Katsuki sat in an alley covered in scrapes and cuts and bruises after his mother beat him senseless as he scrambled to pack his belongings and leave the house for good.

'Damn Deku! If you hadn't died this wouldn't have happened! Idiot!' Katsuki thought as he ate what few scraps of food he could find in the garbage angrily. Then he heard the rustling of plants from around the dumpster and peaked out to see what was going on. And what he saw terrified him. Vines and roots sprouted and twisted themselves from the pavement on their own and slowly formed the shape of a man with moss for hair. Suddenly the plant man opened its red eyes and looked around before settling on Bakugo before saying, "found you." Bakugo got up quickly and began to run from the creature but it was faster as it ensnared him in vines suspending him in the air facing the creature. Bakugo tried using is quirk to get himself loose but each time a new vine sprouted where the old one disintegrated keeping him trapped.

"L-let me go freak!!" Bakugo said trying to sound tough but was slowly becoming more and more afraid. The creature shook its head before saying, "No, you deserve to be punished for killing me, Kaachan." This caused the boy to look at the creature wide eyed.

"I-Izuku?! No y-you're dead!! Y-you can't be alive right after that accident!!! This is a trick!!" Bakugo said shocked

"This is no trick Kaachan, here I stand before you not the Deku you knew but an embodiment of the Green. And for your crimes against the life of myself and the plants that you destroyed in my lab you will face judgment." Izuku said coldly.

"You and your damn plants!!! You were always worthless Deku!! And you are even now in death!! I'll just use my quirk and destroy every fiber of that stupid vine body of yours until there's nothing le-AAAAAHHHH!!!!" Bakugo screamed as thorns grew from the vines drawing blood.

"You won't be able to do anything if I rip your limbs off. Say goodbye Kaachan." Izuku said before commanding the vines to pull.

"W-Wait please!!! Don't kill me Izuku!! I-I'm sorry for everything!!! Please for the love of God!!! Stop!!!! Think of auntie!!!! Think of your mom!!!!!!" Bakugo begged crying for his former friend to spare him. At the mention of his mother Izuku stopped what he was doing and had flash backs to every moment with his mother before hearing her voice saying "I love you my little Izuku" before he shook his head and blinked. Bakugo could only look at his former friend afraid for his life with tears gushing down his face. Slowly the vines lowered Bakugo before releasing him with Izuku saying, "In the memory of my mother you will be spared this time. If you ever attack anyone that isn't a villain or any part of the Green I will be back to finish what I started. Am I understood?" Bakugo quickly nodded saying, "O-of course De-I mean Izuku! No harm to anyone other than villains and no harm to plants! Got it!"

At this Izuku nodded and began to sink below the pavement but as he did he said "My name isn't Izuku anymore. Call me...Swamp Thing." Before disappearing to find his mother.

At the Midoria apartment a few hours later

Inko sat on her sons old bed looking at a photo album between her hands softly crying. In the photo album were pictures of her and Izuku over the years and various momentos from his life such as old hair clippings from his first haircut and so on. As she sat there a few tears dropped onto the photos before she said, "I'm so sorry Izuku..my baby boy." Then she closed the book and quietly sobbed before calming down and looking at the slowly dying bonsai tree at the window sill. Suddenly leaves began to grow on the plant and a few flowers bloomed despite it being dark out. Inko could only gasp as slowly the plant grew and blossomed before slowly vines sprouted from the tree and arching over the bed to the floor of the bedroom before turning and twisting into the form of a man with moss like hair. Inko was slightly terrified of the thing before her and had dropped the album from her hands but also intrigued as the creature before her seemed familiar. Then the creature opened its eyes and smiled before saying, "hi mom."

"I-Izuku? Is-is that really you?!" Inko asked shakily before the creature smiled bigger and nodded. Inko suddenly jumped up and ran and hugged her son before sobbing loudly. Izuku could only hug his mother back and hold her as she cried. Slowly her tears subsided and she broke away from the hug and asked, "How is this possible? The police never found your body!"

"It was a combination of my formula and the will of the Parliament of Trees" Izuku explained.

"The Parliament of Trees?" Inko asked.

"The Parliament of Trees are one of the many forces of nature residing in all life on earth, specifically plant life. They chose me to be their guardian because of my kind nature and love of plants." Izuku explained. Inko slowly absorbed this information before smiling and saying, "well I always figured you were destined for something to do with plants I just never expected this! I'm so glad you're alive sweetie but why do you look like this?" She asked.

"Bakugo and his lackeys destroyed my lab and my research causing the explosion and my death. My formula combined with Bakugo's quirk set me on fire and I tried to save myself by jumping into the swamp but due to the severity of my injuries my body disintegrated until there was only my bones which the Parliament used their abilities to construct a body for me and being me back" Izuku said. Inko nodded in understanding and then there was silence. It took a few moments before Inko spoke again and asked, "is Katsuki-?"

"He's fine but living on the streets. I attempted to get revenge on him for what he did but once he mentioned you, I let him go, as long as he promised to not harm anyone else or any plant life or I would come back and finish what I started." Izuku said

"Good that boy needed a wake up call anyway for his behavior." Inko said before there was silence again. After a while Inko asked, "what will you do now? Do you still plan to go to U.A.?" Izuku sat in thought for a moment before replying, "I guess so though it will be hard to explain my revival from the dead and how I am now."

"What if we tell people you developed your quirk after the accident and had to hide in the swamp to heal your injuries?" Inko said. Izuku thought about it and then nodded, "that's a good idea thanks mom!"

Inko nodded smiling before getting up and saying, "well I better get some rest for work tomorrow. I'm glad you're home. Goodnight Izuku."

"Goodnight mom." Izuku said before lying back in his bed and closing his eyes. Inko smiled as she kissed her son on the cheek and walked out of the room closing the door behind her quietly.
