It was all for her.

Everything.

All he did in his hard, miserable, life was for her. She was his light, his soul, his reason to wake up. And she was gone. He felt cold.

Her last words kept repeating in his head over and over again in a nonstop rhythm. Her face, her gorgeous face, had morphed into one of pain. Her mouth had opened and she looked him in his eyes.

"Why couldn't you save me Percy?'' She croaked out before the light diminished in her gray eyes. Her blond hair was caked in blood, the thick red liquid seemed to seep everywhere. Getting on his hands, on his face, in his mouth. He felt sick.

No, that wasn't right. Something was wrong.

But she was in his lap, her face expressionless, her soul empty. She wasn't here anymore, she was somewhere in the underworld now, he hoped she'd get Elysium. She deserved that, that and so much more.

He physically hurt. His heart, his chest, he felt pain. And something was wrong with his head, but he couldn't deal with that. He had to get her home. She needs to go home.

"Why didn't you save me Percy?"

Percy let out an odd sound, something between a sob and a keening noise. He didn't feel right. He was drowning in her blood, he was being consumed, he felt mortified. Traumatized. He needed to get her home, she wanted to go home.

Percy fight it!

He looked down at her body again, her eyes were staring into his still. As if she wanted to make him suffer as long as possible. She wanted him to know it was his fault. He should've done something, why couldn't he do anything?

"Annabeth." He whispered, sounding broken and pained.

Percy please, it's not real

Percy shook his head, confused. Something was wrong.

"Why didn't you save me Percy?"

"Stop." Percy pleaded, clutching his head desperately, begging everything out there to stop this. To ease his pain.

He felt tired.

What if he just..rested his eyes for a bit? He could lay next to her, pretend they were in his cabin, napping after a hard day of training.

No!

His eyes jolted open, the sense of wrongness overwhelmed him again. Was this even real?

Percy's face reflected his emotions, confusion and pain. He needed help.

Annabeth would know what to do, she always knew what to do. He opened his mouth to ask her where they were, but then he saw her eyes again. They stared at him and he sobbed, how could he forget? How could he forget he let her die?

Percy I'm right here! Snap out of it!

"Why didn't you save me?" But that didn't sound like Annabeth. The voice was too cold, too emotionless. It was rough, Annabeth's voice wasn't rough.

And then she wasn't in his lap anymore. Was she ever?

He closed his eyes, clutching his head. It hurt. He hurt. His head felt wrong, everything was wrong. Where was he?

Percy, open your eyes

That didn't make sense, his eyes were open. He just saw her just a second ago. Didn't he? Wasn't he covered in her blood?

No, he wasn't. He was clean, she was gone.

This wasn't real.

He knew that suddenly, he knew he had to get out of here. If he didn't, he might see her dead body again.

That's it seaweed brain, wake up.

She was there. Annabeth. She was leaning over him, tears in her eyes, but she was smiling.

"Took you long enough." She said.

Percy sat up and grabbed her as fast as he could, his arms were around her. She was warm and smelled like lemons. There wasn't any blood.

"Is this real?" He whispered, too afraid to speak any louder. He didn't want to ruin this, to break whatever this was. He needed her to stay right here with him.

She let out a shaky breath and sniffled. "It's real Percy, it's okay."

Some of the tension left Percy's shoulders, and he allowed himself to look at his surroundings. He was in his room, in the Argo II.

"What happened?"

Annabeth sighed leaning back enough to rest her forehead against his. "We were attacked, one of the monsters bit you with her venom." She looked into his eyes."I thought you were going to die." Her voice broke at the end.

"I thought you died." His voice was shaky. "There was blood, so much blood. I couldn't save you." The tears were hot and fast, they raced down his face.

"I'm here Percy, it's okay. We're both here."

"I love you so much Wise Girl." He grabbed her hand, holding it close to his heart.

"I love you more Seaweed brain."
