Sunday, August 22nd

Ash's mother, Delia, talks to Ash about him beginning high school.

Delia: Ash, your grades are as important as ever in high school. Your grades determine if you will graduate or not. Your grades in the past have been great, all A's and B's. Just try your best, alright.

Ash: Don't worry mom, I'll do alright.

Delia: Good boy. Now go to bed to get some rest.

Ash: I will, goodnight mom. Love you.

Delia: Love you too, son. Oh, one more thing.

Ash: What is it?

Delia: Don't let your breakup with Misty get in the way, alright.

Ash: I won't, don't worry. Goodnight.

The next morning, Monday, August 23rd.

Ash: Alright, I'm taking off for school. See you tonight, Mom.

Delia: Same here, have a good day at school. Drew already took off.

Ash: I know, besides the school is only a few blocks from here. Love you, mom.

Delia: Love you too, son.

A few minutes later at the school.

Ash: Alright, here we go.

All of a sudden, Ash gets Gibbs slapped by somebody behind him.

Gary: Hey, Ash. Nervous are you?

Ash: One, you didn't need to do that. Two, no I'm not.

Gary: I'm just giving you crap. Besides, even if you were nervous, I can't say anything, as I'm nervous myself.

Ash: How come.

Gary: It's a new school, that sort of stuff.

Ash: Oh. Well, we'll do fine. Hey, where are the others.

Gary: That's what I was wondering too.

Ash: Here they come now.

Clemont: Hey, Ash. How's it been.

Ash: Alright, how about you.

Clemont: Alright, even though my inventions have exploded as usual.

Gary: They'll get better, I promise.

Clemont: Every time you say that, they get worse.

Ash: He's got a point, Gary.

Gary: Well, I'm beat.

Dawn: Hey guys. How was summer?

Gary, Ash, Clemont: Good.

Dawn: That's good to hear. Mine was good for the most part.

Clemont: What about the other part?

Dawn: My grandfather died, but he had late-stage cancer, so we saw it coming. And he was 87, so he wasn't afraid to go.

Ash: Well, I'm sorry to hear that.

Dawn: Ehh, it's alright. Besides, after a month I kind of put it in the back of my head.

Gary: Well, it's good to hear that you're not dwelling on it.

Later, Ash's other friends, May, Brock, Tracey, Iris and Cilan and Ash's brother, Drew show up and talk about their summer as they head into the school. They get their schedules and head to class.

Meanwhile, outside with 15 minutes until 1st period.

?: Okay, let's do this.

?: Are you alright?

?: Yeah, I'm fine.

?: Are you new as well?

?: Yeah, I am. I'm Serena.

?: Nice to meet you Serena. I'm Misty.

Serena: Well, let's find our classes.

Misty: Yeah, let's.

(In Misty's mind): I know Ash goes to this school. I need to talk to him to tell him what really happened.

(Flashback to the night before Misty broke up with Ash)

Misty's father: You're breaking up with Ash.

Misty: Why Jack.

Jack: Because I don't like him.

Misty: It's my life and it's my relationship.

Daisy: She's got a point, Dad.

Jack: Daisy, stay out of this.

Daisy: No.

Misty: I asked her to help me.

Jack: Misty, I am your father, and you will do what I say, You two can stay friends, but he can't be in a relationship.

Misty: Is this because of what he said to you last night?

Jack: What, that I'm short? No, although it was a bit offensive and funny.

Misty: Then what is it?

Jack: I'm not telling you, just do what I say. I'm sorry.

Misty: (sighs) Alright.

Daisy: Why are you telling her to break up with Ash?

Jack: Will you tell anybody?

Daisy: Not even Misty and the others.

Jack: No.

Daisy: Fine, tell me.

(flashback ends)

(in Misty's mind): I just hope he isn't mad at me.

Serena: Something on your mind, Misty?

Misty: No, just a bit tired.

Serena: Okay, just checking.

Serena and Misty get their schedules.

With Ash and his friends.

Cilan: Looks like we all have the same classes, in the same order.

Ash: That's weird, but hey, I'll take it.

Iris: Same here.

May: Well, let's go.

Ash, out of the corner of his eye, sees Misty, but Misty doesn't notice.

Drew, who looks at Ash looking at Misty with a slightly-ticked off look: Oh crap.

Brock: What, Drew?

Drew: Nothing, just talking to myself.

(in Drew's mind): Ash is slightly mad at Misty, I just know it.

Tracey: Well, let's go to class.

All: Let's.

Drew (to Ash): Calm down, Ash.

Ash: I'm trying. I really am.

Drew: Okay, just try. I'll talk to her later today, alright?

Ash: That's fine.

After 4 periods, the gang goes to lunch.

May: Boy, am I starving or what?

Brock: You always are, May.

May: What's that supposed to mean?

Brock: Nothing….

Drew (to Ash): Alright, I see Misty. I'll talk to her. After school, I'll distract Misty that way you can talk to Daisy.

Ash: Won't that seem weird?

Drew: No, and if they do think so, I'll them that I sent you.

Ash: Alright, you go talk to her. I'm gonna get some food.

Everybody gets food. Meanwhile, Drew talks to Misty.

Drew: Hey, Misty. Can I talk to you for a minute?

Misty: Yeah, sure.

(in a private area)

Drew: The reason why I am talking to you is because Ash seemed a little angry at you for breaking up with him.

Misty: He's still on that?

Drew: Not as much as the moment it happened, but he still has that on his mind.

Misty: Well, tell him I'm sorry about that.

Drew: Misty, I want the truth. What happened?

Misty: (sighs) You're not gonna let up until I tell the truth, won't you?

Drew: Exactly right.

Misty: My father told me to break up with Ash, and he wouldn't tell me why other than he didn't like him.

Drew: You're father is full of crap.

Misty: That's what I was thinking, seeming how Jake really bonded well with Ash.

Drew: I have a feeling that Jake wasn't telling the truth.

Misty: He wasn't. I could tell. I don't know what the truth is either.

Drew: Alright, well, I'll tell Ash about what you said. I think he'll have a sense of composure. I'll have Ash talk to Daisy and Jake, is that alright?

Misty: Fine by me.

Drew: Alright, thanks.

Misty: You're welcome.

After that talk, Drew gets back in line, and everybody gets their food.

Ash (to Drew): How did the talk go?

Drew: It went quite well actually. Her father made her break up with her.

Ash: Really? Why?

Drew: She said that her father didn't like you.

Ash: He bonded well with me.

Drew: I know, that's why I'm having you talk to Daisy and Jake after school.

Ash: Alright.

Serena: Hey, can I sit here?

Ash: Go ahead.

Serena: Thank you. My name's Serena, what's yours?

Ash: My name's Ash. This is my brother, Drew.

Drew: Nice to meet you, Serena.

Serena: You too. Um, I might need a little help to getting to my last class.

Drew: What class do you have 7th period?

Serena: History with Professor Jackson.

Ash: Same class as me, Drew and my other friends. Me and Drew will help you.

Serena: Thanks. But your friends, where are they?

Ash: Right next to me.

May: I'm May.

Brock: I'm Brock.

Tracey: I'm Tracey.

Dawn: I'm Dawn.

Iris: I'm Iris.

Cilan: I'm Cilan.

Serena: I'm Serena. Nice to meet you all.

During passing time between 6th and 7th period.

Drew: Alright, ready to go?

Serena: I sure am!

Ash: Our class is down the hall.

Serena: All right, let's go.

They get to Professor Jackson's History Class.

Prof. Jackson: Hello everybody, and welcome to history class. Get ready to learn great lore about this great region.

Everybody in their minds: Oohhhh no….

After a very boring history class.

May: Well, that sucked.

Iris: Ain't that the truth.

Clemont: I'm a history buff, and he made it sound boring as hell.

Ash: Well, you all have a nice night. See you guys tomorrow.

Everybody else: Will do.

Drew: See you guys later.

Ash: I'm afraid that if I go over there to Misty's house it will look weird.

Drew: I talked to Misty and she said it was fine.

Ash: Alright, I'm heading over there.

Drew: Good luck.

Ash: I will.

Sorry about the majority of it being filler, but had to introduce a new character and a minor narrative.
