Disclaimer: I don't own Cold Case or Law & Order SVU.

Although this fic can technically be classified as a crossover, it is primarily set in the SVU verse. All you need to know to follow along is who the characters from Cold Case are, or not even that.

Dead by Sunrise:

It was the start of August and everyone at the sixteenth precinct knew things were about to get crazy. Kids were all coming back from camp, or summer school, and that meant sex allegations were about to go through the roof. It was a Wednesday, and only Captain Donald Cragen and Detective Amanda Rollins were at the precinct. The other detectives were out interviewing witnesses or tracking down suspects.

Detective Rollins was at her desk catching up on her reports when she was interrupted by an officer coming in, followed by a young woman. "Excuse me, detective, but I have a woman here who says she really needs to speak with a detective," he said.

Rollins looked up from her paperwork, glancing from the officer to an anxious-looking Hispanic woman. Standing up, she arched a blonde eyebrow up and motioned for the officer to come closer. "Okay, did she say what for?" she said.

The officer shook his head. "No, she just says that it's an emergency and that she really needs to speak with a detective. Judging from how distraught she looks, I figured it was best to bring her to you," he said.

Rollins nodded in understanding. "You did good, officer," she said before turning to the woman standing off to the side. "Why don't you follow me Mrs," she said, gesturing for the woman to follow her back to her desk.

Taking out a blank report sheet, Rollins looked at the woman. "Can I get your name please?" she asked.

The woman nodded. "Valeria Sanchez," she said.

Rollins smiled up at the woman before writing her name. "Alright, Valeria, what can I do for you?" she asked.

Valeria frowned, and her dark brown eyes were full of anxiety. "Actually, detective, I'm here to warn you," she said, her voice full of concern.

Amanda leaned back and looked at the woman sharply, silently wondering what Valeria could need to warn her about. "Okay, what do you need to warn me about?" she said.

Valeria's eyes turned fearful as she pulled a picture out of her purse; she placed a photo of a man in front of Rollins and pointed. "Him, he's a monster detective, and he's here in New York," she said.

Amanda blinked, surprised by the woman's response. Looking at the picture Valeria had placed down, she was stunned to realize it was a mugshot of a middle-aged man of Hispanic descent. What surprised her further, however, was that the sign the man was holding was in Spanish. she suddenly wished her partner Scotty was here so he could read it. "I take it this man is after you?" she asked.

Valeria smiled at Rollins bitterly and shook her head. "Oh no, I'm too old for him now," she said.

Rollins tensed, not liking the way Valeria said that. "What do you mean by too old?" she asked.

Valeria pointed angrily at the photo. "That man murdered my little sister and countless other little girls. All of them were between the ages of three and twelve years old," she said.

Amanda's blue eyes widened in surprise, and she pointed a finger at the man. "Here in the United States?" she said.

Valeria shook her head. "No, not here, back in my home country of Columbia," she said.

Rollins scrunched her eyebrows up in confusion. "Well, if what you're saying is true, then why isn't he locked up back in Columbia?" she asked.

Valeria laughed bitterly. "I see you don't know, detective, but unlike here where life is life, in Columbia, you can only serve sixteen years in prison. It doesn't matter how awful the crime is," she said.

Rollins stared at her, stunned for a moment before her eyes took on a stern expression. "What's his name?" she asked.

Valeria looked at the mugshot in hatred as she answered. "Dario Pedro Perez, and he's the Devil," she said.

Amanda looked at her in sympathy. "I'm sorry Valeria, but we arrest him even if he's a convicted felon if he hasn't done anything," she said.

Valeria stood up. "I know, detective, but I thought you should at least know you have a monster running free in your city, and that as long as he's walking free, no little girl is safe," she said.

Rollins stood up. She felt bad for the woman and was touched that she had at least warned them. "I tell you what Valeria will check him out," she said.

Valeria nodded. "Please do," she said, and then left, leaving a stunned Rollins behind.
