It took Charlie a bit of time to understand that he was getting a sibling but once he figured it out, he wasn't very happy with the news and occasionally sent scowls at Christine's burgeoning bump. "He hates the baby," she tearfully told Harry.

"Christine, he doesn't hate the baby. He's too young for that but that's beside the point. He'll be excited once they're here." Harry grinned at his girlfriend and kissed her as his hand splayed across her stomach. He laughed in delight when the baby kicked. "She likes me."

"Of course she does - you're her daddy." Christine winced when the baby pushed a foot against her. "I'll never get used to that. Still weird the second time around."

"I love you, Christine. You too, Charlie." Harry ruffled the toddler's hair, laughing in delight when Charlie glared at him.

"No!" Charlie yelled.

Harry and Christine winced. "Inside voice, baby," Christine gently scolded.

In a huff, Charlie toddled over to his toys and started (roughly) playing with them, knocking them over and picking them back up only to do the same thing all over again. "He scares me sometimes," Harry joked.

"Harry!" Christine gently chided, rolling her eyes fondly at the man she loved. Despite the fact that the action was getting harder and harder as the days went on, she kneeled down so she was eye to eye with her son. "Can I have a cracker? For the baby?" she asked Charlie.

The toddler considered it for a brief second before shaking his head and running to his bedroom. Harry helped Christine stand up and briefly kissed her. "He's still young, sweetheart. This jealousy won't last."

"They're going to hate each other forever," she sobbed.

He wrapped his arms around her and started rubbing circles on her back. "They will not - they'll love each other, I promise. It's just going to take some time. We knew that. Both of us are only children so we don't fully understand what he's going through, especially at his age. But that's okay - parenthood is all about learning. Do you think he wants to see a magic trick?" Harry pondered.

She laughed. "You can try." God, this man and his magic tricks. He was lucky she didn't mind them so much anymore.

The two of them left Charlie alone for about fifteen minutes before braving going into his room so they could see if his attitude was any better. Fortunately, it was but his mood soured when he spotted his mother, breaking Christine's heart in the process. "Relax," Harry urged, not wanting to upset both of them. Between a toddler and Christine's mood swings, he was dealing with way too many meltdowns lately.

"He hates me!" Christine wailed.

"My mommy!" Charlie yelled back, stomping his feet.

"Oh God." Harry sighed and briefly hugged Christine once more before squatting down to Charlie. "She's always going to be your mommy, kiddo. We love you with all our hearts, and that's never going to change. But your mommy is the baby's mommy too so you have to share. Do you think you can do that?"

"No," he replied.

"Please? For me and your mommy?" Harry tried, hugging the little boy he loved like his own. This was his first child no matter what anyone else said.

Charlie huffed but put a hand on Christine's stomach, glaring when his unborn sibling started kicking him repeatedly. There was definitely going to be a rough adjustment period for all three of them when the baby finally came. "Read?" he asked hopefully.

"Sure, let's read," Christine excitedly agreed. She let Charlie pick out a book or two and then lowered herself into the rocking chair so she could read to him. Harry put Charlie on her lap, which was becoming harder and harder as her pregnancy progressed, but they had figured out a way to make it work for the time being. Harry sat down on the floor and grinned as Charlie listened to his mother read one of his favorite books to him. He took over for the third book when an exhausted Christine needed to head to bed for a nap. Fortunately, Charlie wasn't all that upset, too busy loving his books.

Christine continued to worry about Charlie as her pregnancy started to wind down while Harry did his best to calm them both down and reassure them that everything was going to work out in the end. Having enough confidence for three people was exhausting as hell but at least he had their friends to lean on when he needed reassurance himself. Letting Charlie help set up the nursery went a long way too, even though they had to keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't turn the room into a disaster zone.

And when Christine finally gave birth to a little girl, Harry had Mac bring Charlie to the hospital so he could meet his little sister. He was a little terrified that everything was about to come crashing down on them but put on a brave face for Christine, who was too tired to see through it like she normally would. "Hey, buddy. We missed you!" Harry excitedly whispered to the little boy.

"Mama?" asked Charlie.

Christine beamed at her son. "Hi, baby. Are you ready to meet your little sister?" she questioned.

Harry picked him up and put him on the bed next to Christine. "Be gentle, kiddo. She's little and new."

"Charlie, you're a big brother now. This is Abigail Rose, but we're calling her Abby."

"Abby," the toddler repeated, trying the name out.

"Good job!" Christine nudged Harry, and he clapped his hands in delight.

Charlie placed a finger on the baby blanket and stared at Abby. "Hi."

Christine waved one of her tiny little hands. "She says hi back."

He giggled. "Hi," he repeated again.

"What do you think, huh? Are you an Abby fan?" Harry questioned.

"My babies together for the first time," Christine sobbed.

Charlie responded by poking Abby a little too hard, which of course set her off too. They'd work on it.

Charlie would get over his jealousy of his little sister within weeks, eventually adjusting to Abby's presence, and that's all either of his parents wanted. Christine and Harry would eventually figure out how to parent two very different kids who sometimes had it out for each other but loved each other all the same.
