Chapter 4: The Long Wait
"Now with that added I'll help you prevent any viruses from attaching themselves to your phone if you ever manage to download something that comes with them"
"How does it do that?"
"It has a detection system that spots them out before they can do some serious damage," She said as she gave him back his phone once she finished adding the features."But just to be sure don't try to enter any site that's not safely locked as even with the protection on they still may affect the entire hardware"
"Got it" Taking back the cellular and scrolling the store of apps with an excited gleam in his eyes."Don't go where am not supposed to go"
"And don't go downloading too many things all at once, because there's only a certain amount of available space on that phone of yours, because if you go over the limit then your phone is gonna run slow and won't be able to work properly" As she said all of that Loona took noticed in how Naruto had become too preoccupied with the phone that it seemed that he wasn't paying attention to what she was telling him.
"Ouch," the blond fox exclaimed as he felt the side of his head get bumped by the hellhound's fist. Not too much to hurt, but to catch him by surprise. Though a sharp end of one of her fingers did poke him."What was that for?"
"Because you're not paying attention to what am trying to tell you" Loona replied with cross arms."This is important information that you'll need to know if you don't want that new phone of yours to break down on you because you were too distracted by it to learn how to take care of it"
"Sorry, is just that this is a far cry from anything that I have ever seen," He said as he held up the phone."Let alone existing from where I came from"
"I could just tell by how much your eyes lit up like a Christmas tree when we opened up the app store," The dog girl said with a toothed smile."Probably the best thing since sliced bread for you"
"Yeah, yeah" He waved his hand in the air at her teasing."I get it, my people are not up to speed when it comes to tech, but it doesn't mean that we at least didn't have some to use"
"With what you told me about what you guys had it sounds that you guys got as far as the 90s if you still had to use VHS tapes to play videos"
"What's a VHS?"
"Is a black brick with tape inside" Shaking her head in at the question."Anyway, just make sure not to go breaking it anytime soon as I doubt either one of our parents will be able to afford another one given how slow work has been for the past couple of weeks"
"Just because the business isn't getting that many clients don't mean that we're not managing with what we get"
"Still though, it wouldn't hurt to get a few more people walking through that front door asking for our help to kill some people"
"Kinda ironic doncha ya think?" He asked her as he laid back on the lobby's couch."Being in Hell and all you'll think more people would want to get even with people on the topside"
"We would be getting more customers if Blitz didn't act too carelessly with what money the company barely had on stupid things like fucking horse memorabilia instead of getting some proper advertisement to get more people to hire us"
"He really does love those horses" Remembering the many times he saw Loona's father more than once go on tirades about horses and having pictures and toys of the animals littering his office desk.
"Don't remind me" Her eye twitched at the thought of the image of horses clouding her mind.
"Though Blitz did get that billboard set up, that has to count for something at least"
"The one across the street with the poor grammar and the picture of him looking like an idiot that is pointing in the wrong way from the office"
Cue both of them looking to the right of them through the building's windows and seeing said billboard looking as though it had seen better days in how faded the picture had become. Despite the fade some of the lettering was still recognizable to any onlooker who happen to look up and see an image of Blitzo posing in a seductive manner with a rose in his mouth with expletives in large captions of what seemed to have been a message made by Blitzo to the billboard in
"Looking at it now a bit more closely I can see why that's not helping the company out," He said as he could not help himself from laughing a bit at the words used by the people Blitz hired to do the poster."Why wouldn't Blitz just get a refund"
"Because the assholes he hired ended up bailing and setting up shop somewhere else" The hound girl huffed out at the memory of her dad taking her around the city looking for them."Needless to say, he just ended up living the billboard up there to look at himself"
"...Is not a bad picture"
"It still doesn't make me feel any better about the situation"
A silence then fell on the two after that but was a one that was tolerable with them being on their phones. It had been about an hour, or two since the adults left on their assignment leaving the two children to their own devices. And as much as it was fun for the blond to get to know how to work his new phone, he knew that they needed to at least do something more productive instead of just sitting on their butts doing nothing, but having their faces glued to the small screen. Though he had to admit it was pretty fun in its own right.
Looking at Loona, he took notice that she wasn't really looking as though she was having that great of a time just being here at the office, as even though she was not as friendly to most people she met, she could still a fun person to know and hang out with if you took the time to really get to know her. Her personality, while being a bit on the snarky side, was just a coping mechanism that she took it upon herself to put off people she wasn't that keen to be around, or talk to.
Case in point his parents. Most notably Moxxie on numerous occasions.
And generally, most other people that Loona may find annoying, which at the moment was everyone. With him was the exception, albeit that was putting it mildly as he was the only other person that was Loona's age to be around her during long hours of the day, while their parents were at work. So he considered that as being its own form of victory for the hellhound to allow him to be this close in the first place.
So in his mind, I think it would benefit the two of them to have some fun that wasn't at the expense of using the phones for once.
"Hey, do you want to do something fun?"
"Were having fun with the phones"
"Yeah, were are, but maybe we could try something else that requires more than just swiping a finger and maybe be a bit more active"
"Like what tag?" Raised a brow at what the fox was trying to get at with this.
"That could be a start" He suggested."Or even hide-and-seek"
"I don't know that sounds kinda lame and for little kids" She replied, not bothering to look up from her phone to make eye contact with him.
"But we are kids and should be doing things that constitute our age groups" He stressed out in an attempt to convince her.
"Yeah, we are kids in a building that is entirely devoid of other kids for a reason." Loona said as she now leveled her eyes at Naruto."This whole place is nothing but a series of floors with other people running small businesses, some that are far worse than what I.M.P. get's up to"
"..."
"So if your thinking of wanting to go out there to do something 'fun' then by all means you can go at it alone, but don't drag me into it"
"..."
Seeing that what she said shut him up, she went back to using her phone. While Naruto his part only stared at her silently, before letting out a small sigh and getting up from the couch and getting himself something to eat from the lounge room.
Loona felt the coach shift in its weight as the fox got up, and sensing that the fox was quiet after she said her piece on the matter, the hellhound was debating in saying something else.
Fortunately, the blond was the first one to say something as he stopped in his tracks and turned his head to look back at her.
"Do you want to get a bite to eat from the lounge?"
"Yeah sure, I can eat" Seeing that some time has passed since she ate breakfast and some of the hunger was beginning to settle in her stomach.
"Am kinda starving right now" Naruto said as he began to walk towards the room leading to the kitchen."Hopefully, Blitzo didn't get to my ramen packets again, because if he did then I'll leave him a bigger surprise than last time in his office"
This got a snort from the wolf girl at the image of Blitz's face being covered in flour after it exploded on him one day after opening the first drawer from his desk followed by a bucket's worth of water falling on his head.
Needless to say, it didn't take long for him to figure out who it was and started calling the bloody murder of the human fox which was drowned out by her laughter.
"You'll think he learned by now with how many times you pranked him" Getting up as well from the coach and following behind him.
"Yeah, but that's what makes your dad fun, he never knows when to throw in the towel"
"I guess so" Smiling at the thought before the two of them entered the lounge room.
(Around the Same Time)
Within the confines of a large glass and steel structure was a massive compound filled with an array of plants ranging from the common species of red roses, yellow sunflowers, and white orchids to some of the more exotic variations of Hell's landscape that were livelier than the rest.
Given the amount of space that was made available it was able to hold a mix of plants that were inside ceramic pots placed in an orderly fashion in accordance to the breed of plant it continued. Other sections of the greenhouse were also in order, but instead of being in pots they were dug into the soil.
The noise of the low digging was heard at the other end of the complex as two figures could be made out. One that clearly towered over the person next to her who was start white in appearance as the feathers that she had were without any sort of stains, or blemishes that almost seemed to take up a glowing hue within the right light.
As opposed to her smaller companion next to her who was pitch black in nature that was not only mimicked by her physical appearance, but in choice of clothing. Though the difference ended with the color of their feathers, both shared the same attributes of being of avian species with the facial structure being that of an owl.
The scene itself was a calming one as the chatter between the two mostly adhered to what they were currently doing and how they spoke to each other it was one that was very loving.
"Octavia sweetie, can you be a dear and pass me the spade please"
"Here you go" Handing her said tool.
"Thank you, Octavia" She replied back with a warm smile as she tool the spade out of her small hands and began to take small chunks of earth."Now remember what I told you to have to always make the right proportioned hole when you are ready to plant your seeds as that will help them grow without being too tightly squeezed"
"Like this" Octavia said as he mimicked how her mother did it.
"It's a little bit too big on the corners, but a good start nonetheless" Smiling at her daughter. A smile that was returned by daughter who was enjoying planting the seeds on the earth, and thinking about how they'll come out to be once they started to sprout.
"What type of plants are we going to plant today?"
"I was thinking that we should plant some dahlia and maybe some plumeria's to put them together in a row, what to do you think?"
"Yeah, I like that dahlia's a lot with their purple color"
"I think so too"
She took a pack with the names of both plants and proceeded to open them up and handed some to her daughter.
"Now remember what I said, but only one seed per dug hole as it only serves to waste a good seed from growing in its own space"
"Okay" Heeding her mother's instructions.
"That's good," Stella said as she smiled in how happy her daughter was fully focused in their little pastime."How I wish your father was here to see you right now"
"I was hoping that he was here too so we could all be having fun together" The little one replied with a bit of sadness in her voice."But he's always so busy with his work"
"I know darling, but is just something that comes with the position that he holds as not just your father, but as the high member of our family. A lot of responsibility falls on his shoulders, and is something that he has to do in order for us to be well safe, and protected"
"I get that, but because he doesn't have much time to be with us it sometimes feels as though he doesn't really live with us" Pausing in planting more seeds as she thought about the times she had spent with her father."I see him in the mornings during breakfast, sometimes at dinner, and even sparingly at night"
She didn't have to look at her mother to know that she placed her own hand on her shoulder and gave it a soft squeeze.
"Deep down I know that your father loves you with every fiber of his body"
"You think so?" Finally looking at her mother with a clear expression of sadness in her eyes.
"I know, even now he's probably working hard right now and is thinking of you right at this moment"
"Hello, Blitzy~"
"Stolas, what I said about you calling me, while on the job!" The sound of a disgruntled imp came from the end of royal's hellphone."Because now is not a good time!"
"When is it never a good time to talk to my little playmate, because it gets so lonesome without having you here with me"
"Right now is not a good time"
"Having issues with a client?"
"More like waiting for the fucking target to show up," Blitzo said angrily."Because we've been sitting here outside his house like a couple of assholes with our thumbs up our assess"
"Hmmmmmm…"
"And I mean that figuratively Stolas"
"Oh I know, just thinking if it were real though"
Though Blitz was not there physically he felt himself shudder in whatever weird shit Stolas was thinking about. And as much of an open mind, the imp boss had when it came to his sexual appetite it paled in comparison to what the owl had him do everytime they got together.
But it was a sacrifice he was willing to do if it meant having the business stay afloat with the type of perks it came from having a big player as the likes of Stolas backing him up. But that was something he hoped to break away from once they got enough cloud in their names and an alternative source of transport that didn't rely on having to use the grimoire.
And while he was at it gathered enough income to purchase a proper home to provide Loona a better place to live in. Raising a child in the confines of office space was not the ideal choice for a young child, especially for a young girl.
Even right now it was important to focus on the target (if he ever showed up) to build up their name and even though some of the jobs they have come to complete it wasn't enough to guarantee a steady source of clientele.
Blitz knew deep down that they needed to land bigger fish instead of waiting for someone to call, or the rare instances of hits that Stolas needed to get done.
"Something has to give sooner, or later" He whispered to himself, making sure that it wasn't heard through the other end of the line with the nobel.
"Are you still there?"
The voice of the Goetia royal broke him from his deep thoughts.
"Yeah…yeah am still here"
"Good!" He exclaimed excitedly, but quickly hushed down so as to avoid having the help overhear his conversation." Because I could not wait any longer to hear your voice again, and knowing how long one of your assignments take on any given day I just could not help myself in calling you".Though they weren't near him he couldn't take the risk of being heard by one of them. Rumors spreading in this house were something that was near impossible to take back once it got out, especially when it regarded him.
"Very touching Stolas, but we can just cut this short because I have better things to get back to"
"But you said that you were waiting for the target to show up?"
"Yeah, so what?"
"So I was just wondering if we could talk a bit through the phone as I miss hearing your voice and given how busy I get it really doesn't leave me with much time on my hands to speak with you"
"Look Stolas, I don't have a problem with you calling me though the night calls does get on my nerve, I can't have any sort of distractions when am conducting a hit." He stressed out as he looked at his two companions perched on a top of three."It throws me off my game"
"I don't mean in being a distraction is just I just need some time to cool my mind whenever my work becomes a bit too much"
"We all have that Stolas is called stress and there's nothing new about that"
"I know, I know, but talking with you makes me feel a whole lot better"
Hearing Blitz let out a sigh on the other end of the line. Stolas felt worried that he was starting to become a bit too overbearing at the moment.
"If you want I can just call you another time when you are not too busy to do so"
"Stolas….look I don't have a problem if you want to talk, but right now is the best moment, and whenever we're done here I'll make sure to call you back. Okay"
"I'll really like that" His tone though sad at not being to talk with him some more, was at least grateful with the suggestion."Then I guess I'll be off then"
Though before he could hang up the phone he heard Blitzo call out to him.
"Before you go Stolas I was wondering if you could do me a favor, and am not referring to something sexual"
"What type of favor?"
"Nothing too much just around the likes of checking up on the kids back at the office just to see if they're doing okay by themselves. I have no doubt that they're fine as long as they stay in, and I know that Loona would not go wandering off by her lonesome is the other kid that I worry about that has me worried."
"You mean the young fox"
"Yeah, I don't have nothing against the kid, but I still don't trust him enough to stay near my Loonie for this long"
"Aren't you being a tad bit too strong on the boy, he seems to me like a reasonable lad who means no harm" He said remembering his few encounters with the child."I bet his just waiting patiently with your daughter in the lounging area as we speak"
"Yeah, well that's what got's I worried about" He grumbled at the thought."We'll probably be here a bit longer so just a quick check-up will help calm my nerves"
"I'll see if I can have the time to drop by, and I'll let you know about their current state"
"Thanks, I will really appreciate that Stolas"
"Don't mention it" Replying back happily.
"See you then"
"Talk you to later"
Stolas was the first one to hang up as the sound of the clicking noise filled his ear before looking down at his phone with a solemn look, and putting it back in his coat pocket.
"Trouble in paradise?"
"Shut the fuck Moxxie"
"Sorry"
"What was that?"
"I said sorry, you know over what happened earlier about the whole thing you said of the two of us having some fun instead of using the phones"
"Oh, that" He replied back as he took a sip from his grape-flavored soda."Don't sweat it, I wasn't really taking into consideration about the dangers outside the office it was just something that sprung out randomly"
"Yeah, but I acted like an ass in shooting down your idea of having fun"
"Is not the first time that's happened to me, and I doubt that I'll be the last, so is easy for me to know when not to push it too much"
"Damm, blondie if it weren't for you reminding what type of life you had when you were human it really makes it sound as though you were a sad case"
"I was," He said as he took a bit from the sandwich he had made."But I suppose that's something that I won't have to worry about now that I have good people looking after me than it was before"
"Actually, I've been meaning to ask you about that" Loona said as she aimless poked around her chicken salad that definitely belong to Moxie."Because other than that whole nine-tail thing that Stolas said when you first got here, the little bits you told me about a 'Hokage and the dated tech I really don't know much about you"
"Well, it's not like am a close book, or anything is just that you never bothered to ask me about it," He said as though it wasn't a big deal."I just assume you didn't care enough to learn more about me given how your always on your phone"
"Am not always on my phone"
"..."
"Shut up" Looking down at her salad and taking a bite from it."So, tell me how was growing up as a ninja"
"First is not ninja, its shinobi"
"What's the difference? Aren't they the same thing"
"Well, yeah, but shinobi is the better one to be called as" Saying his reason with narrow eyes in remembering how many times he had to correct the townsfolks about the right term to use."Ninja's fine and all, but shinobi just rolls off the tongue in sounding like a name that sounds badass to hear people call you" Showcasing his excitement for it with stars circling his eyes.
"I still don't see the excitement behind it"
"If you grew up in Konoha you would"
"I really doubt it, probably kill myself first from the lack of apps"
"Damm your so morbid" Looking at her with a weird look.
"That's just part of me" Leveling a smile at him at the reaction."Either you like you, or you don't" Pushing away from the half-finished salad away from her and took a sip from the soda in her hand.
"Anyway, what about you?" Changing the conversation back at her."Anything you want to tell me about yourself"
"As in….?" Raising her brow at what he wanted to know.
"Nothing much" Shrugging his shoulders."Just tidbits what about your likes, dislikes things of that nature"
"Getting a bit personal aren't we" Aiming a teasing smile at him."Don't you think we're still too young to be getting that open"
"Not like that!" Quickly got nervous at what she was implying. It didn't help either by the sound of her laughter sounding off that made his face even more red."Besides you know what I mean. Is just something that helps to break the tension between the two of us"
"I wouldn't go that far in calling what we have right now a sort of tension"
"Kinda feels like it does, especially when it comes to your dad"
"That just being him. It's nothing new that I haven't seen before" Getting up from her seat and taking the half-eaten salad and throwing it away in the nearb garbage."I guess is just something that dads do when raising a single child. Even more so if its a girl"
"I imagine it is" He said back as he did the same with the now empty foam plate that once had a ham and cheese sandwich and his flavored drink."But he always acts as though I have some ulterior motives when it comes to me being near you"
"He thinks that you are some bad influence, maybe even something worse that will have some sort of impact on me"
"Me, a bad influence" Pointing at himself with a shock expression."That's rich"
"Don't tell me to tell him that. I just gave up a long time ago in trying to make sense of how he acts all the time"
"I'll let you know once he stops giving me the stink eye whenever he sees me because in the meantime I'll continue to prank his ass until he stops"
"Man, the look on his face when he left him that paint bomb inside his desk after he made fun of your favorite color made the cleaning of his office all the worth it"
"That was just a preview of what I have in store for him he hasn't seen anything yet. So am saving the best stuff for the right moment"
"Can't wait to see that"
The sight of a purple flash illuminating the window from the breakroom caught them by surprise, but was soon followed by a groan from the hellhound as the sound of a familiar voice was heard by them.
"Children! Are you here?"
"Were in the breakroom Stolas" Yelled back Loona whose tone indicated her displeasure with who she was addressing.
"You okay?"
"Was, but not anymore"
He was about follow-up in what she meant by that but kept quiet as the room door swung open with the face of their parent's benefactor white porcelain face staring at them with a big smile.
"Thank goodness you are still here. I was assuming you two may have stepped outside the office and wandered off"
"We almost did" Loona replied with arms across her chest."Blondie here suggested the idea of roaming the building"
"It wasn't suggesting anything. I was just thinking of some fun things we could in order to past the time like tag, or hide and seek"
"Your were implying it"
"False"
"Regardless of what was suggested. I just came to check on your health and see if you were safe and not in any sort of trouble"
"We're fine, but just bored being cooped up here," Said Naruto as leaned his back on the counter near the sink."It's not fun at all just being sitting around doing nothing. And no Loona is not okay just to be on our phones" Stopping the hound from interjecting her own version of fun.
"Worth a try" Shrugging her shoulders at the jab.
"I see." Looking at the two children in front of him with a thoughtful gaze."Surely there must be something to keep your minds preoccupied with having to resort to your cellular devices" A sole talon under his chin as he struck a thinking pose in what to think of."What about school?"
"What about it?"
"Well, aren't you youngsters suppose to be in school learning with others your own age?"
"I haven't gone to school since I got arrived here, and before that, I wasn't always welcome to the one I used to go"
"What about you Loona"
"I haven't been made to sit behind the desk since I left the Pound"
"Then what do the two you receive as an education?" Curious to what they had to say about that.
"Millie and Moxxie help me to teach me the basics about math like addition, substation, multiplication and reading. They also help me get a layout about Imp City and parts of Hell"
Stolas then stared at Loona. Who looked as though she didn't want to answer his question, but knew that she had no choice in the matter.
"I just get information on my phone and from…tv"
"That doesn't sound like a good source to learn from"
"Is better than what Blitz considers as an education. The guy wouldn't even know how to begin teaching a kid about knowing what's what"
"Don't you think that's a bit harsh assessment of your father, he must be trying is very best in ensuring a good upbringing for your well-being"
"Really Stolas" Raised a brow at the statement with a knowing look that practically spelled out how nonsensical the comment was in reference to what type of person her father was."Even before you said you couldn't keep straight face"
"Yeah….I know, but that still doesn't mean that he at least doesn't care for your health at least"
"I guess so"
"Well anyway I suppose the two of you are doing just fine by yourselves, but it worries me that no adult is here to supervise you, children. It can be quite dangerous no doubt they may be some individual with bad intentions roaming around the building who would want nothing more than to do some harm to unexpect children"
"We could take care of ourselves" Said Naruto at the notion that they couldn't defend themselves."We may be small, but that doesn't mean that we can't lay down some serious beaten to whoever wants it"
"Yeah, our parents at least made sure that we can protect ourselves if something were to happen"
And as to show that they meant what they said they both took out their own weapons on full display to the avian royal. Which in this case was the knife that Naruto was given to protect himself that he twirled in his hand in rapid succession that was a trick taught to him by his mom.
Loona on her part just bared her claws that extend from her hands in a swift motion that almost had a shine to them from the lighting of the room that gave them a dangerous gleam to them.
"That's quite the sight to see" Impress in how fearless the children seem to be."I pity anyone that dares to break into this office"
"Damm straight"
Though it still bothered him at the idea of having children their age be by their lonesome without an adult present it at least helped to calm his nerves so that they could protect themselves.
"Need to remind myself to talk with their parents about their education at a later date. This is something that can't go unheeded" He thought to himself.
"Was that all that you came here for Stolas just to check up on us" Said Loona, interrupting his thoughts.
"Your father was worried so he asked me to look in on how you were doing, but seeing that there's nothing for him to worry about I think I should just take my leave then"
"You sure don't want to stay a little bit longer. Maybe we can all play a boardgame or something to pass the time"
"The offer sounds tempting, but am currently running a busy schedule at the moment to spare any time right for to be playing charades"
"Oh"
Feeling bad at seeing the young fox's crestfallen face Stolas looked at the clock on the wall and saw that he had some time before he needed to be somewhere else.
"But maybe I can squeeze some time before I go"
"Really!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Really?" Said the hound skeptically.
"Sure I don't see why not. So what did you have in mind?"
"Well we have a couple of board games in the next room that we can try" He said as he started to make his way to the hallway. Followed closely by the owl who made sure not to trip over his small stature.
"Then lead the way then"
"Are you coming Loona?"
"Christ" She whispered to herself."Yeah, yeah I'll be right there"
With that she proceed to follow the two to the next room at a slow pace as she was not fully on board with having her father's boyfriend with them, but saw that there was no point in arguing. Though at the very least it was a change of pace in doing something different.
The two of them by now had spend a few hours in the greenhouse following their brief conversation and by then they had gone down each asle of sorted plants and making sure they were taken care of. Checking to see if they watered correctly and if they were getting enough direct sunlight to grow, as well as seeing if they growth was going as planned.
But even though the family had a vast amount of servants to wait on their call, and the plants were monitored on a daily basis to keep up their health, the owl family was very fond of taking part in gardening. More so the father and daughter duo. Though Stella while not as big in plants found the activity quite relaxing and enjoyable, especially in how happy it made Octavia. So she minds getting herself stain by the dirt for her daughter's own happiness.
The moment was one to be cherished…..
"How are my two lovely ladies doing"
But that seemed to have come to abrupt end with the voicing of her husband coming from beside them.
"Daddy!" Octavia exclaimed as she quickly got up from her sitting position and ran up to Stolas and jumped to him with arms outreached.
"How are you my little owlette?" Picking her up mid-air and bringing her close to his chest in a warm embrace."Are you having fun with your mother"
"Mhmmmm" She nodded at him."She's been teaching me all these cool things in taking care of plants and how to make sure they grow big and strong" Throwing her arms in the air as she spoke in such an exciting tone.
"Did she now" Looking at her wife with the same smile and getting a nod back" Now ain't that nice of her to do" He said as looked back at his young daughter."But am guessing that being here has gotten the two of you so dirty with muck"
"Just a little a bit, but we didn't mind" The youngest replied back."Right, mum!"
"She's right," Stella remarked as she walked up to them while wiping some of the dirt that had accumulated on her gloves."I've been teaching some of the steps in maintaining a garden and she's being a good sport in picking up what I've been teaching her"
"That's good to hear" Putting down the child in arms down to the ground at the expense of hearing her pout at him doing that."It's good for her to be able to stretch her legs and out of those dusty books for a while"
"There sooo boring dad" The little one chipped in."I rather be here in the gardens than being cooped up in my room with the tutor"
"I know sweetie" Reaching down with his right claw and gently rubbing the top her head."But is important to be made aware of such teachings if you want to be a strong and proper leader for the Goeitia Family"
"But's too much to learn from"
"That's just the sign of a stong family lineage that spans generations, darling" Stella remarked as she herself also had to learn the important history of both their families."Is something that your father and I have had to learn about when we were about your age"
"Is still not fun though" The little one replied back with a sour look to her face.
"That is just how some things are"
"Still…"
Seeing that his daughter could not respond back to her mother as indicated by her loss of voice and pondering facial expression, the patriarch decided to help her out.
"How about we move this conversation to the living room with some relaxing refreshments in hand?"
"That sounds like a great idea, darling" The white owl said as she took off her gardening gloves and placed them on the side of the table stationed near them. An action that was copied by Stella, though she rubbed her hands to get some of the remnants of dirt off her arms."I think we spend enough time here to build up a sweat"
"Grumble"
The small sound of their daughter's stomach grumbling had both parents looked at Octavia who seemed flushed with a red face at the unexpected release.
"We should also add a bite to eat as well" Stolas added as he laughed at the sight.
"Not funny" She grumbled out as he looked at the ground at the sound of her dad laughing, and knew that her mother was smiling even without her looking.
"Come on, let's get a move on before we end up staying at the greenhouse more than we need to" Taking her daughter's hand with her own. An action that was duplicated by her husband who took the other one as well.
All three leading themselves to the living room quarters of the mansion toe-toe in each other's hands in a welcoming sight of a banded family unit. Or at the very least the sight of a family pretending to be one.
End of Chapter 4
We now have the first appearance of young Octavia and her mother Stella. There introductions into the fic were something that I kept having some issues with how to characterize at this point in their lives given when the story takes place. It kinda comes off as being two different versions of their interactions, but I think they came out okay.
As I mentioned before, I want to take my time with how all the characters interact with each other in their younger years, especially the likes of Naruto, Loona, and Octavia as kids. As well as their parents that will come to play a major role in the story in later chapters.
I also wanted to delve a bit deeper in the type of relationship that Blitz and Stolas have with each other than what is presented in the show as being more on the likes of being conflicted, especially with how Loona reacts to her father's business with the royal.
At the moment that's practically everything I need to say about that, though am still happy that I was able to finally introduce the two into one of stories already.
The next update will be The Agents, followed by possibly maybe a new chapter for the Beastars crossover, or one of the new fics that I have in the works. Whichever comes first I suppose.
Until Then, enjoy the read and be safe out there.
