Chapter-6: The Viridian Forest!

Our heroes enter the Viridian forest as they make their way to Pewter City, where Ash will try for his first badge. Both Ash and Serena are excited with the prospect of catching a few new Pokemon and training with them. While Misty is bugged out.

"Guys, can't we go to Pewter in a different way?" Misty asked frightfully.

"We could, but I won't have any time to train for my gym battle then. Lucario won't be battling, so I only have Pikachu for now. This is a wonderful opportunity to catch a few more Pokemon. And I'm sure there would be a lot of bug types here to catch from."

"Bu... bugs?" The orange haired girl stuttered.

"C'mon Misty, don't tell me this forest is scaring you." Ash teased her.

"Well... I'm not scared of the forest!" She replied sternly. "But can we at least take a break?"

"Ash, I think we should take a little break. We can't train if we're tired out right?" Serena suggested.

"*sigh* If that's what you both want." Ash replied.

The group sat down to have some food. They had a few sandwiches which they'd brought in Viridian City.

"Aaghh!" Misty screamed. Her scream was loud enough to knock out Pikachu, and flinch even Lucario.

"She's scary." The Aura canine commented.

"Bugs! Go away! Go Away!" Misty screamed, running away anime style.

"Oh wow! A Caterpie!" Ash exclaimed, looking at the little bug type.

"It's so cute." Serena added.

Ash walked up to it and crouched. "Hi there little one. How are you?"

"I... I'm fine." The little bug replied in a scared manner.

"You don't have to be scared of me Caterpie. Let's be friends 'kay?" Ash said with a smile.

"Friends?" Now the bug looked at him in confusion.

"Yeah." Pikachu added while sitting near Caterpie.

The Worm Pokemon cried as it hugged Ash and Pikachu happily.

"So, will you let me catch you Caterpie?" He asked while picking an empty pokeball.

"You really want to catch me?" It asked.

"Of course I want to catch you buddy. You're amazing!" Ash exclaimed.

"Sure. But before that one question." It stated.

"Go on." Ash insisted.

"How do you understand what I'm saying?" Caterpie asked.

"Oh that?" Ash chuckled nervously as a drop of sweat formed on the back of his head. "Well, even I don't know how, guess it's a gift I got when I was born."

"You're special Ash. I saw so many trainers pass through the forest, I tried to get a trainer for myself, but everyone said I was weak. I want to evolve into a Butterfree one day, and find my mate and fly away with it to start a family." The little pokemon said enthusiastically.

Ash felt sad for a moment, knowing that if he catches Caterpie, it will leave him one day. But now he wanted to help his friend reach his goal. "It's okay Caterpie. No pokemon is weak or strong. Even a Trapinch can beat a Copperajah in a sand tomb. Don't worry buddy, I'll help you reach your dream! Promise!" Ash gave his word.

Caterpie felt very happy about this, as Ash tapped a pokeball to its head, sucking in the Worm Pokemon in.

Ash was ecstatic, this was the first Pokemon he caught after becoming a trainer. And he celebrated it like a little child, twirling around and raising the Pokeball in his hand. "Yess! I caught, a Caterpie!" He squealed.

"Wow Ash! Congratulations!" Serena said happily, hugging him in excitement.

"Thanks Serena. This is a very special moment for me, and I'm glad you're here to see it!" He replied. This made the girl blush, as she hid her face in her long hair.

"Hey where's Misty?" Pikachu asked, noticing the Orange haired girl was not there.

"Huh?" Ash and Serena asked, looking around. "Yeah, where is she? Hey Misty! Misty!" They both called out to her.

Misty walked to them, shivering in fear. "Look Misty! I caught my first Pokemon." Ash said, putting the pokeball on her face.

"Aagh! Keep that Disgusting bug away from me!" She screamed, as Caterpie came out and jumped on to Misty's lap. "Go away! Go away!"

"But I just..." Caterpie defended sadly, before crawling back to its pokeball and going in.

"What was that?" Ash asked angrily.

"Bugs are one of the three most annoying things in the world!" Misty screamed at him.

"Well, right now, you're the most annoying thing in the world! We never asked you to come with us, you're the one following us. And now you're hurting my Pokemon!" Ash screamed at her.

"But... but you burnt my bike." Misty complained.

"Well, we did offer to pay you for it!" Serena replied sassily. "You don't get to act all high and mighty because we burnt your bike trying to save our lives. And we said we'll pay for your bike!"

"Come on Serena, let's go. I don't want to stay with someone who goes around bullying people and Pokemon!" Ash said, packing his bag.

"You're right Ash. Let's go!" Serena replied while she packed her bag.

It has been a good fifteen minutes since the Pallet trainers separated from Misty, but the orange haired girl was following them persistently. She's been calling out to Ash and Serena every single moment, but they weren't having any of it.

Truthfully it hurt Misty a lot when Ash called her a bully. From a young age she was always at the receiving end of the stick, and now she's done it unknowingly to Caterpie, and she felt terrible about it. Not to mention she wasn't exactly friendly after her bike was burnt.

"Guys wait! Just listen to me once!" She pleaded once again.

"What is it Misty?" Ash asked, turning around angrily.

"Look Ash. Serena. I want to apologize. The truth is, I'm afraid of bugs, I've always been. That's why I burst out on Caterpie. But that's no excuse to treat a Pokemon like that, Caterpie didn't deserve that. So, I hope you can forgive me." She asked hopefully.

Ash read her face, and knew this was genuine. He felt happy that Misty understands and accepts her mistake, but decided to stay stern for some more time.

"It's Caterpie that you should be apologizing to Misty." He said.

"I will. Can you... can you call it out?" She asked, trembling in fear.

Ash smiled. "Okay. Come on out Caterpie!" Ash said tossing the Pokeball.

Caterpie came out, it was still feeling bad, and now the girl was standing in front of it. "Hey there Caterpie. I... I want to say that I'm sorry."

The Worm Pokemon looked at her. The last time they met she wasn't exactly the kindest person. But she was standing right here right now and... apologising?

"Look Caterpie, it's nothing personal against you. I... I'm just afraid of bug types, and when we met I was startled. So I want us to start fresh. Will you give me a chance?" Misty asked nervously.

"Sure! Friends!" Ash translated for Caterpie, but that wasn't needed as Caterpie's excitement was clear from his behavior. It was jumping around happily, now it was going to have another friend.

"Now Misty why don't you make it up to Caterpie, by petting its head?" Ash suggested.

"P... pet its head?" She stuttered, but she looked at Caterpie, it looked at her with those big cute eyes. Wait cute? She thought. But she knew Caterpie wanted her to pet it, so she nervously lifted her hand and placed the palm on its head.

"Hey, this actually feels good!" She said, feeling the soft and smooth head. This brought a smile to all their faces.

"See? It wasn't too hard right?" Serena asked with a sweet smile.

"Yeah." The orange haired girl said, no longer nervous of the little bug type.

After they made up, the group decided to call it for the day. Night was approaching quickly, and it was evident from the golden-red sky and the bird Pokemon flocks flying in it.

They didn't have much food left except for a loaf of bread and few vegies. So dinner was going to be sandwich again. Serena sighed as she went to prepare the dinner for them. She had asked her mother to give her some cooking classes, but rather than doing that, Grace began teasing her, saying Serena wanted to impress Ash.

Well, whether or not that was true, Serena felt extremely flustered about it, and they never got to talk about it again. But Serena learnt to make the basics by watching the Poke-net.

Meanwhile Ash decided to serve the food for the Pokemon. He was already experienced with this as many a times the professor would let him serve food for the Pokemon on the ranch. He knew what they liked and disliked, so he had already stashed a little bit from Viridian. But with a new addition to their team, he wasn't too sure.

Misty brought in the firewood for their little camp. The girl was quite fit physically, especially with all the swimming she used to do before joining the group, so it wasn't too hard for her.

After having their dinners, they brought out their respective sleeping bags and went into it. Serena slyly slid towards Ash's side, stating she'd feel safer near him, and Ash felt a little blush on his face. Maybe she does like him, he thought.

The Pokemon were having their own talk at the same time. Caterpie had come out of its pokeball and was staring at the moon.

"Hey Caterpie, whatcha wachin?" Pikachu asked, walking over to the bug type.

"I was watching the moon, thinking how nice it would be to fly through the sky." It explained.

"Yeah. It sounds really fun." Pikachu said dreamily.

"You know, I never had many friends. Most of my friends already evolved and flew off, that's why I wanted to evolve too. I tried to get the attention of other trainers too, but all of them thought I was too weak. But when I met Ash, when he said he'll help me reach my goal, I knew he'd be the right trainer for me." Caterpie explained.

"Yeah. Ash is wonderful. You know I never really trusted any human, and when I first met him, I gave him a big shock. He just took it with a smile, and then I decided I'd let him try to train me. But then, when he saved my life, I knew from that moment, there was one person whom I could trust with anything." Pikachu said.

"Yeah. And then once you're a Butterfree, you'll be able to fly off with your own girlfriend." Fennekin said, jumping up to the tree stump and joining the two mons.

"Hehe..." Caterpie smiled nervously. "Speaking of mates, Ash and Serena seem to be awfully close." He said. The three mons turned around to see Serena's hands wrapped around his chest, as she snuggled into his shoulders.

"They're not together yet. It's such a shame." Pikachu said, sighing sadly.

"Yeah, it's not like Serena hasn't tried." Fennekin pouted.

"Yeah, well, Ash is an idiot when it comes to these things." Pikachu giggled nervously. "He thinks Serena probably doesn't like him."

"What?! That's outrageous!" Fennekin screamed angrily.

"Yeah. Well, I'm sure they'll both come through soon." Pikachu said.

Just then a Butterfree flew across the moon, shedding some spore, which shone brightly in the moonlight.

The three Pokemon watched the beautiful display, sleeping together happily.

The next morning Ash was woken up by a call for help. Waking up he found Serena's hands wrapped around his chest, and her head resting on his shoulders. A blush appeared on his face, but it was soon gone with another cry for help.

He looked up, it was Caterpie. And there was a big Pidgeotto, trying to make the bug type its snack. He shrieked, but it disturbed Serena a little. So he carefully lifted her head and gently placed it on his bag.

"Return Caterpie!" He called, aiming the pokeball at the bug. "You wanna take this buddy?" Ash asked to his partner.

"You don't have to ask!" Pikachu declared and turned to Pidgeotto.

The Bird Pokemon rose steeply and made a dive for the electric mouse.

"Quick! Dodge that!" Ash called out frantically.

Pikachu ducked with haste, as Pidgeotto barely missed the Mouse Pokemon. It began charging up its next move.

"Give it your thundershock Pikachu!" Ash gave the call, and Pikachu didn't need to hear it twice.

The noise woke up both girls, who saw Ash battling a Pidgeotto with Pikachu. They watched with goggy eyes as Pikachu fired an electric attack on the Normal/Flying type, shocking it mid air.

"Alright! Go, Pokeball!" Ash screamed, throwing the pokeball at the bird.

The ball fell to the ground, shaking vigorously, glowing red, until it finally didn't. There was a ding, and Pidgeotto was caught.

Ash walked up to the pokeball, and picked it up happily. "Alright! We just caught, a Pidgeotto!" He screamed, striking his pose, as Pikachu put up a victory sign. "You were amazing too buddy." Ash said to his electric type.

"Thank you Ash. I got to say though, that girl was a tough one." Pikachu said.

"Wow Ash, you already caught two more pokemon!" Serena praised him, making him feel a little embarrassed.

"Thanks Serena." He said, rubbing the back of his head. "Alright, Pidgeotto, come on out!"

The Bird Pokemon materialized out of the pokeball, she scanned the trainer's face and remembered the events that took place moments ago.

"Hey Pidgeotto, why were attacking Caterpie?" Ash asked calmly.

At that moment, her stomach rumbled slightly. And it gave Ash the answer he needed. "Guess you were just a little hungry, weren't you?"

Pidgeotto nodded her head in embarrassment. Ash went to his backpack and took out some Pokemon food. "You can have this. It's not for flying types, but I'll get you some at our next stop.

At this Pidgeotto was surprised. Wasn't he going to lash out on her for trying to eat his Pokemon. And here this human was, feeding it with food. For a moment she thought this trainer wasn't worth it. "Not to be rude, umm..."

"I'm Ash." Ash smiled.

"Wait, you can understand me?" The bird flinched in surprise.

"As a matter of fact I do understand Pokemon." Ash said. "Now, what did you want to ask?"

"I was thinking, why are you being so kind to me? I did try to eat your Pokemon." She said.

Ash gave a small chuckle at this. "Well, apart from the fact that I'm your trainer, I know that you were just hungry, and bug types are what you normally eat. Well, it would be wrong of me to not feed you, and I know that you wouldn't do it again." Ash said kindly.

Pidgeotto knew, this was the right trainer, the trainer who truly deserved her strength. Ash then brought out Caterpie, who flinched at the sight of the bird.

"Don't worry Caterpie, Pidgeotto won't hurt you. She was just hungry, so I gave her some Pokemon food, and she's on our team now." Ash explained.

"Ash! You can't expect that from your Pokemon, it was a very traumatic experience for Catterpie!" Misty screamed at Ash.

"Since when do you care about Caterpie?" Ash mumbled, and turned to Caterpie. "Well buddy, the first step to overcoming any fear is to accept what has happened. I know Pidgeotto won't hurt you, but to make friends with her, you need to reach the halfway mark too. So, what do you say buddy?"

The Normal/Flying type turned to the Worm Pokemon, looking straight into its eyes. "Caterpie, I'm very sorry that I tried to eat you. It's just we normally feed on your kind. But I promise you that I will always protect you hence forth." She swore solemnly, raising one of her wings.

"Okay." The Worm Pokemon replied nervously, as he crawled over to Pidgeotto.

"Thank you for giving me this opportunity Caterpie." She said, giving the bug type a nice warm hug. "So, are we friends now?" She asked.

"Yes. We are Friends." He replied happily.

"Now that's like my partners!" Ash said happily, while Serena adored her man. Oh but he was a boy, and not exactly hers. But she continued to admire him, someday they will be together. So she walked over and introduced herself. "Hello there Pidgeotto, I'm Serena. I'm Ash's friend, and this is my partner Fennekin." "That's me." Fennekin said happily.

"And I'm Misty. I'm travelling with these two here." Misty introduced herself.

Just then Lucario returned from his morning training.

"Ah, it seems we have a new comrade, Master." He said, announcing his presence.

"Lucario. How'd your training go?" Ash asked.

"I have learnt extreme speed, that was an improvement, and I have managed to work with Bone Rushes on both my hands." He explained.

"That's wonderful. I was wondering if you could help Pikachu learn extreme speed and iron tail. Those moves would be helpful at a Rock Type gym like Pewter City." The boy explained his request.

Lucario smirked. He was going to have so much fun now. "Shall we go Pikachu?" He asked with a sly smirk.

"I'm going to regret this aren't I?" Pikachu asked.

"Oh you're going to love this." Lucario replied sarcastically.

"I want a bottle of Ketchup after this!" Pikachu demanded.

"Sorry buddy, you just finished our entire supply of Ketchup last night. I'll get you one after the Pewter City gym battle. Is that okay with you?" Ash asked.

"Deal." Pikachu said, while going with Lucario reluctantly.

"Who was he?" Pidgeotto asked.

"That's Lucario, I hatched him from an egg a long time ago, and I train with him regularly too." The boy explained.

"I wish to be in this gym battle that you speak of. May I train with him as well?" She asked.

"Of course girl! Just go tell him you want to train too. But be careful, his demands are very high, and I speak with experience." Ash said.

"I'd expect nothing less." The bird smirked and followed them.

Serena decided to go on a stroll with Fennekin while Ash helped Caterpie train for a bit. In this time, the bug type learnt a new move, Bug Bite. Misty was helping with the dishes, with the help of her water types.

Suddenly there was a loud shriek from Misty, and they knew what it was. Even though she had made things good with Caterpie, bugs still bugged her.

"Please go away!" She screamed at it.

"Well, here we go again." Ash sighed, as he and Serena walked over to her. They saw a little Weedle, staring at the trio.

"I wanna have a battle!" The Hairy Bug Pokemon exclaimed. "And if you win, I'll accept you as a trainer."

"Well, that's an interesting idea. What do you say..." Ash asked his Caterpie, but Serena interrupted.

"Hey Ash, if you don't mind, can I battle Weedle?" She asked.

"Well, seeing that I've already caught two Pokemon, I think it'd be a great idea." Ash said after thinking for a moment.

"Thanks Ash." She said happily, but this time she had a determined smile. "Fennekin, let's go!" She said, making her obvious choice. She then took up her Pokedex to scan her opponent.

"Weedle, the Hairy Bug Pokemon. The Stinger on this Pokemon's head guarantees that any attacker will get the point where it hurts."

"Alright Fennekin, make sure you don't touch its stinger." Serena warned the Fire type.

"Fenna kin!" It replied back.

"Alright then, start things off with Ember!" Serena called out the first move.

In response to that Weedle rolled away pretty easily.

"Hmm... So Weedle can dodge our attacks easily. But if we get in too close, it will hit Fennekin." Serena thought. That's when she came up with a plan.

"Fennekin, run towards it with Scratch."

Weedle thought he had it in his bag now. As soon as Fennekin reached, it was going to poison her using its stinger. Right as its plan was about to set in motion, Serena called the next move. "Jump above it and use Ember from behind.

This startled Weedle, and left him wide open for the attack. Fennekin made a summersault and fired an ember at the poison and bug type which landed dead center, knocking it out.

"Alright we won!" Serena said happily, as she skipped over to the two Pokemon. "Fennekin, you were great." She said to the Fox Pokemon, and then her attention went to Weedle. "So, what do you think? Would you want to join me Weedle?" She asked.

Weedle nodded enthusiastically and Serena took out an empty pokeball and tapped the device on the pokemon's head, sucking it in without any resistance.

"Alright! We just caught... a Weedle!" She declared happily.

"Can't we have a break?" Pikachu asked, getting weary from the training. Lucario was making him run around faster and faster, while having a rock tied to his tail. The task was to keep running and not letting the rock touch the ground.

He also asked the new girl to lift rocks with her wings so she could learn steel wing.

As they continued to train, there was a very loud shriek and it was of Misty.

"Should we go investigate?" Pidgeotto asked.

"I don't think that would be necessary. It might just be that Misty girl saw another bug type. And knowing this forest it must be teeming with those." Lucario explained.

"No, this might be something serious. We should definitely go check it out." Pikachu said, as he desperately wanted a break.

"Alright, we can go, but on one condition. Both of you have to continue your training on the path, and if your rock touches the ground Pikachu, remember you'll be target practice when we have our next training session." Lucario announced.

Pikachu sweat-dropped, but agreed reluctantly, and the three mons dashed off back to their trainer's place.

On their way back, Pikachu began running faster and faster, while his tail began to glow white. It cut through the rope and the rock fell to the ground. He didn't wait, instead began running at an increased pace, until a green glow engulfed his body.

Lucario looked at the young electric type and smiled. Their training session was a complete success, as Pikachu had now mastered two new moves, Iron Tail and Extreme Speed.

Serena crouched and called Weedle out to make friends, when suddenly there was a rumble in the bushes.

Ash instinctively ran and stood behind her, as he caught a sword that was probably aimed at her with his thumb and index, shattering it to pieces.

"My precious sword." The boy who wielded it cried.

"Don't even think about hurting her, or the next time it would be your spine!" Ash spat angrily.

"I wasn't even going to strike her!" The boy fought back.

"That was brilliant Master. Your instincts have grown better." Lucario said from behind, as Pikachu and Pidgeotto entered behind him.

"How did you even get ahead of me?" Pikachu asked, as he panted heavily.

"I'm proud of you Pikachu, you were an excellent student. But remember, I've got my own set of tricks." Lucario said, before turning to Ash and the new boy. "I read your Aura, you don't seem to have any ill intentions to my master or miss Serena. However I'd ask you to refrain from pointing swords at a passerby. Now state your purpose."

"Whoa! It can talk!" The boy jumped excitedly.

"Lucario can do much more than just talk. Now, what do you want?" Ash asked with a tone of hostility still clear in his voice.

"Chill out young man, all I wanted to do was challenge the young lady here. I am Samurai, and I am on a quest to better myself by battling passing trainers." The boy introduced himself.

"And what was that sword for?" Misty asked angrily.

"It was just for the effects, although I can no longer wield it." He said grumpily.

"I'd say you're the one to blame for it, Samurai. So, you want to battle huh? Why not make it a Tag battle? What do you say Serena?" Ash asked her.

"Of course Ash. That would be lovely." The honey blonde replied, jumping at the opportunity.

"So, do you accept our challenge? Or have you torchicked out?" Ash asked.

"I shall accept this challenge." Samurai replied. "Alright then. Pinsir, Metapod come forth and battle!"

The two bug types came over to the field, ready to rumble.

"Fennekin/Caterpie! We choose You!" The Pallet duo said in perfect sync. Ash then turned to his bug type. "Hey Caterpie, this is going to be your first official battle with me. Just trust me and your instincts, and we should do great."

"Alright, let us begin!" Samurai declared. "Metapod, use Harden. Pinsir, rush in at Caterpie!"

"Alright Fennekin, use Ember to block Pinsir." "Caterpie, use Stringshot on the tree and swing around, then tackle Pinsir on the head."

Serena's attack landed, but Pinsir braved through it and continued towards the Fire type. Just then Ash's Caterpie landed on its head.

"Ha, that's just where I need it to be. Crush that Caterpie with your horns!" Samurai commanded.

Pinsir tried to do what was asked, but there was a problem, Caterpie was too small to be crushed between those claws.

"Now that's what I needed, use Bug bite!" Ash called.

Caterpie bit the Stag Beetle Pokemon, causing it to shriek in pain. And it began to pour a wave of String Shot around itself.

There was a glow and now Caterpie had evolved into Metapod.

"Awesome! You've evolved now!" Ash exclaimed.

"Well Pinsir, now that it's bigger, crush it!" Samurai called in frustration.

"Can't let that happen now." Serena said, as she and Ash nodded at each other. "Fennekin aim an ember at Metapod."

This decision stunned Samurai and Pinsir alike and it no longer had the grip on Metapod. Taking the chance, Ash made his next call. "Jump out and use String shot!"

Metapod responded quickly and covered Pinsir in strings.

"Now Fennekin Use..." Serena called, but Fennekin formed three blue balls around itself and fired it at Pinsir.

"Whoa, what was that?" She asked in surprise, taking her Pokedex to check.

"Hidden Power, a move that changes it type to deal super-effective damage to the opponent."

"Whoa! A move that can change its type. That sure is amazing!" Serena jumped happily.

"Pinsir, end that fox with close combat!" Samurai yelled angrily.

"Oh no! Fennekin, quick use Ember!" Serena countered.

Fennekin was pounded by Pinsir, until it was finally knocked out of the battle, but not before dishing out some powerful embers at the Stag-beetle Pokemon.

"Fennekin, return. You battled really well." Serena said, returning her starter to its Pokeball. She looked at Samurai who had a smug look on his face. She then looked at Ash, who seemed determined as ever.

Knowing he would avenge her, she stayed by his side, and continued to observe.

"Grr..." Ash growled, clenching his fist. "Alright Metapod, let's end Pinsir now! Use string shot again!"

Metapod covered the Bug type in another batch of string shot. And then it screamed out as it sent out a web of electricity, trapping the opponent in it.

"WOW! You learnt Electroweb!" Ash screamed joyfully. "Now finish it off with one final bug bite!"

Metapod rushed in, and bit the Stag Beetle Pokemon, ending it for good.

"Alright, now just one more to go!" Ash declared.

"Alright Metapod, use Harden!" Samurai called.

"Metapod, you use Electroweb!" Ash said. His Metapod fired another web of electricity, which trapped and then zapped the opposing Metapod, and it was finally down too.

Ash ran up to his first caught Pokemon and hugged him joyfully. "You were wonderful Metapod. That was a great battle!"

Metapod responded with a shrill of joy, before glowing white again. The back of its shell cracked as wings started to emerge from inside, finally, a Pokemon flew out of its old shell. The once tiny little Caterpie had now become a Butterfree, and it all happened in the span of a day.

"Ash! I evolved. Thank you so much for helping me reach this." Butterfree said happily as he swirled around Ash's head.

"Butterfree that's amazing!" Ash said joyfully, as he hugged the Pokemon.

"Butterfree looks so pretty Ash." Serena complimented, and walked over to him. "You did great Butterfree. I'm sure Fennekin enjoyed the battle as well." She said patting the Bug/Flying type's head.

Misty had just decided to be a few yards away from the bugs, but she did feel happy that Butterfree evolved, Ash said its dream was to grow into a Butterfree one day, and it was already here.

Samurai on the other hand looked devastated. He lost to... a novice. His pride was shattered, and the irony is it was the same novice, who had shattered his sword. Without speaking a word, he left the place.

"Well, we're pretty close to Pewter City now. And then we can get Fennekin and Butterfree checked up at the Pokemon Center." Serena said happily.

"Yeah, and I can't wait to have my first gym battle!" Ash declared. And they continued to Pewter City, reaching the outskirts by dusk.

AS THE JOURNEY CONTINUES!

AUTHOR'S NOTES

Well that's another Chapter done. This one was rather long, but then, it does cover two episodes. Also, sorry for taking so long, I was busy with writing the chapters on Wattpad.

Well, Butterfree evolved twice, in a single battle. And both Ash and Serena caught their first Pokemon.

Now they knock door to Pewter City. What's to happen next. To know, keep following the book.
