This is loosely based on a Pokemon fan comic between Leon and Sonia and it was really cute. So for the last day of ShuAnn Week; I'm gonna try it with them! (I'll let you decide if this is in canon or a no-powers universe, since it could go either way.)
Begin!
~Normal POV
It was a simple question. Easy, albeit unexpected. Akira stared at Ann with a raised brow. The two had been hanging out in Inokashira Park today. Talking of anything that came to mind and enjoying each other's company. But just now Ann had asked him a question that was so far out of nowhere he was momentarily stunned.
"Hey, Akira? Have you ever kissed anyone?"
She had asked it so simply. So casually. As if it wasn't a big deal. After getting over this brief shock, he replied. "Not yet… I've never had a girlfriend so…"
"Oh, I see…"
"Why do you ask?"
Ann shrugged. "It just kinda popped into my head." She giggled a bit. "I don't know; I was just curious."
There was a pause before Akira asked. "...Well?"
"Well what?"
"Aren't you going to answer it?" He added, smirking a little.
Ann turned pink. "Oh, ehehe… No, I haven't either. There have been, um… interested guys, but they were all… only into me for my looks." She frowned a tiny bit. "A first kiss is supposed to be special. I don't want to waste it on some jerk and regret it forever…"
"Ah… I kinda have that feeling too."
Akira put a hand to his chin in thought. Within moments, he had an idea. An idea that gave him a nervous feeling in his stomach, but he couldn't stop himself from saying it aloud.
"What if we did?"
Ann turned to him, cocking her head slightly in confusion. "Did what?"
"What if we were each other's first kiss?" Akira explained in a logical tone. "That way, you wouldn't have to worry about wasting it on some asshole who only wanted to get in your pants."
"Kiss… you?" Ann said, quizzically.
She had to admit, his idea wasn't that outlandish. Sure, they weren't dating, but that didn't mean they couldn't do it, right? It was just one kiss. There was no law saying people could only kiss if they were a couple. And he was right, it wouldn't be wasted on him. Akira was very sweet to her. He'd never do something to take advantage of anyone, least of all a lady. And the moment would be perfect for such a thing too. They were alone, with none of their friends around to tease them for it. It could be their little secret. (Well, aside from the fact that Shiho was likely to ask for such information at some point. But Ann decided she'd cross that bridge when she got there.)
"Ok!" She said, smiling brightly. "Sure, we can do that!"
Akira felt his heart leap at her approval and smiled. "Alright; so we can do it right now?"
"Mhmm!"
Though right as Ann said it, she felt her face get very hot. The reality of what they were about to do finally sunk in. Why was she suddenly getting nervous? It's just Akira! Her good friend! A boy she trusted… and a boy she was about to kiss… She was having trouble looking at him now as her nerves were starting to get the best of her. Her heart was pounding. For whatever reason he looked even more attractive today… Why didn't she notice it before?
What she didn't know was that Akira was having a similar internal struggle. That feeling in his stomach would not go away. His heart was beating loudly. And his head was spinning with possibilities for all the ways this could go wrong. What if it turned out he was a bad kisser and ruined it for her? It'd completely botch the whole point. What if someone they knew walked by at the wrong time and thought they were dating? It had been his idea but… he didn't want to embarrass her like that. Plus, they'd never hear the end of it if one of their friends caught them. (Especially from Ryuji, he'd revel in the chance to tease them.)
The two tried to put aside their worries and moved a bit closer to each other on their bench. They just agreed to it; so backing out now would be dumb. Not to mention it would hurt to have someone try to back out of kissing you, after all, no matter the reason. Besides, how hard could one kiss be? Ann had seen it done loads of times in her favorite movies and shows, and Akira had read more than one novel that involved such moments. It was going to be easy… or it would be if they weren't both so nervous.
"Sh-Should I… close my eyes?" Ann asked, quietly.
"If you want to…" Akira answered.
She nodded and closed her eyes. Akira hesitated for a moment as he stared at her. She looked even more beautiful than usual today… She was already breathtaking, but something about her looked different now. He couldn't place it… He gulped, trying to silence the frantic beating of his heart as he moved closer to her face.
When their lips met, the two froze at the unfamiliar contact. But they quickly relaxed into it. After a few moments of bliss, they pulled away and opened their eyes. The two were silent for a while, just staring at each other as the situation registered in their heads.
"Did we just… Oh no…"
Both turning bright red they quickly looked away from each other, and moved a bit further apart in their positions. Ann was fiddling with her with one hand while trying to hide her blush with her other.
Akira cleared his throat, pushing his glasses up his nose and trying to regain his lost composure. "S-So… how was it…?"
Ann squeaked at the sudden question and replied quickly, in a higher voice than normal. "It was… nice…!"
They were too flustered to say another word after that. All they could think about was replaying that kiss over and over in their heads. But one thing the two teens knew for sure was that they didn't regret their decision. Not one bit. In fact, they really wanted to do it again. But confessing those feelings would have to wait until they were truly ready. For now, this moment was strictly between them.
Needless to say, it confused the hell out of their friends as to why Akira and Ann were quite unable to look each other in the eye when they all met up for dinner together that evening.
