"Again Roronoa?" The English teacher wasn't even surprised at this point. "No Monkey today?" he asked looking for the other trouble maker that always seemed to be in here as well.

"Nah, I got you all to myself today."

"Lucky me," Sanji mumbled. The teacher sat on the edge of his desk, "I'm starting to think that you like getting detention."

The senior smirked, "I do."

That made the English teacher raise an eyebrow, "Freshman year you used to be so well behaved and got good grades, what happened?"

"You taught English" Zoro says, that smirk still plastered on his face.

"So it's somehow my fault you turned into a delinquent?"

Zoro bit at the piercing in his lower lip, licking at it playfully, "Yeah, and you should take responsibility."

Sanji crossed his legs, he really wished he could smoke about now, "And how is it my fault? What did I do that was so bad your Freshman year?"

"You made me fall for you, and then only taught freshmen."

Oh. So that's what this is. Sanji sighed looking at the student wearing all black, ripped jeans, three piercings in one of his ears, lip and septum piercings, studded leather bracelet and green hair… Sanji supposed the style would probably be classified under punk.

"It's not uncommon for students to get little crushes on teachers. Taboo but normal, just shows how you're developing into a young man."

Zoro scowled at him, "It's not a little crush."

Sanji waved a dismissive hand, oh the joys of youth. "No, of course not. Once you hit college though, a lot of things will come into perspective for you."

Zoro stood up and crossed the classroom until he was standing in front of Sanji, "I'll be graduating this year."

"If your grades are still high enough. With this behavior I worry." Sanji cut in.

"Take responsibility," Zoro repeated.

"I already have to deal with you everyday here in detention. What else do you want from me?"

"Everything." The teen leaned in and kissed the startled teacher before he could respond.

Sanji pushed him back, face bright red, "You're a student! Are you trying to get me arrested or put on some damn list!?"

Zoro glared at him, "I want you."

"Yeah? Well I don't want to lose my job or get jail time!"

Zoro was smirking again, "You didn't say you didn't want me."

"I never said I wanted you either, you little dumbass!"

Zoro crossed his arms, a smug look on his face, "Then look me in the eye's and tell me you don't want me as bad as I want you."

Sanji sighed, "Even if I looked you in the eye and said that, would you believe me?"

"Nope"

This is one of those times that he really hated being a teacher. "Look, date someone your own age."

"I just turned eighteen, and you're about twenty-six right? That's only a few years."

Sanji scoffed, "I'm twenty-five actually, and seven years is still a large age gap."

The senior looked no less determined, "You can't hide behind us being student and teacher forever. I'm graduating soon and seven years is nothing curly-cue"

"Hey" Sanji stood up, "That is no way to address your teacher!" He tried to level a glare down at Zoro but Zoro was actually really tall, not quite as tall as him but close.

"Fine between lovers though, right? Don't worry teach, I find it kinda sexy"

Sanji was blushing bright red, "Go back to your seat!"

Zoro leaned in to steal another kiss but Sanji blocked it with his hand. Zoro smirked, not deterred in the slightest and waltzed back to his desk.

The rest of detention was uneventful, just Zoro finishing up some homework and Sanji keeping an eye on him like the teen was an unpredictable animal.

When detention was over Zoro threw a crumpled piece of paper at Sanji as he left for the day. Sanji grumbled, at least it was better than the student trying to come onto him again.

He hated wasting paper so he unfolded it, thinking he could use it as scrap paper. When he saw it was a phone number with the words "Call me when you get that stick out of your ass, I have something much better to put up there" he crumpled it back up and threw it in the trash.

"God," Sanji groaned, "I need to smoke."

He went to the designated smoking area on campus for teachers and lit a cigarette, after he calmed down a bit he pulled out his phone, finding the principal's number easily.

"Hello my beautiful swan~ I hate to bother a beautiful woman such as yourself but I have a favor to ask~"

He could hear Nami sigh on the other end of the line, "I'll fire you if I find out you're talking to any other woman at this school like that."

"I would never, my beautiful rose. Some personal matters came up and I was hoping you would allow me to pass on detention duty to someone else until the end of the school year."

"Oh, there is only two months left. Sure thing Sanji, I think Robin has been looking for some extra hours."

The thought of Robin being stuck with Zoro made him a bit uneasy, "Are you sure such a fine woman should be subjected to that."

"She'll be fine." Nami laughed.

The next day when Zoro passed Sanji in the hall, the teen smirked at him, "See you in detention curly."

Sanji felt like a weight was lifted off his shoulders, yet oddly nervous at the same time. "Don't bet on it."

That night his nervousness increased as he made himself dinner, he couldn't help but wonder how detention went.

Zoro didn't say anything to him when they crossed paths in the hall the next day.

Two weeks had passed and every time Zoro saw Sanji in the hall he started to look more and more upset. It started to make Sanji worried that the young teen was going to make a scene so he started purposefully taking a different route just to avoid his path.

The end of the year was fast approaching just another month and a half. He was at his desk sorting through papers when there was a knock on his door.

"Come in" he said absentmindedly going over last minute assignments.

"You're a coward, and a shitty teacher."

Sanji begrudgingly looked up at the glaring teen in front of his desk, "Good afternoon to you too Roronoa."

"Avoiding me is not going to make me go away."

Sanji sighed, "Well it was with a try. Look, I'm not trying to make little of your feelings but kids fall in love every other week."

"What about you?"

Sanji met the green haired punk's eyes, "What about me?"

"You're an adult right? You don't fall in love every other week?"

"Obviously not" Sanji wasn't sure where Zoro was going with this, "As you age you fall in love less and less."

That smug look was back on the teens face, "So I'll take responsibility as well." Zoro leaned across Sanji's desk making the English teacher almost fall backwards in his chair. Zoro's hand gripped Sanji's black tie and pulled the man attached to it towards him. "We both want this."

Sanji smacked away Zoro's hand and stood up so fast his chair slammed into the wall behind him. "Get out of my office, right now!" Sanji pointed to the door. "Unless you want to be expelled and never graduate!"

"I hate you," Zoro seethed.

"Good! Now leave!"

The teen flipped him off, and walked to the door. He looked like he was about to say something else but shook his head and walked out.

Sanji rearranged himself, and gathered back his composure. Damn kids.

That last few months of the school year sped by at an alarming rate. It was already graduation and he hadn't heard from Zoro again. On the rare occasion they walked by one another Zoro completely ignored him. Despite this being what Sanji had wanted, it still hurt. Kids really did just rebound so quickly, and their concept of love was so fickle.

He couldn't help that he was an easily moved man, and the romance novels he always read gave him hopes that could never match reality.

There was a part of him that had hoped the teens' emotions were genuine. That Zoro would come back after graduation for him. He knew it wouldn't happen though, and when months had passed after graduation and the teen never returned it was no surprise.

Kids are kinda the worst.

….

Two years had passed and he had never heard from the green haired ex-student again. It was the start of a new year, and another assembly the teachers had to attend before the students arrived again after summer break.

"Hello everyone, I'm glad to see you all here again. We have some new staff this year and I expect everyone to make them feel comfortable." Nami smiled into the group of staff. "We have some renovations we are doing this year, such as expanding the campus. This will help bring in more students and funding. Funding is very important."

The assembly continued on as usual and by the end Sanji's butt hurt from sitting in the less than comfortable seats of the auditorium.

He started to leave, making a quick escape. It's not that he didn't like the other teachers, but he still had a never ending list of things to prepare for the new year.

"Hey, shit teacher."

Sanji stopped dead in his tracks, and turned to face the man behind him. While Zoro had been a teen the last time he saw him, the person standing in front of him now was definitely a man.

Zoro no longer wore all black, instead he dressed casually. All of his piercings were gone except for the three earrings dangling from his ear. Over his left eye there was a giant scar that rendered it useless. His hair was still the same though, short, messy, spikey, and green.

"Is that you, Roronoa?"

The man smirked, it was so familiar, "That's Mr. Roronoa to you."

Sanji couldn't help but smile, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm the new P.E. teacher."

That seemed fitting, Jesus, Zoro had put on even more muscles. He looked like he could be on the front cover of a fitness magazine.

"I suppose I'll be seeing you around then."

The man in front of him crossed his arms, making the shirt he was wearing stretch tightly to contain all those muscles. "I've been counting on it." Sanji felt his throat go dry, that almost sounded like… "If you keep staring at me like that, it may count as sexual harassment." That cocky smirk looked so good on that chiseled and defined face.

Sanji swallowed thickly, and looked away. He loosened the tie around his neck, suddenly feeling like it was far too tight.

He heard Zoro chuckle, the deep reverberation doing things to him that he would never admit. How did Zoro manage to change so much in just two years?

"Hey curly, you changed the direction you part your bangs."

"Oh, yeah… I guess I did." Sanji reached up to touch them. Suddenly feeling self-conscious for some reason.

"Looks good" That damn sexy smirk was back on Zoro's face. Zoro turned and waved over his shoulder, "See you around shit-teacher"

Sanji watched him walk away and tried to compose himself again. What the hell just happened?

….

It was a few days later when he was taking his lunch break in the teachers lounge when Zoro walked up with a bunch of food. It wasn't uncommon for them to have lunch at the same time.

Sanji eyed the food, "A lot of food, but not very balanced." Sanji commented off handedly.

Zoro shrugged, "Students keep giving me stuff."

"Students huh?" Sanji took a closer look at what he had been given and smiled teasingly, "Be careful or one of them may end up falling for you." Student crushes on teachers were very common after all, and Sanji could admit Zoro was very attractive. Accepting lunches could be seen as accepting their love to an emotional teen.

Sanji's smile dropped when he saw the serious gaze of the PE Teacher. Sanji tried to ignore it and kept eating but it felt like Zoro's eyes were burning their way into his very being.

When he looked back to the other teacher, Zoro was still staring at him, his eyes fierce and jaw set. "What!?" Sanji snapped, not appreciating the intense staring.

"You're still a coward."

They ate in awkward silence after that.

Sanji's mind was racing over their interaction, but since it was the teachers lounge they didn't have much time alone. The history teacher Ms. Nico joined them at their table.

"A bunch of us teachers are meeting up tonight, can we count you two in?" She daintily places a few strands of raven colored hair behind her ear.

"I would love to be anywhere you are~" Sanji swooned.

Zoro made a face, but Robin ran a hand gently down the PE teacher's arm, "I would like you to come as well, Mr Physical Education."

It felt like a rock sank to the bottom of Sanji's stomach. Robin was hitting on Zoro! He stabbed angrily into his grilled chicken, looking off to the side as he ate.

"Can I say no?"

Robin chuckled, "It's ill advised."

Zoro groaned, "I'll be there."

The PE teacher left first, and while Sanji was packing up his things Robin spoke up. "He's extremely attractive, wouldn't you say?"

Sanji decided to skirt around the question. "We both taught him two years ago. Wouldn't people find it odd hearing you say that?"

"He's not a student anymore" she smiled devilishly, "Staff is allowed to date other staff. One would be a fool to let someone like Mr. Roronoa get stolen away."

Sanji smiled, "I'll see you tonight." He bid farewell and was on his way.

That night approached in what felt like a flash as all the teachers met at a nice small bar/diner called Shaky's.

Even though he wasn't late a few teachers had already arrived, including Robin and Zoro who were already at the bar talking to each other. Sanji felt his gut twist unpleasantly and sat off by himself. He couldn't help but keep staring off at the two, until Robin leaned in to whisper something in Zoro's ear. He watched as Zoro's face went crimson, her slender hand laying on the other man's knee.

Without thinking Sanji approached them. "Evening" he greeted, "Would you mind some company?"

"Not at all" Robin removed her hand from Zoro's knee and stood up, "I'm actually needed elsewhere although I'll still be around."

Robin got up from her seat and Sanji took her place next to the PE teacher instead.

"Finally finished with staring at me?"

"I wasn't staring!" Sanji glared at the other man who looked far too happy with himself. Shaky walked up, and Sanji placed his drink.

When his scotch on the rocks came back the English teacher probably drank it faster than he should have, but luckily Shaky was still nearby to refill his drink.

He hated to admit it but he was a lightweight, and already felt tipsy. He glared at Zoro who already had a couple of beers and seemed perfectly sober.

He felt so angry, and tried to talk without letting it show, but even he could hear how obvious his anger was. "So did you like Robin when you were a student too, or is that a new development?"

Zoro looked at Sanji with that damn cocky look again, and Sanji felt his anger double. "I'm not interested in her."

"Well, why not? She's obviously enamored with you!"

"She's already dating the Drivers Ed teacher."

"Franky!?"

Zoro nodded.

"Well you better back off. He's a good guy, if not a little strange. He's big though, and could probably take you in a fight."

"I'm not interested in her." Zoro repeated himself.

"Bullshit!" When had Sanji finished his second scotch? He frowned down at the empty cup.

"Why do you care so much?"

"Because I'm not like you! I don't easily fall in and out of love! You are the worst, you go on and on about loving someone, but guess what, I was right! You never even came back to see me after you graduated, after all that talk!"

"What do you call this, idiot? Sure as hell seems like I came back, doesn't it?"

"Just for work!"

"Hey curly, why does this bother you so much? Could it be because you still love me?"

"I never admitted to loving you! You… moss-headed asshole!"

Zoro laughed, and honestly Sanji hated how much he loved that deep joyful sound. "I already told you, didn't I, two years ago?" Zoro grabbed onto Sanji's tie and pulled him close, "I'll take responsibility."

Sanji's heart clenched, and he allowed himself to do what he had wanted to do two years ago, and captured Zoro's lips with his own.

A large hand cupped Sanji's cheek, and the thumb rubbed effectively at his goatee.

After they separated for air Sanji looked into the other man's good eye, "I want to take responsibility too."

Zoro smiled, pulling the other man into his lap, "I wouldn't ever allow you not to. You ruined me, you shit-teacher."
