A/N: Thank you for the few that have read my story but it is enough to make me really want finish at least one book of a HP/Pokémon crossover. I hope those who read this comeback every time I can update, I would hope I can update every 2-3 days and I'll try to stick to as best as I can. Now into the story.

Chapter 2: A Letter and a Wish

Ten years had past since Albus Dumbledore had last stood on the steps of 4 Privet Drive and during that time not much had changed on the outside of the house, the car had a few more dents and scratches and the front door had faded from the sun. On the inside however it was much the same, a few children's toys were stuffed in corners or in two of the rooms on the second floor of the house, new picture frames decorated the rooms, they now included a young boy that was slowly starting to look like his father and mother who stood proudly beside him. There was one change to the household that had no impact to the family except for their behavior, namely Harry Potter or freak as he thought his name was until he went to school and learnt his name for the first time. He lived in the cupboard under the stairs and wore his cousin Dudley's outgrown or severely ruined and old clothes that barely stayed on his skinny and pale frame. He grew up repeatedly told he was a burden upon the family that he was left with them his drunk unemployed father and good for nothing useless mother died in a car crash leaving him unscathed except for a scar on his forehead in the shape of a lightning bolt.

Harry always wanted to please his aunt and uncle but somehow never could, the meals he cooked were met with disgust, his efforts to care for aunt Petunia's prize garden was trashed by Dudley and blamed on him, the spotless cleaning he did around the house was somehow dirty and Dudley's muddy shoes and clothes once again had the blame placed on him. Harry didn't know why they hated him he tried his hardest to please them but nothing he did could. At school he learnt what he could and did his best to try to earn they're praise but he couldn't beat Dudley at school and that attempt to please them was reciprocated with punishment. Punishments were if Harry couldn't clean, cook or garden well he wasn't allowed to eat until they had finished and only got crumbs, Harry had to sneak small bites while cooking when aunt Petunia wasn't looking or a backhand was heading his way or a frying pan occasionally or a fist to the stomach from Uncle Vernon for overcooked food that burned the top of his mouth or wasn't up to his delicate palette of burgers, fries, bacon and the usual greasy food that Dudley had taken a liking to, it got bad enough that Harry spent weeks clutching his arm in pain after landing on in awkwardly after Dudley pushed him into the ground while he was gardening Aunt Petunia's roses.

Harry learnt growing up to never, ever ask questions about anything especially his parents anytime he did was met with more punishment which would be in the form of locked in his cupboard for days without food or have less food for breakfast or dinner. Harry wondered what his parents looked like or even what their names were but he knew he couldn't ask aunt Petunia about her sister without risking punishment. Harry was smart and intuitive for an eight year old boy and realized that his aunt was liked to gossip and lie about neighbors to spread runouts to ruin their reputation for her gain and came to realize that she was probably doing the same about his parents for some reason that he had no answer to, he only hoped one day that one day he could know the real people that were his parents not the ones made up by his aunt.

At school Harry learnt that Little Whinging was an isolated town in Surrey that was self sufficient town, all history was centered on Little Whinging and how great and perfect it was and the pinnacle of human engineering. It was so biased that nine year old Harry almost laughed in class at the tales of power and might but any attention was met with punishment just as much as at the Dursley household, Teachers went out of their way to give strong punishments with detention almost every week isolated to classrooms with teachers glaring at him while the other students played outside or taunted him through the windows. The students as well were crueler than teachers, bumps, knocks and kicks were given all the time and Harry had bruises hidden under his clothes and did his best to hide the pain to not give others satisfaction while the teachers turned a blind eye that to the pain Harry was in.

Over the next year and a bit things repeated themselves in a cycle and Harry closed himself off from the pain, punishment and disdain held towards him, he became nervous at angering teachers and his aunt and uncle or Dudley who him and his gang of bullies hunted Harry with the hopes of hurting him if they caught up to Harry who got proficient at running away from them. Harry had no friends in Little Whinging, those that he tried to make friends with were bullies by Dudley to not be his friend or sent a flying foot in Harry's direction if he got close to them. Only a nice old lady in Mrs Figg was someone that Harry liked, she looked after him when the Dursleys went on holiday without him or visited aunt Marge who loathes Harry more than Petunia. Mrs Figg always gave Harry chocolate sweets or tea when he was dropped at her doorstep. She was nice but a bit over bearing but Harry liked it, he had someone who was nice to him and he always looked forward to the next time he saw her, he also took a few extra chocolates to eat when he got hungry at the Dursleys, so far Dudley in his ever growing body had not found his stash which was something that put a smile on his face.

Today it was July 31st and to Harry it was important because it was his birthday something that he knew which made even more special and no one could take it away from him. In the cupboard under the stairs Harry scratched in Happy Birthday Harry below the five other messages from past years already on the wall 'happy birthday to me' was said as he finished with the empty pen scratching out the message, he looked at the only other being in the space watching, a slider and turned to a clump of dust marked with eleven toy soldiers 'I wish for a family' said Harry before blowing the toy soldiers over and the dust over them. He snuggled up in the ragged blanket and stained mattress and fell asleep hoping for a birthday present.

A/N: wow background info chapter written in space of a couple hours. I wanted to get this chapter out of the way but also wanted to set up the kind of person this Harry will be. He will be curious but not overly so that he looks for trouble he will no be less curious than in the movies, he cares for others that care about him and he wants a family. This Harry will be a caring Harry and the Pokémon I have planned for him hopefully show that and bring him out of the shell that he is in creating by his time at this Dursleys. Next chapter he gets the letter and goes to diagon alley I didn't include the zoo part because I couldn't come up with one partly because it will be explained in the next chapter but if you can't tell Little Whinging is isolated from Pokémon which will be explained so there is no reason to include Harry at the zoo. The next chapter will be more information heavy to explain the region which I have decided to name Magi and its history.

Thank you for reading this far and support that has given me courage to do this, I might get a few things wrong but I'll try to learn from them

I'm gonna do this thing at the end of chapters I'll come up with teams for character in other fictional universes because I'm bored and why they are on the team: For today Percy Jackson from Rick Riordans book series. I hope the series turns out to be good, I like the books but hate the movies

Percy's team, he a water/steel type master by the way if you can't tell.

Swampert, can ME and symbolizes the earth shaker powers Percy has and is water/ground type.

Empoleon, water typing and has trident on its head enough said.

Kingdra, he needs a dragon type on his team to show how strong Percy is with his water powers. Gift Pokémon from Poseidon and is a child of his Kingdra.

Crawdaunt, is the rogue Pokémon doesn't listen to rules like Percy for anything.

Keldeo, can be Blackjack as a uniquely colored pure black Keldeo, loves donuts and fights for justice.

Honedge, symbolizes Anaklusmos, do I need to say more for about someone who only uses a sword.

Possibly:

Walrein, can symbolize Bessie the Ophiotaurus. Male Walruses are called bulls so a bit of a stretch but how can you not include Bessie a Pokémon.
