RESTREINT
Jimmy Fallon
There was no denying it…Miley was tired. As relaxing as these days in Nashville had been, the more stressful New York was. All she did over the last 2 days was running from one meeting to the next and she just couldn't catch a break. Interviews, music shows, sponsor events, meet and greets with fans, VMA's and now she was sitting backstage at the Tonight Show, where she would be a guest tonight. She actually loved this show and its host, Jimmy Fallon, former member of the Saturday Night Live Crew, who was her second favorite show host. Of course, Ellen was her number one. And still, she would be more than happy to finally return to Los Angeles in two days. With a smile on her face, she thought back about various occasions where she came back home after a long day, tired and exhausted, only to get spoiled with attention and a massage from her boyfriend. It had only been 3 days since she left him in Nashville, and yet, she was missing him terribly…and she liked that. In her previous relationships, she was always glad when she could leave for a week or two and be on her own.
A few moments later, a show assistant came to pick her up and guided her on to the stage, where she was announced by the host. And again, just like the last time she was at Ellen's, the audience was more than happy to see her, and Miley was still amazed at how much her public image had changed over the last weeks. After making her relationship official and changing her behavior, it only took a couple of weeks before she got close to her former role as America's sweetheart again. Even the number of her followers on Instagram had exploded from 60 to around 95 million, where she was about to crack the top ten worldwide. Some of the new followers were probably basketball fans, since every attempt to convince Hans to take care and regularly update his own profile had miserably failed till now (he only had a very private one, which he basically only used to stalk his friends, and a few celebrities, embarrassingly also some of the Beverly Hills Housewives). So, the only possibility to see pictures of him and Miley or what was going on in his life was by following Miley's profile.
She gave a big hug to Jimmy and sat down on the couch, while the host waited for the applause to end and start with the interview:
"Miley, it's so good to have you back again in our show. But first of all, congratulations for your new album, which has been a huge success since its release. 5 singles in the Billboard Top 100, Malibu is the number one song in 30 countries, and it has become the fastest video to generate 100 million views on YouTube. What are your thoughts about all this?"
"Thanks Jimmy. It's kind of overwhelming, to be honest. More so because this album is very personal, and I have put a lot of my own experiences and memories into it. And the success of Malibu is just a huge bonus, because this song just means so much to me"
"You said before that you wrote this song for your boyfriend, how did you get this idea?"
"Basically, I just wanted to thank him for pulling me out of a very dark place and teaching me how to enjoy my life again"
"Speaking of him…as you know, the New York Knicks are having some…issues…right now, couldn't you try to convince him about how beautiful and amazing this city is? It looks like he's back in shape, and I'm sure he could give our franchise another 3 or 4 good years"
"Haha, I'm sorry Jimmy, but the way I understood it, he's done playing basketball for good. Besides, New York is way too far from Los Angeles"
"Oh well, it was worth a try. What are your thoughts about the rumor, that your relationship is fake and you only started it in order to promote your new album?"
"Well, what can I say? A few days ago, we actually had to take a very important decision, and I'm really sorry that I have to say this now, but…"
Miley took a couple of seconds to get herself together (a little bit of drama never harmed anyone), and continued:
"I mean, I'm sorry that people like Perez Hilton have to hear these news now, but we have decided that, as soon as I'll be back in Los Angeles, the time is right to officially move in together"
"Oh wow, that's great news. I can imagine that some people won't like to hear that. But, I also have to ask about something that recently came back up in the media, especially due to the Demi Lovato incident, who's being treated in hospital right now, after having overdosed at a private party in her house. What do you think about this Disney-curse, apparently a lot of celebrities that became famous thanks to Disney end up in very bad situations?"
"Honestly, I don't think it has anything to do with Disney, but rather with the fact that people who come into this business at a very young age and have to grow up in the spotlight, are just more likely to do stupid things. The best example would be Drew Barrymore, who had no connection with Disney, or also Macaulay Culkin".
"So, in your opinion, what can be some of the reasons of these breakdowns?"
"There are definitely several factors that come to mind, and every story is unique in its own way. As long as you're young, you're living in a bubble. Your parents take care of everything and protect you, at least if you have good parents, and the media kind of leave you alone, because nobody likes it if you basically harass young children. Later on, as you start to grow up, or think you're grown up, you want to start taking your own decisions, even though you have no idea about the real life. Every mistake you make will end up on the internet and in the press, everybody will have an opinion about you and a lot of people want to take advantage of you. So, if you put your faith into the wrong people, it can get really ugly, really quick."
"I suppose you can talk a lot from your own experience?"
"Exactly. And that's why the news about Demi's overdose were such a shock for me. I was in a similar situation like her, I trusted the wrong people, took the wrong decisions, a lot of stuff happened because I thought I had to become independent and take my career in my own hands. And, of course, do just the contrary of whatever my father advised me. Because of that, and also because I know Demi as an amazing person, it has been devastating news for me. Also because I'm thinking, if I hadn't been so lucky to have the right people in my life, that could have easily been me. And that's a very scary thought."
„Anyway, we wish Demi a lot of strength and a speedy recovery. And to switch over to a brighter subject, in just a few weeks, the new season of The Voice will start, and for the first time, you gonna be one of the coaches. How excited are you about this?"
They continued talking about The Voice, her fellow coaches, played two silly games and, of course, Miley closed the show with one of her new songs. Shortly after midnight, she was finally back in her hotel room and went straight to bed. The next day, she only had a couple more interviews and a PR event, before she would head back to LA on Monday morning.
