fuck just happened, looking at Tig, "Did that just happen?"
"Holy Shit, that was unreal. I guess she's Gemma approved." Turning his eyes back to his brothers, before they could get deeper into what was happening with the Queen and the newcomer, Jax called, telling them they were needed. Mounting up, they headed towards the rest of the club.
A couple hours later, they rolled back into the lot, Zobelle and his crew, were smarter than they first anticipated.
Clay was frustrated, they needed something on them, but there was no information that Juice could find, it was frustrating. Looking over at his Queen, he could see her sitting on the table, but Abel wasn't around, looking over at his son, he could see the same look. Both men made their way over to her, "Hey baby." Kissing her lips, "Where's my grandson?" he asked, Abel was never more than a few feet from Gemma when she was watching him.
Smiling up at her husband, "He's with Audrey." Smirking at Jax's face, "Ran into the girl yesterday, and seems like Abel made a friend." Looking at her watch, "She just texted me, she's on her way back. He's tired."
Jax was stunned, his mother wouldn't allow anyone to just take Abel, but Audrey could. "Really?" Surprised that Abel was OK with going with her.
Gemma could only nod, seeing her truck turn into the lot, "There she is." Getting of the bench, she made her way towards the woman who was stepping out, and opening the door, letting out a screaming toddler.
Audrey could barely hold onto the little guy, seeing that he was trying to run towards his father, she let him go, and watched him dash towards his family, shutting the door, she jogged after him.
Jax reached down and scooped up his son, "Hey, you have fun?" he asked his kid.
"YES! We had pancakes, climbed trees, and tacos!" he squealed out.
Handing Gemma his bag, "Don't forget about the ducks, and hanging upside down on the monkey bars." She added. Turning towards Clay, "Good to see you again, Mr. Morrow."
Taking in the young girl, she looked the same as she did when she was 16, but more filled out like a woman, "Clay. I see you're not here to beat Jax, that's good." He teased.
Blushing, "No sir." Looking at a smiling Jax, "I guess if you're going to be remembered, better for something cool." Cracking her neck, "He was good, ate his breakfast, and lunch, might need a bath, but he's ready for his nap." Pulling the keys out of her pocket, "Returned with no dings, or messes."
Gemma took the keys and handed hers back. "Thank you so much."
Nodding to her, "It was fun." Touching a sleepy Abel, "You be good for your daddy." Looking at everyone, "Need to head to my mom's. See you around little dude." Giving them a wave, she jogged towards her car, making her way off the lot, it was time to see her mom.
Jax watched as she left, it was strange, the last time she saw him she was about to kill him, now she was watching his kid. Huh. Strange girl.
Kozik watched the interactions, it didn't surprise him that Gemma was trying to fix Jax up with anyone that wasn't some club whore, but dude still wanted his ex that tore out his heart at 17. He would never be a good old man to anyone. Tossing his cig on the floor, he headed inside to wash up, but after he was going to head to the diner, wanted to get away from the noise, at least for a little while.
Kissing her mother's forehead, she could see that she was out of it, before she came here, she bought some new flowers, wanting to make sure that if her mom was awake, the only thing that she would see were beautiful flowers. Putting down the book that she was reading to her, "I'll be back tomorrow," a tear sliding down her face, "I love you." Heading out of the facility, it was depressing, but an unfortunate part of life.
Stopping in the diner, Audrey just needed to decompress, looking around, she was half debating to sit up at the countertop, but hearing her name, she turned to find surfer biker waving at her. Seeing that he was indicating for her to sit down, shrugging her shoulders, figured better to share a meal with someone than alone. Sliding into the booth across from him, "Hey, Kozik, right?" she asked.
Seeing her walk in was like a sign from someone above, "Yeah, how are you doing pretty girl?" he asked her.
Giving him a small smile, "Could be better, just came back from seeing my mom, she's in hospice." Looking at the waitress, "Water, with lemon please," here eyes finding his, "Did you order, or still needing to?"
"I'm ready if you are." Seeing her nod, "Cheeseburger, everything, fries." Looking Audrey, seeing her smile.
"Same, please." Handing the server, the menu. Her eyes finding his watch her. "What?" she asked.
"Nothing, I'm sorry about your mom. Are you close?" he asked, curious about the woman in front of him.
Shaking her head, "Not as close as we should be, but everyone has some kind of family drama. And thank you." Looking at the patches on his vest, "So, Sgt. at Arms, what does that mean?"
Leaning forward, he knew that most people would be curious about his patches, giving her a big smile, "Mean's I protect my brothers." Hoping that she would drop it.
Reading between the lines, "Ah. Lucky them." Tucking a strand of her hair behind her ears.
"Are you with Jax?" figured that getting it out of the way, he wouldn't go where another brother dipped his dick, especially Jax.
Choking on the water, Audrey had to wipe her mouth, "No. Not even a little bit." Looking at him, she could see that it was common, woman constantly tossing themselves at them, so in their minds, if a woman is being nice, she wants to fuck. "He has history with my sister, that would be gross." While they shared toys as kids, sharing boys, no thank you.
Hearing that made him feel a bit better, perhaps she could be his. "No boyfriend?"
Rolling her eyes, "Not currently. No." Taking a drink, "What about you, old lady? Right, that's what you call your ladies." She asked him.
Laughing at her face, he could appreciate her curious nature, "No, no old lady."
The waitress put down their food, but winked at Kozik, blatantly flirting with him in front of her. His eyes found Audrey watching him, but as he looked into them, he didn't see anything but amusement. "What's so funny, pretty girl?"
Biting her burger, after she swallowed, "Must be so difficult, having woman throw themselves at you." Thinking about it, no wonder they have a warped sense of woman, they didn't have to actually work at it.
Shrugging his shoulders, "At first, it's amazing, but not so much anymore."
Eyeing him, she could understand that, if you don't have to work for something, it doesn't mean much after a while. "I can imagine." Wiping her hands, "Do you like being a SON?" curious about what would drive someone to this life.
Popping a fry in his mouth, "Yes. After the Marines, I needed something, went home, found the Tacoma charter, and it was love at first ride." This was the first time in years that he actually had a conversation with a woman, she wasn't throwing herself at him, hell, she wasn't even flirting with him, but she was talking with him, treating him just like a person. "What made you leave Charming?"
"I wanted to see things, I love it here, it's a great little town, but I wanted to see outside the city limits. I ended up in North Carolina for college, stayed worked, started building a life for myself, but then mom got sick, so, figured it's been long enough, it's time to come home. Put down my own roots. Why I bought the house."
The pair chatted for another hour, but it was time for them to part, as he put cash down on the table, he walked her to her car, "Go out with me pretty girl."
Blinking at him, "As a date?" curious, she didn't think they dated. She had a lot of questions and needed a lot of clarification.
Tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear, "Yeah, like a date. Tomorrow night, I'll come by pick you up. Take you somewhere nice." Hoping that he read this situation well.
What the hell, it was a date. "That sounds nice."
Opening her door, "See you tomorrow 7." Leaning down, he kissed her cheek, "Goodnight pretty girl." Carefully shutting the door, he watched her drive off, he couldn't keep the stupid grin off his face.
Jumping on his bike, he made his way to the clubhouse, walking past the whores, and making a straight line towards his dorm, as he locked the door, he realized that since he saw her, his dick hasn't touched one of those bitches. Crawling into bed, his last thought was of her big blue eyes sparkling with curiosity. He would do what he could to convince her to be his, and he knew he needed to claim her in front of the club, and soon.
